Exquisite Thai style hotel white lotus 2.0

Amazing beach hotel with a large suite friendly staff very willing to help at every turn in corner. I love the hot tub with the view of the city in the background of the mountains. There’s even a cute 24 hour snack bar with fresh fruit and sliced pieces of poundcake coffees, teas, and hot chocolate. There’s also toast, butter, jams, and an assortment of candies and snacks but the real winner was the staff and how sweet they are

The pictures made the overall condition look nicer and newer. It feels kinda old. However, my room was nice and unique. The padio bathroom and jacuzzi was an awesome touch. The staff was great. We ordered room service when the kitchen staff wasn't there so they ordered out for us and brought it to our room. Rooms were cleaned everyday with fresh flowers on the bed. I actually feel in love with the place more every day we stayed. My wife and i stayed for 3 days.

Nice and quiet, 5 minute drive from the city

Overall the accomodation was pleasing. The room was cleaned everyday and the staff were very attentive. The only thing that was pretty inconvenient was that I was meant to be picked up at the airport, and that never happened. The hotel staff said that there was a driver there and waited an hour... but they waited too early. My flight arrival was communicated prior to my travels and was on time. I was out and waiting as soon as I could’ve been out. My advice is for the hotel to perhaps check on times etc for flight arrivals as I ended up being stranded at the airport for over an hour looking for the person who was going to pick me up... I ended up getting a taxi to the hotel which cost me 150THB.
Aesthetically the only thing I can recommend is to change the carpet as it was quite stained. But overall I was pretty happy with my stay :-)

Really needs a lot of work.

I wish I could write a better review. The hotel itself is extremely beautiful. It has beautiful art and wood work everywhere. The service was absolutely amazing. However, the hotel needs some SERIOUS renovation. When we checked in we had a room on the 4th floor. The room was large and beautiful. We had a hot tub in the room. We tried filling it up and the water smelled RANK. The hot water trickled out and we couldn't even fill up the tub without the hot water running out. We thought the smell might have been because of old pipes. My husband climbed into the tub with what we had and we turned on the jets. Green, smelly, disgusting water came jetting out. The shower and sink had the same smelling water. I requested a new room and they sent us next door. I inspected the hot tub in there. Although the water was clean the hot tub wasn't. It had hair and residue inside. They upgraded our room for the rest of our stay to a rooftop room. This hot tub was outside. It was uncovered and had bird droppings and dirt inside. Our bathroom had a leak and there were mushrooms growing under the sink... This was the most expensive hotel on our 3 week trip to Thailand and it was definitely not worth the money... The staff were extremely nice and accommodating but it doesn't out weigh the condition of the hotel. The WiFi was HORRIBLE. Breakfast was good.

Not bad, but not grear

Overall, the hotel was fine for our 4 day stay in Chiangmai. The staff is wonderful and our room was spacious but, if you’re looking for bells and whistles this isn’t the hotel for you - it’s pretty basic. We were out and about most of the day so for our needs it was adequate. Only downside was the hot water tended to run out during peak shower times. It only took us one time to figure that out and then we just adjusted our schedules.

It is the least staff friendly place I have ever stayed. It seems to be staffed by students who are glued to computers all day. The room what not as luxurious as expected. I had to ask for the terrace to be swept. There were no comfortable chairs or seats in the room. The pool was very cold. There was no dining room and had breakfast served in our room......not a good breakfast. I am also told this area is low lying and prone to flooding. Leaving was strange. Nobody seemed to notice. Not the usual thank you for coming farewell. considering the price they charge I am astounded this hotel is on your list. I give this a zero rate.

Amazing jacuzzi suite - def worth the money!

The Lanna jacuzzi suite was fantastic and really had the wow factor. Room was huge, bed really comfortable, jacuzzi was amazing. About a 20min walk to the citadel or you can flag a songthaew down for 30B pp. Hotel did offer a taxi service which was 150B. Was often hard to get a taxi back for cheap as the drivers didn't want to leave the main area - usually 200B.
Free airport transfers were great. There's a few local restaurants etc nearby and a 7/11.
Loved the room/suite. Would definitely stay again.

Beautiful room - not 5 star brand new but it adds to the Lanna style of the hotel and the balcony hot tub was utterly amazing. I'm just disappointed that they never appeared to pick me up from airport when it was included and when I directly contacted the hotel prior to arrival to let them know of my flight details.

An incredibly large hotel with a jaw dropping pool. There is a gym, an amazing restaurant with complimentary buffet breakfast, and we could see the elephants walk through the river from our room every morning! It's close to many elephant camps (just make sure you do your research on which ones are ethical) and is located in the mountains, surrounded by surene nature and stillness. Absolutely incredible.

Looked a lot more luxurious on website than actual. We were super stoked to stay here, and it was just kind of random. Like the exercise room is a treadmill barely outside the lobby with no door. It didn't bother us but weird. Smelly stuffy elevator. Low staircase. Room was a little old and outdated but spacious! We wouldn't stay here again but got the job done for 1 night stay. Still had charm and decor was pretty

better than expected

i cannot in good conscience take away any stars but i do want to notate the following: the Jacuzzi in our room never truly got warm enough, the water was lukewarm at the best. one day after doing the room clean up, they left the dirty sheets on the floor, no big deal, the room was huge, but they did forget them. and the biggest DON'T is, do not by any means do laundry through the hotel, the rates are insanely high, i'm talking $67 US Dollars for 2 tiny bags of clothes, they charge by piece, so don't do laundry there!
now for the good: the room is huge and very nicely decorated, the hotel is small so they have very few guests at a time and they pay a lot of attention to you. the breakfast is ok, i like the fact that they don't put out too much food, no waste. the pool was nice and the sauna also. the staff is the best, they all treated us incredibly, willing to guide you and recommend places. i would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful Hotel

It is obvious that this is an older building. Probably from the 60s but unlike the faded elegance of many establishments of that era this hotel has been well maintained (or refurbished).

It was conveniently located to downtown Chiang Mai. Not walking distance but easy ride and most taxis knew how to get there.

It is a beautiful establishment. The staff is extremely helpful and accomodating. We booked an excursion late, too late for a proper tour company to pick us up so the concierge became tour guide and driver. Took us on our excursion and managed all the venue tickets and show schedules. I know that he took the fee but even so, in all my years of travel, when we have been late we have just been told no. It was refreshing to be treated so well.

The only complaint I had was about the shower and the jacuzzi. It was a romantic getaway for us. The outdoor shower was beautiful (lapis blue tiles, hand carved mahogany shutters and doors) however getting hot water was problematical.
There was a shower wand in the jacuzzi so we pretty much ended up showering there.

The jacuzzi was sized for four but there was not enough hot water available to fill it in order for just 2 of us to use it. We figured it out but it was not convenient or quick and my wife...well when it got complicated she just wanted to forget it. Once I got it working and warm it was nice...See through screen to city skyline and open to the stars...but we only used it as a jacuzzi twice in 5 nights.

The staff were wonderful. Very happy and eager to be helpful. The hotel decor is very rich with dark wood everywhere and many intricate carvings. Very beautiful.
That said, the room was very dated. The carpets were quite stained and really need to be replaced completely. The tiles in the bathroom need a good cleaning and the curtain around the hot tub looked like rags hanging from a string. The room had all the amenities you need but really needs some updating.
The breakfast was decent and you can get made-to-order items along with the buffet. They had good coffee which has been hard to find on our trip.

Not quite, loud bar and 3 am rooster calls

We booked 4 nights, but stayed only 2 and moved to the Rustic River Boutique - it was much much much better.

The first night we stayed in a Lanna suite on the 5th floor. The bar across the street was very loud until 1 am. Then a rooster cockadoodledooed from 3 am until 8 am every 5-10 minutes each morning. We did not get any sleep. The second night we asked to be moved to another room that was not bar facing. Still the rooster woke us up at 3 am.

The windows do not close and there are 1-2 inch cracks in each window or door to the outside which means were heard everything happening on the outside in our hotel room.

You can hear the rooster next door from all areas in the hotel. It is unnerving.

During the daytime, a man sprays mosquito repellent inside of the hotel with a gas-powered leaf blower. The hotel did not tell us about the spray. I walked into the hallway to see what the noise was and got a lungfull of spray. I felt dizzy and my throat hurt for the rest of the day.

Additionally, upon our arrival at the airport, the free car service lost their keys and we were forced to take a cab. The hotel did pay for a cab ride, but it was very unprofessional.

Do not be tempted by the glorious hot tubs. Once you are in the room you will not want to enjoy them.

Misleading hotel rating

This is an old classic hotel. It is poorly maintained and upkept along the years. For example, door lock and wash basin tap are loose and noisy. Internet photos give a misleading rating of 4 stars. Requested morning call at 6.30am and instead was called at 7am. Offered me to take tuk tuk to airport at 7.30am because driver started work at 8am. But finally receptionist drove me. After a full day of tour and wanted dinner at 9pm. But was told it was cook offday. I will take the hotel as 3 stars value.

Well hidden, need taxi for rest and shops

Beautiful first impression, however upon closer inspection it is very work. booked a jacuzzi suite that was meant to have windows that open to look out at mountain views, however the window were broken , hence no view. the room itself was very worn. the shower did not have any adjustment button (broken off). Torn bathrobes. The handle to the door to the toilet was broken. The lampshades at the back of the bed were not working. some lightbulbs were flickering on and off. The mini bar set up was incomplete with the list provided. There were gaps in the wooden windows ( which is the style of the hotel) but these let many mosquitos get in to the room. The tiles in the shower were full of mould. The Vanity chair was badly stained.
It has potential to be a beautiful property with a little renovation and care, but unfortunately I would not return until such time as the building gets an overhaul.

I am disappointed, to be honest.

First, I want to highlight something good:
- Good room decoration of Thai style
- Comfortable bed and pillow
- Staff are generally nice and helpful

Something I feel below my expectation:
- The location is very remote from old city centre, inconvenient transport, no buses, rarely got taxi/tuk tuk
- The bath tub is not as clean as I thought, so i didn't use it
- The shower room and washroom facility needs improvement
- I could not find switch of the light above the bed
- There is a beam above the bed, right above my head, all Chinese knows this is bad-luck
- The lift is very narrow and small
- The breakfast provided is way too simple, and the taste is sub-standard
- Wifi in the room is lousy, very slow speed cannot watch youtube
- There is practically no view from the windows

Nice Hideaway

When we visit a new city, we like to have an authentic yet comfortable experience. We were delighted to find Singha Montra. Our experience started shortly after making our reservation. Guy, the concierge, sent an email inquiring how he can support us to make our visit just how we would like it. He arranged for airport transportation and greeted us the first morning of breakfast with maps and ideas for our time in Chiang Mai.

Our rooms were well appointed and comfortable. The outdoor bathroom area was charming. The view from our balcony exquisite. The pool, with its dragon. was a favorite for for our girls. Breakfast was a feast. The staff was very gracious to help us get where we wanted to go (night market, special shop, etc)

We highly recommend Singa Montra for those looking for a unique experience, off the beaten path.

The room was huge, the staff was very helpful from the moment we landed in Chiang Mai, a taxi picked us up from the airport and stopped for us at a great currency exchange spot. The staff was super quick and helpful and the breakfast made us feel like home away from home. All of that without even mentioning the huge hot tub in our room.

Paid good $$$ for this hotel and the only good thing were the maids and restaurant staff. Bird droppings in and all over the jacuzzi (asked for it to be cleaned at front desk while we went out for a tour and came back to see no change and had to do ourselves) and all over the balcony. Tiles falling off the roof onto balcony. Roof leaking into the room and nobody wants to know (had to use room towels and dustbin to catch the water). Lots of smiles and wai's but very ordinary hotel for the money. Our friends stayed nearby in a cheaper hotel which was much better.

They did have an excellent concierge service and a nice free breakfast to order every morning. Cockroaches, Open Walls for Mosquitoes, and Taxis

It was nice having a driver pick us up from the hotel at the airport (about a 10 minute drive) as we got in at around 10pm.

Once we entered the room there were many cockroaches in the bathroom that were squirming (recently sprayed but not killed with insect spray). We told the front desk this and they said they would clean this up as we went for the market. When we returned there were still more dead cockroaches they failed to see in the bathroom. Many other reviews state this as well so if you stay here be sure to stay in a higher floor.

In the family suite the bathroom has no wall to the outside (with mosquito warning signs posted) so we were eaten alive every time we had to use the bathroom.

Requesting the front desk concierge (his name was Guy) he was persistent for us to book a taxi to visit the Tiger Kingdom and other tourist events through him. He stated the price was 1200 Baht but after asking around and finally using the red taxis you see around town we bargained for a round trip of 300 Baht.

After cockroaches, mosquitoes, and a front desk that pushes to rip you off as they take a cut for taxis. I would not recommend this \"4-star\" hotel.

Traditional Thai suite in local neighborhood.

From booking private cars for day trips, advising on local festivals (flower festival parade and Chinese New Year) and the best way to do whatever, Concierge Guy P made a pleasant stay absolutely wonderful.Staying for a week we loved the space and teak at this hotel within its traditional Thai suites.We stayed in the rooftop suite with all windows open to the wonders of Chiangmai. I loved the rooftop spa and outside shower, showering in the open viewing the Chiangmai skyline at dawn. The locality provided great local dining options and just the right amount of culture shock to make things exciting. The buffet breakfast was superb and the welcoming and helpful staff made our time spent here pleasant and fun. The pool and sauna got a work out by our girls, and the free shuttle service to Chiangmai central helped to get a grip on how things in Chiangmai operated.
Highly recommend this place if you want room space, views, service, friendly atmosphere and a local location, love Singha Montra.

Hotel is pretty old and needs to keep up on maintenance. Toilet wasn't flushing when we came and some of the lighting was out on the balcony. One of the lamps next to the bed wasn't turning on. Needs some renovations done. Elevator feels like its on its last leg and feels like it might need to be serviced. Hot tubs on the balcony are the big perk at this hotel and make it worth the stay.

Staff was helpful but also put breakfast away before 10:30am which is when they said it closed. They still let us order breakfast off the menu at no extra charge but it was a little annoying.

Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

In the Middle of Nowhere

The hotel is far from the Chiang Mai's Old City. It's literally in the middle of nowhere. There was no restaurant, no spa, no store or what so ever. You cannot just walk out for food or message or even a coconut.
I paid a lot to stay in this hotel because of the Jacuzzi which is the little private swimming pool and it was DIRTY!!! They were fixing their tank or whatever. The water was yellow and there was a lot of black stuff in the water. I was very unhappy with my money wasted this way.

The bathroom is actually out on the balcony, along with the jacuzzi. I didn't mind this, but some people might find it off putting. We had a jacuzzi every night and really enjoyed it. On top of all that, they have a car and van that they use to pick up/drop off guests to the airport and city centre. Overall we were very pleased.

Hotel would have been really good if it was not for the location as it's in quite a run down area. No imediate shops nearby so had to get a taxi or a tuktuk.
Apart from this the hotel was good, staff friendly and polite.

Quiet hotel in ChiangMai

If your going to ChiangMai to relax, this would be a good choice. Thai food with great variety for breakfast. Ala carte orders for the usual breakfast food is available at no extra cost.

Theres also a shuttle service to and from the airport and from the hotel to the old city and the night market available from 9am to 9pm. Rooms are very spacious and clean, and so was the bathroom.

Kudos to Guy from the concierge who was very much helpful in recommending what to see in ChiangMai and also for the advanced arrangement on all our shuttle services.

This is an incredible hotel! Friendly staff, beautiful rooms, amazing breakfast. The staff even stopped by our room to bring us juice and snacks. They also provide transportation into town and to the hotel. We would definitely recommend this hotel for couples. It was a very romantic stay. I can't say enough positive things about this hotel.

Great stay at singha! The decor is absolutely beautiful and very authentic! Was checked into the room very quickly and shown around. The jacuzzi was a really great touch! Although could have done with some kind of manual as I was left to my own devices to figure it out. The bed, room and bedroom decor was fantastic and very spacious! Location is a little far out from the old city but is only a 15 min walk or a tuk tuk away. Great hotel and would defiantly stay here again.

Worst hotel in the world!

Absolutely the worst hotel we've ever stayed at in the world. We can't understand how its got 4.5 stars on trip advisor.

We were meant to stay for 4 nights but after a sleepless first night we immediately checked out and found a new hotel in Chiang Mai. The main reason we booked this hotel was for the Jacuzzi but the jacuzzi was dirty and we tried to fill it up to half a day but it didn't fill up as all the water kept leaking out of the drain hole at the bottom.

Then when we couldn't have a shower a there was no water, I immediately complained to the hotel staff who said they would call the plumber and that it would be sorted out in 30 minutes but this didn't happen. When we returned to the hotel later the water was working again but the same problem happen the next morning when we tried to brush our teeth but there was no water. So again I complained to hotel staff and again they said it would take 30minutes to sort out. So that morning we ended up brushing our teeth with our own bottled water.

The last thing was that there were big cockroaches in our room at night so didn't get a goodnights sleep.

Overall I would not recommend stay at this hotel and it really is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.

Hotel is old and shows its age in places but mostly adds to the charm. The carpets could use a changing as they are stained. The shower was tempermental with hot/cold. Breakfast was a good variety of east/ western food. Bed was very comfy, staff was great and nightly tea delivered to the room was a bonus.

If you want a hideaway from the town area

This hotel is situated among the inner housing area, but very near to the airport. So travelling out to other areas needs the hotel reception to arrange transport for you. Rooms are very spacious and the toilet is nice and big too. Only thing about the shower was that it doesnt give u constant warm water. It gets hot than cold hot than cold. But the jaccuzzi is a nice and fun thing which comes with soap bubble.

Great experience and we enjoyed the Lanna Spa room

It was a great experience. Far enough away from the city to be quiet and yet very accessible by tuk tuk - you had to wait all of 1 minute to get picked up at road end.
Breakfast was very acceptable and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It was a pleasant surprise to have decent coffee at breakfast from a proper coffee machine included in the complimentary breakfast. The Concierge Guy was very helpful organising tours and Anna was an excellent patient tour guide who also surprised us by taking photos of us while we were out and about with her.

Donot buy ticket from hotel. Location far.

Manager only target at commission and always try to persuade you buy tickets from the hotel. He made some mispresentation on rules. For example, he said according to zoo's rule, we have to buy ticket for my 2 years old daughter. When ride the elephant, only the mum can accompany my daughter and I have to ride another elephant. In fact, the rule doesn't apply to a kid less than 1 meter high. It was a dangerous experience to have the mum and baby ride the elephant only. In some sinario, when the elephant down from a sharp slope. The mum need to make sure the baby and herself together with some other staffs would not fall down from the elephant which is very hard.
In addition, the hotel located far away from the city. You need to take dudu each single time when you want to do something outside the hotel. For example, I paid 200 bah for dudu to go to a pharmacy shop at 10 am.
The Spa looks good, but it was very dirty. Not sure how long they clean it. It spent me half an hour to clean it before using.

Great hotel for a getaway!

My wife and I stayed for one night at this hotel for an anniversary getaway. We had a wonderful stay. The staff was very helpful and quick to help us with a number of requests. The room was wonderful and we loved the private jacuzzi on the deck. The rooms are beautifully adorned and quite large. We loved the little rice treats and tea provided upon our arrival while waiting to check in. For dinner we decided to order the Dinner Set A for room service for two for about 1,000 baht. We weren't expecting dinner to be fantastic at that price, and while it did take a bit longer than we expected to prepare, it was worth the wait. The four course meal was quite delicious (especially the papaya salad!) and presented very nicely. The pool downstairs, while not large, is quite adequate for doing some laps in the morning and they have a small fitness corner with a few machines. The breakfast buffet was good. Although they had a number of a la carte western breakfast selections, I'm glad they recommend we try some of the Thai breakfast buffet items. Very tasty and you can tell how much work was put into preparing the food items. We loved our stay and would be glad to visit again.

Our stay was made special by the very special staff at Singha Montra, which is their greatest asset. Nothing was too much trouble, everything was provided with grace and a smile, and their attiude to their guests ws one of care and consideration. Mr Guy, the consierge, was a huge help with arranging tours and outings, as well as anticipating what local information his guests would need during their stay. They didn't even blink when we inadvertently flooded our balcony from the spa, causing a torrent of water to cascade down the front of the building within an hour of our arrival! A staff member came, dealt with the situation by turning off the right switch, all with a smile and no fuss. There was a big storm with thunder and lightning one night, causing flooding on some of the lower floors - all the mopping up was done without a fuss and all was business as usual for the guests. The hotel itself is somewhat tired looking in some ways, with an apparent constant battle with the heat and humidity, some quirky touches like having a beaten up and obviously damaged modern style floor lamp in the room which looked very out of place in the traditional Thai decor. This only added to the hotel's charm and ambiance, which I loved. We were very fortunate to have had the pleasure of experiencing the hospitality of Mr Guy and his staff on our first visit to the lovely city of Chiang Mai.

We were delighted with the hotel, Just what we wanted to get us into the complete feeling of Thailand. Nothing was a trouble and the whole hotel was spotless. the Concerge , Guy ,was also exceptional and went out of his way to ensure that we were looked after, not only in the Hotel but with booking of a private car for 3 days,also a dental visit required. Where to go and what to do.Although we did not expect it ,we were met at the airport by the Hotel and driven at no cost to the Singra Montra. Such a nice touch.

The hotel was ok. I wouldn't recommend it to a friend. The only best part was the jacuzzi. The pool was dirty and cold, looked at if it was over look. The gym was extremely small. The service was very slow. And English was limited. It's far from the main city. We had to catch the tuk tuk, 100baht each way. I wouldn't come back

Slightly out of town, next to a very loud karaoke

Hotel very dark, and the floor was peeling so you ended up with black bits everywhere. The room lay out was odd and whilst it was clean (apart from the peeling floor) it wasn't particular comfortable.

The pool area went onto the road and no where really to sit by it

Food was very nice but overall very disappointed given the room rates

Location is somewhat away from center of town, but easily accessible by red taxi for about 20 Baht pp. Hotel is beautiful, however rooms are very dark, hard mattress and some construction noise early in the morning, because something is being built right next to hotel. Compared to the other 4 hotels in our trip to Thailand, this was by far the worst despite being the most expansive. The Sky Roof Jacuzzi Suite was a lovely room, but the service quality was lacking. Literally. We had to order food from the restaurant at reception and walk between the two any time an issue arose.

Great hotel for family

This is a lovely little hotel tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The staff is warm and friendly and helped with all our needs. They offered to share and explain their traditions associated with the Thai New Year and everything to do with the Songkram Festival! It is just tuk tuk ride to the city's center.

Looks Good in the Brochure but not close up

My wife and I had booked 5 nights at this hotel but only stayed for one and moved to a different hotel for the remainder of our stay in Chiang Mai. We would concur with previous reviews that the hotel looks good but has many problems. Whilst our jacuzzi suite was spacious it was filthy particularly the bathroom and the jacuzzi, which we did not use. The breakfast buffet was the worst we have experienced in many years of travelling. Tables were not set, the choice was very limited and the staff were not proactive in keeping the buffet stocked, although when requested they did begrudgingly replenish it with some over cooked items. The swimming pool is more like an overgrown fish pond, with numerous aircon units positioned above draining directly into it. The hotel is located in a residential area which in its self is not an issue but you need a taxi to get in and out of town and there is little or nothing to do within a reasonable walking distance of the hotel. On the night we stayed the advertised free hotel transport was not available although we were met at the airport on arrival. Frustratingly this little hotel has the potential to be much better the suites are spacious and beautifully decorated but let down by poor cleanliness and maintnenace, additionally the standard of the breakfast buffet needs to improve significantly. Needles to say based on our recent experience we will not be returning and would not recommend this hotel to others.

Best part of our stay!

This hotel was our favorite part of the trip. We booked it and kept looking back online to see if the Lanna Suite really was the lowest priced option and if it really did have a Jacuzzi tub. It does! The hotel is very nice, especially for Chiang Mai. Our room was clean and huge! The hotel doesn't have a lot of extra amenities and is no chain hotel. A bit dark at night because of poor lighting and no iron in the room (weird). Overall though we loved staying here and will come back again. A great retreat away. The location is a bit far out of town which we loved, it was quieter and more peaceful. If you want a hotel that is close to all the action then this isn't it. Although it is out a bit the hotel usually has a car or minivan that can get you anywhere for 100 baht. When coming back from most places the Tuk Tuk is also 100 baht. In Chiang Mai we found that you always seem to go out somewhere for a tour and almost every company or attraction will pick you up at the hotel so it is super easy. Definitely recommend this hotel and we will be coming back!
