Everything good so far just watch out with wakr up call, i asked for it but it didn't happened. Im hlad i set the alarm on my cell.phone othwrwise i would lose my visit to machu picchu.

Perfect overnight stay before Macchu Picchu

The hotel is gorgeous. They were very welcoming and scheduled a taxi for our pick up. They also arranged for our pick up to the train to go to Macchu Picchu and prepared a box for us to take to have breakfast since our train left before breakfast opened for the day. The hotel is a little understaffed and but you could tell everyone in the hotel helped each other out and were very helpful. I would stay here again.

Absolutely amazing - if you want to experience something different from chain hotels - this is the place. 17 century monastery transformed into a cozy and clean hotel with lots of outdoor space, nicely maintained territory and unique rooms to stay. Good breakfast, close to Urubamba centre - everything is convenient. For 2 soles (0.5 USD) in Tuk-Tuk you can go anywhere in this town. If you need to stay in Urubamba to visit Inka sites within 1- 1.30 hour, I highly recommend this hotel.

We like the property so much, different kinds fruit trees, beatiful followers, mountains, it is a peaceful place to stay. Good free breakfast, good hot shower, the room very clean. There are a new open restaurant just walk to cross streets. We loved the food. Next day, we waited 1 hour for a text driver, It cost s140 to Ollantaytambo.

Untrustworthy service, nice room and grounds

Front desk staff assured me that they’d arrange for a taxi to the train station at 5am the next morning. The next morning, there was no taxi called for us and another staff member said they had no record of a call for a taxi, basically denying the conversation we had over the phone the night before. We had a late and stressful start to our day because of their screw-up as we were on a schedule.

I really don’t think it was a misunderstanding. I think it was an error or oversight and rather than simply admit to it and fix it, she pretended the conversation never happened and “played stupid”. Super frustrating. Not trust-worthy.

We also didn’t enjoy being locked out of the hotel a couple of times during our stay when they sometimes lock the front gate. Staff was slow to respond to the ringing of the doorbell and we were left waiting on the stoop.

On the plus side, the room was spacious and clean, and the grounds are lovely, particularly the view from their yard.

Amazing view from the hotel

Like everything about the hotel especially the view from its yard. You can actually see the mountains (looks a bit like Uluru!) from the courtyard, pretty cool!

Only thing I would say is that I found the door was open after the cleaner made up the room. Nothing went missing from my room, but would be cautious and not leave anything valuable in the room!

This was the best property in which I stayed all week. Lovely old monastery. The room was so pretty with a loft where the beds were located. Also had to only buffet breakfast I got all week, and it was included.

Quaint and beautiful hotel

We had the most wonderful experience at this very quaint and unexpected hotel in Urubamba. The hotel was very clean with upgrades throughout. The hotel grounds are beautiful and quiet. It is located at the foot of the mountain with spectacular views.
The restaurant and the food were excellent. But the overall gem was their staff at the entire hotel. They were very polite, kind, sweet, we were treated so well that we plan to go back sometime in the near future!

Reasonable rate and interesting grounds

Stayed here one night. Old gated monastery with courtyard and nice white-napkin type breakfast room / restaurant.
Used as a base to explore Moray and the Salt mines...
The grounds are beautiful.
The town is within walking distance.

Step back into time

It's a bif out of the way but besides that it's a wonderful stay. Feels like you stepped back in time. The walls are thin and if someone is walking in the room upstairs it sounds like elephants dancing. And the maids get loud when they are rushing to get the rooms ready for the next guests. So if you are sensitive to noise, this is not the hotel for you.

Interesting option in Valle Sagrado

Hotel is built in a Church site. Good restaurant (my son loved it) and the rooms are clean. Prepare for a rustic experience and the church bell at 6:00am. Staff is friendly and honest.

Beautiful grounds and architecture.

I lost a small cheap padlock for my luggage early on in the stay but didn't mention it due to the small value. Then we left our luggage for one night (after our stay) when we went to Machu Picchu and I lost a pair of new hiking shoes that was packed in one of our luggage. We didn't notice it until the following night when we unpacked, but we were already in Cusco. Very disappointed.

Was concerned when we arrived as town is quote rustic. Have to drive up a gravel alley, past some beat up buildings to reach the site. They cam out and unlocked the gate for the van to enter. After all this, we entered to find a well maintained and beautiful hotel with a view of the mountains. The service was great and the staff really wanted to help. Slight language barrier but no more than to be expected.

It's a very nice place to stay especially if you like a nice place that is off the beaten path. Transportation here is much better than it seems. You can actually hail a cab on the street but ask locals about cost first to make sure your are not being taken. Also get a room close to desk if you want to use wifi actually inside your room

An interesting place to stay

We really enjoyed our stay at the San Agustin Monestario. The breakfast was varied and good. We ate dinner there several evenings and mostly had the place to ourselves. It is a short walk to the main street and about 20 minutes to the main square. The views of the hills above town are wonderful. The staff was helpful and did their best to accommodate our minimal Spanish. The chapel is a special treat--like stepping back into the last century. We would recommend the Monestario without hesitation.

Garden was nice

There aren't many options in Urubamba. This is your run of the mill hotel, and is a place to rest your head if you're heading to the Sacred Valley. The Gardens are nice, but the bed is very hard. If the bed was more comfortable I would be giving a different review - felt like I was sleeping on the floor. The people that work there are very nice, and extremely helpful. The hotel seems very safe, as they have a guard at the front that locks the gate entrance of the hotel. There are really no other alternatives to eating at the hotel so you may want to bring some food with you.

Beautiful hotel

The hotel is set up on an ancient monastery, it still has its chappel.
The restaurant is superb, the gardens well kept for and the rooms ample and clean. Not much to do in town, but it is a good place to sleep when traveling the sacred valley. Good deal for your money.
A $35 dollar 20 minute taxi ride from Ollantaytambo train station.
Highly recommended.

Very nice

This hotel is wonderfully located as a starting point to head to Machu Picchu. If you are however looking for a nightlife or restaurants, this is not the place. We look an hour bus from Cusco here, and then caught the train to Machu Picchu early the next day. Great location to discover other surrounding areas of interest. Internet is very sketchy at best, about 60% success rate.

A mixed experience

After some wonderful hospitality in Puno and Cuzco, we were somewhat disappointed in this hotel which is in a beautiful location and boasts a lovely facility. However the desk and restaurant staff were lacking in graciousness. We could hardly have received a more indifferent welcome. Too bad, because the place could have been a winner.

Boutique San Augustin- more of a hostel than hotel

Very disappointed after reading many great reviews. The front desk staff was very unhelpful, first pretending that we did not have reservation for 2 rooms and only giving us after we showed the confirmation. The front doors of both rooms left a half centimeter crack which enabled bugs and small spiders to enter the room at will (but apparently none exited). Rooms are small. Grounds are nicely landscaped. Not much to do in walking distance. Breakfast was ok and upto the local standards.

A Wonderful Experience; Highly Recommend

This 100+ year-old restored/renovated/modernized hotel provides a pristine setting for a wonderful, enjoyable experience. It is quiet quiet quiet!! The lovely garden sitting areas, the inner courtyard, and the ambiance provide unforgetable memories. We wouldn't stay anywhere else if we repeated this journey 10 more times! The rooms are rustically comfortable, but the bathrooms are strikingly modern - from the stone-wall enclosed shower (how refreshing was the shower with strong pressure/flow to provide a massage-like experience. The monestary's chapel provided for even quieter moments. Can you say \"peaceful calm?\" The downside? The hotel staff need to be re-trained; their attitude is lackadaisical at best and their interaction with guests is best characterized as \"detached.\" Nobody seemed to take ownership for screw-ups. Taxi arrangements - made twice, and in both English and Spanish - fell through the cracks. We three waited for naught, in the rain at the train station, for the pre-arranged taxi that never came. No apology, no excuses, nothing! (other than \"I'll pass this one to the responsible (irresponsible?) person. Stay here for the charm and memories, but do NOT relay upon hotel staff....do everything yourself and you'll come away with a great hotel experience.

Most staff don't speak English

This was a cool place, but hard to communicate with most staff who don't speak English. The waitress in the restaurant was bad. We waited over 10 minutes for her to even come to our table, and then she didn't bring us what we wanted. But she didn't speak English, so we assumed a language barrier as part of the issue, even though we made a simple request (three times) of more bread without getting it. The rooms were chilly, although there was a heater upstairs. It would be nice to have the TV by the bed so people can relax while watching instead of sitting on a stool downstairs. The monastery atmosphere was unique and cool, so if you know Spanish, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here on your way to Machu Picchu. The front desk staff is nice and helpful, even if they lack English. The hotel is kinda out of the way, but not too hard to get to.

Historic property, beautiful setting

The Monestario dela Recoleta was a convenient base to get to the Pisac market, Ollanta, and Moray. The grounds are beautiful with a chapel, fountain, flowers, wrought iron, and great views. A++. We requested a taxi for the day, specifying a safe and slow driver. The roads are often winding and treacherous, and sometimes one lane. Not a place you want a bad driver. My only complaint was that the beds were a little hard, but I am finding this common in Peru. The bathroom was nice with rustic stonework.

Great place, great staff, great value!

I stayed here for two nights during my visit to the Sacred Valley. The grounds are lovely inside the gates and it is very quiet and serene.

The staff are super friendly and went out of their way to make me happy. Their English was not so good, but it was much better than my Spanish.

The restaurant food was decent.

Overall, I would recommend staying here to anyone. I wasn´t in my room much, because there is so much to see and do in the area. It was, however, comfortable, clean and lovely.

my best friends wedding

I loved my stay at this hotel. The staff is freindly and observant of your needs. I was treated witht hte upmost respect, and they attended to my needs as soon as they came.I came to peru to see the sights but also to go to my childhood bst friends wedding. It was a spiritual journey that took me to amazing heights and will last with me for the rest of my life. There are more inexpensive hotels in the area, but few will give you as much as this hotel.

Historical Monestary has ambiance and Zen-like peacefulness

I loved my stay at the Recoleta. It was an easy walk to Urubamba city (about 15 - 20 minutes). For 35 to 75 cents you could take a street taxi for about a 4 minute ride. The rooms had character, were clean and all opened either into a cloister or a beautifully landscaped patio.
The stonework in the bathrooms was elegant and inviting. There was a convenient bar/lounge area to relax and have a beverage after full days of touring and site seeing. The food was EXCELLENT as was their wine selection. I enjoyed my stay there very much and would return and recommend it to my friends.

Me mandaron a hotel menor categoría a las 22.30 hs

Dejamos las maletas una noche para ir a Machu Pichu . Volvimos al día siguiente del tren a las 22.30 hs muy cansados y al llegar al hotel me esperaron con las maletas afuera y me mandaron a otro hotel de menor categoría y no era habitación triple con camas separadas como había reservado. Nunca se comunicaron para avisarnos teniendo los datos y una vergüenza con lo cansados que estábamos de cambiarnos de hotel a esa hora . Dijeron que se habían roto tres baños y habia llegado un grupo grande y debieron haber llevado a ellos al otro hotel . Todavía estoy esperando algún tipo de reintegro ya que el hotel donde me mandaronsale casi la mitad .
