The room is nicely laid out with a decent sized balcony. The shower worked well, although somewhat compact

our laundry came in at 109 euros for a small load, therefore best not to use if possible

The hotel itself wasn’t anything special. The friendly staff is what made it stand out. The room smelt a bit of toilet, and to be honest I think the hotel was a bit too pricey for what you got. But overall, still ok considering the other hotels are quite pricey in Alghero

We had a lively stay at this hotel. Some things are a bit dated and need improving, but it was very clean, and what really made it great was the staff. The two things I would improve are as follows- all pillows are memory foam and are terrible. New soft pillows would be great. Also hair conditioner is greatly needed! Other than those two things- wonderful stay!

Tina was a wonderful host, responsive and attentive.
The apartment was clean and spacious. Location was also excellent with beautiful views of the beach
The only slight issue was the noise. Road traffic noise , drilling from nearby building works from 7am and at night the music from the cocktail bar opposite.
Obviously this is outside of the host’s control and was only a minor issue for us.

Our main difficulty was in obtaining bus tickets which we were told by reception would be available at tobacconists. On the whole they were not and we had to resort to a taxi to visit the old town. Otherwise it was a great stay.

Everything was great except for the weirdness where they control the temperature and lights in your room. Unless you’re in your room with your room key, like let’s say your partner is running somewhere, the lights go off. When I called them however, they adjusted the settings so I can still control the lights. We did ask them to set the temperature lower so that was unique as well. Besides that the breakfast is amazing, service was friendly. We are AMEX platinum users and we didn’t get the perks so that was our only complaint as well. They weren’t even aware that AMEX was associated with their place.

The hotel is nicely situated across from the beach and walking to the city center was nice. It is definitely not a 4 start property. The bathroom has no ventilation and a sewer smell, but it has a small window unfortunately without a net, so keeping it open to get some air meant letting bugs in.
Breakfast was good. I wish there was a notice at the room minibar with pricing for the products inside. There was no indication that you have to pay for water, we became aware of that at the checkout. Parking was expensive and the promised credit for the VIP Expedia member was not given.
Nice hotel but definitely not worth the money paid.

A bit shocked at the cost of this hotel for what we got. Almost €1,700 for a week in the most tiny, basic room we have ever seen. Zero perks, not so much as a bottle of water on check in. I raised this with the lady at reception but they did not seem to care and nothing was done.

We booked mainly because of the rooftop pool however on inspection, this was unheated so effectively unusable. As someone who lives swimming, I couldn’t even swim in the pool once which was very disappointing.

Breakfast was nice and the ladies who served the breakfast were all lovely and very cheerful. However, we will definitely not be returning here due to the crazy price and zero perks.

The Hotel is modern, well decorated , bar, gym, clean, excellent breakfast indoor/outdoor on the 4th floor, rooftop pool with panoramic views of the Bay/ Scogliera di Capo Caccia, very close to the beach, a 15 mins walk to the Old Town. Car parking on site. Staff are courteous & helpful.
Due to the unavailability of a room in the Hotel, we availed of an Apt in the Hotels Apt Building some 300 metres away, in the direction of the Old Town, which was modern well decorated/clean/ secure & close to the beach. We had full access to all the Hotel’s facilities with an excellent /varied breakfast at a cost of €10 per person.

I was in an apartment about 300 metres from the hotel. Unlike the hotel this is on the main road so very noisy. The cafe/bar kiosk opposite the apartment played very loud music continuously until 2 am on Saturday.

Amazing hotel on the strip, 15 minute walk to the centre of the old town in alghero.

Reception staff and breakfast staff very friendly and helpful (big shout out to Laura and Rosa who were just brilliant every morning at the breakfast buffet, chatty bubbly and very welcoming).

Lovely rooftop pool with amazing views of the bay and the sunsets are magical.

Stayed in deluxe room with partial sea view, very comfy bed and rainfall shower in ensuite bathroom. Room cleaned daily. Very clean and modern room.

We loved this hotel, will definitely be coming back again from Ireland.

2 min walk to beach. They offer beach towels in the same text as other complementry services like roof terrace but never mentioned there was a €3 charge per towel until the point you collect them. The first room we stayed had badly cracked patio glass door, which they said they were aware, also a floor light that didn't work. They did give us an alternate room after 1st night. The 2nd room we stayed the hair dryer didn’t work. The rooms themselves are clean and modern, if only they fix and maintain to normal expectations it could be more pleasant.
Hotel signage at the front of drive was also broken. The drive / walk way to the hotel has a lot of cats and cat food bowls. The unfixed broken things and walkway give the feel of 3.5 star not a well maintained 4 star.

Nice hotel for a beach vacation.

The hotel was in a great location right across from the beaches. The old town was a 20-22 minute walk away which was a little long but good exercise after sitting on the beach all day. The hotel itself was functional. It was clean, helpful and friendly staff, and the breakfast was good. We did not spend time at the pool as the little shade that was available was taken both times we went. However, we really enjoyed the beach which was right across the street

An Outstanding Stay

I really loved this hotel - it gets all the important things right.

Service friendly and professional - from the reception staff to the breakfast ladies to the people cleaning the rooms. The latter were super-slick, with that ability to notice when you'd gone for breakfast and have the room sparkling on your return!

Breakfast itself was simple but good. Great, fresh scrambled eggs, which is always how I judge a hotel breakfast! The breakfast room is on a high floor with stunning ocean views, and breakfast is served until 11, which is great for later risers like me.

Alghero is lovely and laid-back off season. Not a huge amount to do in the local area, but the city centre is an easy 10 minute walk away, and there are three supermarkets within 5 mins.

Only a couple of negatives: the local drains smell pretty bad at certain times and you get the smell in the bathroom. It didn't bother me but it may concern those more sensitive to such things. I also got an electric shock from one of the juicers at breakfast - it was immediately removed so I'm sure it was a one off. It certainly woke me up!

All in all, I really enjoyed my time at the Alma Di Alghero and I'm sure I'll be back. Everything from the decor of the room to the unexpected side sea-view from my balcony exceeded by expectations.

After looking at the property from the outside we thought every room would have a balcony. We checked in, got room 203 and was disappointed in every sense. Okay, no balcony, which I found amazing compared to the outside view. They must have just squeezed the room in after all others were done. It was tiny, not appropriate for a couple. The shower room was so small. You have to sit at an angle to use the toilet. The walls must be paper thin, you will hear EVERYTHING outside, up, down, left, & right of you. We could hear EVERYONE & EVERYTHING! It’s such a same, because it is clean, staff are friendly and helpful, breakfast was nice and the pool on the top floor was nice (despite not being heated, as advertised!) would not stay again just because of the rooms. The parking charge at €15 per day is far too overpriced!

Love this place!

I just can’t help going back to this wonderful hotel and I’ve been going there since 2007.
Super-friendly staff, excellent breakfast, unbelievably convenient location that makes everything accessible on foot... The room we had this time around had a direct sea view; not a single downside and they’re constantly getting better. I recommend it without any reservations.

Great hotel, worth the extra £s

Fantastic week in Alghero with Alma! We received a warm welcome from all the staff, who were always on hand to offer help and advice on the local area/things to do. Tina was especially helpful in organising some excursions for us (hire car, cooking course, bike tour). The room was a good size for the price and well air conditioned. We came back one afternoon to find a complimentary bottle of fizz in our room! Breakfast every day was lovely and the view from the rooftop pool is excellent! Our balcony didn't have the best of views as it was at the back, but that was probably the only downside. The hotel is set back from the busy main road, so nice and quiet, but still very close to the beach, local shops, beachfront bars and a 15 minute walk from the historical centre of Alghero which we fell in love with. Would absolutely recommend.

Plenty of parking in the streets around the hotel.
The bath rooms lack shelves and towel hangers, so all towels and other utems must be..... somewhere..

A Nice Hotel With A Bad Room

This, at first sight, is a nice hotel. A smart reception area, a nice roof pool area, a really good Italian breakfast in a very nice breakfast area. The reception staff were, in the main, very pleasant and friendly.
For me the hotel was let down by, what I hope is, the worst room in the hotel. The room we were supplied was supposed to be a superior room but I cannot say it was. The decor was pleasant but had been damaged by a leak through the ceiling which was not repaired well. The air conditioning system was clearly old and extremely noisy.

The bathroom, which at first looked good was, in reality, not very good at all. The shower door was almost coming off and one the wheels that it ran on was missing. The shower tray leaked for hours after the shower was used. Hot water in the shower was unreliable and it appeared that, if the sun was not shining hot water was in short supply or took many minutes to make it up to our room. On a couple of occasions the water was not hot enough to shave with and I had to boil a kettle to get water hot enough. When I mentioned this to one of the receptionists that I had to do this her answer was that \"that was what I would have to do\".
The toilet and the bidet were both not fixed in place properly and wobbled disconcertingly.
The room we had was also uncomfortably noisy from hotel machinery noise. I later found out the air conditioning heat-exchanger was on the next floor immediately above the room and the noise was caused by the fans.

This hotel should be rated as a two star hotel. It is a very modest design, and the rooms are very tinl, we could not believe our eyes, it was rather the closet size, not a bedroom size. The hotel was not supposed to charge a deposit as per expedia booking, but the hotel demanded the credit card details over the phone, which did not seem to be appropriate. There was nothing served in the \"buffet\". There were only boiled eggs, bans and milk.

The moment we arrived at Alma di Alghero hotel we were disappointed. While very near the beach, it was behind the main street on an unattractive alley of sorts. Our \"Deluxe, Sea View\" room overlooked a parking lot with a small \"peak-a-boo\" view of the sea. We booked last minute and there were no appealing options in the historic center and knew this hotel was a walk to the center, but did not imagine the area would be so lacking in charm. The worst part was the fact that the AC in our room #302 did not work and how poorly it was handled. Upon heading out to dinner we informed the friendly front desk associate Luisa and she insisted that the AC was working but \"it can only get so cool when the weather is hot\". It was a 90F degree day. I imagine her response was one management coaches employees to give because they know AC in some rooms is unreliable. I explained that we have visited much hotter places with working AC (The Middle East, Africa). I insisted she have someone look into it. When we returned it was not fixed. A kind night manager, Giancarlo let us leave our luggage in our room and sleep in a very basic room with actual working AC, but we still felt like vagabonds. I asked Hotels.com to look into a refund and the hotel rejected our claims. I then called the hotel directly and was treated very rudely over the phone by a Manager, Carla, who told me I occupied two rooms and hung up on me. Avoid this hotel! I imagine the hotel's response here should be entertaining!

Lovely hotel close to beach. Lovely walk along promenade to old city. Staff were really friendly and took time out to ask about your day. Rooms were spotless. Good size swimming pool with spectacular views. Only gave 4 for room comfort and bathroom is rather small hard to manovre around but again very clean.

Overall a pretty nice experience. The pool was not clean and out of order for the first half of our trip. The beaches in front of the hotel are less than desirable but the hotel is located in a perfect place to drive to really nice beaches in 10 minutes. Staff at the hotel were very accommodating and made our stay very comfortable. The listing says the rooms had AC but our experience was they only had heating. There were a couple warm days that AC would've been nice and despite the best efforts from the front desk they could only get the heater to work.

Everybody was unbelievably helpful and just kind. When we got there, very late at night, the crib for the little one was already there, which is not, far from it, the case in some five-star hotels! We loved it!

Nice hotel, not quite a 4 Star

The hotel was nice, rooms were large, big flat screen TV, but only one English channel. Not many bars nearby to choose from, some lovely restaurants. Recommend Los Arenes if you are gluten free. Great views from the rooftop pool and the breakfast terrace. The hotel has a restaurant 25 minutes walk away in the old town, which we were advised is very expensive. As the pool is on the roof, no parasols for shade, just a blind attached to the sunbeds that you could pull over to cover your head.

Barking dogs and unhelpful staff

We were excited about this stay and the pictures made it look great. However, the service from the front desk was sub-par, barking dogs in kennels below the room, and the desk person said she'd never heard dogs, and said everyone had already checked in and that we couldn't be moved (really 8 minutes after checkin all guests had arrived? She said \"Yes!\") Unlikely story. We were very glad we only stayed one night. It was nice to use the rooftop pool for a bit, but other than that we were in town and then checked out early to move on. Also, on checkout I noticed a large pool of water in the main walkway in the lobby, right next to the front desk area and that water was leaking from the ceiling. I pointed this out (thinking this is a safety liability for someone slipping and hurting themselves), and the front desk woman said, yes, it is fine we are monitoring it. Oi.

Nice hotel near the beach

This is a very nice hotel set back from the main road and very close to the beach. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. They offer a really good choice at breakfast and the rooftop pool, although small, is lovely. They have really nice touches like fresh grapes in your room, and a bag of Sardinian chocolates which they left on the last day. It's about a 15-20 minute walk to the old town of Alghero, but if you want to be close to the beach, you will end up staying a walk away. Would highly recommend this hotel if you're staying in Alghero and will definitely be back!

Nice hotel close to the beach

A good hotel with a beach accessible within a few minutes. Very nice pool on the rooftop of the hotel with a view of the beach. Really good gym facilities and also a games room with a table tennis table. The hotel is a 20 minute walk to Alghero Old Town, but there are still a number of bars and restaurants in the vicinity.

It is recommended that a massage is booked upto 48hours in advance, but I would suggest do it asap as availability is very limited.

The breakfast had a variety of sweet food like cakes and biscuits, but I didn't feel the quality or options of food was great.

Overall a great stay and would stay here again in the future.

This was our third time to Alghero,each time we have stayed in different accommodation. But next time we will go back to the Alma Hotel.
The room was very spacious, we could sit at side early evening for drinks. Fresh fruit delivered to your room daily. After a day at the Bach we came back to a complementary bottle of wine. This was a very nice surprise. Plenty of restaurants to choose from within a 20 mins walk.Alghero is a very relaxing and friendly place to visit.

The twin room was a lot smaller than I imagined, & the beds seemed to be smaller than a normal single bed. However, the room was clean, well decorated & the beds were comfortable. I made a mistake in thinking that there was a kettle in the room, but this is only for the better rooms. I asked at reception if I could have a kettle, & the receptionist kindly supplied us with one, together with tea & coffee. I doubt if they would be able to do this in high season.
Breakfast is a self service buffet with plenty of choice. It was lovely to sit outside eating breakfast, looking out to sea.
The staff are very friendly & helpful.

A hotel with excellent service and good location

We really liked the hotel and service was excellent very friendly staff and they gave us complimentary drinks on the final night which was a very nice gesture. The location excellent and good for being mid way between the best beach (Maria Pia beach) and Alghero old town. The swimming pool has a great view overlooking the sea. Initially, we were disappointed at the beach by hotel, but found a 20 minute walk to Maria Pia which was one of the nicest beaches that I have been to... The only feedback I would give is that breakfast was a bit basic for a 4 star hotel (continental, but not much variety on cold meats for example), but on final day there were some cooked sausages and different cheese which was an improvement so it might have been because we stayed in the off season.

Really great place to stay in Alghero - not far from old town or the sandy beaches. Breakfast was good, stunning pool witha view on the roof - warning though - it's not heated!!

Decent comfortable hotel

We stayed for a week in March 2016. Hotel staff all very friendly. The room was decent and clean with sky tv and kettle for tea/ coffee. Buffet breakfast in a conservatory type area on the top floor. There was an outdoor swimming pool but too cool to use this time of year. We did make use of the table tennis table in the basement were there is also gym equipment.

The hotel was modern & well furnished. Clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. We visited out of season and although the room was warm, the bathroom had no heating and was therefore cold. I am sure during the season the room would be ideal for those wanting a beach holiday with a town in close vicinity to find a restaurant.

Friendly warm hotel

Very pleasant few days spent in mid February. Good location, a nice ten minute walk along the beach front to the main area of town which is charming and friendly. Only locals around in February which is the way I like it. Apparently much busier in July and August. Weather was pretty unpleasant, but it was February, and didn't affect the trip. Lovely hotel with helpful and friendly staff. Simple but tasty breakfast and good facilities for a small hotel. We also hired a car and did a day trip to Calgiari, initially down the coast road which was truly spectacular.

Great hotel right across the street from the beach

They obviously spent a huge amount of money on this place - everything was spotless, beautiful and new. My shower was so nice I couldn't wait to get in (room 401). I had a great view of the beach. The room was gorgeous. The bed was really comfortable and had the greatest sheets ever. Great, delicious, assortment for breakfast. Don't forget to check out the pool on the roof.
Unfortunately, the hotel was practically the only clean building I saw in the city. Lots of graffiti and trash throughout - maybe they clean up for tourist season? I wasn't charged for parking but my bill did say 15 Euro per day for parking - something to keep an eye out for during tourist season. The parking lot is dark at night - don't leave anything in your car.

Great location opposite the beach without being on the main drag. Staff very friendly and helpful and the room was clean with an undercover balcony. 10 min walk to Old Town and marina. Enjoyed my stay at Alma Di Alghero.

Great stay at the Alma Hotel, Alghero, Sardinia

I spent 6 glorious days in Alghero. The Alma Hotel was perfectly located across the road from the beach which we enjoyed walking along early in the morning and watching the sunsets at dusk. It was approximately a 20 min pleasant walk along the esplanade to the old city which has numerous restaurants that were all of a wonderful standard and great service. The staff at the Alma went out of their way day and night answering our enquiries about day trips booking taxis. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were spotless, comfortable and modern decor, with a balcony facing the ocean. Breakfast was a wonderful choice of eggs, cheeses, cakes, breads, tomatoes, cereals etc. Plenty to energise you for the day. My daughter trains every day and the gym was better than most hotel gyms. The roof top pool is a perfect way to unwind after a full day of sightseeing. Views over the bay from the roof top area are majical. We didnt make time to use the bike rental on the premisses. Overall our stay was a very special reunion trip with my daughter who lives in London and I live in Australia. We couldnt have desired any better accommodation and amazing staff. Highly recommend the Alma to my friends and readers of this review.

Best hotel in the region -great beachside location

We had a lovely stay. When we arrived the staff were lovely and friendly but on seeing our room in the bowels of the hotel we asked to move. As they were fully booked (always a good sign), we had to wait a day, but the new room was lovley and much brighter. Cannot fault the cleanliness of the hotel or the location, but breakfast wasn't great as there was a lack of hot food. Most days there were hard boiled eggs and German style frankfurters and that was it.

We stayed in this hotel on the begining of June, this is not a 4 star hotel only 3, we payed 920eu for 7 nights in standard room on the grand floor, we was really disappointed because was not worth, we check the prices nearest hotels was really cheeper, great rooftop pool but no umbrellas!!!, pool water freezing and smelly chlorine, breakfast is not european every day you have hard-boiled eggs and sausages if you weak up early 7;30 you can get scrambled eggs and most important thing breakfast is on the terrace in full sun so after 5 minutes you have enough, is really clean but to have 4 star this is normal, I do not want to write stupid things but when I was in Rome just after Alghero in a 4 star hotel EcoHotel amazing so I think AlamaDiAlghero only 3 stars!!!

Great Hotel

Nice hotel, facing the beach, only 10 mins walk to the old town. Visit rosy and tony, 14 via simone in the old town for great home cooked food at a great price. Visit the fruit market around the corner for delicious fruits, take a right from the fruit market to ciro for the best coffee and cakes in town, then down to piazza civica for the nicest ice cream on the island. The people are very friendly and welcoming. Be careful if you hire a car as you are not allowed to enter the old town after 2pm, if you do you will receive a fine. Nice marina and beach. Bosa (south of alghero) is a nice town to visit, the scenery is really nice on the way.

Beautiful hotel near the beach

Lovely hotel. Truly a 4 star. Great rooftop terrace with pool. Clean rooms, helpful staff. Great breakfasts with lots to choose from (eggs, croissants, toast, cold cuts, fruit, jam, etc) and all types of beverages. Walking distance to the historic quarters and close to the touristy attractions. However: It was much too cold in the room. We were truly freezing. The staff only successfully rectified the matter on our very last day (out of 7!), so it was quite unpleasant to stay in the room.

Not quite a sea view and the rooms a little basic which is a shame as it does have a lot going for it. Nice looking hotel just off the main road and fifteen minute walk to town. Good choice for buffet breakfast wifi and roof top pool . Bike hire is a bit of an exaggeration if you see them but there is a good hire shop in the old town . Overall would stay there again...

Hotel was clean, but had quite a clinical feel to it. We found the beds uncomfortable, and the air conditioning was noisy. The walls seemed thin as we could hear next door snoring all night. The toilet roll holder in our room was broken, the floors always seemed to have lots of bits on them in our room. The hotel staff were friendly enough, but didn't make you feel very welcome. The staff in the breakfast room and cleaning staff were cheerful. Breakfasts were very good, there was a good selection. The fruit in the room each day was a nice touch. The small cartons of UHT milk in the room on 2 occasions had gone off - so that was unpleasant when I tried to make coffee. We had a nice sea view from the balcony, and the pool and gym were really good, although sadly the pool being too cold to go in at this time of year. On the whole the hotel was pleasant but forgettable.

Nice hotel, close to the beach

The hotel was really friendly, lots of nice touches e.g. bikes for rent. Staff were great, breakfast was pretty good (nice coffee), rooms were clean, comfy bed, nice balcony and great showers. Also if needed the wifi connection was excellant. Some lovely sunsets to be had from the roof top pool.

Weekend in Alghero

One building back off sea frony, worth asking for odd number room as they have side sea views from balcony. Large roon, nice terrace with pool on roof. OK buffer breakfast. Visit the Grotto di Nettuno, simply great - 50 min bus journey

Excellent seafront hotel

I liked everything about this hotel, staff, rooms, location, food. Staff are very, very helpful with directions etc and all speak perfect English. Located just behind the seafront but some rooms have a view. only 1 min walk to the beach and 15 minutes to Old Town and marina. My advice is to hire a car to explore as Alghero is not large.

this is not a 4* hotel. and actually on the sign in front it is 3*. as far as i understand, part of the hotel was renovated, but not the room we stayed in. the room was ok for 3*. toilet paper holder was loose and towel holder kept falling down. room was clean, but by some reason cleaning ladies removed waterproof disposable sheets from our kids' beds and we noticed right before we put them to sleep. a bit of a disaster for not 100% potty trained children, who refuse to put nappies. otherwise cannot blame the hotel: free wi-fi, apples and sweets in the lobby, ripe pears daily in the room. location is brilliant. swimming pool not heated (way too cold in october, so cluld not use). breakfast great.

Ideal location for beach and old town

Enjoyed a four night stay at the Alma in October. We found the staff extremely helpful and friendly and all had perfect English. The room was nice and big with a nice size balcony. The only irritating thing was the noise from the breakfast room which was directly over head - scraping of chairs woke us up in the mornings at approx 7.30. We hired a car directly from the hotel and this was very handy. The hotel is just across the road from the beach and a short walk form the historic old town. Would definitely go back.
