I can’t fault this hotel or the service. Loved everything. Beautiful hotel and such lovely staff. Nice pool area with either full sun or shaded areas around the pool. The rooms were really nice with a balcony overlooking the pool area. Breakfast was really good. Lots of choice and great quality. I highly recommend staying at this hotel. It would be good if the hotel had a gym.

Great location, but a bit tired
This hotel had a brilliant location, the valet parking works well, and we loved the 7' bed and excellent breakfasts. However, we did feel the hotel was looking tired generally, especially the dining area, and there were some annoying issues in our room - eg doors and cupboard drawers that were difficult to open, a concrete lightshade over the dressing table that my hubbie hit his head on twice (!), a plug in the sink that wouldn't work properly etc. We did tell management about this, but they explained they have been full for months, so no time for much maintenance.

This was the worst hotel we stayed in during our trip to South Africa. Oude Werf is overpriced, shabby, dirty, and in dire need of a full refurbishment.
Our room design was flat out awful; an example of which was that the only place to hang towels was above the toilet pan. Disgusting and unhygienic.
I wish we'd booked elsewhere instead of wasting our last night here. The central location is the only positive, but it just makes the place a tourist trap.

The location is good. Room was clean and breakfast area staff were friendly. However front desk staff were lacking in hospitality. Reccomendations for drivers were grossly expensive for the short tours we requested. A 30 minute round trip was approx 90 dollars canadian. The driver did not wait for us. There was an issue with hot water for seversl says. As well with power sharing the generator at the facility was not adequate to run AC.i would not stay here again. Upon leaving i had to request compensation for the water issue. This is something that should have been offered. I found the lack of hospitality very odd for South Africa.

Very friendly staff and extremely central, close to all shops and restaurants. Excellent valet parking and lovely breakfast. Corridors to the room could do with a bit of sprucing up, the odd skirting board missing and plain white walls which make the place look a bit ordinary. Perhaps they’re mid renovation so not a big deal but some improvements would make a massive difference and create a much better impression on first arriving. Lovely place though.

Prime location on one of Stellenbosch’s most historic streets. Mix of older & newer structures and so too of rooms in different styles, all likeable. This time I had one of the older ones but with fully modern bathroom fittings etc. Based around a central courtyard which is a lovely area to sit both day & evening. Very charming. The restaurant with its own covered courtyard delivers some rather good dishes on its short menu. The bar is delightful, again with older style decor. A few too many steps at my age, and rather low water pressure. But these are the only mild shortcomings; otherwise it’s perfect. I did not use the valet parking this visit, but know from experience it’s gold dust in this location.

The staff was very nice, professional, and accommodating. The hotel's original building is a historic property with an addition on the back. Breakfast was included with a large selection and a nice bar just off the lobby. Very good price value hotel. Full services including arranging a driver or tour to wineries in the area. Hotel and location were outstanding. Bed super comfy for us. The only concern would be lack of a lift in our building. We were in room 220 on second floor which would be a problem for someone not able to climb 2 flights. Otherwise, all was outstanding. We had cappuccino one morning and dinner in the restaurant one night. Both were better than expected. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

My bed was not changed at all during my 8 days stay. I understood that I would have a recycle bin and led lights??? I had to ask for vanity and shower caps - surely these should be replaced every day. Day 1 received 500ml water thereafter 300 ml water??

I have been to the Oude Werf restaurant many times over the years. This was the first time I stayed there and it was an excellent experience. For those who want to be in Stellenbosch proper, the hotel is perfectly located. I did not have a car so cannot say what the hotel parking was like, but if you do have a car you are a short ride from some of the areas top vineyards. I used a cab company.
I had to make my booking unexpectedly after arriving to a mix up with my (booked) accommodation elsewhere, and after a very long flight. My arrival at the hotel was literally within minutes of having made the booking online. The young woman who checked me in was the best first experience and, shortly after I’d entered my room, she called up to ensure that all was as it should be in the room. All of the staff had the same warm professional approach.
There was a funny moment when I got lost trying to find my way back downstairs—this is an old building that has been recently renovated, but the corridors do wind around a bit. And a sign pointing to an exit was, or seemed to be, pointing in the opposite direction. It was the sign for the fire evacuation. Am I the only one to notice this? Whatever the truth is, the staff were very polite in their amusement when I found my way back to my room and called down for ‘directions.’ The young man who ‘fetched’ me said he would check up on the sign. Well. Go ahead, have a laugh. I did. One for the books.

Room especially closet smelled moldy. Overall upkeep of hotel was lacking. Yellow bucket in shower, why? No privacy in bathroom as only a curtain as separation to bedroom. The building itself and the lobby were beautiful, but the room was outdated not as expected for this hotel class rating. Also, location of bathrooms at entrance to restaurant and the smell of bathroom cleaning products on the way to your dinner is not very pleasant. However the location of the building is unbeatable and the staff was very friendly.

Simply a superb hotel located spot in the middle of an amazing city - Stellenbosch. Walking distance to everything in town. The room was modern and spacious- Contained everything you would expect from a five star facility including an espresso machine... staff at every level were super friendly and professional in every possible way. The breakfast buffet was of a very good quality though a bit limited.

Nice hotel centrally located in Stellenbosch, very close to restaurants, bars, shops etc.. we had one of the traditional rooms in the original building which was lovely, huge bathroom, but as this Room overlooks Church Street there be noise at certain times of night, but we weren’t disturbed at all, but there are modern rooms at the back. Breakfast very good and it’s bar very pleasant. Staff very friendly we had a slight issue on retrieving our car as it had been parked offsite, but a minor hiccup.

We got a warm, friendly welcome when we arrived, and found the staff helpful and super friendly throughout our four-day stay. The hotel is centrally located in Stellenbosch and diverse restaurants, bars, and stores are close by. It was straightforward to arrange for a car and driver to take us into Cape Town and bring us back (the train was not recommended), and likewise, we arranged a tour of local wineries. Oude Werf was excellent value.
