A good stop for families travelling down France
Checkin was good and efficient, room perfectly adequate for a family stopping on the way down france. Bar service was very slow and no chanhe for cash payment. Breakfast good and a good selection of options. Plenty of parking.

This was an annual overnight stay at this hotel en-route to the south. Arrival temperature 35.5c, greeted with news that air con not working and fridges removed during refurb of rooms. No fans available. Staff not at all sympathetic. Evening meal was good, but breakfast bar seemed much reduced in scale since previous stays. Otherwise refurbished rooms a definite improvement.

We parked our motorbike outside our room on the ground floor.

It is perfect for a stopover on a long journey. Very near to the motorway, but no noise from it. Restaurant was open. Not a huge choice but reasonably priced and decent food. Overall, good value and very convenient…..we would use again.

Not quite the four star hotel you might hope for
Good welcome at reception and nice spacious room, but place is looking tired. Service in the restaurant for dinner was poor - staff looked stretched and many were not attentive to customers. G&T served with Sprite?? Second glass of wine never came. Staff avoided eye contact and didn't follow up when they said they would.

This stay was 2 stars. The hotel is in need of updates, and there was no air conditioning in the communal areas despite the 38-degree heat. I was shocked by how expensive hotels in France are, given the poor quality.

Good overnight stop on the way back from south of France, food was good in the restaurant and a reasonable price for a hotel, didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on that. Nice big tv in room to watch premier league football and Miami f1 qualifying. My husband and son were happy with that as well. Beds were comfortable, only criticism was my adult son’s bed only had a thin blanket and no duvet, he said he was cold in the night.

The hotel was Ok for an overnight stay, breakfast was good, but the room was very tired compared to other Novotels, especially the bathroom which was stained and damaged. I'd not stay here again.

Have stayed in this property many times over the years ,it has gone down hill , no improvements made in all the time we have stayed . Beds uncomfortable- blue blankets for childrens beds are really old and horrible ( duvets please) and the beds themselves are uncomfortable. Food has gone down hill ,very limited menu compared to previous times some of which had run out on the day . Hotel needs an upgrade , I will be looking for alternatives for our next trip , sad times .

Evenings meal in our room was v good considering the semi closed conditions.

The room was supposedly non smoking but absolutely stunk of cigarettes and there was a cigarette burn in sofa seat. The room was very hot and the aid conditioning just made a lot of noise but did not lower temperature at all. The sink in the bathroom took a long time to drain, obviously needed to clear the drain.

This property was not clean...I don't think it could ever be clean. It needs a complete refurbishment. Not worth the money and will not stay there again. The food in restaurant at dinner was terrible. We stayed at the Novotel in Beaune previously and that was lovely. This one...awful. Novotel should be ashamed.

Great evening at the hotel in Macon, the 3 serving staff were amazingly efficient with looking after about 50 customers, I salute them.
My only issue was that we booked a room for handicapped and got a bath, not helpful.

Great location, 2 minutes from the motorway. Comfortable rooms & good beds for the kids. Restaurant service lets them down though. Was very slow both this time & the last time we stayed. Had to find a waitress & ask them to take our food order. Then waited over 30 minutes from getting dessert menu to taking order & were then told they no longer had what we’d ordered. Food was good when it arrived although only just warm enough. Staff are friendly & helpful. Fine for an overnight stop.

we have stayed at Novotel Macon for many years on the way back from skiing and have even come to know the manager who is charming. But, as with many hotels of this type everything is done to save money. Cruddy little cardboard cups for tea in the morning. A completely self serve breakfast with soggy bacon and a queue round the coffee machine and toaster. Dinner too has suffered, no longer a proper menu but a laminated place mat with the choices on it. Ludicrously expensive wine (Eu 7.50 per 150 cl) served by a means of a rubber pump device attached to the bottle, 2 squirts! My wife is a veggie and unbelievably there was a vegetarian choice. This arrived- a portion of chips, a dollop of mash potatoes and a plastic cartonette of rice with a few beans. Probably the worst veggie meal ever! Surely a French chef can knock up an omelette? I can.But in it's defence it's cheap. My son slept in our room and the beds are comfortable. Elegant living it aint!

Best Breakfast, Pool, and Play Area for Children
We had 27 members of our family stay here for our family reunion trip around Europe. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating. The family loved the pool after being out all day in the heat of summer. There was lots of green grass for the children to run around and play on the slide & swings. Breakfast was included in our reservation, and was a great buffet with so many choices of hot and cold foods, croissants, Belgian waffles, fresh fruit, juices, etc. You could boil your own eggs to your liking. There is no elevator but it's only 1 flight of stairs up. There is ample parking and a convenience store across the street.

Very tired hotel by Novotel standards.
Used the hotel as a stop over on the way to the alps from the UK. We would normally use an F1 or something cheap and cheerful but thought we would upgrade a little. The decor and bed were tired. The breakfast was a disappointing selection, and not up to the normal standard we have come to expect from Novotel. I was left thinking I would have been better off in the F1.

On our travels in France during August we stayed at this hotel and paid for a superior room, however I am not sure what was superior about it!
We have 2 children (10,11) and extra beds were put in the room which made the room very cramped.
Hotel staff were ok but I did expect better service from a 4* hotel.

Great value stop-over hotel
From the outside this hotel looks grotty and gives the wrong impression. However once we came through the entrance the hotel was modern and the service was very welcoming. The superior room was spacious for a family of 4 (2 x boys aged 9/11), and the beds very comfortable so we slept very well.
The service and food in the restaurant was good so I'd be happy to recommend this to other families travelling through France.

Very clean and presentable hotel with a fantastic swimming pool and play-park for the children. Helpful and friendly staff. Well located for access to Macon and road network to go visiting. It was a shame the buffet breakfast was a little too expensive for my pocket as it looked delicious! We will be sure to look at this hotel first for our future trips to Macon.

As a disabled visitor I was put into a room far from Reception with an overpowering smell of stale cigarette smoke. This hotel has a no smoking policy! Staff could not move me and were very \"matter of fact\" stating if a disabled person wanted to smoke in the room they couldn't stop it! I would definitely not use this hotel again. The staff were extremely unhelpful.

The hotel is conveniently located right next to the motorway. On the other hand it means it's right in the middle of nowhere - there's literally nowhere to go. The room and overall decor were a little bit outdated, but clean. And the breakfast was really great. Overall positive. But not great.

The Hotel was nicely presented, with well equipped rooms and plenty of space for an overnight stay. My wife and myself together with our two children (ages 6 and 8), stopped over on way make from South of France. Everything was clean and tidy, and the fridge in the room was useful fir keeping sandwiches and drinks cool for the journey the next day. The one critisism was the prices in the restaurant seemed quite expensive, and the kids didn't seem catered for on the menu. We elected to eat in Macon, as it was only a few miles into town. All in all we enjoyed our short stay, we were made welcome, and the kids received a small gift on arrival which was a nice touch. We would definately use again.

We use this hotel as a stopover every year, on the way back from our skiing holiday. Therefore we have used this hotel for the last five years +. The hotel receptionists and bar staff are all very friendly - thank you! I do feel though, that this hotel could do with a little bit of modernising! Our bathroom was a little dated and please duvets are a must for bedding! Get rid of the brown blankets please!

We have stayed in several Novotel hotels in this region of France and this is very disappointing. The location is very good, just off the motorway, but the hotel, apart from the reception area, is tired and shabby. It doesn't compare well with the Novotel Beaune and we would rather pay a little extra and stay there.

We booked this as a stopover en route from south of France to Paris. Hotel facilities were great and breakfast was good. Room was clean, comfortable and tidy. Location was good just off the motorway but there is nothing much in the vicinity to explore. For our use it was a perfect way to break up a long drive and get some rest.

We travelled to the south of France and used this hotel as a half way stopover. Value for money was good. We were surprised at the quality which was better than we thought it would be. The reception staff Karl (the young man with spiky hair) was especially helpful and spoke good English. Breakfast worth the extra cost. Also the young lady on reception was very helpful when we left.

Good autoroute stopover
Good hotel less than a minute from the autoroute peage. It's in an industrial estate but the hotel has lovely grounds with small pool and children's play area. Restaurant has a terrace. We didn't eat in the hotel - the menu was rather limited to burgers and other 'international fare' but just ten mins drive away in the centre of Macon we had a fabulous meal at Le Saint Laurent on the banks of the river. Hotel staff were extremely helpful coming up with a suggestion of where to eat and also booking taxis, etc. The hotel also has secure parking, handy if you are travelling to or from the south and don't want to unpack the car. They also happily took our bikes and stored them in the baggage area for extra safety. Rooms were a little bland but perfectly clean and with all the normal bits and bobs.

Staff very helpful, food at dinner and breakfast excellent, plenty to do for the children. Only gripe is that for a superior room, it was very small for 4 of us. Would definitely recommend for a stopover.
