I booked a room at Best Western Saluki Inn in Carbondale Il. The room was very clean and the service was excellent. However the indoor pool was “closed out of order”. I questioned the front desk about the closure of the pool and was told it would be opened in two days.
It was not. I chose this establishment for the indoor pool, to relax. I called and talked with someone and they assured mes that the pool was open. This has happened before. The next time I rent a room if the pool is out of orderd I will leave.

This place was absolutely fantastic, from cleanliness to staff friendliness! The amenities were extremely useful! The gym had relevant equipment that was not dated! It included 2 separate rooms, one spacious space for weight training, one more intimate space for yoga/calisthenics. Maybe the gym was my favorite part! There was also a pool area (indoor). The courtyard was amazing, great place to enjoy the scenery or mingle with other travelers. The ENTIRE place here was conducive for business and pleasure.

The smell of the facility was horrible, our room was not cleaned, pillow case was not covered so it must not been cleaned. No new toilet paper papers was in the bathroom when we came in. Our toilet broke at night and we were just asked to use a pluming stick on our own as their maintenance person left for the day. I refuse to do it on my own and stuff did help to fix after all.

The staff was always friendly and helpful. However, we were there 3 days and on day 1 both the Ice Makers were not working, our Heating & A/C unit did not work and the back entry did not look like it had been cleaned for weeks. On day 2 the Ice Machine was working and they cleaned the back entry way. On day 3 our Heating & A/C unit was repaired. It certainly was not our best experience at a Hotel, but I probably would go back. Again, the staff was very pleasant to work with.

The hotel had ants (and maybe fleas) in my room. The staff was extremely apologetic. They tried spraying the room but to no avail, the bugs kept coming. I asked for a new room - they explained that they were sold out - But they were able to get me into the adjacent room that was not being used due to a broken toilet seat. I didn't care, just need a clean bed.
Now this was all at Midnight and the staff bent over backwards for me so I think this is a plus.

Breakfast was slightly better quality than most average hotels. Amenities were good.

The room was adequate (clean and comfortable) but I definitely paid more than I should have for this property. The upstairs hallway smelled like marijuana, the shower was cracked and the staff barely spoke to me. I did not take advantage of the breakfast, so I cannot comment on that. I would not book with this hotel again.

This was a very nice hotel for me. I liked its location, amenities, and staff service. The hotel was well lit and clean. My room had all the needed amenities that functioned well. The bathroom was clean and the shower functioned properly. The complimentary breakfast was good. They served eggs, sausage, biscuit and gravy, cereals, coffee, juices, fruits, etc. They had a fitness room and an indoor swimming pool. They also had a water fountain, a restaurant attached to the hotel and a nice lobby area. The staff members were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay here.

This was such a subpar room. Location- great. Upon entering the hotel was clean but had a mildew/mold smell. Upon going to our room located on the3rd floor the smell got worse! It was just not pleasant. The room smell was ok but carpets felt really crusty. The beds are comfy. The shower pressure was good. The ice maker on the 3rd level was inoperable and so was the soda machine. Ok here’s the kicker, the pool area was so moldy and had visible mold on the wall. We felt gross and decided to leave. We only had an overnight stay but we wouldn’t stay again.

This place had roaches I called down to the front desk and a gentleman came up
With a bottle of RAID and sprayed..I going one crawling on the bed which there were stains on the sheets and comforters . There were roaches in the bat room and crawling on the nightstand. THEN THE GINSL STARW WAS WHEN I SAW ONE CRAWLING ATOUND THE HOME MADE WAFFLE STAYION..so I did not take part in the continental breakfast they had out..will NEVER STSY AT THIS PROPERTY AGAIN.

The first room had a strong wet carpet smell, and the second room did as well, just not as strong. The a/c in the room was also producing quite a lot of moisture which made the room feel a tad “muggy,” but also can explain why there was the smell of a wet carpet.

No one was at the libby for early check out. I even called the lobby while in the lobby, along with anoth guest. No one answered. The pool was dirty, even moldy steps and what looked like a diaper in it. And the bathroom is extremely small.

Love the wood floors instead of carpet in most hotels. The room smelled fresh like a natural scent instead of chemical cleaners like other hotels. That’s a big deal to me and the HVAC unit is quiet and works well. I would always suggest updating the bathroom a little bit.

The pool was really cold and had a lot of stuff floating, wasn’t very clear. Bathroom in the room was visibly dirty and had a mildew odor - we could tell it was barely, if at all, wiped down. Neither plug ins in the lamp worked. The faucet in the sink area was extremely powerful and sprayed us and everywhere around the sink when we turned it on. Hidden $20 pet fee *per night* upon check in. Overall very unimpressed with the stay for the price we payed.

Spiders dang spiders!!!!!! I am terrified of spiders and had to call front desk about someone to remove them. I can’t use the shower now bc of that. Hopefully there won’t be anymore tonight. I don’t feel safe here. As soon as I got out of my car I was asked for money by some man on a bike. The room looks like it’s been through hell. Patches and peeling of the walls. The outlets on the lamps were removed or outdated. Floating headboards work better when they are centered over the bed, if you can call it a bed. It was falling apart. Drawers dont close all the way. The building itself is humid and had a musky smell. the elevator smelled like burned wires. I spent like $200 for a room for the night. Not worth it. Best western has forever lost my business. I have pictures for examples if needed.
