The hotels staff is lovely and their restaurant is good, location is great too.
The problem is that the hotel's deluxe room is basically have no sound insulation, so be ready for that - they even have earplugs as a standard item waiting for you in the room.
My worst experience though comes from how i was handled by hotel's reception and management.

The bad: Unless I'm reading this wrong, this place shows up as a 5 star on Expedia. 5 stars is NOT the class for this hotel.
I got the deluxe balcony and couldn'tell the difference between any of the rooms, so if you're gonna stay, maybe have them show the difference between the rooms, so you know what you're getting, (mine didn't have the white soffit shown in the pic, so maybe it wasn't the right room?).
We got Lao massage, and would certainly not do that there again. There was no strength put into it, it was more of a rub than a massage.
It's a tiny, tiny room. The balcony is the walkway up to your room (it does have sitting furniture on it, which is nice).
The good: The bed is super comfortable.

Great heritage buildings in normally good location. Staff very good. But major works on the river are noisy and the traffic and noise around 530 am for monks alms is considerable. Rooms need facilities upgrading but tough in heritage site. We did enjoy the hotel and things of issue beyond their control mainly.

Beautiful room and woodwork. Only problem was I was on a corner by street and room had hardly any soundproofing so could hear neighbors talking till quite late. Also the dog occasionally barking . There was a confused rooster who started crowing at 3 am also. Not within the hotel’s control but not a good fit with the soundproof issue. Perhaps a room back into the center of the property would be much better. All staff were great and the massage was good.

The pros: The rooms are beautiful and super clean. The area is a nice, fairly quiet street about 10 minutes walk to town.

Cons: Overall I do think the staff could have been much more attentive and helpful for this level of hotel. There was no explanation of the facilities, and when I was concerned about noise and privacy due to my room being right next to the restaurant and on street level, the reception staff said they were full and there was nothing he could do. I later checked the bookings available online and it showed empty rooms…(which I understand is not always the case but the general attitude was a bit apathetic).

It’s also worth noting that as my room was on the lower floor, it was unbelievably loud as the buildings is old and there were guests upstairs. It kept me awake as long as they were moving around.

For a room/hotel that is not exactly cheap, this was pretty irritating.

Overall there is a lot of potential for this hotel, but the details were not considered making for a pretty disappointing experience.

Full of character in a great location

The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are luxurious while also maintaining the character of Luang Prabang. The restaurant was delicious as well. The location is perfect for walking around Luang Prabang and down to the Night Market. It was hard to get responses from the hotel at times before we arrived and we had some issues with attempting to arrange transfers through the hotel but it was also a holiday which complicated things. We had no trouble getting a taxi instead. Great price for a lovely place to stay.

Heritage around the corner from the Monks Walk

I love antique heritage hotels, and The Burasari offers an authentic experience of a comfortable 'living museum' in a sense, that one can step into and relax, looking out upon the meandering Mekong, depending on the aspect. The furnishings are antique and appropriate. The location is wonderfully easy for rising at 5.30am, experiencing the reverential walk of the Monks at 6.00am, with the option of dozing back to sleep at 6.30am to 9.30am. You'll still be up in time for the daily smorgasbord of a breakfast menu, served graciously by, Vinzen and his friend. The hotel naturally cannot offer a pool, and I so appreciated the suggestions of who recommended hotels where I could pay a very reasonable sum to swim and laze a half day away with a book. All the Reception staff, and especially Litset (sp) were very present and helpful.

A nice hotel in a good location

The Burasari is in the traditional Lao style and overlooks the Nam Khan river. Traffic noise was bad all day and there were major contruction works being done on the river bank. It is one street away from the main street of Luang Prabang, where there are many restaurants, shops and temples. It is within walking distance of all of the sights in the old town and very close to one area where the monks receive donations of food early in the morning. We had a good sized room, without a balcony, but it was dark and starting to show signs of age. We enjoyed our stay but thought that it was over-priced. Breakfast was ordered from a menu and freshly prepared. Fresh fruit was sliced at your table. A variety of freshly baked breads were available. Staff were very helpful and attentive. The restaurant and bar consisted of two areas, one in the hotel and one across the road overlooking the river. It had an extensive wine list but needed more wine available by the glass.

Staff here are very friendly and helpful and was able to arrange a day trip for us even with a short notice.
There is a pool table at lobby and we enjoyed playing eight ball.
シャワーがカーテンで仕切られているだけなので、カップルであれば問題ありませんが、友人同士でお泊りの際は他タイプのお部屋をおすすめします。朝食のブッフェは温かいものが3品ほど日替わりで、卵料理はお好みをオーダーできます。なお、お部屋にあるコーヒーはインスタントでなくBrew Coffeeでした。
無料のアトラクションがついていたので、サンセットリバークルーズも楽しめました。夕暮れにメコン川に漂っている時間は安らげました。

We spent three lovely nights at the Bursari Heritage. What a delightful stay! From the general manager to the waitstaff to the kitchen staff, everyone ensure that we had an amazing stay. The high quality of service coupled with the amenities provided for booking a room made our stay spectacular. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anybody. We really enjoyed our cooking class, the welcome cocktail, as well as the wonderful offering of the alms to the Buddhist monks in the morning. Luang Prabang is magical and having a place like Bursari Heritage adds to the magic.

Hotel is located at a quiet corner of the town with spacious room and friendly staffs. Cocktails are nice there and it is good for those who want a quiet and relaxing trip. The staffs try their best to make you feel welcome and accommodates to the needs of guest.
Only cons is on the noise cancellation. If you stay on the first floor (Hotel building has 2 levels), you might be disturbed by the occupants staying above when they decide to run / storm their feet or you as the wooden floor makes quiet a loud sound upon impact.
Otherwise, its all good.

A fabulous place to stay in Luang Prabang!

Our stay at the Burasari Heritage was perfect in every way. The staff are excellent and ever so helpful; Lan, the front office manager, is extraordinarily attentive and kind. The breakfast (made to order) is exceptional, and the rooms and grounds are truly lovely. We were also treated to a cooking class, which was fun and informative, and the food we prepared (with Nao's expert assistance) was excellent - especially the green papaya salad and the coconut soup!
Burasari also provides free bicycles; they are well maintained and very comfortable to ride. So that was a nice touch as well.
My only complaint - and it is a small one - the lighting in the rooms could be improved. The dark wood paneling, while gorgeous, is dark (duh!), and the lighting simply isn't up to the task of illuminating the room well. Even during the day when you open the shutters, the room is not well lit. Better bedside lighting would be easy to provide and would help a lot, especially for those of us who like to read at night. But as I said, a minor detail in what was otherwise a fabulous stay.
Location is also fabulous - quiet yet close to everything. I highly recommend.

This is a beautiful hotel, centrally located in the heart and center of Luang Prabang. Saying that, however, I do think the price is a bit high for what you actually get.
Pros:
- The staff is very friendly.
- The hotel is very clean and well kept.
- Amazing food
- Amazing location
- Comfortable bed
- Free mini bar

Cons:
- The driver was not waiting inside the airport for me when I arrived. He was asleep in the car. I actually had to walk to the parking lot and luckily he woke up before I got to the car. Unacceptable! I should've got a discount for this. The car itself is unmaintained, which for a car that beautiful was a letdown. The hotel charges too much for this service.
- The bathroom is part of the bedroom, no separation. This could be quite awkward if you're with someone and you need to use the toilet. Fix ASAP!
- The walls are a bit thin and it felt like the people outside were in my room. My room was above the kitchen and next to the street, so it could get noisy.
- The free cocktail is nice, but for the price we pay to stay here the free cocktail should cover any drink on the menu. I just wanted a glass of wine, thinking it was covered under the free cocktail, and I wasn't told till after I finished it that that was not the case. Also, they barely give you enough wine. They don't pour to the widest part of the glass as you're supposed to. Felt like that was done on purpose. The wine itself was way overpriced. Please fix!

Atmospheric, however service was a bit directionless. Reception staff lacked confidence, perhaps lack training or command of english or both. Ample staff, but not sure who's in charge of what. Everything worked out fine, includig tours, but execution felt a bit iffy.
Comfy beds and big rooms but open shower and toilets a bit awkaward when having to do a Number2. Cleaners were otherwise spotless. Our room had minimal bench space at sink.
Airport transfers are not complimentary despite what is said on reviews.
Could do with a facelift as some of the upholstery have seen better days.

We had a great stay at the Burasari Heritage. The hotel was quiet, clean, comfortable and had a lovely decor that brought some of Luang Prabang's special charm into our room each night. For example, the art in the room were framed necklaces from some of the Laotian mountain cultures. Breakfast was always fresh, tasty and there was a good variety that included Laotian dishes. We took a cooking class that included an insightful trip to the market and a half hour after our return, we were eating a four course Lao meal that we had helped to prepare. The staff was terrific. Lan and the others at the hotel helped us arrange trips to the waterfalls and showed us how to respectfully participate in the early morning alms giving ceremony. We also used the Burasari Spa and had good, relaxing massages.

Elegant, romantic hotel in Luang Prabang

Burasari Heritage is a elegant French colonial style hotel in Luang Prabang. My partner and I stayed for one night on the way back to Vientiane from Nong Khiaw. Our room was luxurious, with warm red and gold fabrics, beautiful stone tile and wood floors, and a rainfall shower. Plenty of other creature comforts as well -- good WiFi, flat screen TV, minibar. There's a high-end spa we didn't have a chance to try, and a classy river-view restaurant and bar. Lovely romantic hotel for a couple. There are so many wonderful hotels in Luang Prabang that I think we could have found somewhere with the same quality that was a little less pricey, but definitely a beautiful hotel!

Free airport transportation. Fabulous and very attentive staff. Rooms are interesting with quick daily room turnovers, delicious breakfasts and Terrace dining . Ceiling fans were very effective in keeping mosquitoes at bay. The refrigerator is stocked with amenities including Laos Beer + other assorted beverages, potato chips, all courtesy of the hotel. Unfortunately , two of our Trip Advisor excursion guides were 'no shows' so the hotel manager arranged a private river trip to Pak Ou Caves & hill tribe village. The hotel location is in walking distance to town and block away where the monks collect their
morning alms. We loved the property.

I don't know where to start with how amazing this place is!

I am lying in the bedroom of the hotel right now and thinking how much I needed to give this place the top rating it deserves. It certainly is one of the best places I have stayed in my life.

The attention to every detail from your comfort and enjoyment to the furnishings is impeccable. The breakfast is delicious with an a la carte option to go with the fresh buffet. The staff are so welcoming, friendly and helpful. They could not be more giving in their approach to hospitality. Everything that you could want is provided.

Time seemed to slow down while in Laos!

We had the pleasure of staying 4 nights at Burasari. Originally only booked for 2 nights, and then 2 nights at Sofitel Luang Prabang down the street, but we made the mistake of visiting Burasari first and ultimately didn't want to check out and leave. Our check in was both smooth, a breeze and very detailed. We were picked up in the hotels vintage Mercedes which was a nice touch. We had been traveling Southeastern Asia for a month, and after visiting 14 cities within 5 different countries we were both a bit exhausted and out of currency. All we had left were American Express traveler cheques, and no bank in Laos would touch them. After calling our credit card American Express for help, we were wired currency by western union at approximately 4:50pm. We had informed the front desk of our predicament and had asked for the best way to get to the bank before 5:00pm, and the front desk had insisted and even arranged that we take their vintage car so that we could make it in time. It was their initiative, their kindness that started our stay with Burasari wonderful. The next day we had missed breakfast by 30 minutes and we kindly asked that they make an exception as we didn't want lunch, but rather eggs, bacon, and good ol' coffee. A quick phone call to the Chef, and he immediately agreed to prepare us breakfast. They helped arrange a visit/transportation to the nearby waterfalls which turned out to be a beautiful afternoon. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Comfortable and luxurious rooms in a great location opposite the Khan River. The room price includes breakfast and dinner but you can switch dinner for a massage at the spa if you want to eat somewhere else. It was a great deal and we really enjoyed it.

great little hotel in lovely location

Really enjoyed our short time here however there were a few things to mention - room really charming on ground floor - poor lighting in the bedroom - virtually impossible to see yourself if applying makeup etc - shower a little bit fiddly - closing the toilet door was a bit fiddly - rock hard bed. Breakfast was nice but the food should be covered on the buffet table - orange juice had flies in it and the yoghurt etc was warm. Staff extremely nice and friendly, Return free transfer to the airport most appreciated. We ate dinner in on the first evening - was ok but not great and so would have preferred to have a local restaurant recommended.
All in all a great little hotel and lovely evening sunset boat ride also free so very much appreciated.

Classic Hotel with dreamy river views

Beautiful hotel with tasteful historical decor.
I was most pleasantly surprised when I was picked up from the airport with a classic era Mercedes.

This experience continued when I arrived at the hotel.
The concierge greeted me with a cocktail and a complementary shoulder massage from their inhouse masseurs,
while he checked me in and explain the facilities.

Our room has a colonial era styling with wood and porcelain being prominent, and modern amenities present but discretely tucked away to match the theme.

Over the next few days the staff was very helpful in arranging for transport and giving us lots of hints and tips on the various attractions.

On our final day, we returned late in the day to pick up our luggage for the trip to the airport.
We were all hot and sweaty after a hike up Mount Pousi.
Even though we had already checked out in the morning, the staff found a room which is still open so we could shower and freshen up there before heading to the airport. This is truely excellent service.

Very relaxing and comfortable stay. Wifi was a bit unreliable at night but that could be a Lao-wide issue. Shower was a bit interesting being that it is basically open to the entire room with little privacy but all together clean, interesting, and thoughtful stay. Really enjoyed how they restocked the complimentary minibar. Tried to arrange airport pickup ahead of time but unsuccessful via email.

Excellent Stay

Hotel premises were very nice done up and maintained. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Staff were very helpful, friendly, efficient, professional, and meticulous. Only two small areas for improvement - the WiFi could sometimes be intermittent, and the restaurant food was slightly overpriced. But these are relatively minor quibbles. All in all, a wonderful, excellent stay. I'll definitely be coming back!

Greeted with \"welcome drink\", which was tastefully amazing. Also, it was hot as heck and they had Lemondrop scented cold cloths. Breakfast was really good. My wife was pregnant so they upgraded us to a bottom floor with the balcony, which was very courteous of them. Rooms were beautifully decorated. My only complaint is that I was attacked by a billion mosquitoes in my sleep. The hotel did however provide us with a free bug spray for our room and our bodies. We weren't far from anything. A scooter ride, or tuktuk ride away from markets and temples. We were there last week, in time for the annual rowing championships and the entire street was closed off for the event. It was awesome! We loved Laos and this hotel. Would highly recommend, just make sure you bug spray it up!

Nice Hotel in Center of Luang Prabang

Overall a very pleasant stay with a few important exceptions. Air conditioning was inadequate to keep up with the heat during the day although the room would cool down in the evening. There was an infestation of bees in the room the last night we were there and although only stung once it was painful. overall room condition i would describe as average.
Ont the positive side, the staff was excellent and service was quick and effiecient. Breakfast is good although the menu is rather limited. The location is excellent, within walking distance of all major attractions in town.

Stylish, friendly and efficient

A cute, spacious and atmospheric hotel with interesting design features and our own private garden. It is in a great position with some of the best views over the river for breakfast and diet serves excellent food for lunch or dinner. The best coffee is just up the road at Jomas Bakery and the staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. It very quickly felt like home, and Tok was always there to answer questions and give advice. We highly recommend this small, vintage hotel with a touch of elegance.

Pretty hotel situated on a peaceful spot on the river, and just one street over from the main drag. Room was a little small, but that is the only fault. Friendly staff, great food. Would definitely return.

Great hotel with friendly staff.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms had a verandah facing the river and breakfast was on the decked area across the road. Hotel had a pool table and complimentary bikes. Tamarind and Bamboo Tree - two restaurants we had dinner at are on the same road.

A perfect place to stay. It was situated opposite the river, and the dining area was across the road from the hotel on the river bank so made having meals was a very pleasant experience. Just a short walk to shops, cafes, restaurant's and the night market. Lots of activities to do on 1/2 day and full day trips, or just spend your time wandering around the quaint town and soak up the atmosphere. Don't forget to get up at 5.30am to see the monks getting their daily offerings a must! Yummy food!

Gorgeous boutique hotel

This small hotel is located opposite the river and is an old boutique hotel in beautiful green gardens. We arrived in the middle of a storm and the staff went out of the way to accommodate us and make us comfortable. We have 3 lovely nights and could have stayed longer. Our room was a deluxe balcony room which gave us the option of sitting outside on a big deck watching the world go by. We ate at the riverside restaurant and the food was exceptional. Would definitely come back to stay and highly recommend to others.

Beautiful hotel w great attention to detail

I had a great experience here - the attention to detail at Burasari is really fantastic. The location is ideal, in the old city and on a relatively high-end, quiet strip of waterfront. The lobby, rooms and Terrace restaurant are beautifully decorated in a very classic, simple way. The Terrace is a great location - overlooking the river, literally the most perfect place for meals & drinks. Every morning my eggs were cooked perfectly at breakfast and the other food was delicious. Even the live music at happy hour every night was amazing. Everything is clean and the room was very well air-conditioned. The shower pressure and temperature was fabulous, which isn't a given in Asia. The staff was incredible - they were so friendly, they always asked how our day/adventures were (always remembered what we said we were going to do!), they pro-actively supplied our room w beach towels when they heard we were planning on going to the waterfalls, etc. The free bicycles were in good condition and when we rented a scooter through them it was great. I would stay there again and am planning on booking my parents to stay there later this year.

The only downsides to this hotel are 1) no pool, 2) the bedroom was small-ish (but the bathroom was spacious) and 3) if the restaurant was busy in the morning my toast wasn't piping hot. But I wouldn't have traded my stay there for any other place.

Beautiful hotel

Overall, we had a great 4 nights stay here. The room is beautifully appointed and the beds are very comfy. Breakfast is served in a wonderful setting by the riverside. Wonderful location, close to all the main tourist sites. If you do choose to stay here, please ask for a room upstairs. We stayed in a room downstairs and we can hear the tenants upstairs walking and moving about in their room. That's because the floor is wooden. If u are a light sleeper, you will have difficulty sleeping.

Fantastic in every way

One of my favorite hotels ever. A charming, exquisitely decorated place with rooms and a restaurant terrace overlooking the river. Bathroom was small but I enjoyed the tasteful fixtures and used the free minibar for a drink on my terrace one evening. Staff was incredibly helpful and spent hours assisting me when an ATM machine ate my card. Location convenient - beautiful, and walkable to everything in the small town. Only downside - it was full, and so I couldn't stay here for the entire duration of my trip to Luang Prabang.

Top hotel in Luang Prabang

Burasari Heritage was a fantastic hotel for my 3 day stay in Luang Prabang. It's well situated and walking distance to everything. The rooms have a modern french colonial feel. Wifi was free and fast. The bedrooms and bathrooms are extremely well appointed. Minibar was free. (beer, soda, water, a couple snacks) Service was always friendly and helpful. People were always around to help. My only complaints are that there is no door to the bathroom and that upon checkin I was not told that breakfast was included. Instead I read about it in a review and had to come by and ask. I would definitely stay here in a return trip. Top notch.

Comfortable Hotel with Khan River View

Chose Burasari after extensive internet research for our first stay in Luang Prabang. My husband and I were not disappointed. As a bit of background, he's Thai and I'm an American familiar with travel throughout SE Asia. Given our Eastern/Western expectations, it is not often we find places that both of us truly enjoy.

We stayed in late August 2013 (low season) and had a deluxe, river view room. Both the room and common areas were beautifully appointed and comfortable. We found the staff to be friendly, responsive and helpful.

The included breakfast was wonderful. You are able to order from a set menu, that is somewhat limited but was diverse enough that it never felt repetitive during our week-long stay. Also, the complimentary minibar (stocked with cold sodas, beer, cookies and chips) was a nice touch.

The hotel is located in the \"old town\" right across the street from the Khan River, and within easy walking distance of numerous temples, restaurants, shops and about 15 minutes from the night market area. Burasari also has bicycles available for guests (free of charge) that make it a little easier to explore the area.

Colonial gem in perfect location

This place oozes charm. Colonial style decor that feels modern and upscale. Service was outstanding, from recommendations on drivers to morning breakfast service and front desk staff. Great location on quiet, riverfront street 5 minute walk from main tourist street. Croissants at breakfast and free bike rentals were a plus. Highly recommend a stay here if you get the chance.

A little gem

Very nice hotel, extremely well maintained. The staff is super friendly and eager to help. On little issue: you have to pay extras right away, you cannot charge to the room and pay when checking out. The hotel is one block of the main road, on a mostly quiet street facing the river. Historic downtown is within easy walking distance. Enjoy sunrise from the breakfast terrace, and take a dinner cruise on the Mekong to watch sunset.
