Excellent staff throughout hotel. Complimentary Salcombe gin in room a nice touch, but to charge for the tonic which probably costs 50p destroys any positive gained from providing the gin, a decision made by a number cruncher not someone with sales and hospitality intuition. Used the pool which was clean and a good size, again great staff. Just need to remove stools in pool by window, it’s not a bar and no view, so serve no purpose and are dangerous when swimming. Shame no real sign of local produce on breakfast and dinner menus.

The Harbour Hotel Salcombe gives guests stunning views over the Salcombe estuary from both bedrooms and public areas. It is a bonus to be able to park the car and walk to the local shops and cafés. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Bed was hard and I was crippled from sleeping but my main issue was with the spa. I booked this hotel as a relaxing couples holiday but it was ruined by kids playing in the jacuzzi. There was a sign saying no kids under 16 yet there were 12 year olds in the jacuzzi. When I complained no one did anything, they just said ‘kids can go in the pool til 4’. I said ‘the jacuzzi’ but they ignored me. My masseuse’s phone went off half way through my treatment

Great reception, concierge and spa and fabulous hotel with the best location. The jetty service however is not 5 star. Long waits, management there was not welcoming so we voted to spend our time elsewhere. Was such a shame considering the rest.

The staff were all friendly and helpful. The property is perfectly placed overlooking the river, with a number of vantage points. It is also an easy walk into Salcombe, with parking on site. Only downside is that we had an inland facing room and it was quite noisy on the road from fairly early morning.

Be careful which room you get allocated

We had a 3 night stay in a partial eclipse room,costing £1125.02, so a cost of £375 per night.
Our room was rather underwhelming for that price. It was overlooking the car park so not particularly relaxing to sit on the balcony. At night times it was noisy as it was above the hotel entrance so anyone leaving or chatting to friends was frustratingly heard from our room.
At £375 per night I was expecting more for our money.
Also I don't think that when you pay that price you should be charged an extra £10 at breakfast if you want a cooked breakfast !
I have previously stayed at the sister hotel, Harbour Beach and spa which I think it a lot nicer.
The staff are great and very attentive.
However, due to the poor value for money we won't be returning.
We mentioned the room to the receptionisht when we checked out as she asked how the stay was so I thought we should give our honest opinion. She knocked £100 off our bill but on reflection this really was not enough seeing how much we had paid to stay.

I had a fabulous stay at this hotel!

The room was spacious, and the bed was enormous and incredibly comfortable; I had the best night's sleep.

The view was spectacular, offering a perfect sight of the sea and the harbour inlet.

The spa was top-notch, I highly recommend this option!

I was delighted with the vegan menu, as it meant I didn't have to search for dining options elsewhere.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and highly recommend this hotel.

A glorious stay in room 412 which for us (couple and 4y/o on a sofa bed) was absolutely perfect. Double balcony with the most wonderful views, well proportioned room with everything we could need and a very nice touch of a complimentary welcome Salcombe Gin & Tonic in our room!

Parking was convenient with the porter parking for us and was handled quickly and efficiently.

The pool facilities were beautifully clean and tranquil and enjoyed especially by our daughter on the child permitted hours.

Food and drink great too and friendly restaurant staff - would highly reccomend this hotel.

The Hotel was welcoming, clean and well presented. Our issue was our room 303. On entering the room it was very hot. We opened windows straight away and on doing so we realised that a vey noisy kitchen extractor or some sort of fan system was right outside our window, as well as the room windows were on road level. The staff member who showed us to the room mentioned the heat and said they were fully booked and directed us to a fan and recomendend using it. This was an old fashioned fan which was also noisy. We did return to reception and complained about thr heat and noise. Again we were told the hotel was full. We had an aweful nights sleep as the room was very hot and noisy. We again returned to reception in the morning to complain politely and look to move rooms. We were given another fan and told the hotel was full.

Needless to say, we had 2 aweful nights sleep and were offered nothing but inadequate fans and apologies from the staff. We dont for on minute blame the staff, but this room needs condeming. It was presentable but not appropriate for a hotel break. My wife and I celebrating our anniversary were pretty devastated and were offered no resolution and this experience spoilt our weekend.

Great staff, very helpful, polite and really couldn’t do enough for you. The hotel was in a great location. Superb views, very clean and well presented throughout.

The spa and treatment rooms were again exceptional.

Breakfast was a continental style. Again, no food issues. Note: you do have to pay extra for an English breakfast etc…..

Overall great value for money and would recommend. I’m sure we will return.

Extremely Disappointing Anniversary Stay – Not Worth the Price

We stayed at Harbour Hotel Salcombe from June 14–16 to celebrate our anniversary, but it turned into a frustrating and underwhelming experience.

While Helen at reception was lovely and helpful in switching our room (the lift was broken and my partner couldn’t manage stairs with a heavy suitcase), that’s where the positives ended.

The room had a clogged sink, a strong musty odor, and worn carpets. A supposed “complimentary Salcombe gin” turned out to require purchasing tonic from the minibar — not exactly the thoughtful gesture it appeared to be. Worst of all, under the tissue box lid was a hidden toilet roll. I’ve travelled to 250+ destinations and never seen anything quite like it.

We booked The Jetty restaurant in advance and informed the hotel that it was our anniversary, requesting a table with a view. No acknowledgment, no note, no effort. When we reminded them, we were told it was “first come, first serve.” On the night of our celebration, we weren’t seated until past 8pm (despite a 7:15pm reservation), and the table eventually offered was clearly an afterthought. Cloe, the staff member in charge, was dismissive and unprofessional.

Add in noisy wedding parties, having to call reception at 4am to stop the next-door noise, and over £500 spent on subpar service and drinks — and the experience becomes not just disappointing but frustrating.

the Hotel was fine and the service okay. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the estuary which had a nice view and got the the sun in the morning and afternoon. We had dinner the first night which was good. My only concern was the cost. We are retired and frequently holiday/travel and so stay in numerous miserly 4 and 5 star hotels. So the nightly cost of £400 seemed extremely high for this trip especially as you had to pay an extra £10 for a cooked breakfast and got charged 12.5% service charge in the restaurant! We recently stayed in Padstow at another of the same chain of hotels and paid only £140 per night? So overall nice break apart from the cost which would put me off returning.

Outstanding in every way.

Salcombe Harbour Hotel certainly didn’t disappoint. Having stayed in Harbour Hotels before we knew it would be good but it really was exceptional. The service from start to finish was superb, the room not overly big but incredibly comfortable and the balcony with seating and a sunbed (plus lucky to have some nice English weather during our visit) made the room with the stunning view just perfect.

We had breakfast in bed two mornings, and each day it was brought absolutely on time and piping hot, with excellent quality sausages, bacon and eggs. We ate in the restaurant on our first night and in the. Ar on our second, having decided to stay within the hotel the second night rather than eat locally because it would have been difficult to have beaten the food and service. The bar food was again exceptional, and even on a Friday night without a booking, there was no difficulty getting seated, served and it was fantastic.

Overall we couldn’t have been happier with the stay. Particular mention needs to go to Jason and the team in the restaurant whose service was practically the best we have ever had. We will definitely be back.

Lovely clean property in a gorgeous location in Salcombe. All the staff were friendly and our room had a partial view of the estuary which was lovely.

The parking is a bit off putting as it’s on a steep slope and limited but the staff do take care of that when you arrive and can park your car for you.

I had to ask for our beds to be twinned on 3 different occasions. Not the end of the world we still had a lovely stay.

Loved the spa facilities which were lovely and clean.

The dinner in the Jetty was also lovely.

Can’t fault the staff they were all polite and decent.

I would recommend a stay here, it’s in a gorgeous part of the world, you can’t beat the Cornish coast!

Staying at the Harbour Hotel really was a very special experience. We had a beautiful room over looking the estuary. We loved the decor and the view. The bed was very comfortable and the complimentary Salcombe Gin and tonic with ice and lemon brought to our room was a lovely treat. Only disappointment was not being allowed to drink our glass of wine in the restaurant in the afternoon so we could look at the view - even though it was empty bar 2 tables at the e time. If we had - it definitely would have been 5 stars from us. Everything else was perfect

Property is tired. Stains on the bedroom cushions. Minibar products out of date. No designer toiletries in the bedrooms. Only Continental included for the breakfast and wanting to charge an additional £10 pn for parking. For the premium charge for staying here, they are taking shortcuts.The sun loungers were left all over the patio area. They were not even tidied up for the following day. Having stayed here for the last 3 years, we will no longer be booking for the future.

The stay was average, although the hotel was ok, it didn't really live upto the price tag in my opinion. Booked a deluxe room with best estuary view, one of the reasons we booked this room is the hotel website described each room of this type to have a free standing bath with a view and showed pictures of the free standing bath in front of a window with a view of the estuary. Our room did not have one of these baths.
The cleanliness was not great, dirty windows, dirty patio furniture, cigarette butts and algae on the balcony, cobwebs on the main room window. Reception staff were great and friendly, restaurant service did not live upto expectations.

Not the same as last time

We went to the hotel a couple of years ago. We had a nice big room, estuary view but on the same floor as the patio/drinking area. This time I paid for balcony and sea view, which was nice, but the room was on the upper floor in the corner in like an attic room. It was small with not a lot of room due to the big but great bed. We expected more of the same like the last room so that was disappointing. I also find the menu limited as we are not real fish eaters, and expensive with a 12% service charge which ramped up the bill and you can’t be mean and refuse to pay it. The food and drink
bill was over £400 for 3 nights and we are not big drinkers. It’s weird because we were really looking forward to our stay. It wasn’t a disaster but I don’t think we’ll go back. A week later we stayed in a hotel in Bournemouth with sea view and great bar food for a couple of nights and enjoyed it more. The staff were fine, service fine and it’s a lovely location and worth a visit.

Friendly and helpful staff, great facilities including fitness centre, pool, jacuzzi, sauna etc balcony with lovely estuary views. A fabulous few days and can't wait to go again.

Hotel was overall very nice, pleasant and members of the team were great (reception staff).

However, we had a bit of a mediocre experience at the jetty restaurant where the food didn’t reflect the charges and we had long wait times.

Room was nice but some elements need updating such as the hairdryer and the coffee set up. The view though was so good and the complimentary gin on arrival was a really nice touch.
