We were upgraded to the 4th floor, but every morning the entire hallway smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and then an hour later they would go down the hall spraying air fresheners. I thought this was a non smoking hotel?

The pool was extremely cold as if it was not heated at all! The rooms do not have the nice high back chairs anymore! There were hairs in the drawers and worst of all, the entire room smelled of pot the whole time we were there, as if someone was smoking it right in our room. The worker was very nice and came up and sprayed something to try and clear the smell but someone must have been smoking in one of the rooms beside us because it got increasingly stronger! This hotel is very run down and including the paved parking lot.

The room was fine.. the elevator sounded like it was going to breakdown any moment. The first night the pool and pool room was so cold, even the kids didnt last long in it and us adults never went into the pool. The second night it was warmer both in the pool room and the pool itself.

The first morning when we went to get breakfast there was absolute chaos. I guess the person who was supposed to be working quit? Not really sure. All we know is we walked into the breakfast area and other guests told us there were no plates and no one around. We found the paper plates on a shelf in the pantry.. but still no one to be found. There was a number posted at the desk to call if you needed anything and no answer when we called it. The maintence man ended up going in and cooking more sausage etc for the breakfast and trying his best to get things replenished even though that wasn't his job area -- he was so friendly to the guests even stressed out, he definitely deserves a raise!!

The second morning, breakfast was slightly better, but the fresh fruit area had a couple of almost rotten squishy apples in it both days and no other fruit which was kinda odd for hotel breakfasts.. and unfortunately my youngest didnt have anything to eat because the hard boiled eggs tasted weird and they didnt have any kid appealing cereals (out of the honey nut cheerios) and no fruit meant nothing she'd really eat.. and my middle kiddo wanted orange juice and that was off in both taste and color.

Overall a clean and safe property.
When we checked in and went to our room, the carpet was very wet by the bathroom.

Reported this to the front desk manager and in less than 5 minutes we were upgraded to a suite! No questions asked and also multiple apologies.

He was knowledgeable about where to go to eat and also the surrounding area.

Morning breakfast buffet was impressive.

Mediocer hotel with non inclusive allergy for pool

When entering the hotel,they almost canceled our reservation due to us being locals.The pool had peeling paint. If you have a latex allergy, you will break out in hives at the pool. The jet tub was filthy when ran with soap and water. Also,the pillows were incredibly uncomfortable. When eating breakfast, the potatoes we not done all the way. Everything else was great.

Unfortunately, we did not have the best experience at this Best Western. First, I was surprised that the pet fee increased to $40. Many other hotels charge less. Second, the hotel experienced some sort of disaster that wasn’t mentioned, but there were fans everywhere and the ac was turned off in all common areas. Last, the breakfast was missing bowls, napkins, and fresh fruit. We pass through Port Huron every year, but we will look to stay somewhere else next time.

Horrible. The “river” view is a drainage ditch that you can’t see from the overgrown bushes and trees. Kids above us running the halls at 4am, it sounded like bowling balls. I got the worst night of sleep I’ve ever had. People drinking and playing corn hole in the parking lot, as well as smoking pot out the emergency doors and leaving joints and joint tubes all over the premises. No one cared when we called the front desk at 6:30am as it was still happening. We packed up and left right away. All I got was an I’m sorry ma’am.

We like the location. We didn't like that the room we were given had the smoke detector going off every 2 minutes and rather than the front desk coming up and giving us another room, we had to drag all of our luggage back downstairs to get new key. We were given the very next room to the noisy room and while it wasnt terrible we could here the smoke alarm still all night. The front desk said they knew there was a problem but werent sure where it was and thought they needed batteries.

The stay itself was fine. The room was just dirty. There was a piece of hard candy hardened to the carpet in our room, looked like someone used the curtains to wipe their hands instead of a napkin (it was red, so we thought maybe it was blood…hubby was brave enough to get close and look…it was ketchup) the shower curtain in the bathroom was dirty. Collectively it left a “ick” feeling. The sheets/linens Best Western uses seem old. The pool was way over crowded. Parking and check in were easy. Staff was great. Typical free continental/hotel breakfast. Internet worked fine. The hotel was loud and no one was even trying to control it. Doors slamming. Kids running up and down the hall. The smoke alarm beeped all night in the hallway. (Floor 3)

Room smelled horribly of smoke (signs everywhere saying it’s smoke free). Nothing was clean - stained towel in bathroom, hairs on floor & in shower, lobby for breakfast was a mess while manager & worker spoke about how dirty it was cussing as if nobody was around. Pastries they had out were rock hard, instant coffee machine.

Both of us that stayed here got sick (seemingly norovirus) & took it home to our families. Just an embarrassment for the owner/any staff at this place.

Terribly overpriced because they know there isn’t much of a choice on the US side of border. DONT stay here… if you have option, stay in Sarnia on Canadian side; much cleaner & better priced options. $150 I’ll unfortunately never get back… if this hotel was priced at $75 for a night that would still be too much.

We requested a late checkout and at 8:15 one of the staff came unannounced (as in didn’t knock on the door) and ACTUALLY opened it till it hit the flip lock….
So we went downstairs shortly after and I asked what the deal was and she said they didn’t put our paper in the right place and so it was assumed we wer checked out. 😒😒😒. So obviously it didn’t get marked for the late checkout. Then about 2 hours later someone came to the door trying to come and clean again. 😒Definitely poor communication between the staff.
Breakfast also lacked extremely. The eggs we dried up, and the other
options were pretty limited.

No where near as good as past years

Got there at 3:30 when check in is 3 and room still wasn’t ready waiting over half an hour to be able to get into our room
Was told ready and it wasn’t so had to wait in the hallway

Pool was cold first day, Roger - assistant manager tried to tell us the jets only runs when filling but we know they run to help putting warm water and the rest of the time there the jets were running. Was cold the last night there due to having to be topped up but the staff turned the heat up so it wouldn’t take as long to warm up.

Breakfast wasn’t kept up as much as other years we’ve been, this is usually our go to for port Huron but might start looking elsewhere

BW Port Huron is located just off 69/94. It is a great location, however parking lot is desperate of repaving; lobby is mediocre, not dirty but the entire hotel is “dated”. Bed was very uncomfortable but room was spacious. Bathroom clean with reasonable amenities. If you’re looking for a 4* stay, this is not it. 2.5-3* at most.
