The staff were excellent, the property was centrally located and close to most places. The main issue I had with the property was the smell from the bathroom. It seems that there is a waste waste problem which makes the bathroom have a foul smell. Vehicle access at certain times of the day is a problem. If the smell is fixed, the hotel will receive an excellent rating.

They didn’t give the room which we booked, 3 night we was in the room there was no window same like prison and after 3 days discus with the hotel they change our room, please talk with this hotel manager to be honest with customers and which they booked the room please give them. And don’t disturb them.Regards

The room was small and the light was dim. When we checked in there was an issue with the water but they fixed it an hour later. The Internet connection was almost non existing..

However, the staff were all nice and welcoming and the hotel is close to the tram station.

nice location within walking distance of major attractions
Staff excellent, couldn't do enough to help the guests
breakfast was phenomenal...something for everyone
had dinner on a couple of occasions and wasn't disappointed
only downside was that the A/C was a bit noisy for small periods of time but this would in no way put off returning to this hotel

Worst area in Istanbul. AVOID. Aksaray - the area of the hotel - may seem like the perfect area to stay in for tourists - it is anything but.

Consistancy is key!!

I think this was my fifth stay at grand durmaz-consistantly awesome! We walked in as the cleaning crew were cleaning our room!! Wow!! What a great job they did! Thanks to the entire grand durmaz team

Worth the money

Even though from outside it looks like an average accommodation but it is much better than that. Rooms and lobby is very clean. Staff is very helpful and most of them speak good English. Breakfast has adequate choices. Tram station is a couple of hundred yards away. Very easy to get to all of the area attractions via the Tram.

Not as expected

The location is very close to Istanbul's major attractions. However, the neighbourhood is very poor with people selling clothes and bags on the curbs. The breakfast is the same everyday, we stayed for 11 nights and was fed up with the repetition, no fresh juice, one or two types of fresh fruits. My dad got the royal suite, it was vey smelly, the jacoozi had a problem and for their whole stay, it didn't get fixed. One time it rained and the whole room floor was flooded with water.

Nice hotel, good complimentary breakfast.

The room was nice, bathroom was modern & clean, good access to public transportation. Close to shops & restaurants. Do not use laundry service, they washed all the whites with darks & ruined my white clothes without apology & still made me pay for the service!!

Actual the hotel room is good condition for 4 star hotel, but beds is strong for back and not comfortable while sleeping. I put in my recommendation I need my room for honeymooners but nothing happen, also the people they working are not professional and bad communicate for every thing, once I stayed and other guy by front desk around 5 minutes until an employee finish from his mobile phone call. when I need to ask them for every thing talking not good and like they don't like to talking \" Bad Concierge Service\". Location was very bad of hotel but is good for tram station is next of door for hotel. Breakfast restaurant was very small and little things by breakfast...

The manager was not very friendly, but the rest of the staff was wonderful. The room was very small for the price. The breakfast was nice and we enjoyed eating out on the balcony. I also thought the price of the food was very good especially what we paid when we ate out on the town. My daughter and I did a Turkish Bath and were very pleased. The maid who cleaned our room was very friendly and did a great job making sure our room was clean. All in all the hotel was alright. It was definitely not one of my favorite mainly due to how unfriendly the manager was.

Completely messed up our trip

Stayed 5 nights, didn't get a single night of good sleep. Was in a bad mood all week and didn't have a good time in Istanbul at all in consequence. Jackhammering all day makes the entire building shake. And the sound resonates loudly in every room of the concrete building. Even high tech-ish solutions like a pink noise generator at high volume in earplugs can't block the noise out. There's no way of getting any sleep here. They also repeatedly lied to us saying the demolition will stop the next day and without fail, start hammering away next morning. The hotel manager is also just a Grand Bazaar pusher in suit and have no trouble throwing all honor out the window and saying anything to keep your money. Refused to let us cancel the reservation so we can get a good night's sleep somewhere else. Horrible attitude and swears in Turkish which talking to clients. Intense cigarette smells all day long. They don't enforce non smoking rooms either. It's somehow also common practice in Istanbul for hotels to use violently HDR'ed pictures and CGIs in the advertising so you have no idea what you actually get. It's also in a messy part of town so you have to be in full combat mode the moment you leave the front doors.

Decent hotel, but awful area.

I read a lot of reviews about the hotel's 'great condition,' and I am left incredibly confused. The hotel was 2 miles from the main tourist hotspot of Sultanahmet, roughly a 45 minute walk or a 30 minute ride in a cab (the traffic is so bad, a 2 mile journey takes this long). The hotel was decent enough and the room was modern enough, but the area that it was in was so incredibly sketchy and I did not feel safe. I was the only non-turk in the area. I would receive glares every time I walked outside the hotel, it wasn't good!

The room was ok, with modern enough fixtures, but the bed was like a wooden plank and the A/C didn't work. This led to me waking up at several times throughout the night, literally dripping with sweat and having to change the bed sheets. The bed did not come with any kind of top sheet/duvet/comforter, purely because it was so hot that one wasn't needed.

The purpose of my visit was business and tourism, and this hotel would be recommended for neither.

Great location and modern hotel

We stayed in mid-June and found the hotel to be very modern and new. Good breakfast on the top floor with a balcony area overlooking the local skyline. Complimentary water was a nice touch as Istanbul gets very hot in summer. We also found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. The location was very convenient - less than one minute from Aksaray Tram Station and a few stops to most of the places you want to go to as a tourist: Sultanahmet for the Blue Mosque, Beyazit for the Grand Bazaar and Eminonu for the local ferries to the Asian side, Princes' Islands and Bosphorus cruise. It is also close to the metro station for the direct line to Ataturk Airport.

Very comfortable. Not luxurious, but nice decoration, clean and new. Bathroom is very spacious and functional. Essentially impeccable in these basic senses. Neighborhood not very quaint, but just few steps away from the metro that takes you everywhere you'll need to go. Staff very nice, EXCEPT FOR THE MAN who seem to be the manager at the reception area. Got a sense he tried to allow us to check in early, perhaps pushing us a cheaper room than the one I paid for. When we asked if they were the same rooms, he was not being clear. Also did not help us make a phone call from the reception desk to try make a reservation at a restaurant. He said we should do ourselves in our room. And I asked if we would be charged for making such a LOCAL phone call, he said we would probably be charged 2 dollars, which is not a big amount of course, but is still outrageous.

All around good - mattress too firm however

Good location- right near to the tram. Not easy location for taxi to get to if taxi is trying to avoid traffic and avoid a circling of main roads just to get to the front of the hotel. Taxi had to drop us off at connecting main road, and we had to walk down maybe a block to get to hotel. Good service; Modern room which was maintained well and kept clean. One thing, however, mattress was way too firm.

Excelente ubicación cerca de la estación de tranvía, en la cual se puede movilizar a los puntos destacados de la ciudad. El hotel es cómodo y cuenta con buen desayuno.

Bij aankomst geen welkomstgevoel, er wordt een formulier op de tafel gegooid en geroepen dat we het moeten tekenen. Kamer bleek niet schoon te zijn, tevens was kamer kleiner dan de beschrijving. Veel stof in de kamer, ramen zagen er erg vuil en vettig uit. Tegels van de badkamer zaten onder de spetters van tandpasta of wat dan ook. Beide gemeld bij de receptie, waarna een medewerker (man van /- 50 jaar oud) direct in de verdediging schiet en aangeeft dat de kamer schoon is. Gevraagd of hij een andere taal spreekt dan Engels, gaf aan “only English”. Echter staat in de omschrijving van het hotel dat er Engels, Duits, Spaans, Russisch wordt gesproken. Klopt dus voor geen meter. Enkele dagen later troffen we dezelfde medewerker, Russisch sprekend met iemand aan. Niet te geloven dat hiervoor hierover gelogen is. Een zeer onprettige man, respectloos en totaal niet service-gericht. Schreeuwt continu tegen klanten, roept dan “go to another hotel”. In 12 dagen tijd is 3 keer het beddengoed verwisseld. Zogenaamd schone handdoeken echter met een vieze geur. In de omschrijving van het hotel staat dagelijks schoonmaak, echter is er geen enkele dag schoongemaakt m.u.v. het verwisselen van het beddengoed drie keer. Water in de badkamer wordt pas na een kwartier warm. Zeer gehorige kamer en zeer slechte WiFi verbinding. 1400 euro weggegooid geld, slechtste hotel wat er bestaat met de slechtste service. Is de absoluut de 4 sterren niet waard.
