Staff and grounds are beautiful views of the Gulf of Naples are amazing. You're high in the mountains and make sure you get a cab to go exploring the town of Ischia as it is beautiful. The restaurant at the hotel is great and they have a wonderful spa including thermal pools and you can request massage the massage person is fabulous and the prices are great highly recommend this hotel

There are so many things I love about this property! So nice to stay at a family owned hotel with such high standards of service and pride in their venue. The staff are so happy to help with deciding on tours, recommending places to eat, directions to sights, and always greet you with a smile and remembering your name too. The grounds of the hotel are wonderful. The property is so clean and well kept and the view is lush and fabulous with all the different trees and shrubs and flowers. I really enjoyed the view towards the hill in the back too - so calm and serene. The different sitting areas are another wonderful feature. The rooms are great too with everything we needed. Comfortable beds and bedding and pillows. The cleaning staff did a great job every day.
The restaurant was so good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For breakfast, such a variety of food, from the delicious homemade baked goods to cereals, yoghurt, fruits, juices, homemade jams, meats and cheeses and great coffees. It was all wonderful - and included with our stay! I have to congratulate the kitchen staff on their supreme service both in the restaurant and at the bar.
We were so happy to have the shuttle service with pick-up and drop-off at the ferry and the multiple daily scheduled trips to town. Your Wellness centre and Spa was a wonderful service that we used daily.
I cannot say enough good things about your lovely hotel. I highly recommend it and hopefully will return soon.

Great properly. There is a shuttle that takes up to the center of town but the times are limited and the last one is at 10:45 pm so if you want to be out later you must take a taxi which costs 25-30 eu. Michele the driver is great! If you want to stay mainly at the hotel relaxing it is great, beautiful views friendly staff, spa is nice, breakfast also great

Boutique hotel but far from places you want to go

The hotel is in a serene part of the island of Ischia. The problem is that it is far from all attractions and it is not possible to take public transport and walk to the hotel. Where the bus drops you off is about a kilometer from the hotel, which is not bad, but there is no walkable road to it. So you have to depend on the hotel shuttle, which is somewhat limited in its times and where it will go.

The hotel has a spa underground, which is a nice feature. Luciano in the front desk was a helpful, friendly chap; others were a little taciturn.

This is a very good hotel and I highly recommend. An oasis of calm after a week in busy Sorrento . Only stayed 2 nights and would have liked to stay for longer. Excellent service from the helpful staff. Very clean place.
Had lunch one day, very good quality as was breakfast. Room had a balcony with view to sea and the hills behind.
The hotel is about 2 miles from Ischia Port and the downside it is up a steep hill from the main road. The hotel provide a regular shuttle bus service to/ from Ischia port from where there is a very good bus service to all parts of island. Hotel provided us with a drop off and pick up service to a local thermal park which was well worth a visit. Not busy the day we visited.
Loved the island of Ischia and will return . This is a great choice of hotel if you want to be close to Ischia Port and want to enjoy peace and calm.

Beautiful Hotel very relaxing and quiet. Spa has a lot of amenities for the guest to use. Restaurant has amazing food at a great price. Staff was very friendly welcoming since we walk in. Front desk lady was very nice and she explained everything and got us a welcoming drink.
The Shuttle driver was very nice and very accommodating. The restaurant staff was excellent, pool bar tender gentleman was very nice and attentive. The restaurant manager was excellent he was very friendly, he make sure we were taking care of, and he greeted everyone by their last names. Very professional

We spent five fantastic nights at the Grifo. So relaxing and welcoming. From the moment you arrive you realise you’ve made the right choice as it feels exclusive yet friendly tucked away from the main road. Our room was spacious, clean and it was worth a little extra for a balcony with a sea view. We spent a few nights sat outside relaxing and it’s great for drying swimwear. The spa was amazing and especially the hot pool after a long day sightseeing or on the beach. I paid for a massage and it worked wonders. Food was great with a fair choice at breakfast and they even treated my partner to some cake and Prosecco on her birthday that made it extra special (thanks to the brilliant Enzo who also made us a perfect coffee every morning). Reception team arranged us a scooter, ferry tickets and gave lots of tips for places with a smile. The shuttle bus worked around us and made it easy to get back and forth. Thoroughly recommend this hotel and very likely we’ll be back at some point. The owners were a lovely couple and you can see how they ensure guests are treated well and genuinely care.

We were impressed by the staff on our stay at this boutique hotel. They seemed to go over the top again and again. We did struggle with a few language challenges at times. But since we were in Italy--off the typical American tourist trail--we should know a bit more Italian. The cleaning staff was amazing as every blue tile sparked and we watched them scrub the pool area daily with mops. The chef was so personable that we felt like we were leaving an old friend when we checked out. The shuttle drivers were wonderful and one every sang at dinner on Saturday night.

Fantastic in every way. We spent 5 days in this beautiful family run boutique hotel. Set in a lovely quiet area which was exactly what we were looking for. The hotel provides ample daily free shuttles to the town centre. The shuttle driver- Antonio was a delight he was professional,friendly and on time every time. The whole hotel was immaculately clean, we were actually proud to stay in such a well looked after hotel.The chef Pasquale is a credit to them. The meals were varied, fresh and beautifully presented most importantly they were delicious. Now going to the hotels best asset..Enzo. their Maitre‘d.what an amazing guy. He made us feel welcome, loved and very well looked after. More importantly we could tell he was authentic. He literally was the highlight of our holiday. Federico the barman was also so nice, so professional and so welcoming.Francesco was singing one evening and he literally is so talented it was so good and he had the voice of an angel. The front desk team were very welcoming, speedily checked us in and we’re again so professional. Our room had a stunning view of Napoli bay/sea, was spotlessly clean , comfy bed and had modern furnishings.much loved hotel. Hotels gardens were very well looked after offering plants/flowers and privacy. Lastly we had a wonderful massage and used the wonderful spa facility. Which was beautiful with Turkish bath/sauna/huge whirlpool/therma pool and much more. I would highly recommend this hotel I will return in a heartbeat

The people the property were magnificent. The spa brings you into a world that I’ve never been in before. It felt sort of like Disneyland. The restaurant is quite good in fact better than some in the town. We only issue is that the hotel is not really near anything and you need to rely on taxis and their shuttle. If you didn’t care about anything else this would be the perfect place to spend a week.

What a truly special place. We spent six nights at the Grifo earlier in the summer, and wouldn't hesitate to come back again and again. We've also recommended it to our friends and family! The hotel is the perfect size - not too big - and a fantastic team of staff remember you by name. Ischia is blessed with beautiful weather for the most part, but even when we experienced one stormy day during our stay, we felt we could relax in the hotel all day without needing to leave, alternating between the swimming pool and the luxurious on-site spa. Thank you for a wonderful holiday, and we can't wait to come back.

A very relaxing vacation. The Grifo Hotel has a great homely feel to it. Peaceful, relaxed and most enjoyable. The staff are genuinely lovely and very helpful.
The hotel is spotlessly clean everywhere with a fabulous restaurant and great food both for breakfast and evening meals.
Very comfortable with great outdoor swimming pool and indoor spa facilities.
There is also a roof terrace but at the summer temperatures maybe too hot for some.

The location is close to the Ischia port but far enough away so that you are not able to hear any traffic noise. The hotel is situated up a huge hill which is tough to walk up or down, but they have a solution for that in the form of a free shuttle service.

There is a very good public bus service around the island which means there is no need to rent a car but there are plenty of opportunities to rent scooters or cars if you need. Reception can help with that too.

In summary, we had the best holiday at the Grifo Hotel and would not hesitate to recommend it to everyone who appreciates the hard work and effort the team put into to making you welcome and comfortable.

Clean hotel and friendly staff. The Spa and the pool is excellent. The pool bar is a bit bla as our wine was room temperature. We were apparently \"upgraded\" from a deluxe room to a classic room. The rooms are a bit odd with tiles on the floor so it feels a bit outdated. It was also very noisy as you can hear everyone walking past your room. The local area is beautiful though as the hotel has free shuttle to the port and back which was very useful.

There is a courtesy bus from the port to the hotel, this runs also throughout the day, you can also request to get a lift to the bus stop as it would be too far to walk. All the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was very clean, the who resort was extremely well maintained. Well worth a stay.

Beautiful hotel & wonderful, helpful & attentive staff. The restaurant was really good, very affordable and meal sizes were very big. I really like that they have the free shuttle bus for when you arrive and depart and throughout the day, it's a really great service and all the drivers are so professional. My only criticism is that the beds are not comfortable. Unfortunately the mattresses and pillows were very hard & sadly I had a really bad sleep during my stay. Updating the bedding (sheets, duvets and pillows) could resolve this. Other then that we had a wonderful time.

Relaxing, close enough to port with the shuttle

I chose this hotel based on other reviews and we were not disappointed. The hotel is charming, a boutique feel to it, spotlessy clean , wonderful views and the staff are all so,helpful and friendly. It is a little way outside of the port but the hotel shuttle takes you into the port and picks you up, so you can have that extra glass of wine with no driving!
Lovely swimming pool and spa if you have time!
Special thanks to Antiono, we will return.

We spent 6 nights at The Grifo Hotel in July. It was a fantastic stay. The rooms and grounds are excellent and in immaculate condition. There is a great spa. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Paola on reception and Mantel (driver/waiter/maintainance). The holiday was very relaxing and peaceful. There is a great shuttle service into Ischia Port.

We spent 6 glorious nights in this lovely Haven. After 10 hectic days in Rome this was a well needed relaxing time. We were upgraded to a junior suite that was extremely nice. The rooms and throughout the resort it is spotlessly clean. The front staff was always very helpful as well as the restaurant staff. There is a spa and thermal pool which we unfortunately didn't have a chance to use. The hotel is out of town but the free shuttle has you in town in 5 mins. We will definitely be back.

I stayed at the Grifo hotel with my husband and 2 friends. The hotel staff were very friendly and attentive. The hotel is small, personal and lovely. Breakfast was included. we had one evening meal at the hotel which was excellent. However, out choice was to explore the town and restaurants in the evening. It was great that the hotel provided a free courtesy shuttle into the town (10 mins) as I did think the hotel was a little outside the town -good as location was quiet, but without the shuttle we wold have incurred taxi charges. My only criticism is the charge for pool towels. We were not expecting this at a 4* resort. The staff were so lovely, attentive and friendly.

5 Star! Relax & Enjoy Your Stay!!!!

The Hotel is secluded yet close to all which makes for a truly relaxing vacation. Rooms are large and well appointed and we even had a patio. Heated pool inside and out. Spa on premises and Thermal Spa and beach close by. Hotel provides shuttle service to Castiglione Thermal Spa and Ischia Center. If you want to rent a car or book a tour the hotel handles it for you! Let's not forget the restaurant for a gastronomic experience! The ENTIRE staff is OUTSTANDING! Thank you for a wonderful vacation and look forward to staying with you again!!!

We have just enjoyed a wonderful stay on Ischia at the Grifo Hotel Charme and Spa. We were celebrating a birthday. The service and attention to detail was exceptional. All the staff really go the extra mile in making you feel welcome and they are so attentive to your needs and requests without being intrusive. Victoria on the front desk is amazing, booking restaurants and taxis for us and even arranged for a bottle of bubbly and a card for the birthday girl, she also alerted another restaurant that it was my sisters birthday and they brought out a cake and candle as a surprise! Antonio in the restaurant was very friendly and made fantastic wine recommendations. If you are considering staying here then do factor in eating at the restaurant for at least 1 night, it is very competitively priced (35 euros for a 4 course meal - buffet style antipasti, primi, secondi and dessert) and has a lovely small menu which changes daily. In the morning the buffet breakfast was fresh and delicious and it was wonderful to enjoy this by the pool. The photos on the website do not do justice to how lovely a setting the hotel is in. The facilities were first class and the spa was exactly what we wanted it to be, the staff in the spa were very knowledgeable and really helpful and recommended treatments which we all thoroughly enjoyed. We have come home relaxed and spoilt and cannot wait to go back. Well done and thank you Hotel Grifo, keep doing what you are doing, as you do it so well!

Very clean, modern, cozy. We were there 5 nights, the room came with a big terrace. The staf was always ready to help. They brought us sparkling wine when we arrived .The bed was comfortable, the breakfast is continental, We were ok with the shuttle, if you want the hotel right on the beach you will pay double, and the beach is not like a carribien.The pool and the garden on the propriety make you feel relax and romantic. They offer halfbord, if you will be tired to go to the center of the city ,you can get pretty good meal, just make your choice the same day in the morning or even afternoon to reserve place for diner. The tv has only Italian channels, but we did not have time to watch it anyway.

Wonderful retreat in the pine forest

We've just returned from a fantastic two week stay at this hotel. Both the rooms and grounds are maintained to an excellent standard and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful making it a completely relaxing stay for us. We stayed bed and breakfast and whilst the buffet was simple it was delicious with enough variety for our stay. The hotel provides a free shuttle to the main town of Ischia Porto with regular scheduled departure & pick up times, but the staff would often take you at other non scheduled times if required. A lovely big pool with plenty of different places to sunbathe on the grounds and admire the stunning views of the island. The staff were really friendly and went out of their way to help us when we had a problem in Naples - all in all a wonderful hotel.

I recently returned from a week at grifo hotel with my boyfriend and had one of the best holidays of my life. When we arrived at the port I had been given their number to call and the receptionist sent the hotel van to pick us up. The hotel is in a beautiful position with mountain views from the pool and restaurant and idea views from some of the rooms (we had paid extra for the sea view and had a small balcony with table and chairs).
Every member of staff from reception to restaurant, drivers and housekeeping to spa staff - all were incredibly kind, welcoming and helpful, I cannot praise them enough and they really made the whole trip that much nicer.
The room was comfortable, clean and good air conditioning and a powerful shower.
The spa was also lovely with suana, pool and thermal pool. Although it shuts between 12.30 and 4.30.

A stay in paradise!

A stay at Grifo Hotel is the guaranty of calm location, spotless venue, charm of the entire staff and memories we still cherish to this day! Our daughter even asks regularly if we are coming back to Grifo ever since we came back! All three of us were marked by our stay in Ischia in this charming hotel that quickly felt like home. What more could we ask for when we go away on vacation! When after only 7 nights you leave a hotel by hugging the owners and the staff, it says a lot about how unique of a stay it was. Grifo is all of this....and more!

Quality Hotel in Ischia.

This is a first class hotel. The word 'Charme' in the name of the hotel is well judged in many aspects.
The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful at all times. The mini bus is a welcome feature and the owner can be your driver!!
The hotel has been astutely designed and is kept in an immaculate condition. The pool is welcome and a nice size.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at he Grifo.

An oasis of tranquillity

Set amidst a pine forest part way up a hill and well away from the hustle and bustle you find elsewhere on Ischia the Grifo is truly a relaxing place to stay. The spa facilities and treatments will add to your relaxation. The hotel run a regular service to transport guests to Ischia and Casamicciola where you can pick up a bus, boat or taxi to tour the island. The staff were always most helpful and particularly obliging delivering our bags to the ferry when we elected to stretch our stay in Ischia and delaying our onward travel to Sorrento until the end of the day.

Lovely hotel with fantastic spa which was free. Bit of a distance from port and town and beach about 3 miles but hotel ran a shuttle minibus.
Lovely views of mountains from sun terrace. Small quite pool very relaxing. Food and drinks good but a bit pricey.
Staff all very friendly and helpful with recommendations of what to do and see.

Great hotel. Food good. On the odd occasion we made use of the staff at reception we found them to be lacking in interest. It was almost like it was too much trouble to answer a query! In hind site it didn't help that we hadn't much of a grasp of Italian but we felt, well, pushed aside on the odd occasion. I started to question my own query's! In other words was I really so silly to be asking a question in the first place! You were made to feel uncomfortable. Also we had extreme problems with the local phone number. Regardless of what local code we used it was a lottery as to whether you were connected or not. Result was we used the local taxi to get back from the local port more often than using the hotel shuttle bus. The holiday overall was fantastic. The Island is easy to navigate both by local bus and by hire car. You will only require a car for two, three days max. The Island is that small you can drive round, on main roads, in an hour or hour and a half.

Idyllic retreat

Grifo is a lovely family run hotel between Casimicciola and Ischia Porte. It's up a hill and a bit out of the way but has wonderful views. Pool, spa (sauna, steam room, spa pools), free wifi, above average restaurant and excellent staff. It's pretty much self contained if you just want to chill out but everything is pretty accessible on the island. If you don't want to learn the bus routes hiring a scooter or car is a great way to see the island.

Not really a four star hotel

I am recently home from a week with a friend at Grifo Hotel, and would not recommend it.

On arrival, we found that, despite asking for twin beds, the two singles had been made up as one double bed. When we mentioned this at the front desk, there was no offer to re-make the beds. Also the chest of the drawers in the room smelled so strongly of damp that there was no way that it could be used. The room looked onto a small patio then a 20ft wall, so it was very gloomy in the room.

The room had no tea / coffee making facilities, and there is no room service, there is a note in the mini-bar to say that guests can be charged for using the fridge for anything of their own. There is also no iron in the room.

We ate in the restaurant one night, and the meal was extremely poor. Set menu (no a la carte, despite there being a la carte lunchtime menu) and whilst the starter (buffet), and first course (pasta) were ok, the main course was quite revolting, and the puddings were grim. The information in the room said that the meal was €25, but we were charged €30.

We asked the hotel to arrange hire of a car one day and the car we were given was ancient and a death-trap. After a couple of hours my friend (who has driven more in hire cars in europe than in the UK) said she was no longer willing to drive it and we returned it to the hotel.

We booked treatments in the spa. Facial was ok, but during my manicure the staff started setting up the room around me for the next guest.

Overall it was a good stay in Ischia at Grifo hotel. Even though the weather was not great, having a spa at the hotel was a very good benefit. It was a strange rule of the hotel however that you cannot bring any beverages or food purchased elssewhere than at the hotel.

Excellent hotel away from the busy-ness of town

this is an excellent hotel.Though a bit away from the main town of Ischia (but very close to Casamicciola), the hotel's shuttle is always available to give you a lift to the town at short notice (as well as picking you up at the port when you arrive by ferry/hydrofoil). Walking to Ischia town is approx 25 mins.Lovely setting in a pine forest with sea views makes it very relaxing. The hotel staff is very helpful and the standards are very high overall. Including the restaurant and bar food. Swimming pool area is very neat and very comfortable. Swimming pool itself is excellent with water at the edge's level. Thermal water bath also available in the hotel (free) and spa services (at a charge). Would definitely go back there in the future.

We stayed in one of the annexe rooms and wouldn't recommend them. They're in a separate building and have only French doors, no windows in the room - they let in very little light. Also, walls are paper-thin and when our neighbours came back to their room after 23.00 we could hear them talking and washing - definitely not something I would expect in a 4* hotel.
The breakfast is good, with freshly baked cornetti.
The hotel is quite out of the way and getting anywhere requires a bit of planning with getting to the bus stop, catching a bus etc.

The hotel offers a shuttle service and they're very flexible, you don't necessarily have to wait until the 'official' scheduled times. Still, I'd rather stay somewhere more central.
They can also pick you up and drop off at the ferry terminals. The driver (it's actually one of his many roles at the hotel) is very friendly.
Overall it's not a bad hotel but the location and the annexe rooms let it down.

A little bit of paradise

Loved this Hotel. Its a little bit of paradise with its tranquil blue and white decor, attentive staff and quiet position. The setting, up a steep hill, appears inconvenient at first but staff will zip you into the Port or the bus stop in the multipla and collect you when you call them. The setting has its advantages - superb view across the sea to Vesuvius (you get this view from your room if you upgrade to a superior room which we thought was well worth it) and bordering the mountain forest in the other direction. We woke to birdsong and sunshine in the mornings; very relaxing. The pool is small (but the hotel is only 500m from the thermal water park) and there are several areas of loungers and chairs by the pool, the terrace and roof terrace. I wouldn't say that its suitable here for children who cannot quietly entertain themselves.
Staff were very helpful with advice, maps and information about trips to take and the hotel food was excellent ; buffet breakfast and, if you choose half board, a 4 course Italian evening meal with a choice of 3 main courses. Whilst we were there (May '11) the hotel was popular with Italians on holiday; we were the only Brits there but were made to feel welcome. The hotel had a computer with free internet access and a book rack for exchanging paperbacks. I want to go back, it was a truly relaxing break.

Chic Boutique hotel in beautiful surroundings

The Hotel was so charming with staff to match. They are so welcoming and helpful and keen to ensure you enjoy your stay. The hotel is all white which contrasts amazing with the blue pool and sky - really chic.
We had a garden room which was adequate for our stay - my friend had a room in the main hotel overlooking the sea, really beautiful. Breakfast was efficient and relaxed. Lunch was served around the pool and was delicious - the best pasta on the island. Dinner was a set menu. We tended to go out most evenings to sample the islands cuisine.
Whilst most people want to explore the island the hotel is also so good just to chill out at. We spent a few days around the pool and in the garden surrounded by the beautiful flowers, vegitation and amazing view of the volcano.
There is a shuttle bus to take you down the hill to the bus stop, but we tended to walk down, it was so lovely through the wooded trees - although a little steep in some places. We walked to Cassimiciola and to Lacco Amenio day and evening, and then visited the other amazing places on the island via the bus which is only 1.40 euros - bargain!!
Overall we had a lovely stay at this hotel and would recommend it to friends. It even has its own indoor thermal pool and sauna. The staff were so nice and all said goodbye before the driver took us down to the port for our ferry home.

Lovely sopt- if a little out-of-the -way

Beautiful place. Excusive feel.Lovely terrace, pool etc. pretty new. Quiet. Lunch options limited. We loved it but found the location a bit tiresome after 6 days. 5 mins (busy) bus from Ischia Port, the 7 mins walk up a (steepish) dusty hill. They run a shuttle but not after 10 pm which is a little early. The road is well-lti though. Better with a car- wouldn't recommend if mobility a prob.

Perfect romantic holiday hotel

My boyfriend and I spent at week at the Grifo Hotel de Charme this July and it was truly the best holiday we have ever had. We have already recommended it to several people, including my boss! The room was very comfortable, breakfast was good and if we felt like staying in for the evening, the hotel restaurant provided a lovely set menu that changed each day. The hotel staff were very welcoming and always friendly. They had helpful suggestions for getting about the island and were happy to organise day trips to other islands and coastal towns such as Positano, Amalfi, Capri. They went out of their way to help us and we felt like old friends when we left at the end of the week. Highly recommended!

Class and Luxury in the Most Beautiful Surroundings

I Booked this Holiday as a suprise for my wifes 40th.I didnt know what to expect when i arrived in Ischia as it was my first time,I dont like big Hotels so The Hotel Grifo seemed ideal. Well Ideal isnt the word,Perfect i would use.The Hotel is amazing the location looking out over Ischia Bay amazing,the staff very friendly and accomadating,the restuarant and food amazing,the room had its own hydro sauna shower outside on the patio,Theres also a Big Sauna room and spa in the hotel grounds also a wonderful pool with jacuzzi. Our stay was for six days and we were treated very well indeed we had an amazing time and are looking to return sooner rather than later,I dont mean to be rude but it was a breath of fresh air to not have lager louts of any nationality around us but relaxed and like minded people,and dont be put off by the chicness,the hotel Grifo was very reasonable indeed and dont be ignorant a little Italian goes a long way. So if you like to immerse yourself in culture relax and sample the local food which is fish caught daily and fresh then this is definately the place for you. You Will Not Be Dissapointed Mr A is The Man If you like your clothes and the latest fashion then hit Ischia town in the evening you'll be amazed. Once again absolutely wonderful time Grazie Tanto

Our stay at Grifo Hotel was amazing, I can really recommend staying here whether it's only for a few nights or longer!

The breakfast and lunch were super tasty, but what made our stay extra memorable was the lovely staff. Everyone was super nice and ready to help, Enzo really brightened up the breakfast service every morning.

The views from the hotel was beautiful and the location very quiet and calm. The shuttle bus to town was easy to arrange and had flexible times. I have no complaints whatsoever and I'm looking forward to coming back one day!
