People were quite friendly. The room was clean, nice and warm. The pool was a great opportunity to get some lap swimming in during my brief stay. It helped me sleep like a baby, despite having traveled 8 time zones and about 12 hrs to get there.

It’s time for this hotel be modernized a little bit. I know you wanna keep your historic values but I believe you could do that while also bringing some modern amenities to the hotel. With no air conditioning and only being able to slightly crack your window and not haven’t ceiling feelings it made it difficult to sleep throughout the night with the room being so hot.. Also, the street traffic took some getting used to.

I had a wonderful stay. They have added/changed to entrance/bar area and it certainly has added to the atmosphere of the hotel. Nightly music was superb as I wanted a restful break so the pianist was excellent. Bed very comfortable but rooms slightly dated in comparison to the updated new entrance. Pool area was spotless and all sauna and steam room jacuzzi were warm and working. Staff very friendly and efficient. It was great to see James (owner) present, checking we are ok, exchanging pleasantries and working like everyone else. Very enjoyable stay. Prices have increased since I was last there but that is to be expected.

When we checked in our room was on the first floor on the road side of the hotel. Located in the main part of town the road going past the hotel is very busy and noisy. Because there is no A/C and it was warm the windows were open and it was very noisy. Tried to change rooms but were told hotel was completely full. Another couple who had checked in right after us was at the front desk right behind us complaining about the same thing. At over $300 a night, for a motel 6 quality room, it was very disappointing. These hotels cater to the tour bus industry to fill them up every night so not only do they get a better price but they get the best rooms on the non-road side and less noisy. very hard to relax and sleep with all the noise.

We paid for a deluxe double room & didn’t see anything deluxe. Very basic room. The tea/coffee facilities squeezed into a tiny gap hanging off the edge. Tile’s broken on bathroom floor. Overall would have been grand if it hadn’t been the price we were charged. The castle across the road was only £57 more & that was phenomenal so we expected more for the price.

Clifden is a really pretty town with tons of restaurants and nice High streets with lots of pubs and restaurants to choose from and nice shops. I drove out to the Clifden castle and hiked in (note, the entry point is near the wall that looks like a castle) about 2km(?). We stopped by the beach for a look. Fairly touristy hotel with live music on the lobby and several busloads of tour groups also staying. Breakfast is included in your price with large buffet selection of cold and hot items, plus coffee/tea. Very quiet hotel stay regardless. Laundry is NOT on site, but can be sent out. Local laundrette machines available at nearby Sweeney Oil and Gas station, outdoors if you want to do your own (only takes credit cards!). Convenient location not far from Connemara National Park and Kylemore Abbey

Exceptional service from check-in to check-out. Darrin was very professional and welcoming. He ensured our stay was enjoyable and made recommendations for day trips with less busy and unique stops. The restaurant dinner was excellent (we had oysters, mussels, and duck confit) with a full wine list. There was live music in the lounge and a bar/library to relax in. Rooms were basic with the bathroom needing a bit of updating, but comfortable. There is no air conditioning in the rooms, however, a fan was provided and with the window open we slept well. The campus was nicely appointed with a fitness center, spa, and pool. Several pubs and restaurants within walking distance, however we ate at both the hotel restaurant and station house pub as the food selection was good and tasty.

A great welcome from Clare(?), from Boston, who couldn't do enough. The guys across the way in the bar/restaurant were also fab, particularly in giving advice on Irish malts. As a newbie, I wasn't sure what I would like.
Only downside was the water in the room not being replaced. When I asked about it, I was told it was only for arrival, so whether you stay 1 night or 3 you only get one lot of water. Either offer it or not. The bar staff were very accomodating there too

Great hotel walking distance from Clifden town. Hotel facilities are very nice and there is a restaurant across the courtyard affiliated with the hotel that has some of the best food we have ever eaten. The staff are very friendly and helpful and make you glad you are there from the moment you arrive.

A good but overpriced hotel
We stayed here for a mid week night. We probably had higher expectations considering it was €130 for one night on a Wednesday.
Location:
The location is great, perfect jumping off point for Connemara and right in the center of town.
Breakfast:
The breakfast was great, but very busy, definitely worth getting down for around 8.30am or earlier. We went down around 9am we had to wait in the foyer for 10 minutes which was fine but it was very busy in the dining room
Room:
The room was big, we had a corner room at the end of the hall so that was great. It was really quiet, I don't remember hearing anybody else but maybe you would if you were further down the hall but no complaints there at all. We had a coupe of small problems with the room (Hair Dryer was broken, bathroom door handle was broken and the bath filled up with water very quickly and didn't drain for a whole after having a shower). The bed was very comfortable.
We didn't use the pool or exercise facilities so I can't speak for them.
Overall:
Overall is was a nice hotel but for this price I would have expected a much better standard

Lovely hotel, close to the centre so able to walk into Clifden. We ate once in the bar across the road, it was lovely. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, buffet style but plenty of it and all fresh.

Just a stopover
Fairly old and dated hotel on the main road, but fortunately traffic noise was low during the night. Easy access to the centre of town. Car parking was limited and dinner was only available at the hotels bar across the road. Food was ok but not memorable.
