Overall value was a 5-star. Unfortunately not a 5-star on its own. We got a great deal through Hotels.com but had we not our visit would have had different expectations. Rooms are decent, no dresser so space for clothing is limited. We enjoyed having a balcony but we couldn’t use it as recent snowfall hadn’t been cleared. The shower was great, bed was comfy. The downsides were that although they give parking passes they are not enforced so hotel patrons have to contend with restaurant goers and park visitors. Multiple laps multiple times to finally get a spot to park. More often than not the front desk was left unattended and the jacuzzi hot tub has an odd odor, not chlorinish… almost musty.
All in all a good visit for a great value considering a lake view, a fireplace and needed amenities.

King Lake view room furnished very nicely. Modern cabin feel. The property is fantastic. Sauna overlooking the lake. Deck/bar/restaurant was perfect and the view!! There is a front lawn area that has a few large fireplaces with chairs all around and beach front. Couldn’t have asked for more. Walked across the street to Knottingham’s for a meal, very good.
We’ll be back for sure.

This was our third time staying at the hotel and we cannot fault it. We had a really bad experience and actually left the hotel. We were meant to stay out to come back to this hotel and they checked us in early after hearing the story. They obviously didn’t need to do that but they really turned around a bad situation. The facilities are fantastic, the rooms are done really well with comfortable beds and Blockout curtains and having Aesop products in the bathroom is just a treat. We will always stay here now when we come to big bear.

Had an amazing stay! What a great spot and location for most of what big bear has to off! The walking distance to everything was amazing! Plus power shut off in the hotel so me being an electrician on site i was able to assist an get power back up an running since there wasn’t really anyone on site to assist late that Saturday night! Will definitely be back and bring family and friends again!

The view from the room is by far the most beautiful aspect of this hotel, it’s gorgeous! The room wasn’t shabby either, the modern gold finishes, warm woods and textures used throughout, is so inviting. The staff was cheerful and welcoming. My only criticism was that the bedding was FIRM. Even still, can’t wait to visit again in the warm weather to use the beach and sauna.

Good cocktails at the partner Nona restaurant and the igloos were fun but the paper plates and appetizers were disappointing. Overall- we loved our stay and hope to return.

This property is in a perfect location. I’ve stayed here several times. This time we only had an issue with our heater. It wouldn’t heat up and after looking at how dirty the filter was I knew it was that. The maintenance guy came, took off the filters and cleaned and it worked good after that. They should do regular maintenance on the mini splits to avoid this problem. All the staff in the front office are very nice. The only bad thing about this hotel was the restaurant part of it. We specifically choose this hotel because they have a restaurant and when we went to try to eat the guy at the door said he didn’t have any more room for the next two days. I asked if I can at least order to go and he said no. So we couldn’t eat there, order a pizza to go, or even have a drink the bar. I know it was cold but they had plenty of seats outside. I would have been ok sitting in the cold or even taking my food down to the fire pit or my room but that was not an option. I understand that it was full for the next two days but even his tone was rude and careless. So if you are planning to stay here make other plans for lunch and dinner! Don’t count on eating at the hotel because apparently they don’t have enough food to serve anyone unless you have a reservation.

Marina Riviera is a very nice property. However, they don’t live up to their word. I was told by the front office manager last night at check-in that due to my check-in being so late, around 9 PM, that I was guaranteed a 1 PM check out today. However, the current front office manager is not honoring her late checkout. This is something that will make me reconsider staying at this hotel as the hotel rate was quite high, and I got very little use out of the room. If it weren’t for this, I would give the property a solid five stars. But now they very well may have lost my business. Mean what you say, say what you mean it is a fundamental ethic in life and business.

This is my first time staying at this hotel in big bear, and it was one of the nicest places I’ve stayed at so far. The room was super clean and had everything you need, and the robes were such a great touch. The cleanliness was amazing, and the sauna was so relaxing you definitely need to try it when staying here. I loved my peaceful morning walk by the lake and the bonfire at night. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. I have been to big bear many times in the past, and staying here this time really topped my experience. I will definitely be back. Thank you!

Wowzers! I went back and forth with where we should stay, Air Bnb or hotel. Marina Riviera caught my eye with the mid century modern decor and access to the lake. I wasnt sure what to expect and I also dread the mountain drive. This was so fantastic. It was packed in town for us but we were content to just stay at our hotel.Will definitely be back.

The restaurant has really good pizza but I think they need more food options. How many times can you really have pizza in 3 days!! They also need more wine selections and better cocktails. There was a cockroach in the room and someone hit our car in the parking lot and left their information to contact them but the manager said they left no information so we thought it was a hit-and-run and called the police ruined our whole Sunday cause we waited around for the police and made a report when we did not have to. We could have just called the couple which were on vacation from another country and on the move, we had to do our own investigative work to find them. It was very stressful. Terrible service terrible food at the restaurant no selection and the manager was very rude, not wanting to help at all.

Nice view. Only 1 chair on balcony and only 1 chair in room. Light fixtures are in wrong places. No light over sink which is in room not bathroom. Asked staff for an easy favor to get purse left across the street after we left town. “They were too busy taking care of their guests”. I stayed there 2nights. They do not support good customer service.

Great location for ski, golf, restaurants and shopping. The hotel charges high-end rates, but functionality of premises, and limitation of the restaurant menus, and food/ drinks presentation are very poor for what they charge.
We will not to return after our 2nd visits due to the highly increased rates with decreased improvement and services. It’s so comical that the fancy name appetizers were served on the cheap paper plates, and cocktails were ready made.
The beautiful location was wasted.

Sadly I can not leave a good review for the staff. After our first wonderful night, a storm passed through Big Bear the next morning. Sadly, the entire valley lost electricity and we were basically stranded with no food, drinks, or communication. The most help we received was when we talked with a cook. The staff were useless and of no help. My sister and I are elderly, and we needed food. We didn't even have WIFI. The staff would just shrug their shoulders. Useless and with no hospitality training. They should have opened up the bar area to all the guests and provided water, snacks, and support with communication. It should have been a safe haven instead ot total isolation. We drove around the lake and saw that there was nothing open. Finally, after no breakfast or lunch and no prediction of when electricity would be restored, we decided to leave. I believe we should have been given a refund for the three nights we planned to stay on but no such refund was provided. So overall the location of the hotel was wonderful, but the inept and poorly trained staff failed us and ruined our vacation. I will never stay there again.

I loved this property and will certainly return next time I visit Big Bear! That said, they were definitely unstaffed which led to some not so great service. When we first arrived at 7pm we had to wait almost an hour to check in because the front desk agent was on her dinner break. I totally understand everyone needs a break but there should definitely be a manager to cover breaks! It was a Friday night and the property was definitely busy. Then when we got to the room, the keypad didn’t work so we had to call and get that sorted out. Then I tried to get a breakfast sandwich and was told that the employee who makes them called out sick and no one could cover. It just seemed so odd to me that twice in a two night stay it was clear that they need more help.
That said, the property was beautiful, the rooms very clean and nice and the food was delicious!

Beautiful and new, modern - lovely appointed rooms with super bedding, Aesop skin care.
Enjoyed the garden with direct access from 1st floor rooms, the pool, amazing location on the lake
The Village is 5 minutes away with a variety of dining options. Very dog friendly.
For now, no coffee maker or microwave in the room, but there is a small fridge.
Staff is very friendly and happy to assist with any requests.
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay, i will be certainly back!

I enjoyed myself staying in this cute hotel, so many amenities including sauna , jacuzzi etc and most important there is a lake access from the property. I stayed in king size bed room with a lake view, room was pretty small but I didn’t even mind that , there was few things like lack of closet space, table in a room , or coffee maker , it was dark in a vanity area. So little tweaking is necessary to make the room amazing but overall I would still highly recommend that hotel. Staff was so helpful and kind! 9/10 experience!

Just back from our second visit to the Hotel Marina Riviera, which has been completely renovated. It is absolutely pristine, the staff is sweet and actually make you feel like you live there. The rooms are spacious with great views of the lake. The deck is fantastic - we could sit out all day and evening enjoying the fresh air and scenery. Just delightful.

Location is good, views are good. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. However, there was NO in room coffee available, nor any way to heat water for the instant that we brought. I was told there was coffee in the lobby, but the machine was broken, was given a voucher for the bar where no one was working. Also we were on the 3rd floor with no elevator, and as I have asthma was exhausted going up and down.

The room was very well appointed with a beautiful view of the lake. While this is no reflection on the hotel itself our stay in the month of August was ill planned. There were kids everywhere screaming, hollering, running wild in the room directly above causing a tremendous amount of noise. Overall I would entertain staying at the hotel again, but during a time of year when the children are in California.

Beautiful hotel with lots of amenities. Rooms were clean and well equipped, staff super friendly and helpful. Location is so convenient, right next to Big Bear Village.
Only thing is that the walls are super thin, and the quiet hours weren’t checked, so people were pretty loud by the common areas well past midnight.

Overrated and overpriced

First time staying here and the last time. We hardly got any sleep all weekend because of the noise above us. This Hotel claims they redid it to not only freshen up the appearance, but to help reduce the sound in between rooms. Well, that was an epic fail! We heard every step and move the people above us made, making our stay miserable. The staff said they were fully booked so they couldn’t move us. The only way I would ever go back is if I stayed on the top floor, but apparently those are all Suites and the price is ridiculously too high for what I would pay considering the Hotel’s overall condition. Not with it.
