This is a quaint, small hotel spread over five floors. The so-so breakfast is served in a very nice basement room. To get to it, you have to walk 2-4 floors down from your room. There are no rooms on the ground level, which is what we had wanted due to my wife's mobility issues. The location of the hotel is perfect, the furnishings are ornate, as is the entire building. The staff are mostly pleasant. Our major beef is with our room. We booked the hotel for 12 nights, so we paid about 40 per cent extra to get a nice sized room with a city view on the main floor. Instead we got a tiny one person room that is not even listed or shown on any website. It had obviously been used by a local person, maybe an employee, as there was a pile of dirty clothes in the wardrobe and a couple of other items on the hangers. For furniture we got a bed, one night table, one chair, one little table and a rack for one suitcase. The toilet had no lid and there was water on the bathroom floor. The \"city view\" from the living area was of nothing but a wall with wires hanging down and a view of walls and a derelict roof from the bathroom window. We did not get a desk, a 38 inch tv, an armchair, a second chair or night table as shown in all the pictures. For appliances we got a tiny mini fridge and an electric kettle. Complaining did not help and they would not even give us another chair. There would have been just enough room for it. There are plenty of other hotels in the area. I cannot recommend this

The real downside was the beds - hard as a rock - and the too high and dense pillows. I had back and neck aches all week. Most of the staff was lovely, though they disputed the amount to charge as given by hotels.com, so it cost us a bit more than we budgeted. The breakfast was ample and varied, though sometimes of mediocre quality.
The best thing is the location - convenient to everything in the city.

Room was cleanish. The rooms are not sound proof and you can hear everything to people waking up and down the stairs to the people next to you and above you. The breakfast was minimal and if you didn’t get there at 8 when it opened you might miss out as when it’s gone that’s it. The bathroom had a drainage smell, the shower leaked and the overall room needed updates. I wouldn’t recommend staying more than one night. Close to city center,5 minute walk.

The room was clean and looked just like the photos. The staff was friendly and breakfast was a nice touch. The location was truly in the heart of the City Center.

2 things I didn't like: 1 was that I had asked for no services at the front and even put the do not disturb sign up, but when I returned several hours later, someone had been inside as tlour blinds had been opened and our double locked room was only single locked. None of our items appeared tampered with, which includes some money that was not in plain sight, but not hidden either, so I doubt there was nefarious purposes for the entry, but still annoying.

2: I definitely got overcharged when I paid at check-in. Anywhere from €10-28.18 I was told was from mandatory tax for visitors, which I thought Expedia would have included, but maybe not. The other 10 I am pretty sure was an addition error. I spoke to one staff about it, and they showed how the total was 225€. I explained that I had been charged 23.500 Lek, and they gave a response about that being the difference and I didn't want to argue over 10€ as it was a nice stay.

I would still stay here again, but knowing that 1€ is roughly 100 Lek, I would have said something at check in prior to paying rather than seeing my credit card statement be higher.

Mold in the ductless AC unit and in the shower and the sheets were stained, property refused to move rooms or ackowledge issue and I didn't bring it up with Expedia because I know they don't care about their customers safety or wellbeing from dealing with a much worse situation at a different property last year. Breakfast was fine and staff were friendly enough. The gentleman the first night gave me bad information about getting to the train station too.

Horrible Tirana Albania Hotel

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. I’ve booked over 50 stays with Hotels.com and this is the only time there was a problem.
Management is horrendous. I booked my 2 night stay 11 months ago - deluxe double room. When I booked, I knew it did not have an elevator. I messaged hotel 10 days prior asking for a room on 1st Floor as we have trouble with stairs and was promised that would be no problem. Arrived after a long day of travel and they had given our deluxe double to some other guest. Only room left was what I can only describe as a backpackers hostel type room with 3 small twin beds on third floor above the ground floor. Shower door was so close to toilet you had to sit at an angle. Too late to go anywhere else for first night.
Woke up in middle of night with numerous bug bites. Notice what look like a few pepper flakes on bed sheets. Can not confirm, but believe at least room 11 has bed bugs.
We booked another hotel for second night and checked out at 0930. Hotels.com called manager to try and get refund for second night but he refused.
Breakfast was limited and not very good. Fried eggs cold. Orange juice is orange soda.
Only positive comment is desk clerk was very nice and apologetic. He knew we had been screwed. He carried our 2 big bags to our room 3 floors up. Wanted to talk yo manager but not available. Pictures attached is what our room was supposed to be and second is room we got.

Tirana is a fascinating, exciting modern city with plenty to do for the weekend. The hotel was, however, pretty grim. There is nowhere to sit outside except for a couple of tables on the street. These were occupied most of the day by local workmen and friends of the staff who smoked incessantly. I always woke up to the smell of smoke as my room was on the first floor.
We had huge problems with the fact that the staff were chaotic and disorganised, especially with regard to payment.
My friend and I had separate rooms and in both the bathrooms were unpleasant. The plumbing had not been finished on my bidet and water went everywhere. Similarly the shower door didn't fit and the floor flooded. The other bathroom didn't even have a shower door!
The dining room was like a dark cave ( hence our preferring to sit outside whenever possible.)
I ordered a glass of wine on two occasions and was charged very different prices. When the manager was called to finally settle the problem re payment he agreed that we were right but said he couldn't afford to pay decent staff as this would increase the price.
I would encourage friends to visit Albania and might well go back myself but I strongly advise against staying at The Brilant Antik.

A lovely little hotel for my stay in Tirana. It’s down a quiet street but still very close to all the main attractions. The hotel is truly stunning and the rooms were spacious, very clean (daily cleaning), comfortable beds and a good working shower. The hotel has a small bar serving hot and cold drinks inc alcohol throughout the day.
The breakfast is continental with fried eggs and sausages cooked and finally the staff are all very friendly and helpful.

Highly reccomend this hotel if you’re visiting Tirana and you are after a small, quaint and beautifully decorated hotel.

I contacted the hotel a day in advance to reconfirm my reservation. When I arrived at 5 PM to check in, the front desk staff appeared concerned and contacted the manager. The manager informed me that there was an issue with my room and that I would be relocated to another hotel — the Residence Inn — located 2 km from Skanderbeg Square. I declined, as I had specifically chosen this hotel for its walking distance to tourist attractions.

The staff member then said the only available option was to stay in an apartment next door for one night, with a proper room available the following day. He offered a partial discount, charging €100 instead of €119 for the two-night stay.

Unfortunately, the apartment was in poor condition: visible water damage, a leaking air conditioner, and outdated furnishings. Two hours later, I contacted Expedia support, who then called the hotel to request a refund. The hotel refused, falsely claiming I had checked in 10 hours early (it was actually just 2 hours) and that they offered a 50% discount for that night.
The next morning, I was moved to a proper room, which was beautiful, and the morning staff were very pleasant. Sadly, the manager was arrogant and dishonest. This was most likely a case of overbooking.

I wouldn’t go again, because of the management attitude. It’s too bad because the hotel location is perfect.

The hotel is perfectly positioned down a quiet side street away from the traffic of Tirana. Yet a slow 7 minute stroll brings you to the centre of Tirana and the joys of the city.

The hotel is decorated as the name would suggest in old style with the restaurant looking like you've stepped back into medieval times.

The only negative is that on arrival we had to put our top sheet on and grab the duvet from the wardrobe. Then the following day had to do the same as the maid had removed it.

Otherwise, you can't go wrong with choosing this place.

GOOD - Location is excellent...minutes walk from airport bus stop, castle, and toptani mall; Room size was good; aircon worked well; acceptable selection of breakfast stuff; lady on reception was polite & helpful.
BAD - \"City view\" was a view of the back of a solar boiler on the roof outside, glass in main unit was cracked; stained walls; paint drips on tiles; cleaner forgot to replace towells and toilet rolls multiple times.
UGLY - Multiple lights and sockets hanging from walls by bare electrical wires; black mouldy seal around shower cubicle; sink cracked and not properly attached to wall; awful wi-fi which regularly cut-out/was unavailable for periods; rude evening front desk man whose answer to us raising issues was \"i just work here\".

Dishonest Hotel

Unfortunately, I would not recommend this hotel for the following reasons. I reserved 7 nights in a family room for a total of £441.59 to pay at the property.

On check-in, I was asked to pay £515.30 which the hotel claimed was “tourist tax”. This is over £70 which is more than £5 per person, per night.

Not only this, I also reserved their most expensive room which was the family room. I was given a stranded double. Upon complaining I was upgraded to the deluxe double room the next day. However the family room which I paid for was never given to me.

After accepting my fate, the rest of the stay was okay. The shower had a smell which other people have mentioned in other reviews but apart from that. Everything else was good. The staff are kind and friendly and the breakfast is also okay. I wouldn’t say anything about this hotel is amazing. You get what you pay for. However I didn’t even get that.

The location of this hotel is great. Close walking distance to everything you need. The staff are friendly and helpful. the towels were replaced everyday although we did not request that. Hotels seem to act eco friendly but most, like this one, replace and wash towels everyday. There is no elevator but it is an historic building. There is also too much smoking for our liking even though there are no smoking signs.

Never stay at Hotel Brilant Antik

They had overbooked and asked if we would mind staying in an apartment. They said it was not ready and could we come back after an hour and a half and they would kindly give us 25% discount.
The taxi we had arranged with the hotel from the airport did not arrive so we were tired and just agreed as they were very pleasant people.
The apartment turned out to be a garage - separate from the hotel. Poor security, water pumps going off all night,noisy neighbours and people actually banging on the walls and the metal garage sliding door. It had not been cleaned properly and both of us were bitten by bed bugs. There was a lovely waiter called Dennis but the female at reception and breakfast was smiling when insisting we paid for water we did not have. We paid as I just wanted to get away. Tirana and Tirana’s people are fantastic. Brilant Antik Hotel is a disgrace and it really ruined the beginning of our Albanian experience.

The hotel is not a 4 star hotel as it’s very basic more like a 2 star. The bed was however very comfortable and clean but the room smelled musty and you will find scents left to try alleviate this so they must get complaints. The bathroom was nice, new toilet and bidet but the shower lacked power and therefore a normal shower took twice the time. There is no lift so if you have a room high up it’s a climb. My hairdryer exploded after use one day and tripped the electrics in the bathroom which could not be fixed whilst I was there. The hotel was full and they could not give me another room. The handheld hairdryer they gave me also didn’t work. The breakfast was very basic and the same each day, so I only ate it 3 out of the 6 day stay. But to be fair it is a free breakfast and there was cereal, bread, cheese, cold meat, watermelon and eggs. I did not like the antique decor throughout, it smelled musty everywhere even in the lower ground breakfast room, and it looked like the hotel had little investment made in it. The reception desk was often unmanned. Overall for 60 euro a night the hotel was ok priced as it is in the middle of the centrum so you do have the convenience of being close to everything. I really struggled with the noise though. There were people sitting outside talking until very late (after midnight) and then very early on there were building works (from 7.30). Overall it was a 5/10 for me but the comfort of the bed was a 9/10 and the bathroom 8/10.

Great stay, very central just minutes walk from Skandaberg Square, the Pyramid and 30 minutes from the park and lake. Beautiful old traditional small hotel, friendly service. Free on street parking right outside. Breakfast good (from 8am). Big comfy room (though we booked a King and instead got a twin which was a shame, the beds were actually small doubles)

The wardrobe was had a crack in the glass and was missing a handle. The reading light over the bed didn’t work. One of the bulbs above the sink was hanging by a wire. There was build up around the base of the shower in the cracks. It looked like it was just chalked over. The bed was firm but I like a firm bed.

Hotel is right next to city center with pedestrian zone of restaurants (Tirana Castle). Small boutique hotel with beautiful woodwork and paintings. Breakfast was very good: they even provided eggs, homemade croissants, and an expresso/cappuccino machine, among other things. My room was a bit on the small side, but beautifully decorated. The hotel can arrange some private tours with their driver.

The hotelier was super kind and accommodating. The space and experience were thoughtfully planned. From the welcoming beer to the tasty breakfast, we enjoyed it fully. Also, the hotel has a charming and classic feel that might have felt a little dated except for the fact that everything was super clean and well maintained. We would definitely stay here again.

Tirana trip - Sep 2023

Hotel is located in a great area - within walking distance to Tanners bridge, Tirana castle, Toptani center and many restaurants. The building itself is historic and very pretty - the main reason why I booked this hotel.

A few things to keep in mind: the room door has no peephole or deadbolt, you have to specify that you don’t want daily housekeeping (otherwise they may enter your room when you are not present), and there is no safe or coffee maker in the room. Bring some slippers or shower shoes, also!

Breakfast is from 0800-1000, in the basement chamber. It is a really cool room. They have an automated espresso machine.

Regarding housekeeping (the second day of my trip), the woman buzzed my door while I was there. I was out all day on the third day. While I was getting ready for dinner, I noticed my (travel sized) Ellis perfume was missing from the bathroom where I left it. After checking my things, there was nothing else missing from the room.

The hotel is located on a small side street, but there are a few parking spots reserved in front, in case you are renting a car. Reception can schedule transportation for you, upon request.

Overall, my stay was pretty nice and restful.

Wonderful Stay!

We really loved our stay at the Brilant Antik. The location is great, staff is very friendly - especially Vlad who took great care of us! The rooms feel very authentic and we have recommended this hotel to others looking to visit Tirana. The parking can be a bit tricky to maneuver but the hotel staff helped us with this as well!

The room was not as the photograph on the website. Monies were demanded immediately upon arrival for the room, in an aggressive and surly manner. Not impressed and would never consider staying there again. Bad experience.

The hotel was generally ok. The location was good and quite. However, we had a big problem during the night, because of the air conditioner. It made so much noise. It seemed we were lying just next to the noisy motor of the disel bus. The breakfast was simple.

Everyone was Super-friendly & Super-helpful…. From Igle hauling my luggage out of the taxi and up to my room, to Vladimir helping me exchange my Macedonian $$$ to Arte making superb cappuccinos each morning! I’m actually staying there again on SAT!!
