This place is great. The location is perfect for exploring Connemara. The house is away from busy streets, thus very quiet. Our room was great, clean, well equipped bathroom. Our host, Sue, was super-friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was great, several options, all good. So, a perfect 5 of 5!

Near perfect B&B for a Connemara visit

We stayed in numerous B&Bs during our 3+ weeks in Ireland and Sharamore house was definitely a favorite. It was great base for us to explore the Connemara area. The room was spacious, and the breakfasts were excellent. We really enjoyed our stay of 3 nights with Sue and John. They are very hospitable hosts who know the area extremely well. Their central location on the peninsula was just right for us, one day exploring northwards to Kylemore Abbey, the Killary Fjord and a hike in Connemara NP. The next exploring Sky road, Clifden Castle, and going south by the beaches on the Roundstone loop. If you're looking for a quiet, scenically located B&B run by people who know how to do it right, this one is for you.

We arrived a little early and the hosts were very accommodating, lovely and very personable with helpful tips on things to do in the area including the closeby stunning Sky Rd drive. The home is beautifully appointed and our room had a gorgeous view, a huge king bed. The breakfast, in a group kitchen setting was fine dining standard. We only stayed one night and wished to stay longer.

Lovely stay in the Connemara

We were warmly greeted by Sue, the innkeeper. The room was comfortable, spacious, and had a lovely view of the inlet. Breakfast was made to order and phenomenal; many choices, and the coffee was the best! Nice and strong. Although not right in the town of Clifden, it's a 5 minute drive, as well as convenient place to explore the Connemara.

Nice little guest house

Sharamore House is a nice little B&B, conveniently placed for visits to Clifden and the tidal island of Omey Island. The host is very helpful, happily providing information on tide times for our visit to Omey Island, and letting us use her landline to book flights to the Aran Islands (the next stop on our journey down the Wild Atlantic Way) when we couldn't get through by mobile phone.

Highly recommended.

Keep Looking.

The good -- We had no problem finding the place and our room had a nice view of the bay. Sue was friendly on our arrival and it is close to Clifden so very nice for going in for dinner.
The not as good -- it was a fine place to crash but doesn't make me want to go back. It is pretty dated (which as far as decor isn't a big deal to me) but things seem pretty worn down, carpet worn through to the floor in spots, incredibly soft and uncomfortable bed. Basically an older house that could use some updating to better compete with the other B&Bs we stayed at in Ireland on this trip for the same nightly rate.

Sue and John are wonderful hosts. The breakfast was one of the finest I've seen anywhere, with a full menu of choices including several that feature locally caught fish. Comfortable and well appointed room with a picturesque view of the surrounding countryside. Sue went above and beyond by helping us book an activity for our next day. The location is perfect, a ~10 minute drive to Connamara National Park and Kylemore Abbey and only a few minutes drive to downtown Clifden. Clifden has several nice shops and restaurants (though many close for the winter).

Disappointing

The service was good and breakfast was nice, but the B&B in general was disappointing. My room was outdated and dingy. There was a small old tube TV that got maybe 2 channels, the sad furniture had seen better days, the bathroom was small and cold, and the place could have been cleaner. The noise from people walking around and talking upstairs kept me awake. I would not come back to this B&B.

Our best experience next to our stay in Slígo, we had a great time staying at Sue's place. My wife and I were treated like family as well as guests and had a personalized experience while at her B&B. She and her family are amazing hosts and cook the best breakfasts we have had here while staying in Ireland. We will be back again, for sure! Charming B&B!

Lovely B&B with lots of character. Our room was clean and comfy, with nice rural views, and the whole accomodation was charming and interesting, with paintings (some by the hostess), as well as photos of the family's interest in fishing, filling the hallway walls. The hostess was an interesting lady to talk to, and she provided a wonderful breakfast, fitting in with our need to get away early - she is a great cook!! Wish we'd allowed more time to enjoy this lovely place. Definitely recommend!

Clifden, Ireland B&B

I stayed at Sharamore for one night (26 Oct, 2015) and was pleased with my choice. The room was very cozy with comfortable king bed, wardrobe, a couple of chairs, and ensuite bath with shower. From my room I had a nice view to the water (with sunset!) and up a hill to a pasture where a couple of horses were grazing. The place was super quiet, so I had a great sleep. It was also very clean.

The breakfast choices were phenomenal, but since I'm not a big breakfast eater, I stuck to the wonderful homemade bread, fresh fruit, and tea. On the menu was fresh fish, smoked salmon, full Irish, eggs Benedict (I think with the smoked salmon), pancakes, and lots of other choices. If you're a breakfast lover, you will not want to miss this - everything I saw come out of the kitchen looked delicious, and I heard no complaints around me!

Sharamore is located just beyond one end of the Sky Road, a spectacular drive that towers above the water and has amazing views. It's also close to the town of Clifden (about a 10 min drive), which is large enough to have a gas station, bank (for which I had great need), and plenty of good places to eat. My host suggested Guy's Bar, and it was a great recommendation. This B&B is also fairly near the Connemara national park.

I would not hesitate to recommend a stay at Sharamore. It's off the beaten path, but convenient to the park and a town that should have something for everyone.

Great B&B near Clifden. Quiet and peaceful. Very good off street parking. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Hot showers! Sue, our hostess, was friendly and knowledgeable. Excellent base for Connemara Natl Park, Kylemore Abbey and Inishbofin, a surprisingly quaint and beautiful island off coast. A must see!

Breakfast to Die For!

Unbelievable breakfast, creative, fresh, absolutely delicious! The views were spectacular, our room was very clean, just a little too warm. It is very quiet and relaxing. You definitely need a car cannot walk to town, the road is not conducive to walking. Would definitely stay here again!

Nice place to stay in Clifden

I was always looking for a nice place to stay in and around Clifden and have now found it.
We were greeted by Sue when we arrived. She told about nice places for us to have dinner. Breakfast was delicious. There were a number of options for breakfast and it was difficult to decide because all of them appeared very nice. Fruits were nice and there is nothing to complain. I will definitely go back there again.

A Nice Place With Interesting Decor

We enjoyed staying there for 2 nights. The room + bathroom were clean on arrival and serviced daily. Breakfast was excellent and satisfying. It is made to order with multiple choices on the menu. Make sure you have the exact location of this B&B on your GPS before you attempt to get there if you aren't a native Irelander.

Excellent B&B very close to Clifden

A very comfortable B&B handily located a few metres down the Claddaghduff turn-off on the N59, 5mins north of Clifden heading towards Westport. John and Sue are very helpful with local knowledge, hints and tips. Can even sell you reduced price tix for Inishbofin ferry and Kylemore Abbey! John is an expert deep sea fisherman and Sue dishes up some lovely rhubarb to complement a very comprehensive, appetising and fulfilling breakfast. The scenic Sky Road drive begins (or ends) within 100yds of Sharamore too, recommended for a scoot just before sunset. A great place to stay if you're visiting this area.

I developed a medical emergency while staying a Sharamore. John and Susan went above and beyond to help me obtain an appointment with a doctor, took me to the office so I didn't have to \"look\" for it and welcomed me back into their home to help me arrange my trip back to the states. They were both so helpful!

Value for money!

The stay was good value for money. We checked in very late after a long tiring drive, the staff were quite accommodating. There's a nice lakeview at the rear. The only drawback is the noisy water pressure in the bathroom & the hotel location is remote.
