A horrible place. So old. Air conditioner was so loud it was impossible to keep on at night. Poor breakfast and restaurant. Swimming pool, the reason for my booking, was not in use with no notice to me at the front desk despite I asked its opening hours, and just horrible old place. No upgrade to room despite Hotels.com status and no promised 20% off food either

It was probably very good decades ago.

It was simple. but the hotel is in a location that is no longer so good. At night it seems even dangerous to walk around. The hotel is old, has the basics, and frankly the windows face a steel structure that has not been clean for years.
I would not return to that hotel unless my company insists on booking there.

Great service despite tired look

Still a very good standard hotel. Clean and comfortable. Must have been quite exceptional in its day (built in 1961) considering its location. Still modern-looking triangular building dominates area. A little 'frayed' around the edges on the inside. But standard of service in the hotel be it food or staff is still very recommendable. I would not hesitate to stop here again.

Personally thought Hotel in good location, restaurants close by. Good for just relaxing around the spacious patio and pool overlooking the plaza or wandering streets and checking out some of the historical buildings. Area active and felt safe.

Fantastic hotel considering the options available

Was a very comfortable stay, service is on point.
Only trouble I had was a load air con, and I wouldn't get my Landry done for what they charge. Otherwise central location, very quick room service, and brilliant staff. Breakfast options are plentysome, and also provide free use of computers for internet which I though was a good touch.

Excellent hotel in a central location

If you are a tourist, look no further, this hotel is your choice because all historic and important points of interests are all within walking distance. It's in old side of town, but it's a modern hotel.
The facility is nice and clean. The bed is comfortable. The staff is awesome and friendly.
I would stay there again and highly recommend anyone to be there.
When I was there, saw some foreign reporters staying in this hotel as well. They all said it's a good hotel, convenient, and close to where all important activities take place.

The hotel is located in the center of downtown Asuncion, so it is close to pretty much everything. The hotel rooms are alright, but are a little bit cramped because the furniture is too big for the size of the room. The breakfast though was excellent with a large variety of hot and cold food.

The room was slightly smaller than I expected but more than adequate, with a large queen sized bed. Generally the room was clean although the bathroom was slightly dated. The restaurant served an decent standard of food at a good price (the buffet is particularly good). The staff were very friendly and many spoke English.

I love this hotel.

What a great Hotel very clean very friendly very efficient service nice staff beautiful Lobby great walking in the area and shopping as well. The staff also had no problem to store my bags until I was ready to go to my final destination. The food and the restaurant was also great. The casino I would rate as Medium as their machines do not pay very much but it was very enjoyable and nice bar and events.

Highly recommended - unless you need daytime wifi!

Altogether very satisfactory stay, however, they need to sort their wifi capacity! During the day it took me a couple hours to do things I usually do in 5 minutes. At night when most people are sleeping the wifi was as good as it should be. Good food, late checkout, friendly staff, pity when such an excellent experience is let down by poor daytime wifi.

This hotel is probably one of the nicer hotels in Asuncion and they were very helpful with my arrangements. It has a feel of an older era but they have done a good job of keeping it updated. It was the center of activities for the independence day celebration, so I dont know how the area is on a normal day. The pool are is huge and would be great in warm weather.

Location is great, but the hotel is old

The hotel location is excellent, banks, souvenirs, transportation, stores, the Hard Rock Cafe. Staff is wonderful, they are very kind and price is good, but the hotel is old, and this is something you cant overlook. The rooms are very small and the bed is hard. I was in 11th floor and could still hear the noise of the honking cars. There is a funny smell in the hotel. The bathroom was not neat clean like expected.

A Peace Corps volunteer returns to Paraguay

This hotel has the best location in Asuncion, right on the central plaza and close to key restaurants and vibrant activity. If you want five star, stay elsewhere but the service was excellent, as was the food, including a great buffet breakfast. Very friendly staff. This trip was a return to where I was a Peace Corps volunteer 35 years ago and this hotel and its people helped the trip to be great.

When I getting at the hotel they don't have available room, my booked room, so the gave a up grade. The room was a suit too big for me, it was a little scary. The minibar has soft drink and one was opened. The bathroom is not confortable, the tube has a little black spots on it. The air conditioner had a sound. The bed was similar to an hamaca, too soft. The first day I could sleep well, invite morning so ask on front desk to change me to other room and they confirmed me that in the afternoon when I go back I will have a room as I booked but when I go back I didn't have it because there wasn't available room, so I had to sleep again in the scary suit. The first day I had to left the hotel at 7am due my work in Asuncion and the surprise was that the breakfast was serverd from 7 to 10 am. Most of the hotel server the breakfast at 6am. The breakfast is normal, but if you want to have a good coffee and other types of eggs or omelet you have to pay for.

This hotel is vey old & Dirty! When I arrived in my room the dark blue pillows had white stains. Overall experience was bad. No visibility... rooms are very very dark.. and the surroundings dont make it any better! I do not recommend.

We stayed in Asuncion surrounding our flights in and out of the country. Lobby was impeccably clean. Desk staff was helpful in both English and Spanish. They gladly adjusted my two people one bed reservation to two beds when they saw it was my daughter and I traveling together. The breakfast spread was abundant and delicious. Our rooms were clean and neat, and in style with the local customs there was room for two beds, one desk and chair. plenty of closet space, if I would have been there long enough to use them. Bathroom and tv worked well as did the air conditioning. We were graciously provided with forks when we asked since we had discovered a delightful piece of cheesecake from a nearby restaurant.

My daughter enjoyed the exercise room and the wi-fi.

Cannot expect much for a 4* in Paraguay

This is one of the best hotels in Paraguay, but unfortunately for an Int'l traveler it's not even close to a 4* but rather an old 2-3*. The hotel is pretty old, the rooms are old, the bathroom is old, etc.....The country has been booming but apparently Paraguayans are still asleep as far as making good lodging for business travelers and tourists.

Downtown but not desirable area at night

The hotel was obviously once a higher class hotel but it has seen better days. There was a musty smell in some areas and the hotel is in need of a refresh. Our room was quite small, especially the washroom. Close to some downtown businesses but otherwise not the greatest area, especially at night. At half the price of the Sheraton though, it was not bad value.

Out stay The Guarani Esplendor was great-perfect location (the best in downtown Asuncion), friendly and accommodating staff. Great breakfast selection. Only downside was that the spa was not as advertised, but there was a large pool area. I would stay here again.

Lot's of problems in this hotel

The hotel appeared to be fairly nice, but wasn't . There was a day and a half with almost no hot water. The internet service worked for a while then wouldn't for several hours. The room air conditioner would not hold a constant temperature. Move the thermostat 1 degree and the AC would stay on until you moved it back 1 degree and then it would nevercome on again.

The room was surprisingly small. It was like a european single room.

This hotel looks good in photos but it is not really great:
- Fitness center is poorly maintained and equipped.
- Room window frames are very tick so rooms are dark and almost without an external view.
- Towels looked too old.
- You are required to present your Expedia reservation voucher when you arrive. Why? I could not figure this out.
- Worst issue is customer attention: I was charged for a number of minibar items that I did not take. While the frontdesk clerk accepted to take items from bill, he did not stop saying \"This is very strange, this is very strange\" as if I was lying. Another anecdote: A colleague left the hotel for the weekend. When he was stepping out with a piece of luggage, he was stopped rudely by an employee who started questioning him as if he was attempting to leave without paying. Here I should note that the hotel was prepaid and that we signed a blank voucher for incidentals.

We stayed three nights at this hotel, recently re-opened after extensive renovations. It was a pleasant stay and everything worked well and the staff was helpful. The area used to be a lot more centric but now that all the shopping has moved to the suburbs, the area has become full of street vendors who sell traditional Paraguayan work. The area is in the midst of being revitalized so should be getting nicer in the next few years. Great place to see a bit of the colonial construction around Asunción.

Good price for a nice hotel

The rooms are not what is pictured - I'm not sure what the VIP suites cost, but be aware the \"Concept Suites\" are a little more ordinary. It's a nice, clean room with a decent bed.

Nice pool and balcony on the 2nd floor, and it was fairly empty when I went (Mid April). There is a nice restaurant in the hotel too, with reasonable prices (not cheap, not too expensive). The provided breakfast was nice - better than the \"continental breakfast\" of US motels. The gym won't take any prizes, but there is one. The lobby smells slightly of smoke, but my room was fine.

For $57 usd per night you cant beat this (incl free breakfast and wifi). You could stay at the newer/modern section of Asuncion called Camelitas where Hotel Ibis , Sheraton are but you pay almost 50-100% more.
