Fantastic location- had been worried it may be a little noisy bit it was absolutely no issue at all. Super comfy room, best sheets and shower ever!! Used the pool area which is quite small but enough, and enjoyed breakfast outside most mornings- lovely. Great assistance from all the team there but stand out colleague Shane- great tips and recommendations and a really genuine nature about him. Would absolutely revisit!

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at Coopmanhuijs while in Stellenbosch. It was fantastic! The staff was super friendly and acommodating. The restaurant was outstanding. Our reservation included breakfast and we were able to order off of a menu and/or opt for the generous buffet. We also ate dinner at the restuarant and it was beyond delicious. (Springbok carpaccio!) We don't usually relax in common hotel spaces, but everyone was so welcoming that we did spend some time in the lounge by the fire. We met some other guests who were super interesting, and I felt like I learned a lot about South Africa culture as well. Thank you for a lovely stay!

We enjoyed our stay in Coopmanhuijs. The location was perfect right in middle of shops and restaurants. The room was on the small side but very comfortable.
Complimentary breakfast was very good. Besides a good buffet spread, they also served an a la carte warm main. All the choices were excellent. Restaurant in the hotel was also very good. We had dinner one night and enjoyed it very much.
Service was amazing. Reception, bell, housekeeping and F&B staff were all fantastic. Valet parking was complimentary. Neil who parked our car and carried our bags was very efficient and friendly. Jonathan at the front office was very helpful and thoughtful. Everyone was just nice!

Amazing staff! It was our anniversary during our stay and when we arrived we had a bottle of champagne on ice in our room as well as a fruit and chocolate platter which was so lovely!
There was however water leaking from the toilet so we informed the staff - They said the maintenance guy had finished his shift for the day but said there was another room available which had a balcony if we were happy to switch. We moved rooms and this was much bigger! Very happy with the service from staff and lovely boutique hotel with a great breakfast selection!

Charming boutique hotel in the perfect location
Really enjoyed the stay here. Beautiful period property in the perfect location. Staff were all super friendly and warm. Our dinners at Helena’s were a particular treat. The room had an old-fashioned, but quaint and charming aesthetic that perfectly matched the vibe of the hotel. My one complaint would be the WiFi; which was super unreliable for the duration of our stay. It would regularly drop out for extended periods and when it did work; was very slow. Despite this one issue, I would definitely stay here again when we hopefully return to Stellenbosch.

The hotel is in a very classic building could have been turn of the century. The restaurant - Helena’s is on the premise. Very good food on their fixed price menu paired with delicious wines. Everyone is super nice and helpful. Given the opportunity we would return. Worth a stay. So quaint and lovely to stay.

An outstanding hotel where you are made to feel like royalty from the moment you arrive. That entails free courtesy parking which, given how busy Church Street is, was most welcome.
Our room was spacious and our bathroom huge, we've had smaller bedrooms. Everything you could reasonably want was provided in the room , which was immaculate.
We ate in the restaurant twice. The first time our main course was lamb shank, which simply fell off the bone, accompanied by an excellent local merlot. On the second night we ate off the \"set\" menu, there were at least three choices for each course, with matching wines served in generous glasses. I had wonderfully tender ostrich steak and my wife Kingklip.
There was an extensive breakfast buffet with fresh fruit, cooked meats and cheese. There were also a range of hot options. My eggs florentine were particularly good.
The best feature of the hotel was the staff who were unfailing friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone and they were always happy to help you.
We would genuinely think about going back to Stellenbosch just to stay here again.

Unfortunately, our room had two outside walls one was on the outside dining area, and the other was on the pool area. It was not peaceful nor private. Load shedding was unfortunately terrible and we got no sleep due to the fact that this hotel does not have A generator and the air conditioning was out for several hours during sleeping hours.
I found it very strange that you would have to walk through the dining room and the outside dining area to get to the pool. Everything was very tight and awkward.

Coopmanhuijs was a wonderful location for our stay. The staff was phenomenal and willing to help with any of our needs. We had breakfast every morning and the food was excellent. All of downtown Stellenbosch was easily walkable and safe from the hotel. My room was very comfortable with an amazing bathroom with heated floors. The hotel also has a backup generator so load shedding is never an issue.

Some confusion at check-in with parking - circled several times, but is actually valet parking in a nearby garage facility, so bags in car not accessible as planned - also not comfortable with valet parking during COVID (suggest needs some thought)! Would have appreciated advance notification of impact of planned electricity blackouts: annoying to not charge appliances, use hairdryer etc as planned - how were we to know about blackouts? Grateful to drop bags early, before check-in time, so we could explore.

Coopmanhuijs: more than a home away from home
We decided to celebrate 15 years of marriage by spending the night in Stellenbosch- Coopmanhuijs! Would use it as a base and then go to dinner to one Stellenbosch's fantastic restaurants. We were delighted by Coopmanhuijs from our arrival. Valley parking , efficient reception and just a very warm and professional feeling all around. Room was lovely, met some friends for a glass of bubbly and eventually had dinner at Helena's. Only problem: our stay was way to short!! Will most definitely be back.

Great downtown hotel
My Daughter and I had a beautiful stay here. The staff was so helpful in every way. Breakfast was delicious and had many choices.The rooms were small but cozy and full of charm. Sheets were very comfortable. We would stay here again.

Well maintained hotel in the heart of the city, walk out the door into Stellenbosch views, eats and shopping. Building first completed 1712 so this is a heritage building, but has everything we expected from a boutique hotel. No views like some winery estates, but neither do you have to drive into town for options, that is your Stellenbosch tradeoff. Helena's is a superb restaurant and daily breakfast excellent.

I can hardly imagine a better place--in wine capital Stellenbosch or anywhere in SA. Great staff and excelle connections with moderate-cost locan drivers for visitors without cars. Fine restaurant, too.

The staff and hotel were wonderful. Definitely a first-class place to stay. Clean rooms, great breakfast, friendly and welcoming staff. They set up a car-service for us to go wine-tasting, and we liked him so much we even used him to transfer us to a hotel in Cape Town when our time in Stellenbosch was over.
My family members (not myself!) left some items in our rooms, and the hotel contacted us the next day and graciously arranged to have the items to shipped to our next location.
We would definitely stay here again.

Beautifully located hotel in the middle of Stellenbosch. Atmospheric furnishings. We loved the breakfast on the patio and the delicious buffet spread. Eating on the front patio at night is magical. The food is of very high standard. We'd go back to this hotel

Overall a great stay. The hotel is nicely located in the center of town. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is above average for hotels, but not as outstanding as other locations in region -- there are some amazing restaurants at the vineyards. (eat on the veranda if you can...). They have a nice breakfast spread including an \"hot\" order and the eggs Benedict were solid!! Only down side was that the room was a bit small...but OK for boutique hotel.

Sweet, historic, intimate.
This was my second stay at Coopmanshuijs, this time accompanied by my 80 year old mother. The staff was warm, welcoming and gracious, and took time out of their routines to help her if necessary, to give her a guided tour of the original house, or just to chat while the car was being retrieved from the parking lot. I recommend this property wholeheartedly, and without reservation.

Stellenbosch, and the surrounding towns are beautiful, and there is something for everyone to do. Great cycling, hiking, running trails, and the best wine you've ever tasted!

Quaint hotel in excellent location
This is a lovely boutique hotel. The staff were all excellent, friendly and helpful. The food is also really good. Helene's restaurant is number 4 on Trip Advisor which is really good as lots of good restaurants around. It is in an excellent position with lots of fantastic restaurants and shopping in the area that you can walk to.
The staff were very accommodating as my husband did the Origin of Trails race and they had a delicious breakfast ready for him and allowed us to book out 1 hour later so that he could shower.
The Spa is also very nice and quaint and Belinda gave me a lovely, relaxing massage.
Only downside was we felt the rooms a bit cramped - perhaps furniture needs to be moved around to make it more spacious. Also no feather pillows on beds and we had two single beds pushed together which is not what we booked. We also booked the room with a balcony which is nice.
Also the showerhead in room 7 needs to be cleaned as the water was not pouring out of all of the holes and the hot water took for ever to heat up.
All in all lovely hotel with excellent staff and we would recommend it.

Lovely Guesthouse with great views. Easy cheap taxi journey to Guesthouse from both town and harbour - 30R - use Excite. The owners are so helpful too and go out of their way to check if they can help you organise anything for your day or night. Quiet at night too - unlike town!
