Front staff not understanding. Hotel did not state a passport was needed to stay and did not let me check in. I lost my reservation, time and money and had to quickly book with another hotel in the middle of nowhere.

My king bed room was medium size and clean. It had a mini fridge, large screen TV but no hot water kettle to boil water. Daily room cleaning. Breakfast was basic continental, scrambled eggs, cut potatoes, rolls, juices, cereal, cut pound cake, two choices of fruit, sliced cold cut meats, coffee and tea.

Breakfast was basic, scrambled eggs and cut potatoes, juices, rolls, cut pound cake, cereal, two choices of fruit. Coffee and tea. Daily room cleaning.
No sliced bread and no toaster.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was great. The room was comfortable but the carpet in the room needed to be replace or a deeper cleaning. It looked old and a bit dirty.

Great Service at a Moderate Price

Staff was very helpful and the room had great air conditioning and adequate, but not constant, hot water.
Could not use room phone to get an outside line. Breakfast was of marginal quality and very expensive.

Because of the helpful staff I would definitely stay there again.

The room was large, very comfortable, excellent A/C, with a nice refrigerator. Cleanliness was above average, and the windows provided beautiful views of the cityscape. Unfortunately, staff responsiveness was, on occasion, less than adequate. First they insisted that I had to pay for an extra person in the room, even though I had already reserved the lodging for two people. Then, after reporting the inconsistent and very slow WiFi signal, they were unable to fix it and even suggested that I was annoying them. In the end, I had to purchase a modem from a local ISP because the WiFi was completely inadequate.

I like the hotel got everything that you need to be comfortable , Flat screen TV with cable , Wifi , computers available if you need it , is very clean the room are big, personal well training , the housekeeping is very efficient , location wise is close to the airport about 20 minute trip , close to Downtown about 15 minutes in a taxi cab, close to Miraflores close to shopping center and restaurants . overall I like it and I would recommended to anybody.

Very Nice Hotel.

I like the service ,very professional , rooms are clean spark, the room has pretty much everything that you ask for , Flat TV with HD Channels , small living room very roomy, the bed really nice I would recommended to anybody the hotel is well located there's transportation to anywhere 24/7 and the rate is fair.

disappointing

this was supposed to be an airport hotel, it turned out to be about 45 minutes from the airport and was definitely not worth the drive. hotel was old and tired and had no attempts to make it comfortable. an absence of any personal touches and the location was traffic noisy.

The hotel is located in a central area close to bussines/turistic places like Miraflores and San Isidro, is a good option for bussiness trips. Rooms facing Arenales Avenue are a little noisy because the avenue is a high trafic area

Old school high class

Great experience. The staff were very helpful and the room was good value, with an ensuite and full bathroom. It was a bit 80's in style tine room but the actual hotel has a nice wooden interior. There is a casino outside which was noisy but muffled by the ac. Check out the water park and Chinese restaurant nearby for cheap entertainment .

Good value, far from things

Hotel look and facilities are average. Restaurants is basic but good. Staff is nice and helpful. It's in the Lince neighborhood, with nothing to do around it. The historical center or the Miraflores waterfront neighborhood are both opposite taxi rides away. It was ok, but I'd stay elsewhere next time. I wish there was one more option regarding whether to recommend or not the hotel. I would, with reservations. In having to choose between yes and no, then I'd go for yes. Hotel isn't bad, if you know the above.

Location is not ideal. In between the old town and Miraflores, requiring a taxi ride to both. Hotel is ordinary, but clean and staff is nice and attentive and good value for the money.

Just a basic rating

It is usually fine but this time I notice it did not have radio clock and shower curtain allowed the water to get out of the tub. The lights on the bathrooms should be a bright white and this hotel failed to pass the xam on the lights. As the matter of fact that is a problem in most of the hotels in Peru. This is of course in hotel which rates oscilates between forty and ninety dollars. Even though the rates are not too high for tourist they all should make improvements when surveys like this are requested.

Unacceptable if not spanish speaking.Bad Location.

Hotel is situated far from the city center.

The room is clean, you might have a sofa, which is not too comfortable.

Breakfast buffet is really great, WiFi is good.

The quality of the staff is absolutely unacceptable:
As the Carrera (that's the name of the hotel - Thunderbird is just the group) seems to have 4 stars one would expect the staff to speak English. This is NOT the fact.
We were supposed to get a breakfast package, this was not possible.
Instead we were told to get some breakfast in the hotel. So far so good. Arriving there in the morning we asked the waiter for the breakfast. \"Yes, yes.\" Okay. 15 min later nothing had happened. He was still reading newspapers. It took further 10 min till, by good luck, another member of the staff came by who understood the word \"breakfast\". Another 10 min later the waiter brougt some broken toast (more than 3 slices for 2 persons were not provided) and marmelade. The evening before we were told we were getting some rolls, bread, cheese and so on by the reception staff.

The day before we already had problems trying to talk to the reception staff, because they said they were speaking English but didn't understand a word. One out of 4 or 5 different people at the reception (there always was only one person at a time) was able to speak English. This one was not able to transmit the breakfast-package-information to the other staff.

For a four star hotel this seems not to be acceptable.

Needs urgent renovation

The location of this hotel is not good, nothing around to do or to go and very far from the Centro historico. In addition, the hotel is so old and uncomfortable. When I arrived my room had a strong smell of humidity and it was cold and very noisy.

Extra days in Lima

The Carrera is in an OK neighborhood about halfway between downtown Lima and Miraflores areas. It is right on a busy street (Arenales) so there is some traffic noise. The rooms were older, but they were clean. It worked well for me since I was just looking for a cheap place to sleep for an extra couple of days (on my own nickel) after a business trip.

Really enjoyed it

I had a very good experience at the hotel, the staff is very friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and comfortable, and breakfast was good. The only downside is location, if you had to go downtown. It's to get there, because the hotel has a car that take you, but many tax drivers don't want to drive you back to Lince (the neighborhood where the hotel is located).

I have stayed at other 3 star hotels before but this one was not even close to the quality. The room was smelly and dirty. The front desk durning check in was not even helpful. The old man at the front refused upgrade to suit to one bed when he realized that it was for two guys. The buffet breakfast was not even worth getting up for. The food selection was limited. I just had coffee. The wait staff was very slow and not helpful. Overall, I was very disappointed. The pictures on the website did not match the hotel. I was expecting one thing and got another. Will not recommend and will not return!

We liked many things about the hotel. First of all, if you like to explore a place on foot, this is an ideal starting point to visit downtown Lima. A major street- Arequipa Av leads all the way downtown (it takes approximately an hour on foot but you can hop on a bus for 1 solas anytime). Miraflores can be reached similarly in the other direction. The hotel is beautiful and very well kept. we got lucky and got the suite instead of a standard room but even without this special treatment - staff is very friendly, hotel is clean and well kept, breakfast is perfectly sufficient. We would go back anytime. I booked the hotel because of assumed vicinity to airport, however, it takes almost 30min to get to the airport by cab, so that was a bit misleading.

Good hotel on the way to Machu Picchu

Very comfortable hotel. It is about 3 miles/5 KM away from the main attraction of Miraflores and Larcomar. It cost about 8 soles to get from the hotel to these areas. You are also about the same distance to Downtown Lima going the opposite way. If you like the Casino life there is one in the hotel and one on the hotel accross. Breakfast was good. Coffee was the best coffee in town. I will recommend this hotel to the traveler who will like to save. The Inka and Indio Markets are a great place to shop right before you get to the Ovalo of Miraflores between Arequipa and Petit Thouars Avenues. The Magic Circuit of the Water or Parques de Las Aguas is about a mile up from the hotel, it is a great place to see at night time. Right after that is the Estadio Nacional where we saw Peru beat Paraguay 2-0 in the 2014 Brazil Qualifier. Great town. Hotel is very helpful but do not have too much information on the surroundings.

The hotel it's self was fine. It was the attitude of some of the employment that had me a litte upset. Overall the staff was fine but there were one or two apples that spoiled that batch. The front desk were rude when I would have to leave. One cause when i would leave I didn't know i had to leave the key with them. So the lady at the front desk acted like i did a major offense. When all it was, was a simple mistake. The second was my girlfriend lives in Lima so she would come in the morning to wake me up and the staff would see her everyday with me. Well one day she forgot her ID and they would not allow her up to see me. They wouldn't take anything else of her's. I understand why they did it but they were not really acting like the feelings of their customers mattered. It was also how they dealt with the situations too and tone.

An Average Ed

An Enjoyable Visit

The hotel is a comfortable, well kept property. The staff are helpful and friendly. I don't speak much Spanish and everyone was patient when speaking to me in Spanish and the front desk staff were fluent in English. The location was central to different attractions in the Lima area and was good for our purposes. It was a lower priced area than the bigger tourist area of Miraflores which is not far away.

NOT IMPRESSED AND NOT CONNECTED TO AIRPORT

the lobby of the hotel is very nice, though the room does not stand up to the appearance of the lobby. my room smells a bit musty and it is cold (it is their winter time) could be warmer in the room. on the description of this hotel it states `connected to airport` and it is certainly not. i booked this hotel because i thought it would be connected to the airport because my flight arrived at night. to my surprise it was not and it was a 40 dollar cab ride to this hotel and the location of this hotel does not appear to be in a good neighborhood. although, im not satisfied with the location of the hotel and my room, the staff is friendly and the room is clean, though the lighting in the room is the best and it smells a bit musty, but tolerable. i would recommend a hotel in a more commercialized area where there would be more tourist.

I was greeted by staff which helped me get online and direct me to local places.
The only complaint I have about Thunderbird Hotels Carrera is that their rooms were freezing cold.
But, as with other classy hotels, they provided me with an electric heater, which warmed things up.
