We had high hopes for Tambo del Inka but were disappointed. Upon arrival, they couldn’t find our reservation and didn’t tell us—leaving us waiting for 45 minutes. The room was far from the lobby and smelled musty (they did attempt to fix it). The hot tub jets were so strong you couldn’t sit in it comfortably, and others had the same issue. We also weren’t informed that the on-site Farm Table restaurant required advance booking, which was frustrating given we only had one night. While breakfast was great, overall the stay felt poorly communicated and not up to the level we expected from a luxury property. Looking back, we wish we had just stayed another night at Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel or gone straight back to the JW Marriott Cusco, which was truly exceptional.

Beautiful!!!! Loved having the baby alpaca in the lobby at night for the guests to pet and take photos with. Service and food were top notch. We didn’t want to leave! Also enjoyed the activities they had planned daily. My husband and I enjoyed painting the ceramic bulls. Pool was beautiful and warm!

If you can’t do the Belmond in Valle Segrado, this is the next best choice. Albiet an older property, the grounds are lovely and to our great delight an alpaca on site. Our only disappointment was the concierge’s service, as this trip to MP was all new for us and we found out later there is more to see around Valle Segrado which was strangely never mentioned/suggested. In fact, the concierge couldn’t think of one idea for us to do. Consequently I made dinner reservations at the Belmond, which was excellent. Additionally, as a Bonvoy member, nothing acknowledged the membership. In contrast, the JW Marriott in Cusco was simply exceptional on every level.

We spent 2 nights here in a lovely room that opened onto an immaculate lawn and gardens.

The hotel goes to great lengths to create a wonderful experience for its guests.

The day we checked in, there was a star gazing party complete with telescopes and an enthusiastic astronomer. The llamas in the lobby everyday were adorable. The musician playing the Andean harp and other traditional instruments at breakfast was awesome.

Last but not least, the hydrotherapy pools in the spa were perfect for aching knees after a long hard day.

On the other hand, the hotel is unreasonably expensive. Most guests stay one or two nights. They should have some price options for a more extended stay.

The staffing service were absolutely amazing. Our hotel room was clean and the view was unforgettable. We had turn down service and cleaning services every day. The concierge goes out of their way to make anything you want possible. I would definitely stay here again I recommend this property to anyone who would like to unwind in a retreat/resort fashion. Bonus points for the amazing pool and spa area that they have.

Don’t wanna leave!!!

Great stay, didn’t want leave the hotel, staff treated me like they’d known me for ages but with respect, spa is great, activities were awesome. Architecture was incredible, decoration very tasteful, rooms big and comfortable, bar had great drinks, service and ambiance and they would let us have dinner there.

Very nice location and property.

It is a beautiful property that leaves you in awe from the moment you step into the hotel. I really enjoyed the meals at the restaurant on site - the quality of the dishes and the service by the restaurant staff was amazing. I also took advantage of the little downtime I had to go to the spa - I did the thermal circuit (def and experience) and got a Kallpa massage (just do it).

Everything was amazing and I look forward to visiting again. My only complaint is that one day after returning from a tour, I really wanted to try a pisco sour and I waited at the bar for over 15 minutes and no one came to help. Eventually others at the concierge came to ask if I needed help and attempted to find someone to come tend to the bar and it seemed like there weren’t enough employees to cover it. I ended up leaving since I couldn’t wait anymore and had to get ready for an appointment and dinner. That was the only situation during my stay that brought the service down 1 star. Otherwise, no complaints.

Don't waste your money staying at this property . in my opinion the staff is Absolutely horrible and incompetent. The train is currently not stopping at the property. It is not 5 star service but a 5 star price. Save your money and go to one of the cheaper hotels. You will probably get better service.

Beautiful property and room; breakfast which was included was excellent; Carlos from Venturia excursion desk went above and beyond helping us rebook our train reservation to Aguas Calientes; concierge gave us great suggestions for dinner.
Wish the gym had more/better equipment, but after hiking, walking, and/or mountain biking, it was not a big deal. Did mountain biking excursion through Venturia which was awesome, but beware you will be paying a premium if booking excursions through them...can probably find comparable excursions on your own for a third of the price. Same goes for taxi service (will pay ~triple if asking concierge to order one for you). Overall had an amazing time and would definitely stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay at Tambo. The staff and service was impeccable. The grounds were beautiful. The pool and hot tubs were excellent. We did not use the train station as perurail changed our train bookings. We did not get adjoining rooms (not available). Despite two main reasons for choosing this hotel not working out (family friendly and train station) - we were still very satisfied with the experience. People and facilities definitely made up for it!

We loved everything about this hotel: the architecture and design are modern but incorporate Andean arts and crafts organically. The pool and spa facilities are fantastic. The rooms a are spacious and comfortable. It’s quiet and peaceful, perfect for a day or two of total relaxation. The hotel is also steps away from Urubamba where there are a few nice restaurants and bars.

Good restaurant but the wine list has to be done by someone who knows about wine and price. Good wine and middle wine way too much expensive. Bad selection also....but personal very nice....they would sell more good wine if they would make it affordable. Some of the wine were 5x the price in store!!!!!! Just saying....

One of the most attractive hotels and locations.

I have stayed at hundreds of high end properties around the world. This one is among the top ten. The setting and grounds provide a beautiful welcome and envelope to this experience. The design of the public areas and the guest rooms and the use of various woods are so perfectly matched to the setting, and the textures, colors and lighting of walls, floors and overhead are such a pleasure to examine. The objects and decorations throughout captured my attention for quite some time, as I took dozens of photos of the hotel entrance, the public areas and the guest room.

The restaurant offerings were extensive for the types of meals scheduled, and were very tasty, adequate in quantity, of high quality, and graciously served.

Staff in all areas we visited are friendly, helpful, knowledgable, and effective. They are so important to the hotel's image and success.

We thank you for a wonderful experience!

As mentioned below, the check-in and check-out processes need to redesigned. They are very cumbersome and slow compared to hotels in Cusco and Lima. A check-in form for each person in one room makes no sense to me. My credit card was run during check-in, but then was done again during check-out as if the first time meant nothing. This wastes guests' time when they are trying to move on with their trips. Very annoying.

Stayed here at the end of September for 4 nights. Wish I had stayed longer.
Everywhere you look this hotel is just gorgeous. Beautiful fireplaces, locally made textiles and ceramics are throughout the hotel. The magnificent onyx wall in the bar is breathtaking. And the pool! Just perfect design of indoor/outdoor space.
Our room was large and beautifully appointed. The view of the Andes from our room was incredible.
As if this isn't enough, the staff is beyond helpful and attentive. Wonderful service and interactions with everyone from the moment we arrived.

We really enjoyed the beautiful rooms and facilities as well as the restaurant. The food was exceptional.
Unfortunately the staff was not as motivated to please guest as in other similar hotels. It seemed that they would recommend activities that were overpriced and were not always motivated by the best interest of the hotel guest. We experienced a few situations of the hotel booking us taxi fares that were 3x the going rate. We booked a tour through the hotel and it just felt like they were penny pinching on every line item.
It is a beautiful hotel so I hope they are able to address this issue.
