Points positifs:Hôtel près des pyramides et du grand Musée. Situé dans un quartier bouillonnant d’activités.
Personnels gentils.
Points négatifs: un peu loin du Nil du centre ville ainsi que les autres attractions.
Entrée de l’hôtel n’est pas évident. Même l’adresse n’était pas évidente pour les chauffeurs de taxi et Uber. Le Petit déjeuner n’était pas attrayant.

The main issue was the fact we were given a smoking room on a smoking floor when a non smoking room was requested on the booking. The corridor really smelt of cigarettes and the smell seeped through the doors of our suites every morning from neighbouring rooms. The room itself was tidy so issues there.

The walk from the main entrance into the hotel to the lifts wasn’t very pleasant either as you have to walk past a designated smoking area on the left, again the reception area smelt of cigarettes.

The hotel staff in general were friendly but disappointing there aren’t enough non smoking rooms available (we were told all non smoking rooms were fully booked).

It is a lovely hotel but the smell of cigarettes everywhere was a problem for us.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Sofitel Cairo Downtown Nile, which is well located for exploring the city while still feeling calm once you are inside.

The Club Lounge on the 22nd floor is worth considering if you are booking. The team there were consistently attentive, and Ahmed in particular made us feel very welcome. The food offering in the lounge was good quality. The sushi, when available, was very popular, and the mango juice is a must try. It was fresh and genuinely excellent.

Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a very good shower and plenty of space to relax after busy days sightseeing.

Breakfast on the 3rd floor has a much wider selection than the lounge, with plenty of hot and cold options. It can get busy at peak times and clearing of tables was sometimes slow, so going slightly earlier may make for a smoother experience.

We ate twice at Kamala, the Asian restaurant, and would recommend the sushi promotion. The chef tailored the sushi to our preferences, which made it feel more personalised and good value for what you receive.

The pool area is calm and the water is heated, which is helpful in cooler months. It is a good space to unwind after sightseeing. I also had a 50 minute massage in the spa. It is on the expensive side compared to local prices, but convenient if you prefer to stay within the hotel.

Overall, a comfortable and well run hotel with attentive staff and a particularly strong Club Lounge experience. A solid choice for a stay in downtow

PROS: Staff (concierge, valet, general) were respectful, courteous, knowledgeable; room was clean and fresh. Meal package was well worth the price with great views, great staff and great food (actual chefs in the kitchen)!

CON: The bank staff onsite was rude, abrasive, not well organized and took forever for the simplest transactions, there would be tellers doing seeminglynothing while one person tends the line out the door, the atm just outside the hotels bank did not work, I almost deducted a star for this but the great service elsewhere in the hotel made up for it.

Only area you should stay in downtown Cairo…Modern hotel with modern amenities and extremely professional.

Only downside is the constant cigarette smoke inside the building. That is a lot to experience 24/7 on your stay in Cairo!

Be ready to negotiate and re-negotiate everything you do in the city 😂
It’s a bit too much, but try to have a little fun with it too 😉

Great staff and very friendly service. The lobby was nice decorated for the holiday season and was expansive. The room was spacious, but needed a couple of cleaning adjustments when we first checked in. The views of the Nile from our balcony was nice as well!

The reason I can only rate this hotel a 4 star is they still allow smoking in their lobby. While there were no smoking signs in certain areas of the lobby, it was not enforced. Being from the US, I forget that smoking is allowed in other countries when we travel. It felt like everyone smoked!

This is the worst 5* hotel I have ever stayed in. The rooms were dirty after housekeeping had been and the balcony was covered in dirt so you couldn’t even enjoy it. The hotel has no laundry service or room service. We were charged £80 for 2 people to eat in a very average buffet for dinner. At check in, we were not informed about the hotel processes or amenities whatsoever, only that breakfast was on floor 2. The service at breakfast was incredibly poor, the staff stand around chatting rather than checking on customers. We had to request drinks rather than being asked. When housekeeping did attend to our room, the complimentary tea and coffee were not replenished. We also had an empty minibar. Overall, for the price this hotel is absolutely NOT worth the money.

The property was very nice but my Son and I got Food poisoning on our last night at your hotel. We traveled to Luxor the next morning after spending the night in your bathroom. My son was so sick the hotel in Luxor Stienberger doctor saw him 5times IV ‘s plus medication for the food poisoning. We only ate in your hotel and we did like what we had except getting sick. Your concierge set up a driver and a tour guide who was fantastic. I only wish my son who spent 3 days the the hotel room in Luxor could have seen the Valley of the Kings.

The spa was top tier, sauna, hot tub, steam room, comp fruit, tea water, pool area was clean and beautiful, lounge area outside with live music, three restaurants, food was amazing, the smell throughout the hotel was so beautiful. I will definitely be back and next time I will bring my children so that they can experience Egypt as well. My daughter and I are black from Chicago and California and we felt safe walking around there are a lot of street vendors and ppl selling trinkets but you can negotiate the price for sure.

Please forgive me, I accidentally left a 1-star review earlier and haven’t been able to figure out how to remove it. I want to make it clear that I truly enjoyed my stay at Sofitel!
In fact, I loved it so much that I extended my trip by two extra nights and chose to continue staying at Sofitel. The service and staff were absolutely wonderful, everyone was very friendly, helpful, and extremely accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable, and while it was a little noisy on the balcony, once the doors were closed, it was very quiet inside. The views were lovely, and the atmosphere was relaxing. The restaurants served great food, we especially enjoyed the Lebanese restaurant and ended up dining there almost every day because the food was so delicious!
Overall, a fantastic experience. Highly recommend!

Awful reception staff- mean, condescending and definitely need training before standing in front of customers to understand their job properly. Particularly Dina and Mohammed.

I had booked via Expedia for 1 adult 3 kids ( with the correct ages). Expedia automatically changed it to the required 3 adults and 1 child as per the requirements of the hotel.
However - on check in, they refused to let me check in unless I paid $400 as they assumed the booking was for three children. I showed them the terms and conditions of Expedia and they refused - insisting that the breakfast is expensive and that has to be covered hence I should pay $400. Numerous conversations with Dina - showing her the terms but she refused to listen and said she will be kind and charge me $195 instead. They basically said pay this or you can go elsewhere

I paid- as I had my family with me - left a bad taste.

While leaving the hotel on my last day I spoke to another manager Mohammed -I could tell I was wasting my time. I asked for my money back and he smiled and refused. Advise not to stay in this hotel if you don’t want to ruin your stay. Expedia were not helpful in this matter either - the hotel first responded saying is the policy, second that oh as the reservation was for 3 adults we charged the price for the child.

Thankfully being an Accor member helped and they helped with a refund.

The Sofitel is perfectly located in the heart of the city adjacent to the Nile. The entertainment is such that you don't have to leave your hotel if you choose not too. The views of the Nile and sunset are perfect from the 3rd floor. The sunken tub is a dream after a long day of exploring the city. I would highly recommend and will stay here again.

The Hotel will not be my option in future!

I suffered from the daily maintenance by my requested from the hotel for the bathroom and safe, not to mention the hotel staff's indifference to the suffering I experienced in the room, and their disregard for my request to switch rooms or meet with the hospitality team. They explained to me that there were no vacant rooms, but after checking the booking websites, I found approximately seven suites in the same category as mine were vacant.
First, the receptionist, named Hussein, acted deceitfully with me, explaining that he had allocated me the best suite room in the hotel. I didn't understand what he meant except that this suite room was free of problems. It makes no sense for him to tell me it was the best suite room when it was similar to all the suites in the same category. I was surprised to find it on the 9th floor, even though I had reserved with access to the Milestone Club. it's supposed to be on the 20th floor or higher. This is where the problems began. The 9th floor is closer to the hustle and bustle of the Corniche than the suites on the upper floors. The safety box doesn't work, even after maintenance. It breaks down the next day, when they replace it after shortly before my stay ended. Of course, but clearly it was of poor quality, as you have to set a password for it every day!
The bathroom was another major disaster. The water is always scalding hot in the early morning and water seeping in from the sink and toilet, And so on !
In short, will not back again!
