We stayed here for a wedding in the Odense city hall and there was a number of us in our group. The hotel had some beautiful, comfortable reception rooms where we could all meet up as we went in and out and about our other activities. It is a short walk to the city hall & so a perfect location for the wedding. There are lots of restaurants close by & it is a very walkable place. Walking distance from the train station too, even with luggage. Breakfast was great. Our room was small but we only booked a standard queen.

The water pressure was great!!! Parts of the area seemed a little sketchy. The parking garage right behind the hotel had all kinds of graffiti and i had to park on the top level to receive the parking discount, still! The bed was not centered, my side by the window only had a gap of maybe 6 inches, and the base of the bed could not be moved. Trying to drag your luggage up the front steps was not what you would expect from a high class hotel!!! The breakfast was excellent!! By far the best on the trip.

Impressive building, feels very grand when you walk in. Our room was large with comfortable bed but bathroom a bit dated. We asked for our room to be cleaned daily but the only things done were replacing the coffee & cups and filling the fridge - surprised that they didn't make bed or empty bin. Bathroom had previous guest's contact lens on floor & some mould. Curtains didn't reach to bottom of window. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly and excellent breakfast and location

What a beautiful Grand Hotel. The Ground Floor is absolutely stunning. It was like going back in time. I really loved the breakfast selection and decoration. Truly beautiful! Furthermore, the staff was very welcoming and helpful with advices for my exploring.

Some things to improve:

The room was a bit dusty. It felt that it wasn't recently cleaned. Especially the slit between the matraze and headboard. I was a bit shocked to find so much dust between it. Also the floors should be better cleaned.

Overall, magical hotel that just needs slight improvements to be an impeccable place.

This was such a wonderful hotel. It's right in the middle of the touristic part of Odense, with plenty of places to eat nearby and very close to the train station. The staff is super nice and the breakfast was outstanding. I would stay there again for sure.

I thought this hotel was great. It was a good location, a lovely building and lobby and breakfast was out of this world! We stayed in a third floor exterior room which meant it was quite compact with smaller windows. I loved it because it was well designed and very sweet little room but if you need more space request a room on the 2nd or 1st floor or an interior courtyard room on the 3rd.

We chose this hotel (original part built 1897, but we stayed in the 1950s annex wing) because it contrasted with a modern hotel we had stayed at in Copenhagen for a small group tour. This hotel is just a couple of minutes from the train station, and near many restaurants, shopping and touring options. We arrived on a very hot day (about 82F) and I opened the window a bit for some cool breeze at night... it was a little noisy but did not interfere with sleep. Excellent breakfast buffet.

A special thanks to the staff at the front desk and in the restaurant.. my grandchild needed minor first aid attention during our visit and staff with very helpful with that. Lots of smiles from the staff during breakfast was a nice way to start each day!

Great location. You can walk to train station and all restaurants in city center. We took the tram to the university but you could walk it if so inclined. The breakfast had fresh variety. I didn’t want to leave. Great spot.

Property was nice but the room we had did not have a shower but a tub with a shower head. There was no shower curtain. There is no parking at the hotel. The bar, restaurant were nice, the breakfast was very good. Front desk staff were helpful when pushed.

Highly Recommend if going through Odense

This was a couple's stay during a trip through Denmark. There was an inexpensive parking garage which was a very short walk from the hotel, the room was clean and felt nice. The staff was very kind and helpful, and the breakfast was phenomenal. This is the part of Denmark on Fyn Island where the HC Andersen House is, but it's also just a lovely area to walk around as well. Nice restaurants and pubs are nearby too (I hear this hotel's restaurant is nice, but we did not do dinner here, just the included breakfast).

First floor room is best!

Bought a standard room and was placed on 3rd floor. Room was small and far from lobby. We paid a little extra (10%) and were moved to a room on first floor. The first floor room was bigger, more comfortable and near the lobby, bar, and restaurant. We greatly enjoyed it!

Rooms were large but if I had a criticism it would be for lack of space to put clothes! It was a superb stay and the staff were excellent!

Wished we could have stayed longer. This hotel makes you feel as though you walked back to a more stylish time when service was important.
The buffet breakfast was excellent and served in a grand dining room. Our room was large and beautiful with large windows a s modern conveniences. Staff had already prepared a cot for our son and piled candy and a welcome message on his pillow.

We had a toilet unit right outside our only window. which made our room smell. The couch was very old and misshaped. The bathroom had very little water pressure in the sink and when you turned on the shower the drain would stink up the whole room. We were in the newer part 412 and while it was comfy I wouldn’t stay there in the hot month.

Nice hotel within walking distance of train station. The hotel building is a bit old, so sound-proofing is not the best but it was not too loud. Electric sockets were in random places but made it work.
Lastly, breakfast at hotel was included and very good. The amount of food for breakfast exceeded my expectation based on the size and location of this hotel. Staff were friendly and good.

We were looking to experience the “old charm” of Odense & while the Hotel is lovely in many respects (staff is amazing, the bar & lounge is welcoming and nicely appointed. Drinks are exceptionally crafted and the complimentary breakfast offers a beautiful array of pastries, hot food choices, yogurt & granola, fresh fruit & more), unfortunately our room was very tired. The bathroom had a sewer odor, the toilet was stained & took several flushes to evacuate and our sink kept clogging so it filled every time you ran the water & took several minutes to drain. We didn’t spend very much time in our room so we didn’t complain and we shared this info w/the front desk at check out. Maybe not all bathrooms are in this same state at the Hotel, in which case, The First Grand is a lovely place to stay!!!

The staff is very nice, and friendly.
Room is spacious. Bed was comfortable. One thing tub is very deep, people with mobility issues may have a problem getting in and out of tub.

This hotel was OK but overall I did not enjoy it very much. I thought the check in time was excessively late at 4 PM. This is particularly irksome as the check out was fairly early at 11 AM. The room itself was very distant and required a lot of walking to reach. That walking required going up and down steps in at least two areas with no other options to get to the room. This would have been a significant problem for people with limited capabilities, such as seniors. The room itself had no form of climate control. there was just a desk fan, which actually did an adequate job. I was able to work around these issues mentioned, but I do believe the hotel should have notified me about these issues in advance. The breakfast was fairly good and kept the standards of the industry. The area around the hotel was as nice as it will get for that town. The city of Odense just does not have a lot to offer. You can see everything there is to see in may be a half a day.
