I got exactly what I wanted out of my four day stay. Staff were excellent. The place itself was very peaceful, quiet and a nice place to relax in the warmth. With Fertillia a very short walk away with some local bars with good quality reasonably priced food and beer. Alghero an easy walk or bus ride away.

This property is located a short distance from town. It is lovely, quiet, and scenic. There is a gorgeous pool area and a beach. Lounge chairs and umbrellas are available at both the pool and the beach. We walked to restaurants nearby. Great place!

Hotel is in a beautiful location, albeit not near much else. The small town is about a 10minute walk away with a few shops and restaurants. The hotel restaurant food was good, with the chefs cooking on coals outside which was a nice bit of evening restaurant theatre, the service was very friendly - though sometimes a little bit slow. Breakfast was good. The hotel is a little bit dated with some areas (room balcony for example, and room keys still being actual keys on huge key rings) in need of some cleaning/updates. The only odd thing was signs on the mini bar fridge saying outside food and drink would be confiscated - seemed a bit unnecessary. Overall a very beautiful location with very friendly and efficient staff - the beach was great, always sunbeds available

On the other hand we were given a room that overlooked the back of the house kitchen area and it wasn’t great because of the noise and staff coming and going movement.

Terrible beach

We chose this hotel because of its location overlooking a beach as we wouldn’t have any transport. However, the beach did not look like the beautiful white sandy pictures portrayed when booking. We found a horrible stinking mess which rendered the beach unusable. Although we were told it was seaweed washed up over winter, it should have been removed prior to the arrival of paying guests rather than half hearted attempts of removal during the week we stayed. We were unable to have breakfast on the terrace due to the sewage smell from the beach. Our beach holiday was non existent. Nearby beaches required a car to reach as they were beyond a short walk away. We found the hotel lovely, staff friendly and food was excellent as would be expected at a 4star hotel but felt badly let down by the state of the beach, which left us feeling we had paid a lot of money for a beach which didn’t exist.

Great, relaxing stay. Hotel located at the coast with private beach within walking distance of Fertilia and with great footpaths to explore other beaches. Restaurant, bar, pool and room all had great views over the bay. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.
Only negative is that the hotel is under the flight path for Alghero hotel. When we stayed there were hardly any flights and we rarely noticed them, but could be a problem post-Covid.

I stayed at the Punta Negra with my wife and three kids, and we had a wonderful time. The front-desk staff were very friendly and made us feel welcomed for all questions and requests. The rooms were clean, and the waterfront view like a postcard. The beachfront and pools provided plenty of entertainment for the kids, and the short proximity to the public beaches allowed for a nice change of setting. A very nice hotel for families, which I happily recommend.

Don't stay here. Worst smell I can imagine.

We were very much looking forward to our stay at hotel punta negra, with the good reviews and beautiful photos of white sand they falsly advertise. Upon our arrival the beach was 3meters high of rotten seaweed. We paid for a seaview room but couldn't sit outside as the smell was the worst sewage smell I could ever imagine, it was a worse sewage smell than the depths of Shanghai, it made us both vomit. The restaurant is very bad and the most expensive in all of alghero. The taxis are very expensive from this hotel, every taxi we tried all start at €26, a 3 mile taxi will be €30. if you want to have good food you need to go into alghero, you can't walk as its not safe and a taxi will be over €60 everyday as the hotel restaurant is no good. The pool and rooms were very clean. If you stay here you need a car if you want to go anywhere. Better to just stay in alghero. There is nothing in fertillia.

A very nice hotel, stunning pools

Rooms are ok, not amazing but the hotels outside space makes up for it. The pools are just beautiful, and very well maintained. Good breakfast and very good food and service in the restaurant. The beach was awful after a storm, and we weren’t advised of this prior to arrival. This had been the main appeal for us. Didn’t spoil our stay.

Great hotel; stayed 6 nights (June) & we would definitely stay here again. Pros: friendly staff, very clean and bright hotel, amazing infinity pool, well-kept grounds. Great breakfast spread & gorgeous terrace views. The restaurant was delicious (a little pricey for the area, but worth it). Two min drive to beautiful beaches, quick ten minute drive to downtown Alghero & the quaint 'centro storico' (historic center) by the harbor (amazing restaurants here as well). Cons: The beach is not as pictured (apparently due to a storm that washed away the beautiful white sand in May. It would have been nice to be notified of this as we booked primarily for the private white sandy beach (which is not white sand or private). The water was still clear and they were making daily efforts to clean up seaweed and algae. Initially we were put in a very tiny room on the ground floor looking at the parking lot and couldn't use the terrace (or open the doors) since people in the parking lot could see in despite having paid quite a lot for our room ($350/night). We ended up speaking to reception that night and were upgraded to a sea view room for an additional $50 per night which we felt should have been complimentary based on the price we paid (friends of ours joined us there and booked last minute - they got a sea view room for $130 per night LESS than what we paid. NOTE: The sea view is worth it! Overall had a great stay.

Pleasant & Relaxing Stay!

This hotel is in a great location! I really enjoyed being just outside the downtown of Alghero, while still being close enough to access the city or explore other little towns. The entire staff at this hotel, from the front desk to the dining room, to the bar manager/bartenders and cleaning staff - they are all incredibly accommodating and nice! The rooms were super clean and spaciousness, however the beds were pretty firm and the pillows were very flat so sleeping was not as comfortable as I would have liked. The Sea View rooms are definitely worth it - especially the ones on the 3rd floor which have their own patio overlooking the water. Access to the beach was quick & easy, however the beach doesn't quite look the same as what the pictures show. It is more of a rocky sand beach, a bit smaller than advertised, and there weren't any chairs or lounges out the entire week we were there to use on the beach. It is possible that the time of year plays into this piece, however I didn't see it advertised anywhere so not sure.

June is a slower tourist month in Sardinia so our timing for the trip was great! We did a breakfast/dinner inclusive stay and the food offerings were tasty & even being allergic to most seafood, I had a lot of options for this being a coastal city. There is no elevator access here, so if it is difficult for someone to get around up and down the stairs all day, this could be a challenge here. All around, this was a great hotel and beautiful location!

Lovely pool and views. Close to Alghero & airport - would recommend hiring a car as a lot of places to see you have to drive to. There is a bus service, and because I went late May it was not as regular as it would be between mid-June and mid-Sept so made it a bit tricky to get around. Staff are very nice and helpful, good with children. Because we were off season hotel was a bit quiet and not many other kids, which was a bit disappointing, but I am sure if you went later in the summer it would have a different feel. Only major disappointment was the beach - it was unusable (due to lots of algae which I understand is out of their control!), but that was a bit selling point for us so it was a shame not to be able to use it.

The Hotel Punta Negra is a wonderful place to choose if you want a quiet, relaxing time. I couldn't fault it in any way. All the staff are friendly and very helpful, the hotel is spotlessly clean with immaculate gardens. Breakfast was varied and plentiful (we didn't dine in the restaurant in the evenings). The pool area is also very clean with plenty of sunbeds and large umbrellas.
Excellent value for money....would definitely recommend staying here.

Absolutely superb - cannot rate this hotel highly enough. The staff were beyond helpful & friendly and did all they could to make our week's holiday enjoyable. The hotel is extremely well furnished and so clean and tidy. Fantastic pool area & such easy access to the beautiful beach. We stayed for a week as the last week in August and nowhere was too busy or overcrowded. The pool area was so relaxing and comfortable. Overall I can honestly say this hotel is exceptional & I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. The airport is just a 6 minute drive and there is a regular daily bus that can take you to Alghero for a change of scenery. The only very , very small negative would be that the pillows were not very comfortable & the beds a little hard but otherwise outstanding

This hotel is good as fellow travellers state but what let's it down is the beach
It shows white Sands but it's not and so small you fight for space for your sunbed
The sea is full of gravel and pebbles when you first go in and so not quite as it appears in the brochure
The steps down to the beach are not good if you have any mobility issues but their is a pool and a fab infinity pool
Staff are great and hotel clean
Reception staff very helpful
Over all a great place to stay

Since hotel has not requested review I would add that:-
Room lighting too dim for reading
Instructions needed in room on operating switches - i learned too late a table lamp switch was 3 metres away
In room 204 some power sockets seem intermittent: could be our UK adaptor plugs but they have not given trouble elsewhere
Room instructions booklet is too lightweight anyway - more info on hotel and locality needed
Dining on restaurant terrace great except hotel does not control wasps and flies effectively
Breakfast menu seems v good for continental europeans but talk to brits about what could be added
Restaurant staff service & attention is excellent
Cleanliness standards outstanding esp. in public areas
Swimming pools are sensational to look at but not heated

Enjoyed a lovely relaxing week here, and would return. The staff were helpful and charming, and the hotel was kept spotlessly clean. The views out to see and across the bay to Alghero were amazing, and we liked the coastal walks too. The situation (and guests!)was quiet, and the private beach area was respected. Intermittent plane noise was not an issue, and a car was helpful, though not essential. Food was plentiful and typical of the area. Could have done without the 'musak' in the lounge.

The staff are super friendly and helpful and the views at this hotel are simply jaw-dropping. Having breakfast (which was delicious) with this view or swimming in the stunning infinity pool looking out over that view was incredible.
The room was nice and had everything you needed in it. The only issue I had was the flat pancake pillows which were uncomfortable and the half eaten and rotten plate of cherries that had been in the fridge since time immemorial. Otherwise it was a perfect place to stay at and I loved every minute of it!

Pleasant stay in a lovely setting

Comfortable but not luxurious accommodation. It's location and staff are its best assets. Service was friendly and attentive. Food generally OK but not exceptional. Hotel within walking distance of Fertilia from where buses run regularly into Alghero and from there to other places. Also airport bus stops there.

We did the open top bus tour from Fertilia which was interesting. Hotel staff were helpful in organising other excursions locally.

Fab holiday!

We wanted a relaxing holiday and that's what we got! Everything was perfect ! Pools were great , food was excellent and rooms clean ( fresh sheets and towels every day) and the staff were really friendly. Private beach was also lovely. A quick flight and under 10 minutes from the airport made this ideal for a hassle free holiday . We can't wait to go back!

10 minutes drive from Alghero Airport. There is a bus, about every hour, from the Airport to Fertilia and then it is a 10 minute walk from there. Alternatively, taxi fare to/from the Airport fairly reasonable. Easy to access and easy to locate.The hotel is away from the main road, protected by trees and millions of very loud crickets, so no issues with the noise from the traffic.

One reasonably sized main swimming pool (with a baby pool attached), an infinity pool with a beautiful view, tennis court and a private beach which is right by a public beach and is therefore not very secluded. There is a sewage smell on the beach which is attributed to the seaweeds. It might be a seasonal issue. Unlike many other places there are ample sun beds and towels. There is a bar and a restaurant. Lots of information about tours and activities at reception.

Room spacious, beautifully decorated and clean. Airconditioning. Large comfortable bed. Very clean and adequately sized ensuite. A good sized balcony. Rooms were cleaned daily.

Food is exquisite at this place! We had breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks and everything was truly exceptional. Shame about the service. With the exception of breakfasts, which were self service, on every single occasion we had a meal or a snack or a drink; something was forgotten including a whole course one evening.

Reception staff very competent and helpful. Fluent in English. Restaurant staff; forgetful and negligent on the verge of rude.

A pleasant stay in Sardinia

Good hotel with nice staff, in a good location, not far away from the airport. I will only mention here the few drawbacks: the smell of sulphur in the morning (probably from the algues accumulating on the beach, although there was a staff to clean them each day); no SKY TV in the rooms in fact, despite what is announced on the website (we wanted to see some football matches from the Champions League (!) and we were told it was impossible in the room (they ofered some common room downstairs instead); and - last but not least - it was the only hotel I've been in that didn't offer some complimentary bottle of champagne or wine or even some fruits to the guests having birthday during their stay in the hotel :-)

Enjoyed our stay at the hotel as the rooms were nice and clean with a lovely sea view plus the staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel is approx ten minutes drive from Alghero so hiring a car or bike is really your best option as you do not want to rely on public transport (bus is every hour from Fertillia which is where the hotel is located). If you want to see the sights of Sardinia then a car or bike is a necessity anyway.
The people of Sardinia are very nice and seem quite laid back with it all. Some great seafood restaurants all over the place.
Would suggest just jumping in the car and seeing where the road takes you as the roads are well signposted and in very good condition.

No english TV channels really and wifi not great but in such lovely surroundings that did not seem important...All in all we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel to anyone. Went for 3 nights bed and breakfast with my children. Lovely clean hotel with absolutely fab pools (not heated so water was cold), very friendly staff especially Antonio. Location of hotel excellent as beachfront. Breakfast was limited as occupancy of hotel was low however upgraded by management to sea view because of this and the view from balcony/room was amazing!! Ask for sea view room. A bit tricky to find hotel if using bus. Unable to use beaches on Island because of algae - advised by locals to go June onwards when beaches will be algae free. Shame we went for beach holiday but couldn't use beaches - would definately love to go again in season.

Beautiful views, lovely pools and comfy beds

Lovely view from sea view rooms - amazing. Room was spotless and comfortable - bedding and towels changed daily so always fresh. The bathroom was great and water always hot. Breakfast was fine with plenty of choice and staff really helpful. Both pools were lovely - big enough to swim in and really well kept with comfy loungers - hotel provides beach towels which is handy. Really convenient for the bus to Alghero centre from Fertilia which is a pleasant 10 minute stroll away. The beach by the hotel was seaweedy but as the season was just starting I am guessing they probably clear it. Really enjoyed our stay here with 2 teenagers - would go back again anytime!!

Best place to relax. You feel at home. Staff are so nice. Sea view is just magnificent.Very accessible to bus going to airport etc incl hop on hop off bus. It only takes few mins walk. There is a supermarket close to the hotel as well. Nice place for biking. I would love to come back again.

Pleasant. Good beach, good pool.

All very acceptable. Good location especially with buses into lively alghero. Worth going into alghero for a meal in the evening and for a boat trip during the day. Thought the hotel was a bit isolated initially but there is a beach bus (limited times) and a regular bus from Fertilia. We went into Alghero on three occasions and it was very easy.
Hotel breakfast was not brilliant as eggs and bacon a bit cold, as was the coffee, but lots of pastries and bread and jam and ham and cheese to keep you going until lunch or beyond. Evening meal - make sure you book the outside restaurant. Inside restaurant had dried up fish platter that was not great.
Swimming pool and beach fantastic, as was the service in the bar.
Would return without question and would highly recommend this hotel.

Loved our stay here.

Beautiful location. Make sure to get a sea view room. the forest view is actually overlooking the parking lot with trees in it. If you don't get a sea view room, you miss much of the charm of the hotel. Going to sleep and waking up to the sound of waves on the shore is very relaxing. Definately recommended. It is a short 10 min drive to Alghero which is nice. It is quiet and peaceful.

Beautiful view of the sea

We enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff. Location wasn't bad. It is close the bus stop and you could easily get on the bus to get to Alghero. Don;t get close to the bar! The service at the bar wasn't good and the prices were ridiculously high!

I had lovely time, the hotel is beautiful but the quality of the breakfast food is very poor. I really think you must improve that. The menu in the restaurant it is too simple.the others services are great and the staff is very nice I will come back but I will go to eat out side if the quality will not change. Thank you

Punta Negra and Surrounding Area

First, the beach ... It took some time to figure out how the chairs worked. We sat in a chair for 45 minutes only to have someone come back and say that was their chair. If there is a blue towel in the chair, then someone is reserving that chair. (According to the staff at Punta Negra is not allowed ... whatever) Best bet, look for a chair with no towel. It was very frustrating that first day trying to understand how the chairs worked.

Second, the bee's ... It seemed no matter where we went in Alghero/Hotel/Fertilia, we were annoyed by a bee.

Third, the food ... Its very good.

Fourth, the staff ... The reception staff at Punta Negra was awesome! Although, the wait staff for breakfast and dinner was much to be desired. I felt like I was a treated like a child.

Hotel Punta Negra - Heaven on Earth

We very much enjoyed the Hotel Punta Negra from the moment we arrived. The registration staff was fun to chat with, and enjoyed our attempts at speaking Italian. It is a must at this hotel, get a sea view room... very much worth the few extra dollars. The hotel is tucked away with its own private little beach in a cove, so it is very quiet. There are two pools and a tennis court as well. We never knew who our room attendant was, but it was nice to receive the little extras when requested... such as extra pillows (a must in Italy, it seems) The restaurant has a great breakfast buffet which is included, we were pretty impressed with it. Over our stay we had dinner twice. One time it was good, the other time it was just OK. About the only flaw I would say about the hotel is the smugness of the Matradee. The servers more than made up for him though, with great personalities and service.

Over all I have to stay that of the hotels we have stayed at, this one has been one of the better. In fact, we had left for an adventure on another part of the island, and then decided we wanted to return to The Hotel Punta Negra for the remainder of our holiday. Which we did, and were greeted with enthusiasm!

Good beach and pool not so good service

The location of Hotel Punta Negra is great. You are not in the heart of Alghero but just outside so it is quiet and relaxing. A short walk to Fertilia for a few restaurants and access to buses. The breakfast was not very good, eggs were greasy, everything was just a little bland and was the same thing over and over again. The night we arrived we were escorted to our room and told about the times of breakfast. There are a lot more things that should have been mentioned to us but weren't. We then went down to have dinner and the servers were very frantic and rushed us, which was a trend at this hotel during dinner time. The food the first night, Thursday, was great but we were not told it was a prefixed menu and all of the sudden food started to appear and we had no idea what we eating or how much it cost. We only ate dinner there one other time and it was very rushed, they woudn't let you sit outside, and it felt like the cafeteria at an retirement home. The beach was nice and they had a few activities to keep you busy. When I asked before we arrived if I should rent a car I was told there was transportation to Alghero at the hotel. They did not tell us it costs five euro and does not run int the afternoon every day. .

The whole ALghero experience was relaxing, serene and very enjoyable.

The hotel is located 10 minutes from Fertilia Airport. There is a free bus from the airport that goes to Fertilia Town which is very small with less than 6 shops. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the town centre and is located at the end of the island on the sea front. The hotel is very clean, quite and the staff were very friendly. All the staff spoke English so directions and advise was not a problem. The hotel is a 3* opposed to 4*, as the mod comms were a bit outdated. However, that did not spoil my experience of peace and relaxation. Would happily return to Hotel Punta Negra just to re-live the experience gained from my last visit. If you are going to Alghero to shop, you may be slightly disappointed as shops are limited in both Fertilia, Alghero or Sassari which is a bigger town 35 minutes on a bus. The restaurants are quite costly and not an enjoyment to experience.

Aus unserer Sicht ist das Hotel in die Jahre gekommen und bräuchte einen Refresh. Die Lage direkt am Meer ist zwar schön, aber ohne Auto ist es schwierig, da es relativ ausserhalb von Alghero liegt.
Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt unserer Meinung nach nicht. Das Essen, insbesondere das „Fisherman Dinner“ für 50 Euro pro Person, entsprach nicht dem Vierstern-Standard – wenig frischer Fisch, vieles wirkte wie Tiefkühlware. Auch das Frühstücksbuffet war enttäuschend: Nach kurzer Zeit fehlten verschiedene Speisen, und die Auswahl war eingeschränkt.
Der Strand ist klein, das Meer trüb und hat für uns unangenehm gerochen; zudem lagen viele Algen. Die Zimmer sind alt, spärlich ausgestattet (kein Kaffee/Tee, kein Freigetränk oder Willkommensgetränk) und wirken abgewohnt. Die Betten waren in Ordnung, aber insgesamt merkt man deutlich, dass das Hotel erneuerungsbedürftig ist.

Muito bem localizado! Com café da manhã excelente, praia e piscina perfeita. Dicas que poderia melhorar o atendimento, poderia ter uns petiscos só longo do dia pra agradar os hóspedes. Único ponto chato foi o gerente ou proprietário do hotel ter sido grosso conosco sobre o uso da toalha do hotel, deveria ser educado e gentil! O atendimento dos funcionários foram execelentes! Parabéns e voltaria com certeza em Sardenha e neste hotel. Obrigado

Staff is very nice and rooms are clean. However, there is no internet in rooms, no cleaning of rooms and breakfast is not good. I think the price is too steep for the property. Staff is great however!

Séjour agréable, le personnel, très attentif à nos besoins, la restauration de qualité, le petit déjeuner était plus-que-parfait. L’emplacement des lieux, rien à redire avec une vue magnifique. La seule remarque négative que je pourrais apporter,c’est l’insonorisation des couloirs qui est un peu faible.

Good hotel on a beautiful location, with a private beach. Staff is friendly and breakfast is good with lots of options. Parking is free and there’s plenty of parking space.

Unfortunately the rooms have little to none sound proof so there’s a lot of noice coming from the hallway and from other rooms. Bathrooms are not exactly 4 star quality, toilet paper is cheap and thin, showers were also old.

Tolle ruhige Lage und aufmerksames Personal

Das Punta negra liegt alleine am Meer und bietet ruhige Entspannung mit toller Sicht. Für Fischliebhaber ist das Restaurant sehr gut, für Kinder eher nichts. Aber die Pizzaria in laufnähe war super und hat mit viel Charme überzeugt.
Wir wussten es sehr zu schätzen das es KEINE Animation und laute Musik abends gab und man mit wenigen Nachbarn einen Cocktail am Meer schlürfen konnte.

Hårda sängar, urdålig frukost. Långt ifrån stan så antingen behöver man bil el ta taxi. Vi hade bil så vet egentligen inte hur det fungerar med taxi. Maten på hotellet är dyr och inte speciellt god. Inredningen är jättegammal så en renovering hade varit bra. AC:n fungerade inte jättebra så rummet var varmt på natten och den stängde av sig. Vi hade lagt till så hade havsutsikt men om du har mot trädgården då hörs det
