We love this hotel. This hotel used to be the house of the last king and queen of the Kingdom Laos.
We were greeted directly at the Luang Prabang Train Station by the hotel's complimentary shuttle, a thoughtful and welcoming gesture ;) The location was beautiful right by the Mekong River. The location was in the heart of everything and we walked pretty much every where.
The view from our room was beautiful and we certainly enjoyed it. The grounds were immaculate and very well taken care of. The service was amazing and at the reception -receptionist India was so sweet and helpful. She took the time to talk to us and made us feel very welcome.
Lovely breakfast included with Laotian food and fresh fruit, eggs, baguette, jam, meats, coffee/tea. If you’re a coffee lover , there are some great coffee shops on the river and Main Street a couple of minutes away.
The rooms are quite big, clean, and have nice balconies.Very comfy bed! I can confidently say that this one offers the best value for your money. The rustic balcony provides a charming view of the Mekong River and incredibly quiet.
Hotel staff are extremely polite and professional and always greet you with a warm smile. From the front desk staff to the breakfast staff, everyone was so welcoming.
I'd highly recommend Victoria Xiengthong Palace hotel for its peaceful atmosphere, beautiful views, and excellent service. A great choice for a relaxing stay in Luang Prabang! This hotel truly deserves 5 stars!

We booked a villa because we were three adults and it was perfect. Simple, clean and very comfy! We would definitely stay here again.

My partner and I stayed at Victoria Xienthong Palace in December 2025 and had a wonderful experience. The hotel’s location is excellent—within easy walking distance of key attractions such as Wat Xienthong, the morning and night markets, and the old town centre of Luang Prabang.

Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. The staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and eager to help. On our departure day, as we had an early flight, the team thoughtfully prepared a very generous takeaway breakfast for us and also provided complimentary airport transfer, which we truly appreciated.

We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a well-located property that is close to major sightseeing attractions yet peaceful enough for a restful night’s stay.

Wonderful, just needs reliable wifi

Excellent, friendly staff. Great location. (Note that the River View rooms are not actually on the river, but they do have glimpses of the river) Wonderful breakfast in a lovely restaurant setting by the street. Rooms are very nice, good-sized. Our only complaint is there was no wifi in our rooms for our entire 5-day stay. We asked for that to be fixed several times, but it never was. We had to sit in the reception office to do a video call and to do our internet tasks. But if that is fixed, or if you don’t need wifi, this is a great place to stay.

This is one of my favorite places I have ever stayed. Extremely accommodating, beautiful property, and fantastic food. Just far enough outside of the main part of town to enjoy the quiet and peaceful nature of the Mekong, but easily walkable to all of the tourist areas. They provided help with all of the tours for very reasonable prices and I even took a cooking class on site that was an amazing experience that included shopping at the morning market. If you can spring for the executive suite and enjoy your private jacuzzi room, well worth it!

It's a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. There was a hiccup with the room initially -- not the hotel's fault. The website pictures didn't match with what we saw. This is because every room is different. They were very quick to help us, and everything worked out. It was a great stay, and the staff are truly engaged and helpful.
The location of the hotel is quiet, yet just a short walk to the main road, night market etc. Given that the building was previously a palace, it is very charming and unique. Highly recommend the Victoria Xiengthong for a special Luang Prabang experience.

Victoria Xiengthong hotel was located in a perfect area. It was easily walkable to major sights such as temples, the night market, town. The staff are welcoming, kind and helpful. The bathroom was not updated, so it had a bit of a rustic fell. The room itself was large and clean though.

Great spot to spend a few days relaxing in Luang

Victoria Palace was a great spot for a stay in Luang. Right on the Mekong River. The staff was super sweet and friendly and helpful. They helped us book last minute boat trips, tuk tuk rides to the waterfall and airport transfers. Very well maintained and clean property! Highly recommended for a stay in Luang. Close to everything but not right on the main road either.

A small luxury hotel.

The hotel reminds me of the small luxury hotel. The service was excellent. The location is perfect. The hotel is a block away from the hustle and bustle while still located centrally. I had a marvelous stay.The property is on the monks' morning route which means that you don't have to get up too early see the morning ritual which you should see.

Charming & atmospheric hotel in a great location well up the peninsula and a bit away from the bustle of central LP. Service is excellent and the room was comfortable. An older building, so some signs of age, but overall a wonderful experience. Good bed, good shower, great view. And LP is a fantastic place to spend days or even longer.

Charming Historical Site with a Fantastic Service

What a magical place. Stunning architecture, friendly service staff and manager - everybody was so well trained and always doing their best. One of the most vegan friendly places I have gone to in Asia. They really made an effort to cook special meals. Noy’s massages were just amazing - she has a very gentle touch. I slept in 103 Hibiscus 1 - super spacious room that smelled like frangipani. The bathroom was equipped with l’Occitane products and the bed was super comfortable. I loved my stay and will return. The road on which the hotel is is SUPER quiet - much quieter than the main roads. This used to be the late king and queens’s last place of residence - i thought you could feel that. Highly recommend!! Also - no mold anywhere I was in that hotel.

I would definitely stay at Victoria Xiengthong Palace again! There are many staff members; every one was professional in their charge. I especially liked the breakfast buffet with all the food choices, both local and international. The service in the dining and spa areas were exceptional and accommodating. The hotel is on the the northern part of the ancient city, so it is quieter than places toward the market and center of town. The most important temples are in the area of the hotel and the banks of both rivers are 1 or 2 minutes by foot. You can access boats, cafes and restaurants. All quiet places to sit and enjoy Luang Prabang. The main street and markets are just 10 to 15 minutes walk, too. The airport shuttle is convenient. For all these reasons I would love to return to Victoria Xiengthong Palace

Great breakfast! Good quality and fresh food. Breads and croissants are better than those in hotels I have ever stayed. We stayed in Vitoria suite room on 2nd floor. I like layout of the room. The room set up in U shape which bedroom is separated from bathroom and living room so that we are not bothered with smell of leftover food from the living room. The room is spacious with simple decoration. Mattress is hard for heavy person. A good quality topper would be nice to add. Air conditioner is loud and starts to leak. The hotel is located on quiet street right next to Xiengthong temple. It takes 10 minutes to walk to night market. Staff is very polite and helpful. Highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel offers all the services you expect. Our two rooms were very comfortable, everything in excellent condition, spotlessly clean. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in at a hotel. The staff was friendly and attentive. The buffet breakfast at the hotel restaurant offered a wide selection of Western and Asian food. It is also a good place for lunch or dinner. The location is very convenient for walking over to the main street in LP, about a 5 minute walk. National Museum, night market and other popular venues are an easy 10-15 minute walk. The hotel overlooks the Mekong River and is next to Wat Xiengtong. The rooms are in individual buildings set in beautiful gardens. Very quiet and peaceful. Will highly recommend to my friends.

This is a great place but because it is an old palace that has been rehabilitated into an hotel, don't be surprise if, when the kid in the room next to you cries and the parents are totally clueless, you end up wanting to go to their room and take care of the kid yourself.
Beside that, incredible location and very nice hotel.

Great property but overrated hotel

As much as the place itself is well in the spirit of Luang Prabang, it seems that the place lacks of management, which we have never seen in the four nights we stayed.

The room was spacious, sofa downstairs was not comfortable and forget about the plunge pool which despite signaling to reception was never warm, so useless. The reception should be working inteam, one speaking good English, and making sure that requests are followed up and communicated to guest.

I am suspect of the tripadvisor reviews and rating of the property, if service was improved it could be one of the best in Luang zprabang

Nice hotel overall but a bit tired. Bathrooms, showers in particular, are due for a re-do. Tile & grout grotty. Expect more for a hotel of this caliber. Hotel staff were friendly but could be more helpful recommending things to do and see and places to eat. Breakfast was good but not outstanding. Think there are better options for the money.

Airport pickup was easy and comfortable. The room had everything you needed. Laundry service was quick and easy. The bed was firm and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was very good with many choices. A quick walk to Wat Xiengthong to see the morning monks alms. Close to the Main Street, good restaurants and all the sites. The hotel restaurant was good and they had a evening movie about life in the Laos jungle in 1926!
The can arrange tours and provide suggestions. The WiFi is good in the room. We found it spotty on the property. Staff are wonderful!

The hotel is very cute and in a great location, calm but not far from the main street. However, a few things could be improved : they do the rooms twice a day but always forget something (like refill water), they have Occitane shower gel but there was some mold in the bathroom, great selection for breakfast but some days only a la carte, no buffet.

A very pleasant stay in a wonderful town for a shortish visit. The hotel is different in a really nice way, almost like a set of pavilions. The hotel is well placed for a quiet time, but only a short walk from, for example, the night market. Staff were young, helpful and discrete. Breakfast on the porch overlooking the Mekong was a great way to start the day.

The hotel is a little far from the night market. About 15 mins walk. But you can rent a bicycle from the hotel for just USD 3 a day. Loved the Housekeeping and complimentary mini bar. Housekeeping is done twice a day which is great! Room is always stocked with 8 bottles of water. You'll Never run out of water in this hot weather. Bed is a little hard but pillow is good. Not too flat.

We had a great stay here with three young children.

We had originally booked one of the two floor suites and the staff very kindly upgraded us to a Mekong suite. That room was great for kids.

The room itself was large and comfortable, and well furnished and decorated.

The hotel is great for two primary reasons.

First, the service is excellent. The staff are attentive, flexible and helpful.

Second, the location is ideal. Rooms and the restaurant look out onto a large sweep of the Mekong. We wanted the kids to be able to get out and walk each morning, and there were plenty of adventures for us to find just beyond our doorstep by the river, in the wat next door (or in one of the many other wats nearby), down an old French influenced street, or down the alleys and streets the very friendly locals call home. We had plenty of places to explore to eat at in easy walking distance.

The restaurant was good when we were too tired to walk any further afield. It's a bit more expensive than other places within walking distance, but the food quality is probably a bit better too and you get to eat looking out over the river. We tended to mostly eat out, but were happy knowing that if we needed to the hotel restaurant was always there to fall back on. The provided breakfasts were excellent.

Gorgeous Hotel - Fit for a King

I only knew this at check-in - the hotel was the residence of the last King of Laos, so it felt extra special to walk these royal grounds. And what a gorgeous hotel it is, exuding calm and welcome in equal measure. The staff - from check-in to F&B to housekeeping - all excellent, even the trainee staff whom I encountered a couple of times was clearly up for the job. Lunch as the restaurant was an exquisite affair. Location-wise - it's at a quiet spot 10 minutes walk away from the busy night market - I like it that way though if one prefers to be in the thick of the action, this might be a little too sedate an environment. In the morning, the monks walked by the hotel for the alms rounds, so you don't even have to walk too far out to witness the serene scene. The hotel sits on the higher end of the price scale; it delivers on every front that matters to me. A worthy choice if you are looking for a quiet, elegant setting that's just close enough to the heart of the action.

Great little historical hotel. Well maintained. Service friendly but not particularly proactive. We had a few small complaints such as not always a strong Wi-Fi signal, sometimes the housekeepers wouldn't change the soap in the soap dish, and the bed was overly firm. The breakfast was average, good flavor but it seems like they were conscious of not giving away too much food. For example when the potatoes were finished I deliberately left the lid of the serving dish open, but instead of refilling, they just simply closed the lid and left it like that. We also had a problem with a child in an adjacent room who was screaming and screeching all the time. When we asked to change rooms we were told the hotel was full but that maybe tomorrow there would be a room available, and that they would follow up. They didn't, and no one came to speak to us about the issue. Overall we were very happy with this hotel, it's location, it's rooms, and it staff. Would recommend.

The location is also great, just next to the Xiengthong temple, and the restaurant has a river view, which is great and comfortable.
The most attraction of the room is that, it including a iPod docking station and a ipod playing music. The playlist is chosen as impeccable.
