Be careful on leaving bags on the balcony... a raven was able to open up a zippered bag and empty it's contents! Our fault of course, but beware!!

The location of the hotel is lovely, there is a free shuttle service from the carpark which is helpful.

The rooms are dated and in need of updating - some aspects of the room appear to not have been updated for a long time and show lots of visible signs of wear.

some of the staff were lovely - one of our shuttle drivers was excellent and gave us more information about the hotel than the front desk staff.

we spent two evenings in the bar and unfortunately the atmosphere was not great. Several staff members were off shift and became very drunk. It made it feel like we were interrupting a private evening. It made us cut our evening short which was a shame as the food and drinks were really nice.

Upon checking out we were struggling up some snowy and icy steps with our luggage and a staff member also walked past and didn’t bother helping.

We’ve had better stays in cheaper hotels that offer MUCH better value for money.

Our two-night stay at Emerald Lake Lodge was a memorable highlight of our road trip. Traveling with our Pomeranian-Chihuahua, we loved how welcoming the property felt—perfect for strolling around the peaceful grounds and even walking out onto the frozen lake, which made for a truly magical experience.

The shuttle service was convenient and seamless, with friendly, reliable drivers who made getting around easy. Evenings were especially cozy thanks to the delicious cocktails crafted by the bartender, which we enjoyed right in front of the fireplace in our room—such a relaxing touch after a day outdoors.

The only downside was the bathroom shower: while the water pressure was strong, it was quite loud and the hot water fluctuated a bit. That said, it didn’t take away much from an otherwise lovely stay. Overall, we left feeling refreshed and grateful for the experience.

Our stay was wonderful, however much less to do in the winter than summer months. Rooms were clean and tidy, and guest services were available with anything we needed. The only area of concern was there were no mini-fridges in the room, so having littles ones with us for snacks was tough - but we managed and would not fault the lodge for this. Just something to be aware of when bringing babies and little ones. Overall, nice weekend to disconnect and the Easter activities were a lovely idea to keep kids busy!

Rooms are dated and thin walls makes them noisy. Food is expensive and there are no inexpensive options for breakfast or lunch. Loud music is played in the lobby. Very busy with lots of tourists. Hotel cars and vehicles compete with guest footpath routes.

A few places need a bit of TLC like the room bathroom but you just need to embrace that you’re not in a big city 5 star resort it’s just a bit different and that’s ok. Do not drive up the emerald lake road without snow tires between November thru April.

We just got back from our anniversary trip. It was magical place but for the price there were major concerns.

1. A van full of employees gossiping on our drive to hotel was not the best first impression.
2. We got there early to enjoy lounge. Went to check in early. The lady was not too friendly. Said “you know check in is at 4 right?” Yes we are aware. Room was not ready. No big deal. We went to lounge.
3. We were only two in lounge. Had to ask about our check…took forever.
4. Got to our room…loved view. My husband is in construction and there were issues. Seemed like there was a hole in floor. Carpet had big frays in it and was coming off the floor. Bed was super uncomfortable…linens were nice.
5. We heard EVERYTHING from our neighbour's, made us uncomfortable to chat. We paid for more expensive room…so was shocked at quality.
6. Card and chocolates left for our anniversary is a nice touch.
7. Dinner…we ate in dining room. Our server a d hostess were amazing. We had scallops appetizer. The scallops were 27.00 for two scallops which were underdone. Seems almost raw in middle. I had tenderloin. Flavours were good…but tiny tiny portion for 60 dollars. My husband had elk…again the smallest portion for 64 dollars.
8. Again we were not told anything about resort, so we realized at 9 pm about pool table and games.
9. Hot tub was not working bubbles would not turn on.
10. Check out staff was unengaged.
For price…not as magical as I hope

This was our first visit to ELL for a couple evenings.

The room was ok… but I think there is a significant difference from revitalized rooms versus the “lodge” tier. The bathroom was cramped, low light and a bit damp.

Cocktails at the bar were a little on the weak end. The burger was quite good, the pasta was terrible.

Morning options of baked goods weren’t memorable, but the in room tea and nespresso coffee were appreciated.

There are limited xc trails in the area if you are skiing and the lake trail as well as alluvial fan become destroyed from walkers on the tracks. Stick to the connector trail for pure skiing rather than skier setting.

The hot tub was great as well as the sauna (be sure to turn it on as soon as you enter, it’s slow to warm up).

Showers in the clubhouse building were hit or miss on hot water.

Up and downstairs of the main lodge are great places to hang out. Check out the games cabinet upstairs (please add a couple packs of playing cards ELL staff) as well as some toys for little ones.

I would return again and bring better local choices for beverages to enjoy while there, as well as some charcuterie, fruit and cheeses to enjoy in room. We ordered one to have in our room on arrival but it was underwhelming for the price paid.

Other than food offerings, I think ELL is a great place to unwind and make a memory or two.

We stayed at Emerald Lake Lodge at the beginning of March, and it was truly a magical experience. Before the trip we were a little worried about the weather, but when we arrived it was absolutely gorgeous. There was so much snow around the lake and the cabins that everything looked like something out of a fairy tale. The snowy landscape made the whole place feel peaceful and unforgettable.

Our room was very cozy, warm, and comfortable. The lodge provides soft robes and plenty of towels, which made relaxing even nicer. There was also a small table with different kinds of tea and a little coffee machine, which was perfect for quiet mornings while looking out at the snowy scenery.

One thing we really appreciated was that there is no Wi-Fi in the rooms. It allowed us to truly disconnect from phones and the internet and just relax and enjoy the nature around us. It made the stay feel even more special.

The outdoor hot tub was amazing, especially with all the snow around. Sitting in the warm water while surrounded by mountains and winter scenery was one of the highlights of the trip.

We also loved spending time in the Main Lodge. The story behind the building is very interesting, and we were surprised to learn that it was built more than 100 years ago. It adds so much character and history to the place.

We had dinner at the restaurant in the Main Lodge as well. The lamb was delicious and cooked very well. The chicken was juicy and soft, which made it a great option for kids.

This is such a lovely location, the scenery is breathtaking. But for the price and history here I expected a little more. The staff was attentive, young and eager but lacking in the demeanour a luxury resort generally has. The food was sub par as well, pastries at breakfast were day old/dry, and the three meal we had were either cold, under done or just nothing exciting… the rooms are sweet, compact an clean but dated. Bathrooms need a refresh. The shower fixtures were covered in caulking to hold them in place lol (rustic charm?)
Again, it’s pretty. The staff are attentive. But I left feeling overall a little let down when this was a bucket list destination…

Our stay at Emerald Lake Lodge was so magical last year that we knew we had to come back this time with our children so they could experience it for themselves. And somehow, it was even more special the second time.
There is something truly extraordinary about this place. From the moment you arrive, surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery and the most serene lake views, you feel completely transported. It’s peaceful, cozy, and awe-inspiring all at once like stepping into a postcard.
What makes Emerald Lake Lodge stand apart, though, is the people. The staff simply cannot do enough for you. Every interaction feels genuine, warm, and thoughtful. They anticipate your needs before you even realize you have them. Traveling with children can sometimes be stressful, but the team made everything effortless and welcoming for our whole family.
Watching our kids take in the same views that captivated us last year was unforgettable. Emerald Lake Lodge isn’t just a destination, it’s an experience, a memory-maker, and a place that draws you back the moment you leave.
We are already dreaming about our next visit.

The staff were excellent and very helpful. The location is beautiful. We tried the breakfast bar, the lounge restaurant for dinner and the main dining room for breakfast. All of the meals were underwhelming especially for the prices charged. I expected a premium due to the location but the bread products were dry, the back bacon and strip bacon along with the bison sausage were overcooked and dry. The scrambled eggs were half scrambled and half cooked but the hash brown potatoes were excellent. The tortellini was flavourless and not heated throughout the dish. The muffin/ scone was dry and overbaked. The room was well set up but one infuriating thing was every single wall plug was so worn out that anything corded that was plugged in would just fall out onto the floor. The shuttle service was great. My suggestion for lunch or dinner would be to make the trip into Field and go to the Truffle Pig which had excellent food and prices.

An absolutely wonderful place for a romantic weekend! Beautiful accommodation, very pleasant surroundings, spotless cleanliness, quiet atmosphere, and perfectly dark rooms for sleeping — we loved that.

The restaurants were excellent, and the hotel staff were amazing: friendly, helpful, and professional throughout our stay.

There is only one thing that personally caught me off guard. While using the hot tub with my partner, I developed a strong skin reaction from the waist down. My upper body was barely in the water, and even my arms were only lightly affected, but I experienced intense itching, pain, and redness that lasted the entire following day. My partner had no reaction at all, but I have more sensitive skin, and it seemed like the chlorine level may have been higher than usual. I honestly can’t explain it otherwise.

We use hot tubs regularly at hotels and have never had this experience before, so it was quite surprising.

Despite this, we truly enjoyed our stay and would still recommend this place for a romantic getaway.

3 stars given as the room we stayed in (14-2) had a very hard bed. We left with sore shoulders, hips and feeling tired. The bathtub was all scratched and worn making it appear very dirty and brown. I was looking forward to having a nice relaxing bath but, did not due to the cleanliness. I mentioned this to the manager and she just brushed me off with nothing to say. However, the service, food at the restaurant and location was terrific! I am not sure we would stay again for the cost but, we would definitely visit for the day. It is a stunning place.

I booked and it was an hour+ away from the city I searched. I messaged the hotel immediately and they go no problem just ask Expedia support for a refund. I book another hotel and the hotel denies my refund after Expedia contacts them but they wait till the next morning to do so. I could have drove an hour away if I knew I wasn’t getting a refund.

The location is spectacular. The cabins for guests are in very poor shape on the inside. Old, worn out, dirty carpet, quilt on bed had not been washed a very long time, no kitchen to speak of and you can hear people in other the other rooms. I did love the open wood fireplace however. The restaurant was outrageously expensive and no other option. The lodge itself could use some care. Games room was badly equipped and the super large snooker table too big for you to play as did not leave enough room around the table. The “new” hot tub” was a really long distance from our cabin on very icy paths so did not use it.

The room was 16 degrees Celsius when we entered. We had the thermostat at max and the temp never increased above 20. This is problematic when it is -20 outside. We contacted the front desk. They sent someone over and they told us that they could do nothing to increase the heat. They gave us a second electric heater but told us to not use it at the same time as the small portable electric heater we were currently using as it would blow the electrical panel. We asked to be moved or refunded so we could find alternative accommodations. We spike to a few guests who shared with us that they also had issues with heat in their rooms. We were told the manager would contact us by midday. No one called us. The maintenance person returned to check on us and he told us that the thermostat for the room was probably not working. Thank goodness the rooms have a fireplace which we had constantly burning wood, but the issue is that you are not allowed to have a fire in yhe fireplace if you are absent from your room. So our room would get very cold when we had to go to the restaurant or wanted to go snowshoeing. In addition to our heat problems our room started smelling like sewage. We told the front desk that they needed to clear the snow from their roof vents to mitigate this issue. The management offered no remediation for any issues we communicated to them. So we are disappointed as this was our special return to Emerald Lake lodge to celebrate our anniversary.
