Clean, pretty comfy. Staff were cheerful.

The metal join where you put you lock on the lockers is very fiddly and hard to fit locks. Was noisy when going in and out and others sleeping.

I really liked this place! It was hard to find in the beginning but ended up working out. I met cool people and I wish I were in Japan longer! It’s a really good location! Right next to a temple and there are A LOT of food, clothing, and souvenir shops!

Do not stay here. This place is a roach nest, i arrived and upon entering my room, i was greeted with bunkmates who wanted to leave their smelly, sweaty clothing everywhere which over powered the room with an awful smell. The beds were not clean, there is no AC (I visited in July), and there were signs in the bathroom explain the proper way and place to vomit. Within 2 hours of arriving, i checked out and booked a business hotel down the road and im so glad i did. That place is called Agora Place Asakusa and its so much better than this hostel. Ive stayed in better hostels in Manhattan. I will say that the staff was very nice here.

Excellent location near Sensoji and multiple train lines. A very cozy and useful communal space. I could charge my electronics and work in peace but also be surrounded by other travelers.

Best part of breakfast was the tasty soups every morning!

Leaking roof which was just duct taped after we reported it, but still leaking, sub par beds ( super hard and very uncomfortable towels too thin like a hand towel very noisy guests who were loud till wee hours of the morning overall not recommended, we just couldn’t find a hotel since all were booked due to holiday season, only pro is proximity to sensoji temple and restaurants

This is a wonderful hostel. Staff are really friendly and the location is excellent, right beside a beautiful temple and a neighbourhood that feels quiet yet has lots of restaurant options and interesting people walking around. The place was really clean and we appreciated the free breakfast. Would DEFINITELY stay here again if I come to Tokyo!

The location is great, near metro station and tourist attractions. The staff, for the .ost part, were friendly. Breakfast could be better, but toast and coffee are better than nothing. You have to go through outside to reach restroo., whi h can be a cold hassle un the winter. Restrooms could be cleaner. But overall, good value and hreat location.

Asakusa is a great neighbourhood to stay. Lots of great restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping in the area. Hostel is very close to Tsukuba Express and Tokyo Subway stations. Senso-ji temple is a five minute walk away. Hostel itself is very straight forward. Bunk beds in dorms. Air conditioned. Comfortable. Good value for the price. Good spot to meet and interact with other travelers.

Not recommend family trip with kids. My room 501 (8 people room) really packed, room design look messy. Toilet got no washlet, only tissue. Shower is average. Sakura hotel at Jimbocho, near Akihabara is a whole lot better. This hostel is great for backpacker who only need to sleep in hotel.

We rented the room for our family of 5. This hostel is good value and a good place to sleep and crash after long hours of walking and exploring Tokyo. The shared bathrooms were kept cleaned and stocked. Good location for Asakusa area near restaurants, shopping, 3 subway lines. (5 - 10 min walk).

Location is a full 10! I brought a family with 3 kids and they loved it better than a hotel....because what kid doesn’t like their own bunk bed with a curtain? Had the whole room to ourselves. Very pleased with the quality of the showers, the never-ending hot water and cleanliness of the bathrooms. My wife is used to 4-star hotels and had never been to a hostel, and I think she would do it again. Fully recommend.

Beds are very comfortable. Room, toilet and bathrooms are clean.
But the corridor to the bathrooms and toilet is not in the building, is a bit cold to walk to the bathrooms and toilets.
More clothes hangers and places to hang clothes are needed. Slippers and towels are chargeable. Transfers needed to reach the nearest station Asakusa (Tsukuba).
Easy to find convenient stores, value shops, restaurants and near by sights.

Hotels.com gets it wrong.

Hotels.com does not have the proper description for the rooms. When we arrived we were expecting 4 beds but only got two. The hostel said the make that mistake all the time even after they try to clarify over and over. There were no more rooms available so we had to share bunk beds.

Staff are very nice & helpful.
I came to check-in quite late caused of the flight, but I got very warm & cute welcome from a little teddy bear on my bed....I love it.
If I have time to visit Tokyo in future, I will book this Sakura hostel for sure.

The room with two bunk beds worked out for our trip with 4 adults and 1 toddler. We just made a little bed from unused blankets for the toddler. It is always difficult sharing with little ones, but it worked! The bathroom was very clean. It was a nice time. It is a hostel, so some lack of privacy - along with meeting nice people from all over - is to be expected!
The location is excellent for visiting the Asakusa area.

The Sakura hostel is one of the best hostels I've ever had the pleasure of staying at. The staff are great and the location is amazing. You get a pretty basic dorm room and washrooms with showers on the same floor. I met many cool people in the lobby. It has a shared space where you can eat watch tv and use the internet. This place is great for anyone that just need a bed for the night.

me and my friend really glad can stay at here because the hostel near sensoji temple and the staff is very help[full.So comfort for stay here,but may i suggest for upgrade the toilet to new technology ,because we asia people like toilet with water flush when in toilet hehe.the area was clean.and can save our luggage for 1 night free.Thank you for the welcome face to all staff.Soap and Shampoo at bathroom but towel must rent.

Great location and that’s about it.

Not your typical clean Japanese hostel. Maybe you’re spoilt in Japan with hostels but this isn’t one of them. Stayed as it had good reviews and in a good area but very disappointed with the dorm rooms. Very old creeky beds and too many people in a room. The bathrooms were tiny and freezing in the winter, also not very clean.
Common area was dirty (could use a new couch or two)
Great location right next to the temple, safe to walk around and lots of food choices. Staff were helpful. Atmosphere was ok, but very old and cold building in winter. Lots of better choices out there for the same price or less (which I moved to) Wouldnt stay again.

The hostel actually has a good kitchen that guests can use. This is a very good feature that should be highlighted. Most of the hostel is carpeted, which is hard to keep clean. The dark colour of the carpet doesn't hide it. If I measure this hostel on an international sacale of cleanliness, it is not bad, but on a Japanese scale, it is definitely below average. Management should think about how to improve this aspect of the hostel.

Great hostel with a great staff. Location is okay.

The staff are excellent (as good as they come), lounge is big and spacious, rooms have sufficient space (by Japan standards) and is air conditioned. Bathrooms are tight but functional and maintained well.

Its close to a train station but keep in mind it is not the JR Lines if you’ve bought one of those JR passes

Overall I would rate my stay here a 4.8 out of 5.

One more thing>>> for Christ sakes do yourself a favor and bring ear plugs with you just like to any hostels because when a tired traveler dozes off and snores, these shared rooms and bunks become a gigantic boom box. They saved me a lot from multiple nights of sleep deprivation!

Otherwise enjoy your stay! I know I did :)

For the social and budget oriented people

Good for people who want experience Tokyo cheap and meet new people in the bunk or at the main room. Asakusa has great cheap food compared to other areas. location wise it is quite quiet even though there is a amusement park nearby but was not operating when I was there, but it was on sunday.

Literally next to Shinsoji Temple!

Great place, couldn't be happier. Location, staff, comfort, price... Very overlooked. I went to Japan alone for the first time and stayed here. They speak English, have travelers from all over the world, cheap, friendly, safe, 24hr lower level, wifi, clean bedding, single showers, tattoo friendly, great cheap breakfast... I've stayed other places since but this is still my favorite.

Excellent hostel in great location

Great place, lovely walk from the station to the hostel. Knowledgeable staff always available. The only problems I had here are universal to any hostel. Other guests may think it's fine to come into the dorm room at 3am and turn on the main lights then start unpacking all their stuff in the middle of the room. As I pointed out to them, each bunk has a personal light that doesn't bother others. This is just about consideration for others and could've happened in any hostel.

Well, at the beginning, my expectations were higher. I like to have better breakfast, a bathroom and a shower room in side the room. I do realize I should understand I will have to pay a lot more for what I asked for. They had Great and friendly visitors, staffs. I felt more relax after the first night. I don't mind to go back again and introduce to my friends and families for a short stay. We got what we paid for. And we felt very safe to stay there. After check out, we got to leave our belongings there till it was time for us to leave.

Nice short stay

I usually prefer to stay in a business hotel when I travel to other parts of Japan as very often they are just a bit more expensive than hostel, but this time I was staying in Tokyo for one night only before catching my return flight and I found business hotels to be unacceptably expensive (not sure if that's because it was a weekend or maybe it's TOKYO), so I opted for Sakura Hostel. It's conveniently located (though I suggest you follow google map cos you need to turn to the alley) and all I was looking for is somewhere with a clean bed and bathroom, which they do have. I didn't have much chance to explore its cultural activities given my short stay but they do seem to have a lot going on!

positive;spacious dining and lounge room, high speed wifi, cozy bed, can meet lots of travellers and have chat Negative;The staff were not that friendly, small kitchen and fridge, small shower room, smelly room.
What I felt annoyed is that there is a luggage store room on the basement floor which anyone can access on their own and leave thier luggage, there is no lock so literally anyone, even people walking on the street can come in and take(steel) luggage!
Poor security.

Very friendly and fun place

I booked this place to experience histel. First time in life to stayin a hostel. Just like all the reviews i read, the front desk is super friendly. They are very resourcefu. Since i did not plan at all this time. They almost saved lots of headache. I also made friends with people in the same room. i had a great time while I stay in Tokyo. Also, yhe location is very close to some famouse tourist attractions.
The only thing bother me is the shower space and space in the room. This is because I am used to hotels and really cant complain at all. The good thing is I ended up going to two hot springs. one is actually 10 minutes walk from the hostel. This took care of my shower problem.
They also organize a lot of events.Too bad I cant join any of them due to schedule.
This is a great place for solo traveller.

Staff is really nice and helpful, but then... Where in Japan it's not? :) What I really liked is their social area. If you come before check-in time you still can leave your luggage and spend time there. After you check out, you also can leave you luggage (and stay in social area until late if you want).

Get out of your capsule!

This is something I really miss when I'm on budget in Tokyo - a place with social area. Also this is one of those places where you can leave your luggage for free if you arrive before check in time (which is one of the earliest you can find in Tokyo - from 1PM) and leave it for free until the evening on a day you check out (which is one of the latest you can find in Japan - 11AM).

Most staff speaks English and is very helpful. Common room is nice and Internet is fast as long as there are not too many people using it (>8). Showers are excellent and rooms are great but aircom might be good/not so good depending on your roommates. Lockers are excellent.

You get what you pay for...

In essence you get what you pay for, the beds are small and in a room with 7 other occupants, you're really in each other's laps. You have to pay for the towels, pad locks and breakfast if you're interested in any of them. The staff are hit or miss, so are really great and helpful while others are nearly worse than useless. The location isn't great but isn't terrible. If you cut through the senso-ji you can reach the 3rd entrance to the Ginza line in 5 minutes. Sakura is more of a last minute stay than anything you would plan ahead for. Their are better hostels that are closer to the station like khaosan, which are slightly more expensive but in terms of having fun is well worth the extra 500 yen.

Good choice for backpackers.

For backpackers it's a great stop if you're willing to give up most of your luxuries. It was perfectly clean and friendly staff. My only real problem with the place was being able to sleep when the other guests are being stupidly loud and annoying, I guess this is however part and parcel of staying in a hostel dorm! A real plus point was how 24 hours it all was although you were told off for speaking outside at what I'd consider actually quite a low volume past about 10pm. All in all it was ok!
