We loved this hotel. From our wonderful shuttered room we looked out on the Plaza Mayor, the A1 location in Caceres. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet was delicious. It was everything we could ask for and more.

Perfect location on the Plaza Mayor. All the top sights are within walking distance.
I am traveling by myself and the room was large and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
If I had one critique it would be the breakfast buffet. Perhaps I was late but I didn't go back the second day.

The two complaints I have concern the hair dryer in the bathroom, which stoped working every 30 seconds or so (so it took me over 30 minutes to dry my hair) and no extra blanked or duvet for the bed (we were there in January and it was cold).

Amazing location though car access is tricky. Staff was friendly. My room was clean though very cramped but I chose the cheapest option so knew what I was getting. Fine for a two night stay if you’re just there to sleep otherwise opt for a bigger room.

Perfect location on the main square just outside of the old town. Old, updated building - comfortably and spacious if not of the highest quality. Very reasonable. Excellent and helpful staff. A little bit of a walk to the parking garage, but understandable given the location. Had to convince the garage staff to let me park as the garage was full when we arrived.

hotel was spacious and clean.. location on the old plaza with our view looking towards the old city was great.. bathroom large and surprisingly modern and updated..loved the marble and granite stairway.. nice breakfast area but closed early and seemed too expensive considering multiple restaurants just outside the front door.. BIG downside was getting there in a car.. gps and visual shows a pedestrian walkway with flower pots and outside dining seating.. gps took us up sidewalks .. even after finally finding the hotel the parking garage was a nightmare to find and getting back to the hotel difficult,, a small sign at end of road before the plaza would have made a big difference.. once there though we enjoyed the location ..

Dodgy start but good in the end.

Had a bad start as the room had a very unpleasant smell when we arrived. We wanted to change rooms but they had none left. We went out for dinner feeling concerned - but when we returned 2 hours later the room/bathroom had been sprayed, windows opened - and the smell didn’t return. So all was good in the end, and great service from the front desk.

Hotel almost impossible to get to in a car. Right on Plaza Mayor. Good for sightseeing but bad for noise in room. Hotel itself was good but location makes it extremely noisy in room. Till midnight all restaurants open and after that street cleaning starts. Wuiet time 3-6 AM only.

Every thing was great. Just make sure you point your GPS to the parking garage, not the hotel. Once you've parked, use a map or your phone to guide you through a few narrow streets to the plaza where the hotel is located.

Hotel is in a fantastic location, write on the main square, across from the gate into the old city. Modern hotel with nice room. One weird thing is the door to the bathroom is frosted glass, which is probably fine for a couple but which my son found a bit disconcerting since it didn't completely block vision. Staff helpful. But our air conditioning did not work, and so a night in Spain at the end of July was very uncomfortable. Nice breakfast with good choice of options. Hotel didn't have car parking, but had a deal with a nearby garage for discounted parking. Worked well, especially as I emailed the hotel to get the map to the garage in advance.

Wonderful Hotel on Plaza Major

Very happy with our stay. Excellent location, short walk to El Figon (one of the highly rated restaurants in Caseres). Nicely renovated rooms (strong shower, comfortable beds). Website could be clearer about accessing location by car to facilitate dropping off luggage, given that parking is several blocks away.

City-centre hotel in Caceres, Spain

I chose this hotel based on its location in the heart of the old town of Caceres (on the side of the Plaza Mayor) and the reviews left by other travellers. We liked the modern rooms inside the old building and the fresh decor. The reception staff were young and hepful. Our booking included breakfast which we enjoyed. The only problem we had was getting to the hotel by car as the road signs to the hotel pre-dated the conversion of some streets to pedestrians only and Google maps didn't help, either. Having enquired about the parking arrangements before we travelled we just parked at the appointed car park and walked to the hotel. The hotel reception staff said that full details of how to access the hotel by car are on the hotel website, so research that before travelling!

Lovely small hotel

Casa Don Fernando is in an original palacio in the plaza Mayor of Caceres. This means it is right in the heart of the town, giving fantastic access to the old walled centre, literally right across the plaza. We were impressed with our room and the overall hotel (we had a superior room). Our room was thoughtfully decorated, and the overall internal appearance of the hotel was smart, respectful of the building, but also interesting and modern. We really enjoyed staying here (and after travelling for the past several months, this statement means what it says). HINT: As the hotel is in the Plaza Mayor and in an old building, its parking is not adjacent. Our GPS had great trouble finding the place, and our booking voucher did not give coordinates. Have a good look at the website for the hotel rather than relying on booking agencies, as you will find both a map and instructions on how to unload suitcases and find parking.

My husband and I spent only one night in Cáceres, on the way from Madrid to Lisbon, and loved the place. This hotel is right at the Plaza Mayor, surrounded by nice bars and restaurants where you can experiment tasty tapas. You can go anywhere in the historic part of town just walking. If you get there by car, it may be a little hard to find (our GPS went crazy for a moment). The room was a little small, but very nice, new and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, a wonderful experience!

Very polite and professional staff and a high standard of decor and cleanliness - very attractive. The room was rather warm on arrival but cooled after opening the window and the bed was very comfortable. Pictures on the wall could have more sense of place as Cáceres is such a distinctively beautiful city but the staircase is a delight.

Location, location. location.

The hotel is very difficult to access by car but a staff member kindly offered to accompany us in our car to the local car park from a nearby road and even carried heavy bags for us. One can park in the side street to load/unload if one can find it and get the bollard lowered. It is exceptionally well placed for the world heritage site which is easily accessed on foot and a delight to explore. This is balanced by the noise of students up to 2am at local bars. That of course means a good choice of local food and drink for guests too. Hotel breakfast featured a wide range of acceptable food and is plentiful but is served by a gentleman who also cleans up and never seems to wash his hands! Also the kitchen staff smoke at the kitchen door which they leave open and the smoke wafts in to the dining room. What a shame, as overall it is a great setting and a beautiful building which has been well designed and laid out. The reception staff were very friendly, helpful and polite.

Fanatastic location on the Beautiful main Square.

The location is fantastic, right on the main square just across from the walled old city. Views from the room over the square. Easy access to the main sites in the old town and to the many bars and restaurants in the square. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. You can't drive up to the hotel but they have a special rate at a car park which is 4-5 minutes walk away (ring the hotel for directions).

Great hotel, not for light sleepers!

We couldn't fault this hotel for anything. If there are any criticisms it can only be for the fact that access to it by car was difficult as it is in the main square which is predominantly pedestrian precinct. Also there is no adjacent parking. You have to park in the local multi storey car park, although the hotel have negotiated a preferential rate. The only other criticism was also due to the location. Being on the main square it is surrounded by many bars and restaurants and there was a substantial amount of noise until well into the small hours.

Overnight stop in Caceres

Nice, small and affordable hotel situated in the attractive town plaza. Interior in very contemporary and boutique and in contrast to its classical exterior. Rooms were comfortable, clean and well equiped with good quality bathrooms.

TV was all Spanish channels (not surprisingly) but this did irritate the kids. We were situated on the 4th floor which is accessed via a small and rather slow elevator. The kids were in a separate room with sloping ceiling and velux style windows. Ours was a traditional double bedroom.

Breakfast was buffet and reasonable quality and price (approx 8 euros pp). Staff were pleasant and helpful although on our outward stay we did expereince communication problems locating the hotel and the car park which is a few minutes walk away and encountered a number steps (not what you want carrying cases!). Return stay seemed less hassle because we knew our way around but if this is your first visit and you are travelling by car then beware as you could go round in circles.

We didn't try the restuarant and instead availed ourselves to the restaurants located nearby in the plaza.

Overall a good value, slightly quirky but pleasant hotel.

After a stressful car trip, we arrived at our hotel and was immediately put at ease at the wonderful calming surroundings of the Casa Don Fernando. Staff greeted us by name and helped us to our waiting room. All the staff was very helpful and tried to give us information to make our stay more enjoyable. Room was big, clean and most importantly quiet. Cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful staff and the patience they had with members of my party. Thank you so much Casa Don Fernando!!!!
