I used to love Aku Hotels, but new management ruined it. The manager is never around, and when she is, she’s unkind and unprofessional.

It’s disappointing because some of the staff (like Andres) are great—but overall, the atmosphere has changed for the worse.

If you’re looking for a warm, friendly stay, I’d skip this place.

The front desk staff waa completely amazing. Anytime I had a question or needed assistance with scheduling rides to wherever. The only reason I didnt give 5 stara is because once I arrived back home, there was a discrepancy on the amount for the charges when they were converted to USD and I had to dispute it with my cardholder. Otherwise, everything was perfect! I highly recommend this hotel!

A lovely hotel next to the park, quiet. The room was spacious and clean though better lighting was needed.it was a little dark. The bed was large and very comfortable. The sfatt where efficient and friendly. There are plenty of great restaurants near by and loads of small shops, plus a Japanese supermarket and a tambo convenience store. Would happily stay again

I had to change twice out of my room, in a three nights stay. First, because the air conditioning was not working on the first room; and on the second room: it started alright, everything working but then the electricity was out, and they couldn’t get it working. Finally, the third room worked smoothly for the last night.

Aku is a mid range hotel. Nothing to write home about but friendly staff with clean and tidy rooms. Close to shops and restaurants and a nice big park. Safe area. Cheap bathroom accessories. Very expensive restaurant and bar area. Breakfast also very expensive. Go across the street the cafe is half the price.

We only stayed here two nights, but it was a great stay. The hotel is not very large and it is in a quiet neighborhood.

The room was nice and provided plenty of space and we chose the king size bed, which was excellent. It also had air conditioning, which made the sleeping at night better, but the unit was a bit noisy, so we just cooled the room prior to sleeping.

The bathroom was good size and we had no issues with hot water or water pressure. We also were provided with regular size towels, as the ones in Cusco were on the smaller size.

Our room also offered a kettle and some cups, so we were able to make our own tea in the room. This was a nice touch for us. We had to get the sugar from the dining room downstairs.

Booked and paid for the room on March 4th.When arrival on April 3rd at 10:00pm, I was told that all the rooms were booked and they did not have one for me.They offered to give me a room at their sister hotel 3 blocks away.This was unacceptable, as I had excursions booked to pick me up at that hotel the following morning. The hotel itself is ok. Safe location but isolated and far from main attractions. You have to walk to the bus stop or use a taxi to get to some points of interest.I stayed in Miraflores before and liked it much better. I didn’t pay for breakfast (costs a lot and very limited varieties for that money). There are some dining options around that area with better price and more options. It was ok for one night stay but once again you are depend on taxi services the most of time.

The staff there was very understanding and eager to help. When one of my tours got messed up the staff called the tour operator and went to bat for me. Also there is a wonderful park nearby (Barque de Olivar) with large grassed area and lots of olive trees and security. A great walk every morning to get you in the right mood. I plan to return there.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was on a quiet street so noise pollution was not an issue. Beds were comfortable, and we were able to get additional pillows and blankets to make our sleep even better. Only downfall is that the images for the bedrooms and bathrooms don't always match. Image for the room we booked showed both shower and bath within the bathroom, but when we arrived there was only a shower. A quick talk with the front desk got us another room with only a bath. We were told for the future any specific request for the bathroom to place in the requests box. Now we know for next time.

Terrible experience, not sure if it was because we got the worst room or all rooms are equally bad. Toilet did not flush properly, had to flush a few times and spend few minutes. Wash basin water flow was so little that it took a few minutes to just wash hands with soap. Bathtub water was clogging and all the soap foam was floating on top, had to wait for the water to drain before starting the shower again. No hair dryer in the room even though it should have been there. Booked room for two days, the wifi network was visible and worked okay on the first day but the phone couldn't even see the wifi network on the second day. The receptionist mentioned that the booking does not include breakfast quite rudely. While I was aware that the booking doesn't include breakfast, she could have been a bit more polite because there was no reason for her to be rude.

I hope this is not the condition with other rooms and not sure why we were given such a third grade room...if you are a tourist, I strongly suggest to not consider it. Doesn't deserve any stars in my opinion.

Based on my person experience and my opinion ONLY.

The check in was great! Internet is great! I asked a king sized bed and paid for it; however I was given (2) two twin mattresses merged one with each other. I hate the feel when my body is in the middle of that gap.
Hotel located in great area; however I would stay elsewhere. You will hear every person on the floor due to no isolation and cheap room doors. There were construction activities at or about 7:30 in the morning on the street.

Nice hotel in the San Isidro district. The area around the hotel is fairly quiet (for Lima), and is walkable to some phenomenal restaurants, a nice church, Bosque El Olivar (a beautiful park very near the hotel), and is overall very nice, central, and safe. The hotel itself is pretty modern and well staffed. The room was comfortable and clean (under the bed was a bit dusty, but everything else was fine). Would definitely recommend staying.

Terrible service and wanted us out quickly

I booked a room way in advance and when it came time to check in (8pm) they informed me there was an issue with a prior guest who could not check out due to a medical issue. I understood that because of that they did not have an available room, but they told me they booked a 4 star hotel and would pay for our taxi. I booked that hotel as it was walkable from our pickup spot for our transportation the following day. The new hotel was further out and required a taxi. As an inconvenience they offered us breakfast, but we informed them it was not possible as we were being picked up at 5am. Instead we suggested dinner. They agreed but only offered 2 options no no beverage choice. It was clear they had a list of other options as the whole menu on the wall of their dining area. not only that it seemed like it was an inconvenience for them to compensate for our inconvenience. it seems like they wanted us out as soon as possible. When arriving to the new hotel that they booked. it turns out it was not a 4 star as they stated. Internet showed it was a 3.5 star and cheaper than our original booking. It would be different if they moved up on the hotel for the inconvenience to the booking they should honor, but they downgraded and wanted us out as soon as possible as it is less of a liability. Overall experience was terrible and would NOT recommend based on the service provided.

Aku is a solid choice in Lima

Had a good stay at Aku, so I stayed here again when I came back to Lima.
Pros:
Rooms are clean and the AC works well.
Staff is nice and very accommodating.
Service is very good.
The luggage storage is a huge plus.
Great neighborhood, next to Bosque El Olivar and tons of coffee shops and restaurants. One of the safest and nicest parts of Lima.

Cons:
The hotel is nice but a bit outdated.
The breakfast is severely lacking, especially for a 4 star hotel.

AKV service lacks quality to grant a good stay.

I didn't feel comfortable in my room, the beep of the elevator was quite annoying during the night and I could hear it in my room. My door closed with a big pull, which was quite noisy as well. I couln0t turn on the AC in my room and had to ask for help, the blow drier died in my first attempt to use it. The first night I went to the cafeteria for dinner and even thuogh I was the only person there the waiters never approached me, I had to ask them if the place was open... not a good experience.

I stayed in this hotel for 11/22/18-11/23/18, 1 night. Staff were very polite and nice. Breakfast was good. Rate was very reasonable. However, cleanliness had a big problem. The sheet was not changed. There were all kinds of hairs on the sheet. They changed the room immediately and said housekeeping made a mistake. It looked they didn’t change sheets and just made bed. This ruined our first night of Peru trip. Please take off the cover sheet and check the bottom sheet.

Big room - Clean - Spacious bathroom - The TV could be a little bigger at this day and age, but it wouldn't matter if you're busy visiting beautiful Lima. Location is also great, right in the middle of San Isidro, but in a quiet area.

Good hotel. Very clean, modern room with expected standard and amenities for the rate. Restaurant food was also good. Perfect location for visiting Lima. Area is full of Embassies. Local area police everywhere to assist and very friendly not intimidating. Olive park and the surrounding area is great to stroll at night. Lots of little shops and restaurants. Taxis to the interesting touristic spots are very reasonable.

I don't speak much Spanish; however, staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. they would turn the tvs on to English channels when I was around and was always available to help out with the menu. Not to mention they put candies and chips in your room everyday... that alone is what sold me.

Although this property is admittedly difficult to find, it is well worth the effort. Nestled in the San Insidro district near nice shops and restaurants, this small hotel puts you close to many nice areas of Lima. Rooms are clean, spacious and very functional. We are going to seek out other Aku properties when available. Great value! Will definitely make the effort again.

A quaint small hotel in a good location. It offered spacious rooms in a quiet area of a neighborhood but yet only a few blocks away from the hustle-and-bustle of Lima. I recommend the hotel especially for someone looking for a good value on a brief getaway.

Overall a very good option

The location is very good for the business district of San Isidro. The staff are very helpful and polite. I was on the 2nd floor and I could smell the food be cooked in the kitchen below -- good and bad. The breakfast is good but not as much variety of hot food as I've experienced at other nearby hotels.
