Loved my stay here at Abbeyglen. Was fortunate enough to hear the history of the town as well as meet the owner. Only wish I had more time to stay at the castle. Food was amazing and the entire staff was very welcoming and accommodating.

The hotel is lovely but somewhat dated. The decor has not changed in probably 30 years which in some aspects is ok. The breakfast choices and layout needs updating The staff are terrific and could not do enough. Dinner was disappointing in small portions and boring vegetable choices.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Abbeyglen Castle Hotel. We were warmly greeted at reception by the owner, who provided us with champagne in the evening along with fascinating insights into the castle's history. Our dinner experience was delightful, complemented by engaging entertainment, and the breakfast was truly exceptional. We also appreciated the atmosphere of the piano bar following dinner. Ronan and the crew at the Abbeyglen couldnt have been more fun, attentive, and welcoming. I felt more welcome there than i do in family member's homes. The grounds were beautiful and the 6:30 champagne toast with the story of Clifden was worth the trip alone. Anytime I am in Ireland, I will definitely be making a stop here. You absolutely have to try the Homemade Berry Meringue Roulade.

We found staying at the castle very exciting. We were treated very well by staff. We stayed on a Friday night and our room was above the outdoor smoking area so we could hear peoples voices right up to 2 am. The breakfast the next morning was ok. Eggs Benedict had over cooked eggs and a drizzle of hollandaise sauce. My husband enjoyed his kipper. Be ready to fill up with cereal and fruit.

We loved our one night stay! Wish we could have stayed longer, but the airport was calling us! The whole experience was amazing… From the super sweet welcome at the front desk, to the complimentary champagne welcome party, and breakfast in the morning. The view from our room was magical and the sounds of water and birds was so relaxing. If we ever come back to this part of Ireland we will most definitely revisit this location! Well done!! Also noticed it was child friendly, and what kid doesn’t want to run around a castle?!

The warm welcome on arrival and the warmth of the room were a very good start to our 2 day stay and it got better with the complimentary tea and pre dinner champagne. Totally recommend this hotel. I’ve stayed in many 5 star hotels like Ashford Castle and Lough Eske and can safely say this visit was up there as a wonderful experience. The free tea and scones and later on Prosecco and canapés were a lovely surprise. The impromptu music session in the bar was incredible, a mix of French Canadians and Irish got together for a sing song that kept us up to the wee hours because if was so much craic!! Can’t understand how anyone can write anything negative on this fabulous hotel.

I wish they would have just been honest so I would have gone to bed instead of waiting for no reason. Staff were a bit cold, sat in the restaurant for AWHILE trying to flag someone down to order drinks and food. Restaurant's cashier woman was pretty rude as well.

Disappointing. We were booked for three nights and only stayed one. If you are sensitive to musty space/mold reconsider this accommodation. The whole place is musty, you can smell it when you enter however our room was unbearable. It seemed like it was in the fabric drapes and bed canopy. The receptionist offered to show us one other room that was coming available but we were not convinced it would be any different. There were other travelers who were staying at Abbeyglen Castle Hotel while we were there saying how happy they were. We were not. If you have sensitivity to mold, think twice.

A bit like a Pint of Great Guinness, somethings cannot be re-created, such as a stay in the great Abbeyglen Castle.
We brought American friends with us this time and boy did we have a great stay. Food aplenty and good drink. Our rooms were all we could have hoped for, clean, spacious and warm, with that old world charm that only Abbeyglen can provide.
The pool and Sauna facilitates were excellent and the Spa just out of this world. We'll be back.

We loved our stay at the castle. The introductory welcome champagne social and historical background talk given by (Peter?) was a delightful surprise and set the tone for our overall experience. At the social we met two women from Houston who invited my friend and I to join them for dinner. We became NBFs (New Best Friends). The entire staff were most cordial. The dining experience was wonderful with a great dinner and breakfast. Beautiful rooms and nicely decorated. I would love to stay at the castle again.
