The hotel is beautifully decorated, especially the public areas. The small courtyard pool is surrounded by colorful flowers.

Clean, friendly service but some details to improv

The room was super clean and fresh scented, and the personnel were helpful and kind. The location is also excellent. The bedroom had everything we could need including bottled water. One thing we didn’t like was the loud music by the pool starting at 8 am and until past 11 in the evening. Also, we could hear a kid crying full night in the next room. I understand not much can be done about the kid crying, but I am surprised that the neighbours and other hotel guests would not complain about the music. The area is pretty residential so really unexpected. I asked the reception to turn it off by 11 pm and they did but I wonder what about the morning—I am a morning person so not an issue for me but maybe for other people?

We took a trip in the middle of our stay and they keep the luggage we did not need and brought it to our room when we returned. The staff is great. Most of them speak English. They are extremely helpful. Our room included a kitchen and it made it really convenient to make our own food and have space to work and relax.

I can not Recommend Peru Star highly enough ! This was a last minute find on Expedia and it was excellent in every way. This is proprietress Lucy's labor of love and you can tell. The attention to detail is incredible. it feels like you are in a dear friend's home. The rooms are immaculate and have every amenity imaginable - TV, micro, fridge,dishes, etc. The restaurant is fantastic. The San Isidro location is perfect - walking distance to stores anda huge mall, yet quiet and relaxed, and just a few minutes to taxi to Miraflores. Book this one, and you will be happy !:)

Some positives and negatives at Peru Star
GREAT
We stayed in the 2 bed unit. It was massive, had a fully equipped kitchen, 2 bathroom and a comfortable lounge room. Although in need of a modern upgrade, we found it very comfortable.
All staff were also helpful and worked hard to fix some issues.
GOOD
The pool was handy, but opened to the public and their dogs. There was a loud noisy party in the restaurant on Saturday and some children didn’t seem to know where the toilet was leaving the pool dirty. Also outside guests were smoking and drinking by the pool, not the type of environment for our young family.
BAD
The Wifi dropped out several times. Staff worked hard to provide us with a mobile wifi which worked briefly. This was an issue for us.

Spacious hideaway in a nice local neighborhood

Due to our connecting flight back to San Francisco at Lima airport getting delayed until midnight, we needed to get out of the airport and spend 1 extra day in Lima, which we had visited at the beginning of our trip. I decided to use the spotty airport wifi to do a last minute booking for 1 room nearby so the 5 of us could keep our luggage and shower. And that's how we discovered this gem.

If you travel with family to Lima, this is where you should stay. The San Isidro neighborhood is much less busy and polluted (as compared to the central Lima District). The staff were super nice and friendly, and their restaurant cooking was surprisingly good.

I will definitely stay there again next time I'm in Lima

Nice hotel, the restaurant serves good food. The hotel WiFi works sporadically around the buidling. It goes on and off and is frustrating if you are using the hotel for business. The hotel is a great value.

Great Place for families to stay in Lima

This was a great place for our family to stay. The rooms are large with extra beds, extra rooms and a kitchen with everything. The rooms are cute. The patio and downstairs is nice. It is a nice refuge in a pretty unremarkable city. The people who work here are great. We arrived on an 5:30am flight and arrived at the hotel. They had our room ready by 9am. We would definitely come here again. Very, very nice for families, I want to share again. The only negatives are the breakfast is pretty much nothing (like most of Peru) and you have to take a taxi to get anywhere interesting. But that is not that expensive or a big deal. There is a large mall within walking distance and some good restaurants.

This place is just OK

We visited in the relative off-season for tourist travel in Peru (beginning of March). The hotel was just ok. Our room was extremely hot (no air conditioning), and the included fan was underpowered and did little to help. There were also tiny bugs in our room, including the bed. Can't say that the staff was overly friendly or helpful. The breakfast was nice, but not free.
This hotel does have some local Peruvian flair, which is nice, but at the time of our stay there was construction going on in the courtyard by the pool which made the ambiance noisy and uncomfortable. The pool was slightly dirty and jacuzzi did not work at the time of our stay.

Nice hotel in a beautiful neighborhood

I chose this hotel ONLY because they are pet friendly and I'm super happy I wasn't disappointed with the overall experience. My family and I stayed in the family room apt. It got all the essentials for a confy stay. The room/apt was extremely clean. The hotel is in a safe and nice neighborhood. Walking distance to the mall and restaurants. The hotel's restaurant was also really good for both service and food. I recommend this hotel 100% and I'll be back but next time I'll stay much longer.

Nice non-chain hotel in great location

I had a great stay in this individually owned hotel. My room was very comfy! I had a whole kitchen with table and living room. The bed was very comfortable and everything seemed very clean. Staff was very helpful with any questions I had, calling a taxi, recommendations, etc. I would definitely stay there again

Fantastic place to stay

I only spent one night here between a lay over. The room is very clean and so is the bathroom. Staff are friendly and speak both English and Spanish. So here is my critique. The bed is firm very firm, I don't sleep on a firm mattress so It was rough going. The room has a air conditioner but every time it turns on is so loud it would wake me during the night. Finally just a note after 8 or 9 pm they turn off the hot water so be sure to get an early shower.

Home From Home in Lima

The 'room' is really an apartment. It was larger and better equipped than some places that we have lived in. The bedroom was great - with a large cable TV. The bathroom was fine - with a big shower which had plenty of hot water.
We didn't make use of the pool - but it looked fine.
The bar and restaurant was great and offered a range of meals at very reasonable prices.
Little added 'extras' like a free DVD service, maps of the area, attractions, and communal seating areas made the place very homely. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again when next in Lima.
It is a little far from the 'centre' of town - but taxis are inexpensive and come straight to the door.

Went to Archeological Museum and Huaca Huallamarco by taxi but also shopped locally for groceries. Apartment had full kitchen and was very clean. Staff friendly, spoke English, organized transport to/from airport. Computer available in social room to check internet. Restaurant also friendly and food good.

We had stayed here 4 years ago and the service was excellent. We returned thinking it would be a great stay. I would not longer book at this facility. TV issues, slowest wi-fi, no hot water one day. The reception guy was rude to my husband. My husband had to tell him to lower his voice.
Breakfast is served from 7-9, and had a day breakfast till 8am. Always having to get up early was a drag.
This is more like a 2 and a half star hotel if that much.

Stayed at the beginning of May and then the end of June, each for two days. In San Isidro, a posh area near a shopping centre (Plaza Rea), with banks, eateries and a cinema. Short taxi rides to the centre or Barrio Chinos. The hotel is small with clean room and good service. Have not tried the small pool as it was not hot enough. No lifts nor heating/cooling, but it was not required either. Needed to move my large suitcase upstairs with difficulties but then I did it slowly and they were willing to help. The restaurant was OK as well but I was always too late for the seafood dishes. Recommended.

I found this hotel via Internet. When I arrived in Lima I was pleasantly surprised by it. Great location in a residential area.Quiet and my apartment was beautiful.It is close to shopping ,banks etc etc .Perfect location.
The garden in the back is colorful and peaceful.

Service was exceptional anytime we needed anything either brought to our room or even just for informational purposes. The area is perfect as well. We stayed here based on the reviews. As tourists using Lima only as a transfer to/from Cusco, we probably would have done better to stay closer to the airport. The rooms are efficiencies with little kitchenettes. The first night we stayed in Room 5, which had no A/C. Our return night was in Room 18, which was much nicer.

Not bad but not great... The restaurant was out of at least 70% of the dishes they offer... the S./ 17 offer only lasts like one hour... The receptionist do not know how to lead you to the main historical places (which are about 30 mins away if you take a cab...). So basically if you want to spend a lot of money using cabs to go to Lima's main attractions, go ahead and book this one.

A calm and pretty oasis in Lima

Visiting Lima for a couple of days and needed a nice, but not too expensive place to stay. This place is lovely - ultra secure (video cameras on entrance) and in a very pretty residential area. The entrance gate leads into a lovely flowering garden/dining area. The service is excellent - our bags were whisked up to our rooms in no time, and we were lucky enough to have a very large, 2 bedroom apartment, with kitchen and sitting room! Would definitely stay in this area again as there are plenty of restaurants & shops reasonably close by.

I was very happy with the hotel in general. One minor thing I would complain is that the taxi service they offer is much more expensive than the market rate. Getting there from the airport should be 50 soles (17 dollars with current exchange rate), and going to the airport from there should be 40 soles.

Great place for the price

Room was extremely nice. I was pleasantly surprised of the quality of the room based on what I paid, including the size. Staff was extremely friendly. It was also nice to have the pool after walking everywhere to relax.

The location is to be desired if you want to go out at night. I like to walk everywhere, but it will take at least 30 minutes to make it anywhere with some action. The neighborhood is primarily residential.

Great Breakfast and Rooms

We stayed here for less than 12 hours. Arrived late night and flew out in the morning to Cusco. The staff was very friendly and got us to our room quickly. Room was large and fun with decorations and colors. The bathroom had couple sunscreen packets along with typical toiletries provided. These were s life saver for the rest of our trip.

Great breakfast in the morning. Fresh fruit. Assortment of great marmalades. Coffee and fresh juice. Then you get to pick style of eggs. All for about 15 soles (approx $6).

I tried to book this place again for our way back from Puno but there was no availability. Would recommend!

I booked a room at this hotel for 2 nights about 5 weeks ago. I had a family member with health issues so I made sure the three hotels I booked all had no cancellation charges. This hotel advertised no cancellation charge. I had to cancel about a week after making the reservation, which was over 4 weeks before travel. They charged me 89.00. I appealed this with the hotel manager but they refused to refund my credit card. No, I would not book with them because they are deceitful in their business practice. I could understand if I had cancelled at the last minute but that was not the case. I might add that the 2 other hotels in Peru, who advertisement in regard to cancellation was the same, refunded my deposit immediately.

Nice hotel in a quiet neighborhood.

Upon arrival, they offered to upgrade our room if we paid the quoted rate in USD; cash. We had sufficient money with us to do that. The room for 4 people had two separate bedrooms, each with a full bathroom, plus a spacious living room and full kitchen area. The room entrance overlooked a small garden, and was lovely.

Not the easiest place to find in Peru. The high gates are security enough, but the hotel is in a dubious neighborhood.
Not far from banks and shops however.
We booked beds for 4 guys, and were provided with a 2 bedroom apartment. One room had a double bed, the other 2 single beds. One guy had to sleep on the lounge. Not what I expected or paid for.
Very average overall, and will not be back there for sure.

Charming oasis

We arrived in Lima at night and the taxi ride was disburbing.....traffic, lights, noise to the max. We were so relieved when the driver pulled off the main drag and stopped in front of the Peru Star. The hotel is a charming oasis just an inexpensive taxi ride from anything there is to do or see in Lima.

This was a great base for us in Lima. Instead of getting 2 hotel rooms for 3 of us or even 1 room for the 3 of us we got a 2 bedroom apartment with lots of space. Lovely apartment with a balcony in a nice district in Lima. Also we had the comfort of having a breakfast prepared for us each morning. Staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend staying here during your stay in Lima.

Lovely Apartment Hotel

We stayed here for two nights before going back home after visiting Cusco. Quick response via e-mail and helpful staffs. Satisfied with their pick up & drop off services from & to the airport. Saved us from the bad traffic in Lima. Very nice decorations and green plants around the hotel. We got a room on the ground floor near the back yard. Nice kitchen with appliances and utensils provided. They help clean and wash your dishes! 10-15 min to supermarkets and restaurants. You can buy food and cook. Even though I am not good at cooking, I personally love to have our own kitchen, especially getting tired from the restauant food after traveling for two weeks. In general, great apartment with a great price.

Great hidden little gem

Used this hotel in Lima as a base before heading to Cusco. It is located in a very quite safe district close to many embassies. Just around the corner there is a new shopping mall that is huge and has everything. You are about 20 mins by taxi to the historic city centre and 15 mins to Mariflores. No problems walking around here after dark.

The hotel was clean and the rooms well presented. Only draw back for me was old fridge in the room thst was quite noisy and no European style plugs in the room.

Overall a very nice place to stay that was worth the money.

Great staff and owners of this family hotel. Had a room with kitchen, 2 toilets, lounge with large TV. Very reasonable price that included breakfast of fruit, rolls, jam, juice, coffee/tea and eggs. Had some problems with WiFi but staff and owner went to a lot of trouble to fix which was appreciated. Lesly at the front desk was particularly friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. Located in safe area with consulates. Interesting Incan pyramid with museum located nearby. A long walk to miraflores. Lovely walk along cliff top overlooking beach.

Great hospitality!

I had emailed about coming to the hotel early saturday since I was leaving Sunday at 4 am and was hoping to drop my bag off. They did me better and let me check into my room, shower and leave my things. I was amazed at how nice they were. When I left Sunday at 4 am, they had packed me a breakfast with toast and coffee. They went above and beyond and I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel!

We prefer small boutique hotels, Peru Star was great Lovely breakfast, very comfortable room, helpful and caring staff. English was spoken by most staff which helped with some details of arranging transportation to the airport and finding restaurants.

No ac, no ceiling fan, fire alarm detectors beeping all night long, noisy fridge, not so clean, way too much air freshner, they screwU on the exchange rate when paying, not coming back

Seven days in Lima

The Peru Star Boutique Hotel is really a Bed and Breakfast, not very large -- hence, personalized
service -- and very handsome, both the inside rooms and the outside ambience with pool and
surrounding patio. I think this hotel is a not very well kept secret, for I met a number of cultivated
and educated \"foreigners\": Swiss, Italian, Canadian, and French.

The personnel are all very friendly and very competent. Not many have much English, and I
have not much Spanish. But the owner speaks excellent English, as does one of the desk
superintendants, Diego. Diego is mentioned in several reviews as being very helpful and
knowledgeable. I agree totally!

Peru star apartments was a wonderful place to stay. The rooms were very unique and everything we needed. The staff was helpful, especially Diego. The breakfast was fantastic as well. It is on a nice quiet street, but close to everything. I definitely recommend staying there.

Nice hotel, some distance from tourist attractions

Excellent staff.
Quiet area but only during the mornings.
After 7:30am (weekdays and weekends) the traffic and noise are non-stop till 9:00pm.
Some shops and restaurants nearby but not near any tourist attractions.
To Expedia: You may want to re-check the check-in policies and phone numbers.

Nice Hotel, in a nice quiet and safe area.

My family (wife and2 x teenagers) spent 2 nights at the hotel. When we arrived in the taxi late in the evening we were slightly concerned by the outside view of the hotel from the road, however on going into the rooms were very happy. We stayed in room 9, the downstairs had a large kitchen and TV area. Upstairs there were 2 good size bedrooms. The breakfast was good and the rooms very comfortable. We walked to the Inca market and the area of Miraflores, which took us around 40 minutes and in the evening walked back, we felt safe, however we were recommended to take a taxi.

Good location in uptown San Isidro Large suite with two bathrooms and bedrooms Beautiful garden good breakfast good waitress Very cold but provided heaters when asked No fridge Kettle provided Clean However I would NOT recommend only because of very unhelpful attitude of one girl at the reception We had started out with the intention of booking a room again for a later visit to Lima in the course of our travels but decided not to do it only because of the attitude of the receptionist Ultimately its the attitude of the staff that attracts customers

I stayed here for 3 nights during a recent business trip, based on the good rating this hotel had received. I was perfectly satisfied. The hotel is located in San Isidro, the financial center of Lima. The neighborhood is quite safe, with lots of security. About 30-45 mins from airport, depending on traffic, which can be very bad in Lima. My room was small, but functional, except for the fact that it did not have workspace besides a very small table and chair. But the bed was comfortable, the Internet connection worked fine, and breakfast was good. Staff spoke reasonable English. There is a restaurant on the property, and others withing short walking distance. I got more than my money's worth.

Nice place to stay in lima

This is my second time that i have stay at peru star and for the second time i have not regret of my choice. It is a wonderful stay and the staff is so great and what got me so much is that they reconised me from last year. I recomend to stay here!!

Charming Retreat in Safe part of Lima

Very fine boutique hotel... was given a very nice room on the top floor with lots of bright windows and a lovely enclosed sundeck off master bedroom. In addition this 'suite' had a full kitchen facility with fridge coffee maker plates cutlery etc. The staff was very polite and helpful...there were ongoing maintenance projects during my 3 day stay so I could see that they were trying to keep the place looking sharp.
There was a swimming pool although I didn't test it... a reading room with some helpful books on Peru.
On the negative... I did have a bit of an 'ant' problem in the room but the chamber maid was good at resolving the problem (it is the tropics after all)
and while this is no comment on the quality of this nice little hotel...I was 'surprised' at how many car alarms and house alarms that would go off at all hours of the day in night...
That said I would happily recommend this this as a fine place to consider if staying in Lima.

Great Stay

The hotel is located in a very safe part of Lima. The only down side is that it is far from the tourist locations. Everyone was very friendly and the pool was a great added touch. It was so relaxing, it felt like a second home.

Very service-oriented, charming!

The entire staff was very pleasant, helpful, and tried hard to please. They always remembered our names, made great suggestions regarding restaurants, hair salons, and even an emergency clinic, and tucked us into taxis only after confirming the rates. Our room was very clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. The breakfasts were tasty. Would definitely stay there again and have suggested to friends and inlaws in Lima that they recommend this hotel to their traveling friends and clients.

Didn´t received what I payed for

When I did the reservation trough hotels.com, I booked a standard suite with WiFi, Free parking, and breakfast included. When I showed up (with my reservation printed) they told me the parking should have been booked in advanced and breakfast was not included. Additionally when I was paying for the room, they charged me 5USD additional dollars as they apply a convenient rate to foreign credit cards. I will not recommend this place. I´ve been in Lima before and there are better places to stay.

Aesthetically beautiful and full of surprises

I loved Peru Star Apartments from the moment I was welcomed to the time I left. All staff take a pride in their work and are genuinely wanting to provide the best service they can. ...lovely light room, beautiful garden areas, a pool area, wifi that works, sitting areas, restaurant/bar, security...all guests are 'buzzed' in and out, taxis...one of the nicest places I have stayed for many months.
