The staff were going, professional and helped out with the issues I had. The soundproofing between rooms is appalling and really does need to be addressed. I had to change rooms in the middle of the night due to volume I could hear from other rooms around me. The change was handled well but shouldn’t have been required in the first place.

This hotel was very successful for us, on our first visit to Alicante. It is away from the city centre, in a predominantly residential area. It is a short walk to the lovely sandy beach, and most of all (as we wanted to explore) buses and trams are very close to the hotel. The buses and trams in the area are super efficient. All in all a very good experience.

Basic but clean hotel close to trams

Hotel Castilla is a basic hotel which is receiving upgrading. Although it did not interrupt our stay. The beds were basic single beds that were a bit flimsy as they moved as soon as you sat or lay on them. The hotel was very clean and the breakfast was again just basic continental and scrambled or fried eggs. There was lots of choice so always something to eat. Dinner was a set menu to choose from two starters and two mains. Food was ok nothing spectacular. Trans were located right outside and were easy to navigate around.
Overall an ok hotel.

It is a lovely hotel in a great location for beach bars restaurants etc, bus stop directly in front of the hotel & tram stop is only 5 min walk ideal if you want to travel to Alicante, the bus only takes 25 mins to the heart of town.
St Juan has a fantastic sandy beach & that is the main attraction it’s a fairly quiet area perfect if you just want a relaxing beach holiday

Only drawback are queen. Size bed was split into two twins, leaving a very uncomfortable Twins us the very uncomfortable crevice in between the safe that was in the room was actually an additional cost. It’s not the two euro fee every day every day rental. It was the nickel and dime the guest that we didn’t like.
The entire hotel reeked of construction and chemicals, especially the threshold to our room
The very beautiful marble floor was extremely slick and my partner did slide getting out of the Shower
Overall, I probably would book elsewhere in Alicante, but the price was very reasonable all in all two stars
I recommend booking elsewhere

Staff were all great and friendly. The only thing that I would mark it down on is the food. Breakfast could have had an egg included in the menu. The evening meal started at 8pm which for us would be too late. We would have preferred at earlier time which would give time to explore Alacante a bit more. Also we do not like eating late at night. Having said that we would go back again.

Nice clean place. Great food. Ideal situation for days out in Alicante, but also San Juan is a resort of it's own. Pleanty of decent bars and food places. I would highly reccommend Hotel Castilla. We were there out of season, but the pool looks like it would be an ideal playground during the summer months.

Check-in—-The receptionist asked me to forward the booking confirmation email to the hotel. I followed his words but I felt a bit uneasy because it looked like I hadn’t had a reservation. I’d never been asked like that by any hotels...

The room (for single stay)—- Very clean and confortable. The air conditioning worked really well. Not very spacious but enough for one person.

The breakfast—-Buffet style. Many kinds of meals but no salads. There are several kinds of fruits. All juice was not natural and tastes very artificial.

The pool—- Lots of sun beds. Nice and confortable place. Love it.

The location—- Easy access by bus 21&22 from the central Alicante. Only 1,45€. 3 minute-walk to the beach. Really convenient.

Check-our—- Quick and easy. I could ask to leave my luggage while I was walking around. The female receptionist was very kind.

The guests—- Looked like mostly Spanish families with children and elders. I didn’t see any noisy young groups. Good for relaxing leisurely holiday.

Great location. Lovely beach. Great atmosphere on the seafront in the evening with families young and old out strolling and eating out. Tram stop not far away with easy access into Alicante.
Hotel staff very helpful and polite. Rooms are very clean. Didn’t use the pool but it looked very inviting. Actually had a UK channel on tv which was nice. If you like a very firm bed then you are in luck. Black out curtains are great.
The only issue we really had was the noise from people scraping chairs etc on the tile floors and slamming their balcony doors. Went on until 1am and started again at 6am the 2 nights we were there. I’d advise earplugs and it will make for a far more enjoyable stay. Not the hotels fault, just people being inconsiderate to others.

We stayed for a week as we love the Playa de San Juan area and wanted to be near the beach. This hotel met our needs. It is well situated and only five minutes walk from the beach and lots of restaurants around. The beds were comfortable and the room was exceptionally clean. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Could do with a fridge in the room but you can hire them it gives the impression they are included.
Easy to get to also with two buses from the airport.
Will definitely stay here again

Repeat visit for us, the Castilla is a great,clean hotel situated near the beach. Breakfast basic but adequate. Bar prices ridiculously cheap E1.30 for a coffee and E6.00 for a bottle of wine! Ate at the hotel and was deeply disapointed on 2 occasions - very poor food,served cold and burnt. Would return again for the comfort and cleanliness and ease of getting to hotel - bus stop outside. We stayed in March and most local restaurants shut. San Juan is a very peaceful resort with a lovely,clean beach.

A very good hotel close to beach and tram.

This was our second visit to Hotel Castilla and again we were impressed with everything.
The staff are courteous, professional and efficient. The rooms are always immaculate with good size balconies. We had dinner in their restaurant and had the set menu which was very good and excellent value.
They arranged a taxi for us to the airport at a much better rate than you might receive arranging it yourself and the tram stop is no more than a 5 minute walk away as is the beautiful beach of San Juan.
We would have no hesitation in staying here again and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Nice Hotel Shame about the Manager and the mosquit

We were pleased when we arrived at the hotel however after a few days we were both badly bitten by mosquitoes that were in the room. We complained at reception and were told as we were near a lake they were around all the time and not to open the balcony door. Despite having 2 plug on deterrents and having bought wristbands and a spray I had 12 bites and my husband had lots too.He went to see the manager and her and the receptionist who was translating for her seemed to think it was very funny, it was only when my husband said we would be commenting on the internet that she changed her demeanour.The room was sprayed floor sprayed everywhere sprayed bedding changed A piece of plastic put against a vent (we had already covered it with plastic as we thought they were coming in here) a large plugin wit deterrent in it and yes you have guessed it they were back that evening (the mozzies that is) we had to sleep covered top to toe in the sheet could not open the balcony door for fresh air and could not use the aircon as this was set to heating only,which I found out at reception when I asked them to fix it a nightmare! We did not get a proper night sleep for days it spoilt the holiday.

Nice hotel, close to the beach; if, like us you needed to be close to the city without the extra expense of taxi fares, the bus stop was was right outside the hotel, and only three euros to Alicante centro. Staff were beautiful and most helpful, and helped us negotiate the language: always a problem.

It's in a great location the only fault I have is if your staying for long periods the TV channels they should cater more than bbc news and the breakfast was a bit bland it was bacon sausage and egg everyday you get sick of it after the third day or els all is good would I go back yes I would and please have tea facillities in the rooms

LOVELY AND PRACTICAL HOTEL

Thoroughly enjoyed my 5 day stay with my 11 year old daughter.

Reception staff were very polite and helpful and we were allowed to leave our bags and explore a little as we arrived early, Room was ready before 2pm.

Only a 2 minute walk to beautiful San Juan beach and next to regular, efficient tram and bus service for day trips.

Hotel pool was lovely and not crowded, excellent breakfast options.

All in all, felt like more than the 3 stars rating and I was very pleased I chose this hotel. I would certainly recommend it to anybody visiting Alicante.

We stayed here for one night. Location is amazing; one block from the beach. And the beach here is absolutely lovely; definitely a must-go. The rooms look dated, and I don't think they are that clean, especially the bathrooms which had soap scum in the tub and the toilet itself did not look that clean, and there was a very overwhelming smell of some air freshener that made all our clothes smell the next day.
Hotel staff is all right; not super nice but all right.
We had to pay a small fee for the safe, which I thought was odd.

Stayed for 4 days, room and breakfast. Location is very good, short walk to the beach, bus stop in front of the hotel to get around cheap (1.45 euro). Food quality was good, breakfast a little simple.
Room was cleaned every day, very nice and helpful staff.
Not too far from Alicante's airport (Taxi less than 30 min, around 34 - 36 euro).
Towards the weekend hotel was packed with Spanish families, and beach also got crowded, didn't know why but firework went on every night till around midnight.
Several good restaurants and bars within 10 min walk.
The only downside was noisy neighbourhood and sleep disturbance.
Good internet connection for free.
In total was a good experience in a 3 stars hotel.

We stayed here for 2 days. It's only 2nd line from the beach which is awesome. Bus stop is At your front door with a 20min ride to downtown Alicante. The hotel has their own cafe restaurant that serves a nice breakfast buffet and other foods during off peak hours of the day. Parking is easy to find around the hotel and downtown Alicante is about a 10-15min drive. Our room was okay, the only issue was the broken shower head handle on the wall.

We had a lovely stay at the Hotel Castilla, staff were very helpful. Hotel is so close to the beach and very clean and comfortable.

Very nice hotel

Very nice clean comfortable hotel. Fabulous beach 1 minute walk away. Just 2 slight problems, very little choice for vegetarians in the hotel and in the area in general and there were no pubs or night entertainment (music or shows etc) in the area.

Very ordinary

My room was small, without a fridge and a dismal view.
The hotel was disappointing as previous reviews had raved about it.
From the map I thought it was a front line beach location but it was about 100 metres away with no view.
It's also well away from the centre of Alicante which takes about 20 minutes by taxi.

Hotel staff very helpful

I was looking tko buy a villa and had to give the hotel phone as point of contact. I had several calls and they took messages when we were out. Let us use their phone for free return calls. Came to find us at breakfast to take a call. Left messages with them to give to estate agents who called. Excellent.

good location.

Hotel was in a great location room was clean and comfortable. Ate at hotel once and was disappointed when I ordered a pizza which I expected to be freshly made and to my surprise the bar man pulled a frozen pizza from under the bar and brought it to a small room beside the bar and after a half an hour came out with a over cooked pizza out of a frozen packet.

Close to beach and tram

The only disadvantage about the hotel was that we were unfortunate to have noisy neighbours in the adjacent room and we were close to the lifts which were noisy. Both of these things did not annoy us enough to complain.

Niice hotel and close to the beach

Very good hotel. The staff were really good, especially when I needed them most, which was when Ryanair cancelled our flight back due to France strike. The rooms had thin walls and could hear the neighbours - I found it difficult to sleep. There's not really much do near the hotel but the beach is very close to the hotel - excellent for a quiet time away. The Tram line is so close to the hotel, we were able to catch a Tram into Alicante town and travelled to Benidorm for the day - more to do.
