Fantastic stay!

We loved our stay at the Martinhal Sagres Resort. The property is beautiful! Our beach room, #129 could not have been more lovely. We were given a bottle of yummy tawny port and champagne for our 50th anniversary. The staff was so kind and helpful. Quincy in the restaurant was attentive and personable. Strongly recommend! There were many young families as it is a family resort.

1) concierge and staff very good they respond back to emails and are very organised which is a massive plus
2) I thought our villa would be closer to the beach but it’s about 10-15 mins walk away and they do not rent out buggies - so bear that in mind if you have older people with you
3) parking is excellent but we got private transfers from faro airport and the driver was excellent each time very smooth
4) our hotel suite had an ant infestation which wasn’t ideal and the hot water ran out
5) the kitchen has all the amenities for self catering
6) room service is very good but expect to wait an hour if it’s busy and sometimes the online system does work - it’s best to go directly to the restaurants
7) there are a l number of heated pools which is great and none of them too busy
8) lots of activities but no basketball courts - we tried a club but it didn’t seem hugely well organised and my child didnt really like it - i think better for younger kids than older ones
9) there is a small shop for food etc but the selection is not huge or diverse - you are better off travelling 15-30 mins to a supermarket at the beginning of the week
10) check out was extremely efficient and we organised a private boat tour which was very good. The arcade room was a little run down also.

Overall good I would say the villas have everything you need a little run down but very large and spacious. The coast is very windy so be prepared for indoor activities.

Stunning resort & brilliant for kids, with loads of activities & 4 different pools. Only gripe is with the cost of the food, far too expensive e.g €25 for a burger in one restaurant & when Sagres town is a hefty walk with young children in tow, you have little option but to eat on site. On reflection we wish we’d got an apt with a kitchen so we could’ve self catered

Warm and welcoming staff. Very attentive to requests. The breakfast was excellent especially loved the fresh fruit, juices, variety of pastries, bread, omelets, vegan options as well as cheeses and meats/ salmon. The ocean view is spectacular. My kids enjoyed tennis, the beach, golf and the other activities at Kids club. It was close to Lagos and concierge arranged our trip to Benagil. The villa we lived in was very comfortable.
Look forward to visiting again.

lovely , quiet resort- great for families

very beautiful setting in a quiet surfer town. the house was very clean, they had mulitple recycling bins (huge plus) and a very nice welcome basket. The area we stayed in had a private pool only for people in that set of townhouses, and it was lovely. we were there in the off season, mostly families and very quiet, especially after 8. easy access to downtown Sagres and some great surfing beaches and little cafes. food onsight was decent and the staff friendly. the hotel beach was nice, but covered in slightly smelly seaweed. the only issue we had was that our internet didnt work until the night before we left. we said something on the first day but they did not fix it until it came time to send the bill over tv and we could not access it.

We loved this hotel and thought it was perfect for our little family. Everything is geared towards kids and well thought out. Staff are lovely and attentive. Food delicious. We stayed in one of the hotel rooms overlooking the sea. It was a great location and a view we never bored of. We were there a week as just a couple and despite the majority of the visitors were very young families we did not feel overwhelmed with children. We dined off site at the beech bar/restaurant, very short walk from the resort, and were able to be almost child free for dining and it was considerably more economical than the on site restaurants.

Quite literally a luxury family experience with a beautiful house and very nice restaurants on site with excellent facilities. We both came down with a non-COVID related illness in our last week and the reception was able to connect us to 24 hr medical attention and booked us straight into an appointment to see a doctor the next day. Definitely returning.

Beautiful location & resort

This was our first time visiting Portugal. The resort was easy to get to, offered parking for our rental and was beautiful. We had a really nice \"villa\" with plenty of space for our family of four, including our 16 & 17 year old teenagers.

We took advantage of the sports facilities, particularly the pools. My daughter is a competitive swimmer and was able to get some decent workouts in due to the size/length of two of the pools, plus my son had some great (and challenging) runs around the resort property.

When they say \"family resort\" here - they aren't kidding. There were lots of small children - not so many older kids, which was kind of a bummer for my kids, but still made for a very casual environment.

We sampled almost all but one of the restaurants, and tended to prefer the more casual offerings. The O Terraco restaurant had beautiful views, but I thought the food was more \"fancy\" or \"complex\" than I would've expected for a resort catering to young families. We did enjoy the Wolf Pop up grill (though it sold out of items early), Italian Restaurant and M Bar. Also, the market had good offerings for us to obtain breakfast items and snacks.

In general, I would give this location high marks and would consider returning again, as well as recommending to others.

Family-oriented Fancy Chain Resort

The Martinhal Sagres resort is ideal for a family vacation with young children. We came with my seven-month-old son and it was so nice to have the entire resort cater to children. Little things like every restaurant offering high chairs, bibs, baby spoons, and pureed baby food made it so much easier to manage meal times on vacation. There is tons of stroller parking at every location in the resort and a dedicated stroller ramp to get down to the pool and beach area. The room itself is very luxurious and spacious. They can provide a crib and baby bathtub, which made bathing and bedtime just as comfortable as at home. The view from the room was amazing. Also, the hotel has a daycare where you can leave your child so that the parents can enjoy various waterports (SUP, windsurfing, kayak tours) or just a quiet afternoon. Everything is very pricey, but you're paying for the quality of the service and the comfort of the accommodations.

De-stressed Family Holiday

This resort is great for families with children. Restaurants, pools and communal areas totally set up for peace of mind and de-stressing holiday parenthood. A few points to note - we visited in late May and the wind was excessive making the pool areas unpleasant. We are in all of the restaurants - the family casual dining restaurant was exceptional for what it was - the other more upscale options were good without being great. For top end food, suggest you head out to some of the local restaurants. Kids club was great although a word of warning, you need to book before you arrive to guarantee a place.

Amazing setting. Really spacious accommodations. Extremely helpful staff who found out it was my birthday and left a yummy chocolate birthday cake in the house we were staying in. We stayed there with our one year old.The house we stayed at was really spacious, well-equipped with a high chair, cot, nappy bins, cutlery/plates for toddlers. Welcome pack in the property with milk, juice, jam, etc. They have various playgrounds on-site, a well-equipped indoor play area for little ones, creche services. Really cool floaters for toddlers at the indoor pool. They also have bike rentals with toddler seats. It's a pity we couldn't stay longer and enjoy all the things this resort has to offer: tennis, spa etc... We would love to go back.

Great resort holiday with young kids

We had a two bedroom ocean apartment for the 4 of us (including kids under 4).

Super location.

Kids club excellent.

Food good but also used our own kitchen facilities and ate out of the resort a couple of times.....lots of flexibility.

Great swimming pools and beautiful beach.

All in all an excellent holiday and would definitely go back.

Villa and resort facilities were all top class.
We have two boys (5 & 3) and they were catered for really well. Safe and fun playgrounds next to all restaurants and bar so the kids can play whilst we relax and get some adult chat.

Kids clubs were great, fun activities and good facilities.
The sports clubs should consider the gap between so the parent doesn't need to come back for the 15 minute interchange.

Apart from that a lovely place and easy to relax as the kids are well catered for.

We’re just back from a fabulous holiday to Martinhal, we’d heard a lot about the resort and had many recommendations but we didn’t believe it all until we arrived ourselves. It’s a tiny piece of paradise in Europe, quick and easy to get to but feels like you’ve travelled miles to get to such an amazing locations. Resort is immaculate, beautiful scenery and views , staff are so polite, friendly
And efficient. We were travelling with our young baby and had a beach view hotel

Martinhal Sagres not for me again.

The hotel and the grounds are fantastic. We had a 2 bed apartment with a sea view. It was really nice.
They are really clean, they have everything you will need for a family. I don't know what the other rooms are like. The kids clubs have to be paid for in advance and if your kid doesn't turn up you are charged to your room. To send your kid to the kids club for a full day will cost you over 60 euro. You can send them for parts of the days for 20 euro a time. You will never need to use cash in the hotel. Everything is charged to your room. We had a few issues with this and had to get some overcharging sorted. The staff in the Italian restaurant are not nearly as good as the staff in the other 2. Food and drink is very expensive. A pizza will cost you 16 euro and a pint of the local Sagres beer will cost you 6 euro. This is a good hotel if you want to get rid of your kids for the day.

This resort is perfectly set up to make a stay with children extremely easy with a huge range of choices in restaurants for all ages, amazing and flexible kids clubs, treasure hunts and fully equipped kitchens inc dishwasher and microwave. They have kids channels on the TV and a DVD player should you want to bring any favourites from home.

The staff at the reception is unfriendly and lazy, the others however are very nice, friendly and service orientated. The hotel is very nice, good food, great view and situated in a remote but nice location. Everything you do or eat costs extra and these prices are very high - in the end it leaves a feeling of getting ripped off a bit.

Loved it (again!)

Our second trip to Martinhal and it lived up to the memories of the first trip in 2015. The children were soon at ease, the houses have enough space to relax and not feel like you're under each other's feet.
One thing we did note was that some parts of the accommodation are starting to look a bit tired and could do with a refresh - that hasn't stopped us looking at booking for next summer though.

Child centred relaxing family holiday

Spent a week here beginning of Oct. Played with the idea of cancelling this holiday as we were worried it may be too cold, but luckily the coastal wind remained calm and temperatures were around 25. It was just warm enough to be able to use the outdoor pools.

We used convenient airport transfer (booked by hotel staff, cost added to room bill). We didn't want to risk getting lost with a rental car in the middle of the night. We thought of hiring a car later for a trip to Lisbon but then discovered this would be a 3 hour journey one way, which seemed too much hassle with a 2 year old. We stayed in the resort all week, used the children's pool after breakfast, went to our village house for afternoon nap. Made use of the themed dinners and our little one enjoyed playing in the playground by the restaurants with all the other toddlers till bedtime.

We didn't feel the need to venture out to other towns or shops outside the resort as we had everything we needed on site. We could have booked a taxi to do a big (cheaper) grocery shop downtown and then self cater in our accommodation (\"Village House\"), as crockery, cutlery, pots etc. were all provided. I should have read previous reviews in more detail as I could have brought some additional 'essentials' such as washing detergent, coffee pods, rather than buying them in the resort supermarket.

We were totally anti self-catering before THIS holiday, but are now positively converted and shall be better prepared for next time.

Amazing for families

Stayed for a week with our 2 year old. This place is amazing for kids but also for adults.
The accommodation was first class and the pools and sandpit/trampoline area was heaven for our daughter.
Staff were really friendly and always on hand to help - they even tried to cheer up the kids if they were throwing a tantrum
Only downside was some of the drinks were very over-priced - 13 euros for a G&T
Would highly recommend
We were in the mimosa houses so set back but short walk to village square
Benefit of staying there was it has a private pool that no one ever seemed to use so I had the whole thing to myself

Service is excellent, breakfast was superb, with something for everyone. The children are totally looked after by the staff, everything is geared to relieving parts of too much stress. The beach room we stayed in was spacious, fabulous bathroom with walk in shower, all the amenities of spa quality, and great views of the beach. This rally is a wonderful resort, we could not fault it, even though we were there as a couple, we were not overrun by children and families and could find our own quieter spots.

Suitable for small family units with young children. Sounds snooty to say but no riffraff here- everyone is well turned out in tailored shorts/summer dresses etc. Not many tats, football tops, or larger drinking 'here mate' riffraff. The parents appear middle class hard working- podgy dads with trophy wives and the kids are called Emily, charlotte, Henry, Sebastian etc. (I laughed at the pool). Was costly, but then you pay for quality and this facility has all you need for a great family holiday in the algarve. Tip- hire a car.

Superb spacious child friendly accommodation

Spent 7 nights at Martinhal Sagres - we had an ocean deluxe 2 bed. With a toddler and a baby the accommodation was ideal and had been really well thought through - really felt like home from home in terms of all the equipment we had. The pools are great for small children - our son was just happy for hours on end playing in the paddling pools. Our children used the creche and the kids club and the staff seemed very competent - in fact our son liked it so much he wanted to go back after they had closed. The 'village square' is great with small children - you can sit and watch the sun go down with a drink.

Couple of things to think about if you visit this place:
- Having a hire car was ideal for us - meant we could easily go to the close by local supermarket and do day trips. The cost of the hire wasn't much more than a transfer
- I will give it the benefit of the doubt as we weren't in high season (May) but Sagres wasn't the best - not a lot to see and do. Hence comment above - if you want to see something of the Algarve you really need a hire car
- The resort is quite hilly down from reception to the main pool - there are buggy ramps but its better to walk or carry your child down and leave your buggy at the top
- It's not easy to find out what equipment the accommodation comes with ahead of arrival but they are really well equipped (inc washer/ dryer) for families so its easy to self cater. Also ask for the list of baby equipment that can be provided

I cannot rate this hotel enough. The standards of care, service and cleanliness are second to none and we had the holiday of a lifetime. It is pricey but, unlike some hotels, it lives up to it's cost - and more. I would definitely re-book and it's a lovely spot to holiday. Portugal is a wonderful, friendly and clean country and this hotel captures that culture. Stunning beaches, delicious food and friendly staff who cared for our son and us. Expedia offered a good mid-season package with flights.

For those wanting a family holiday with a 'home' for a base, Martinhal provides all that is needed - along with lovely views from the ocean houses. Well presented, comfortable and easy to live in. For those with older families, the restaurants can be a little noisy - but the main restaurant tips the balance back with lovely panoramic views of the bay, and there are plenty of options town.

The resort is fantastic for young children with playgrounds, pools and clubs galore. The villas are fab. Only problem is the food. The terrace is the only restaurant that does good food. Others are poor. The supermarket on site is poorly stocked and far too expensive eg. 18€ for 11 swim nappies. Take a taxi to the local supermarket. Would say it's more of a 4 star but still a great holiday destination.

Our recent stay at the hotel was great. Not a five star hotel but by far a super hotel with kids in tow. It definitely is set up to ensure parents enjoy it as equally as the kids do. Our three year old was a joy during the week - mainly because there was so much for her to do.

Food in the restaurants could certainly be improved - other reviewers comment on it not being value for money and this is definitely accurate, but there are lots of great little restaurants in Sagres so you are no forced to eat at the resort.

All in all I would most definitely return and would highly recommend for families.

Perfect family vacation with vacation for parents!

This property and staff are wonderful! This was our second stay (2 years later) and we were thrilled to have a vacation where our children could be entertained in a safe organized environment and we could get a little break too!

The kids clubs are amazing and though our kids felt a bit older this time ( ages 6 , 7), they loved the facilities and having some freedom from us.

Restaurants (especially the seafood) are excellent quality and all have great kid options that are healthy.

Our ocean house was a perfect size and outfitted with just the right amount of kitchen gadgets needed for breakfast and some lunches in.

Mercado onsite is well priced and has a decent selection. It is quite slow for coffee service though. There is a supermarket not far if you want other options.

Overall wonderful stay. If you want to travel with small children--under 6--I couldn't recommend any place more than Martinhal. They have such wonderful amenities for young families in the villas, kids clubs, and restaurants.

5th stay with young children. Accommodation and setting is excellent. Downsides are very expensive bar and restaurant for average quality food. Also this time there was a lot more families with babies and toddlers which the resort really does cater for, so fewer friends for my 8 year old twins.

Great accommodation not so great restaurants

We just came back from a week in a 2 bed sea view house. Whilst the house, resort and facilities are top notch we were less impressed with the restaurants and staff. The restaurants are very expensive for what they are and the village shop is a rip off! By day 3 we decided this was a self catering holiday and that we should explore local restaurants. A car is an absolute must as you really are quite stuck in the area otherwise. The waiting staff do seem to spend most of the time standing around chatting.
The accommodation was awesome and the views stunning! Highly reccomend house 207 ocean view!
If you don't mind your holiday being self catering then you will have a wonderful trip!

Brilliant family village by the beach

My husband and I with our two year old have just had a weeks holiday here staying in one of the vila mimosa's which had two bedrooms and bathrooms. Living area was great being upstairs. We enjoyed breakfast each morning on the balcony with lovely views of the resort. The house had all the facilities I needed and was only a short walk from the village square. Staff were always really nice and brilliant with our son. Our son loved all the playgrounds, indoor softplay, pools and lovely quiet beach. There is also a bike hire place which we did one day and really enjoyed. The food at the restaurants was delicious although a bit pricey. The evening restaurant in the hotel had a free babysitting service in an adjacent room which was a great. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed staying here and would definitely recommend it for families.

Beautiful place, lovely staff, great food!

A wonderful hotel, not great for couples as it's a family resort, but in low season we didn't find this a problem. Gorgeous food, breakfasts amazing. A little far from the town but the hotel can book hotels and charge it to your room. Gym and pool facilities excellent.

Really good for family!

Really good for family! With free kids club (in the winter), and great activities and crew.
The rooms are beautiful, large and we enjoyed the view (Ocean House)
The hotels has multiple pools and lots of ground so it's never overcrowded which is great.
The restaurant is good but not exceptional and is quite expensive for Portugal (It's UK price)
Diner room can be noisy with crying babies (our kids a bigger) so I guess it may not be the best choice if you are a couple.

Relaxing place, perfect for a family break

The hotel is on a beautiful spot, right on the beach and in a national park, so there's no shops or tourist traps about. It's a relaxing and well maintained place, with plenty to do for adults and kids alike. The staff are excellent with the children and the restaurants are all geared up for families. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable so it can be used as self catering or as a base for eating out at the on site restaurants every night. There are lots of activities on site, including 3 heated pools and a watersports facility.

The resort was in a great location. We were able to walk to Sagres and tour the city. The beach area was well maintained. We had a great room with a great view. It was very clean. The bathroom had a tub as well as a walk in shower. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely return. The pool areas were always clean. Service at all the restaurants and Deli was exceptional. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us.

Lovely accommodation. Would have preferred a mirror somewhere downstairs. The living area downstairs was not very light and could have done with brighter light to read in the evening. everything else excellent and a very enjoyable stay.

Paradise for parents with small children

We (a couple and a 7 month old) spent here a wonderful relaxing week in September. We could not believe how child friendly and comfortable the house was (Garden house). Our little one learned to crawl in here, as both the garden covered by soft and dense grass and the house were perfectly child safe, and offered lots of space. The staff was excpetionally friendly, the \"nothing is too much of a hassle\" attitude was notable thoughout, e.g. we got an ergo child carrier delivered to our room within minutes, depite not having booked it in advance.

The whole resort ouzes style and understated luxury, the architecture is mostly Corbusier like and resonated well with the natural surroundings. Spending time at the beach was pure bliss, especially the convenient and shaded location between beach and the pool. Also Sagres and the nearby beaches are worth a visit or more, I wish we stayed for longer to explore the region a little bit more. Just a wonderful spot for a relaxed vacation with small kids. Do expect to pay a lot for everything - the prices are at least London standard or above. A car is a must - as you can top up your supply in the nearby large supermarket. The restaurant staff seemed a little distracted at times - several people served the same table, sometimes there were communication issues I think, but nothing is completely perfect and their friendliness added some charm.

Excellent for families, couples or singles

We Booked a 2 bed villa, it was an excellent property, like home from home, everything you needed was provided and the property was well equipped, all mod cons and appliances fitted, a complementary breakfast pack was also provided which included cereal, bread, milk etc, it's certainly the place to take children, front desk was Efficient and staff friendly, they al spoke perfect English. We used one of the onsite restaurants to purchase a takeaway, the food was delicious and meat very tender. There's a supermarket onsite and large chain supermarket within 5 min drive away which stocks all the essentials. We were a little unsure whether to book this resort due to the distance from the airport, however it's an excellent drive from the airport, less than 1hr 30min using toll road so don't worry about the distance. The toll roads are easy navagiable and have an abundance of service areas to stop, refuel, allow children etc to play on playground areas. A car is essential if you book this resort due to it being away from public transport links. If you hire a car ask the rental company for an automatic toll road device, which simplifies driving on toll roads.

Wonderful Resort, Hotel and Location

Having stayed for two weeks with my wife and 17 month old daughter, I can't recommend this family resort enough. We stayed in a three bedroom Bay View house, which had all of the home comforts needed - and very well set up for children. The staff had set up a travel cot with bedding before we arrived, and were always polite and helpful. We used the Creche and Kids Club a couple of times, and the various play areas by the different swimming pools were all well specced and safe. We ate at each of the restaurants, each offering a reasonable choice and always something healthy for the little one. The onsite shop had almost everything you could need, and lovely fresh bread each day. There were a number of areas you could relax, either by one of the pools or close to the beach. The general setup and facilities are very well considered, and we will certainly be returning for another holiday.

Superb resort. Geared up for kids and Mums and Dads alike. Our three yearold loved the beach, the pool, Kids Club and the boat climbing frame in the market square.

Will be going back for years to come....

This was our first family trip with our 8 month old baby and it was perfect! The staff were really friendly and helpful. The hotel was really clean and always well prepared. The villas were spotless and well equipped with everything that you'll need....even for an 8 month old baby. There were high chairs and baby cots already set up as well as baby gates installed. Throughout the hotel resturants high chairs were avaliable along with a dedicated baby menu.

The food and amenties were excellent too and the whole place felt safe and child friendly.

Fantastic child friendly resort

Absolutely the best children friendly villa resort we have ever stayed in! The 3 restaurants open early and they have a playground right next to them which is perfect for children. The facilities are fantastic - trampoline (supervised), football, playgrounds x3, Nintendo wii, table tennis, paddle tennis (smaller than tennis so perfect for smaller children), tennis, table football, pool etc. villa itself was perfect - 2 balconies, one for watching sunrise and one for sunset!

Very beautiful, distinctly family oriented resort

We traveled to the Algarve, and wanted to stay at a resort with beautiful views in an uncrowded location with lovely facilities, close to sport and historic attractions. We got all of that, but what we didn't expect was the very large emphasis on young children at our resort. It was a fantastic place, but very \"tot-oriented!\" We didn't arrive with a young child, but with a young adult daughter, and the place was crawling with babies. It was very upscale, with a spa, nice restaurants, a beautiful beach, mulitiple pools, attractive & well-dressed young families with grandparents in tow. We didn't really mind, because we didn't eat at the resort because we were out and about so much. But, at the gourmet restaurants at the resort, they actually have baby food and toddler food on the menu. My husband had a problem with our rental car, and the front desk took charge and helped him with everything. They went way beyond the norm to be helpful! Our apartment was beautifully decorated, with all amenities and had the most gorgeous views. We were very happy there!

Excellent set up for families

This is a very attractive and relaxing place to stay and particularly good for families with kids from toddlers to early teens. The facilities are very good: pools, gym, tennis courts and it over looks a beach. Most families stay in self catering accommodation that is of a very high standard, cleaned daily, and there is a choice of restaurants and a shop with all the basics including fresh coffee. Nearby surfing, dolphin trips, golf and more....

Excellent family hotel

Resort is large and well maintained. Due to its size it doesn't feel crowded even when busy. The Ocean two bedroom houses are very large and provide space for a family to stretch out - far superior to vacationing at a large hotel where you would be stuck in a normal hotel room. Great beach, selection of pools, nice kids clubs and friendly service.

Luxury and comfort with excellent food.

A luxury experience in a hotel complex which well deserves it's recent awards. Staff were friendly and helpful and the quality of the food and accommodation were first class. The restaurant provided a good range of well cooked food and a knowledgeable wine waiter was available with good advice on matching dishes with unfamiliar Portuguese wines.

Lovely pre Christmas break

We were in a lovely room. The layout is a bit odd in the suites with a bathroom downstairs, miles away from the bedroom (a bit difficult to go to the loo in the night). But the views are amazing, the staff really helpful and the breakfast buffet was the icing on the cake, yummy.

Nice location and facilities reflect the price

The hotel is in the modern style which was perhaps a little jarring just after experiencing the elegance of the Sagres Pousada. However, the facilities reflect the price: for example, the pastries at breakfast were as good as you could buy in most Parisian bakeries. Although, having said that they are not quite as good or nearly as varied as those at the famous Pastelaria Beira Mar in Quarteira.

The only down side is that the hotel caters specially for families with young children, which makes the pool un-usable by my wife who is a wicked old witch who would boil them all in oil given half a change. But seriously... I glanced into the elegant pool-side restaurant as they were setting up for lunch and every table was set with a high chair at its head.

Great family resort. Overpriced restaurants though

We spent 11 nights in Martinhal in June. The first week was as windy as other reviewers have commented but the second week was much calmer. The resort is very well set up for families with very young children and is very baby-friendly. We travelled with a 3 and 5 year old and they felt a little older than the norm.

We stayed in an Ocean House which was very will kitted out in the living areas but somewhat basic in the bedroom and bathrooms - although the beds, bedding, pillows and toileteries were all very high quality.

The pools are fine and the beach location is stunning and definitely makes paying more for an ocean view worthwhile.

The kids clubs are great but they aren't free and so that's to be expected.

The thing that lets the resort down is overpriced restaurants that are severing average food with poor (but enthusiastic0 service. If you're going to charge €17 for a pizza then it shouldn't take 1 hour to arrive!. Similarly, €70 for breakfast for a young family of four is pushing it #even with the sparkling wine#.

In conclusion, Martinhal is a great resort with loads going for it. We would go back if we could get a good deal on the accommodation. However, unless you're happy to overpay for food and drink you might want to approach it as more of a self catering property.

P.S. Recommend that you hire a car to get out there from Faro as you really do want a car to explore the other nearby beaches #many of which are more sheltered if it is especially windy)
