It was a spacious apartment with a well equipped kitchen with a helpful staff. The location was close to restaurants and the beach and it had a quiet ambience. We stayed for one week and found it quite affordable. We had a large bakcony and the king bed was very comfortable.

The condo was spacious and the cleaning staff actually came in 3 times over the 8 day period we were there. They did a wonderful job of keeping the condo spotless. We loved the huge patio with a partial ocean view. We would often sit out there in the late afternoon and enjoy a glass of wine and some cheese. Tons of closet and dresser drawers for our clothing. It's a beautiful facility with a wonderful pool area and an excellent on site restaurant.

The apartment was okay to good. I was concerned about a lack of security. The door to the building had a broken lock so anyone could walk in. The complex is starting to feel its age and could use a refresh if they want to keep charging luxury prices. But they were friendly and the place is overall a nice place to stay.

Our Apartment had everything we needed

Loved the location, short walk to beach and town centre. Praia da Luz is a small, slightly sleepy, town, with a dominant headline and day mark. Coastal path from Sagre to Lagos and beyond gives good views of the stunning rock formations which the Algarve is famous for.

Just a wonderful relaxed and enjoyable stay, best apartment we have ever stayed in - huge! Duplex apartment with view out to sea. Spotlessly clean. So peaceful. Lovely swimming pool to laze around, with a separate children’s pool for the little ones. Pool side restaurant with very friendly service, good food and great service - goats cheese salad is a delight! 5-10 min wonder into Luz and the beach. Very relaxed 10 days. If you want more buzzyness, it’s a 10 min drive to Lagos. Loved it, highly recommended.

This is a stunning property. The location is perfect as the beach is literally a 5 minute stroll away. The property itself is quite remarkable. It truly is 5 star. The apartment was very spacious & completely up to date & modernised. It’s fully equipped with a superb fitted kitchen, washing machine, dishwasher etc. The bedroom is beautiful too & the dining room superb too. I could not recommend it enough & would return again.

Very nice units. Well equipped. Walking easy distance to beach and grocery stores. People are very friendly. We ate at the restaurant on property very good. Used the local bus to go into Lagos convient also walked the bluffs to Lagos one day and walked to another great beach town other direction ( sorry forget the name started with a B) Only one pool operational as construction on other one but it was heated 😊😊 and noise was not too bad. Much quieter town than Lagos but lots of restaurants great beach and easy to get into Lagos

Fabulous week

We had a fantastic week at this hotel with our 11 month old and 4 year old plus grandparents in two apartments. Our family apartment was like a hotel penthouse! So roomy and spacious with a huge living / dining area, separate kitchen with every appliance we could need including a washing machine and dryer. Two lovely big double bedrooms with their own bathrooms and separate air conditioning units. Huge outdoor terrace area which wrapped around with a little garden to the front. The pool area was always quiet and we loved the pool inflatable and toys free to use plus play area. The small baby pool was perfect and our older child enjoyed swimming in the larger pool too. Faultless staff at the poolside bar and restaurant - Allora.

Great rooms to a very good standard.

The rooms are large, we had a ground floor with 2 bedrooms floor plan approx. 8X20m. All fixtures, fittings, appliances and utensils are virtually new. All windows had electric shutters for security and blackout purposes.
Room access is via touch key card, building access is via a gate with numerical keypad. Seems safe and secure but you cannot lock the door from within to stop it being opened by a child (for instance), security chain might be useful.
Property is located on outskirts of resort, the first side road you hit when driving into Luz from Lagos. Our block was off the main complex and was about 10-15 minutes walk to the resort centre and beach. This was pretty well lit at night, but the back road is a bit exposed to traffic - not much but local drivers are bit lary.
Resort was pretty quiet as this was second week in October but restaurants in the town were all pretty busy. On site restaurant is excellent quality and good value.

Another great stay here.

Fabulous place to stay where nothing is too much trouble. Staff are helpful and genuine.
The apartments have what you need and more - although both apartments that we have stayed in didn't have full length mirrors - but that's certainly not a complaint.
Great second stay and I would imagine we'll be back at a later point again.

The quality and comfort of the apartment was exceptional but the service provided by Reception was initially very disappointing. Luz and Lagos were ideal locations for us and the Portuguese people are friendly good folk. The food in the area and the Italian restaurant on site was exceptional the only problem was it was virtually impossible to book a table.

We stayed here for 4 days and we were pleasantly surprised with how comfortable the apartment was. It was very spacious and had exactly what you needed in the kitchen, bathroom etc (we stayed on a self catering basis). From check in, the staff were very friendly and whenever we had any questions they were helpful, although could be improved. The pool is not the largest but we found it sufficient and very relaxing, and approx a 10 min walk away is the local beach which was fantastic. You'll need to hire sunbeds / umbrellas if you don't have your own which is pretty standard so no real issues there, and there's plenty of restaurants / cafes to take your pick from. We hired a car and would recommend as it was so easy to get into main Lagos where there's heaps more places to eat, sights to see etc, with driving not being a problem. Without a car getting taxi's may get a bit tedious, and there's not all that much going on here so may not be the best location if you don't have access to a car. The apartment offers free parking too with our own allocated space giving quick access to our room which was great, only complaint here being our allocated parking had quite a few pillars making getting out the spot rather difficult! Overall though, the rooms were fantastic and really spacious, so would really recommend for those looking to not be in the city centre as such but more of a quiet resort.

Cannot find any negatives, situated near Luz Beach, lovely facilities, which were very well maintained. Fantastic staff, good food from the pool bar and onside Italian restaurant. Apartment was clean, modern and faultless. More than we could have hoped for. We even had access to the facilities before our room was ready and after we checked out, which was lovely. Only thing for us was Luz was a bit quiet in April and lacked a huge choice in restaurants. If staying for two weeks you may need to drive or be taxied to Lagos or Rocha for more choice. Food we had out in restaurants was very good though.

We saw nothing but good reviews and were curious how things would be. Could not be happier with how it all went. Shame to come home.

A spacious one bed room apartment which was very well equipped. However, the two sets of staircases make it unsuitable for elderly people or those with young children. I found the idea of a surcharge for using the room safe bizarre, surely they should charge an extra pound or so per night and thus avoid this irritating issue. The receptionist we dealt with was first class, welcoming and professional. The three pools [adult, family, paddling] is a great feature, a pity the English guests couldn't read the complex map and to be fair a bit of signage wouldn't go amiss. All in all a really good complex but a few minor amendments would deliver a first class experience.

Had a super time. Hotel better than expected. Nothing too much bother for staff. Our plane was delayed and we arrived 4 hours late (1.15am). The night porter was so cheery and helped us with cases from our transfer taxi at that hour. On arrival we soon forgot our delay experiences as we were so pleased with the very spacious apartment with its underfloor heating. Well equipped and everything, but everything you need for comfort. The views onto the gardens were lovely. Much topiary and tropical plants. The outdoor pool was nice and warm, even in mid-March. The beach was a very pleasant short walk.

It’s our second time at the Baia da Luz and we will most certainly return.

•Staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
•Flats are spacious, clean and quiet.
•Units contain all modern amenities (washing machine, dish washer, stainless microwave and oven and utensils) along with cable TV and WIFI.
•Free underground carpark and plentiful exterior parking if you simply can’t squeeze your vehicle in.
•Great location near beaches, historic sites and shopping.

I strongly recommend them if you are looking to spend some quality R&R family time in the area.

High quality accommodation, quieter than Estrella

Excellent apartment (2 bedroom+duplex) with loads of space, and clearly very well maintained. Ours was in block 39 which I reckon has the best views and the best location, being quiet and close to the pool area/Alloro restaurant (which was very good and reasonably priced, too).

Kitchen was well equipped, everything we needed as a group of 5 adults.

A five minute walk through a quiet lane to the beach. The outdoor pool was heated in December, but you'd still need to be a hardy soul as the outside air wasn't!

All in all, an excellent resort.

The only quibble - and I genuinely don't understand this - is that they charge you to use the safe in your apartment. Totally bonkers, the safe is no more a luxury than a kettle. Surely they can work out that keeping valuables safe removes any possibility of mistrust between customers and Baia staff? A really stupid policy, I've never seen this in any other holiday accommodation anywhere in the world. Especially at this level of quality!

Our accommodation is only a short walk to the beach and local bus stop which is convenient and ideal for us. Poolside restaurant serves really nice Italian food. Excellent resort with everything within a 10 minute walk. Very secure as there was a security gate to get into our apartment block and all of the doors/windows had roller shutters which were a great security feature and were also great to keep the sun out during the day to keep the apartment nice and cool.

The Italian restaurant on site was excellent, we ate there twice during our stay. Very safe and secure pool area. Access was through a coded security gate. Excellent staff throughout the resort who were extremely helpful and were always willing to help.

The apartment had everything you could possibly need. It was like a home from home! Very clean and modern with high end appliances throughout.

Very spacious 2 bedroom apartment with good quality equipment. Although subjective, The only downside was the beds and pillows which were hard and lumpy. As we were there during the Olympics, it was great having English TV channels to watch when getting ready in the morning.
We hired a car and there was free garage parking with an allocated space for our apartment, which made unloading luggage really simple - just a few steps from the lift which took us right to the apartment.
Swimming pools were nice although the area for sun loungers was a bit limited. However we usually found somewhere whenever we came down.
Plenty of nice places to eat in Praia da Luz but the best of all is Alloro at Baia da Luz. Excellent value for money food and fantastic staff, who are great with kids.
5 minute walk to the beach along small roads(no pavements) though generally safe. Loads of water sports at the beach with 2 companies operating there. Chico Time offer better value than Beach Hut Watersports and were generally more friendly.

Spacious/clean/functional apartments in very good condition (dishwasher/washer/fridge freezer/wifi/hairdryer included).
We were close to the pool which was perfect for us with a 3 year old in tow.
Could not fault the staff or the onsite restaurant as food was very good. Added in the fact you can get takeaway when you have had a busy day made this a perfect holiday for us.

We arrived early and were allowed to use the facilities whilst we waited for our room to be ready. We were upgraded to a two bedroom apartment which was spotlessly clean and had all the amenities you could wish for. Nice touches were the milk, water, oranges, dishwasher and washing machine tablets. Loved having a front and back balcony as it meant no matter what time of day there was a sunny or shady spot to sit out at. Cleaners came twice during our stay with fresh towels etc.
Never had a problem getting a sunbed by the pool and loved the fact that under 16s had their own pool which meant it was always nice and quiet around the adult pool. Fantastic food at the Italian restaurant on site. Did try a couple of restaurants in town/on the beach which were also very nice. Also loved having the underground parking so the car kept nice and cool ready for if we wanted to venture out. Couldn't praise the accommodation or the staff more (except for the young lady on reception who I think was called Beatrice who could take a leaf out of her colleagues books as she was not the friendliest or most helpful of people!). All in all couldn't recommend it more. Five star experience. We will be back.

Amazing stay!

This is an amazing spot for families to stay. The apartment was superb - spacious and amazingly well stocked with crockery etc. The pools are great - a separate one for adults and children. My only gripe is the lack of sun shade especially for guests that are predominantly English / Irish! There are plenty of beds but a serious lack of sun umbrella shades. There is a pool attendant however his main concern is stopping you from eating and drinking your own food and beverages rather than preventing guests from reserving their beds leaving them unoccupied for long periods of time. That said, the beach is just a 5 minute walk and our trip was really fantastic!

We had a great holiday mainly due to the amazing beach which was up there with the best i have been too.The hotel pools were very dissapointing though especially if you have teenage children.The adult pool was over sixteen and there family pool was fairly small and full of toddlers so it was no good for my 13 year old.Also the chances of getting a sunbed by either pool were very slim unless there at 6am.
For this reason we spent 9 of our 10 days on the beach which had plenty reasonably priced sunbeds or for a few euros more you could get wifi and bar service which we did and it was well worth it...What a beach!

Popular pool, so I'd recommend getting there before 9am. Booking meals in Luz is advised as the restaurants can be extremely busy, especially at weekends. All in all a wonderful stay!

Great Local, Great Place, Only Minor Complaints

The apartment and the location was great, less than 5 mins walking distance from the beach. The 2 pools were very nice and though we did not eat at the restaurant and had drinks from the bar, it was still a nice option to have. Had beautiful views of the town and the ocean was also very cosy. I really liked the upstairs walk in shower with the roof vented windows as well as the small terrace. The only 2 complaints that I had about the place was that the in room safe was 15 Euro a week extra. This is kind of ridiculous being that most places have a safe included in the room at no extra charge. If you desperately needed to charge someone for a room safe, just include it in the price of the room and just don't tell anyone about it. Secondly, when the maid came to clean our rooms, she did not replace our toiletries including shampoo, soap, and shower gel ON BOTH CLEANING DAYS. Sure we brought some of our own items but its always nice to have replenishment when needed. With that said, it was still a very nice place and we enjoyed our stay. We would consider booking again with some place similar in the region.

The overall stay at Baia da Luz was great! The apartments are very new and clean and well appointed. It was very convenient with a baby and the walk to the beach is only a few streets away, very close! We did have one noisy neighbour for a few days but the hotel was really great about speaking to them. The walls are a bit thin so you get used to the quiet and then noisy people really become more obvious.

Great hotel! Not on the beach, but very close, less than 4 minutes walking. Gorgeous grounds, big beautiful apartment. Each room had its own climate control so we could all set the bedrooms to the temperature we liked. Very large outdoor terrace perfect for soaking up the southern portugal sun! The resort was within a short drive (20 min or less) from many different small towns, both beachside and inland, that were perfect for exploring and eating in. My only complaint is that our door keys didnt work when we first checked in so we had to return to the front desk twice to get them replaced. But the staff were courteous and helpful and I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

We had a fantastic room on the outskirts of the complex - we had two balconies both with fantastic views of the town and sea - the room was modern and very clean with a fully fitted kitchen with every utensil and gadget you could need. Staff were very helpful and friendly, The grounds and communal areas were immaculate and the pool facilities were great even though it was too cold to use them as we went there early on in the year. Enjoyed relaxing in the evenings in the very comfortable lounge. A home away from home - would thoroughly recommend this as a place to stay :)

Beautiful hotel, close to the beach, near Lagos

We had a lovely 7 night stay at this hotel. It's was peaceful and tranquil except for the noisy neighbours upstairs that woke me up at 0600hrs daily and the occasional noise from the traffic. Staff are terrific. Lovely restaurants to dine in by the sea. Beautiful and lovely sandy beach. We took a bus to Lagos (can be done daily) to sight see. Took only 30mins. Will definitely return, and would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing. X

Lovely Accommodations

The Baia da Luz is a very nice resort offering multiple room choices. We arrived late after a very long trip and the front desk staff were more than helpful in providing information on the area and where we might get something to eat. We booked a one bedroom unit and stayed in an end unit with a loft area and lovely sea view that could have accommodated more than the two of us. Our unit featured newer appliances including a washing machine which was great to have. The proximity of the hotel to the beach and area restaurants was a short 5 minute walk. Everything in the unit was in good working order and when we found there was no coffee press, staff were very quick to bring us one. The cleaning and maintenance staff were always very polite and attentive.

Great relaxing stay, Luz is a quiet resort if that's what you're after. Some of the apartment was a little tired and worn and was in need of a refresh, apart from that we enjoyed our stay. Adult only pool was really warm most days where as the family pool was cold until the afternoon. On-site restaurant was great and staff ate fantastic towards children.

Would definitely recommend but unlikely to return to Luz.

Nice hotel that is close to beach and mountain towns. Very quiet and nicely appointed. Each apartment is like a time share unit. Only complaint, no salt, pepper or oilive oil. However, not a big deal as a market is nearby.

We have just returned from a fabulous 12 days at the Baia.

The apartment was spotless with everything you may need for your holiday stay.

Perfect location with just a short stroll either down to the beach and prom, or up to the old Luz road with further shops, restaurant and bars.

As other reviewers have stated, the onsite restaurant Alloro is lovely with delicious meals and good wine. The pool bar is fine, serving affordable drinks and decent food.

I travelled with my parents in late September. It remained reasonably busy in the resort (we still had to book tables in the evening to get in most of the amazing choice of restaurants that were on offer).

We felt safe and were comfortable - what more do you need. There were no problems at this time of year with sunbeds. The adult pool was a nice touch - very quiet and relaxing and managed to get some exercise to swim off all the meals I'd eaten. :)

I would not hesitate to recommend or to return to Baia.

Loved our apartment - all items were in excellent condition. Beautiful resort and lovely pools.Everything was well maintained and clean (although dusty under beds and around night tables) Lots of storage rooms and enjoyed having 2 bathrooms. Cleaners were friendly but failed to turn up first day. Reception staff were fairly friendly and dutiful and helpful when we had any issue at the apartment although found Juliana a bit rude when we checked in and asked a question before she had finished telling us her blurb, asking us to wait until she finished talking!! Poolside restaurant was ok, nothing special. Some of the staff were friendly, and one was extremely unfriendly and unhelpful on our final day - refused to give us a plastic cup!!! We had eaten and bought drinks throughout our week there!!! This was very small minded and left us feeling very negative about the place. Would have give top marks for the place if it wasnt for some of the staff letting the place down. They should not charge for safe in room. Also mean to charge for towel usage.

Amazing apartment, great view, very close to beach

We had the apartment for 5 people, with mezzazine. The apartment was amazing, the room was clean, spacious and beautifully stylish - better than what we expected. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the service was excellent. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and check-in was simple and quick and easy to follow. We were given a map of the area and the reception staff gave us a few personal recommendations on local restaurants and supermarkets.
The apartment is only about 10 minutes walk to Praia da Luz beach, which is very peaceful and has a beautiful view.

Quiet resort close to Lagos

We were heading towards the Algarve from Lisbon and many friends warned us that the south is full of tourists! Wanting to explore Lagos and the beaches we decided to stay in Luz which is a cute more quiet resort with a nice beach and decent restaurants. The hotel was amazing! Very clean, spacious and well-kept with modern amenities like washer and dish washer. We were able to have breakfast or wine and snacks outside on the terrace overlooking the ocean, the view was beautiful, the apartment very airy and bright. Only small downside is the pool is small but I would definitely stay there again!

Short walk to the beach and BEAUTIFUL apartment

Perfect location for the beach. The apartments have great wifi, English television, washing machine, and every utensil you could need. The apartment is large and comfortable, with modern decor. The restaurant is good- Italian. Their pool is medium sized, but don't fret, they have 3! Would definitely recommend! The beach is beautiful, just like the little town.

Great location in lovely village

Really enjoyed our stay here, the apartment was clean and very well-equipped. Good size as well and a generous balcony which was nice and private.
Hired a car for a few days and toured along coast to Sagres and north, back through the 'mountains' - but don't rely on the in-car mapping system being up to date, as it isn't and it will send you through some fairly 'interesting' back doubles when the main roads would have been simpler! Great for getting closer to local life though.... Burgau and Salema have lovely beaches and Amado beach was a surfers paradise.
Recommend the Arribale restaurant in Lagos - small with great food, reasonable prices and lovely people running the place (but take cash as cards not accepted).

It was a pleasant stay we were too close to the adult pool and there were young children (12-15?) playing in it cannon balls screaming running without parents nearby. The front desk was unable to send anyone over and asked us to talk to the children which we already had the day which did not help the children came back in full force the next day. There is a children's pool nearby the adult pool. The Apt had all the modern conveniences along with washing machine plentiful parking, secure and well lit.

Superb Location, Quality and Staff

Outstanding location - nestled in quiet peaceful spot, the location of these apartments complex benefits from being just a short easy walk (stroll) to the beach, shops and restaurants. Best of both worlds as you gain a pleasant peaceful environment and also quick access to a very well provided centre and stunning beach. The apartment was spotless, and the complex is extremely well managed - it would be hard to find anything out of place. The reception staff were excellent, responsive, professional, well mannered and graceful - a credit to the complex. There is a lovely heated pool which is designated for adults only and whilst our visit was not during peak holiday season we appreciated an adult area. Close by is another pool for children to use, and also a baby paddling pool. For families there is a playground area for children, and for teenagers the use near the pools of bar football, and pool. A café is available during the day, and an excellent restaurant in the evening (although is closed in February). Tennis courts and sports pitch is also available. The room was very well furnished and had a large terrace to enjoy the Sunshine. This is a top resort, beautifully managed in a first rate location.

Disappointing

We booked after reading so many good reviews but we were disappointed when we arrived. The apartment itself was a good size and the kitchen was fully equipped but the bed was very uncomfortable and the tv was the size of a small computer monitor, not the 32\" that was advertised, and there were very few satellite channels available - just Sky News, Pick, CBS Drama & CBS Reality. We also had a lot of noise from the external gate leading to the apartment block & noisy neighbours which kept us awake every night. On the positive side the cleaners were very good and the restaurant was excellent.

Stunning apartment - perfect for quiet break

I stayed with my partner and toddler in a two bed apartment. It was a beautiful and spacious home away from home. All the facilities you could ask for, along with privacy, and three balconies to enjoy. My daughter was deligted she could watch her DVD's in the mornings. We were just across the road from the swimming pools and on site restaurant which had fantastic food. The beach is a five minute walk away and also has great restaurants.

Nice apartment in a quiet location

This facility is very spacious and clean. Security is good with easy check in and out. Furniture and appliances are of high quality with ample air conditioning. If there are any complaints its that its hard to find without satnav, the town is very quiet and that the cleaners only clean the lavatories and nake the bed. They do not cgange the linen or clean other areas.
I would use the apartments again.

Let down by facilities

Great apartments but there are only 2 small pools for hundreds of people so little chance of sun beds. Good location in Praia. Staff let us down as they promised to call us when apartment ready after early arrival but failed to do so. Noisy neighbours and smokers flicking lit cigs on to our balcony not what you would expect but manager was helpful in this regard.

Excellent apartments. We had 2 bedroom with mezzanine. Effectively grandparents had their own suite above ours. Great location near beach and restaurants. No problem getting beds at the pool. I would highly recommend the complex although Luz is about 85km from Faro airport so you need to hire a car.

Fantastic apartments!

Prior to our arrival we booked a two bedroom apartment and had requested a quiet room with a nice balcony (as with young children, we knew we'd be spending our evenings there) - we couldn't have been happier with what greeted us! The apartment was a little way (just a few minutes walk) from the main complex around the swimming pool, which concerned me initially, but it was just fantastic. We had a top floor, 2/3 bedroom, 3 bathroom duplex apartment, with a huge balcony and a huge, fully equipped, kitchen - it was amazing. As for the walk to the swimming pool, it might be slightly more convenient to be located closer with younger children, but it's not essential. The facilities at the pool are just as immaculate as the apartments, and for young children, there's a toddler pool and play area - my two boys (2 and 4 yrs) loved it there! However, there is an adult only pool for those who don't want to be surrounded by children, which looked lovely.

The apartments are situated about a 5 (or 10 with toddlers!) minute walk to the beach, where the majority of restaurants/cafes are. The resort is lovely, but small, and had we been staying longer than a week, we may have hired a car for a few days to see some sights. Overall, great holiday, fantastic accommodation!

What lovely apartments, very comfortable everything you could want in a holiday apartment, very well equipped kitchen even a dishwasher our 1bedroom apartment had 4 balconies. The restaurant attached to the apartments was very good, we had a few lovely meals there.
Nothing is very far away another restaurant just round the corner Ondalus was very good as well. Don't think anyone would be disappointed in these apartments we will definitely be back

Myself, my husband and our 4 1/2 year old son stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment which was immaculate, modern and spacious. It had a main bathroom plus an en suite off our bedroom. The kitchen was fully fitted with all accessories you would need. The only thing we expected but did not have was satellite television as the card had been removed by the owner. Luckily it had a DVD player for our son's DVD's and a stereo for when we stayed in for dinner. The bedding and towels were changed twice in the week we stayed. All rooms had a balcony with outside shutters controlled from the inside. Our lounge and kitchen balcony overlooked gardens with a water feature, mountain views and a distant sea view (it was very peaceful). The complex had a main adult pool (no children allowed) plus a huge main pool and a baby pool. There was a small playground for children, tennis courts, poolside bar and restaurant (Alloro) which served amazing food (Take away or eat in). The staff there were very friendly. The downside was the location as all attractions were too far away for us with a child that does not travel well. It took us 2 1/2 hours to get from Faro airport to the apartment by shuttle, which I would not recommend. We ended up paying 100 Euro's on our return to the airport to go the motorway which only took an hour.

FANTASTIC SPACIOUS APARTMENTS.

We loved these modern, spacious, clean apartments. They were close to the beach, shops and restaurants in the beautiful village of Praia de Luz. There was plenty of free parking and excellent free Wi-Fi. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT.
