The room had smelled like the previous guest was smoking in it and there was a bag over the smoke detector. Overall it was exactly what we needed for coming to town for the Sudbury Rocks Marathon. This area of Sudbury is typically overrun with drug use and homelessness so I would caution anyone who is anxious about that type of situation

There was an abundance of drug use in the parking lot. Homeless people going through bins of garbage at the entrance. Car alarms going off every few minutes. Didn’t really feel safe leaving my car there, but what choice did I have??? Very limited parking and when there were no spots left I asked where I was supposed to park I was told to park a block away in an underground parking lot where I had to walk through fentanyl zombies. When I told them it wasn’t acceptable the front desk told me she was going to call the police and have me removed from the building (what a blessing that would have been!!!). I’m there with my 80 year old father who has dementia and is undergoing cancer treatments. He can barely walk. Parking a block away wasn’t happening and it wasn’t safe to drop him off and leave him surrounded with all the criminal activity going on. Luckily another patron saw what was happening and moved his truck so I could park close.

On top of all this I’m pretty sure the place hasn’t been cleaned in 10 years. When I asked for more face cloths and towels the housekeeping informed me there were none. She also said they have a total of 10 sets of sheets for the entire hotel. My god what kind of place is this???? Hearing that makes me wonder if the sheets were even changed from the last guest. Thankfully I only booked for a week and found a place a little cleaner for the remainder of his radiation treatments.

Parking was almost non existent. They have about 20-30 spots available, ideally for smart car size vehicles. Bad smell upon entering the hotel, even worse upon entering our room. Smelled like someone had smoked in it just previous. AC wasn't turned on so room was musty and hot. Bed sheets had stains on them. Everything felt dirty and the smell in the room and bathroom was nauseating. The bathroom didn't even have any handsoap. Being downtown there were homeless people everywhere outside, didnt feel safe. Thats obviously not the hotels fault but worth being aware of

We booked this name-brand hotel with a reasonable expectation of basic service, cleanliness, and professionalism. They failed.

We stayed three nights, and our room was not cleaned once. Not once over the entire stay. When we raised the issue, the staff were not helpful and did not properly resolve it. At a name-brand hotel, basic housekeeping should not be something guests have to chase or simply go without.

The parking lot for visitors is next to a drug consumption site that is frequented by junkies and addicts. It is littered with overdose kits.

Breakfast was also poorly managed. The pancake station was never working during our stay, even though the machine clearly indicated that it needed a refill. This was not some complicated repair issue. It looked like a simple service failure that staff either ignored or failed to manage.

The room itself had a strange mystery door. This was not the normal adjoining-room door we are familiar with from many other hotel stays. It appeared to be something different, and we were concerned enough that we blocked it with a chair.

The overall experience was unacceptable. No room cleaning for three nights, unsafe parking, poor staff response, neglected breakfast service, and a room feature that made us feel uneasy. This is exactly the kind of experience we book a known hotel brand to avoid.

We would not stay here again and would not recommend it.

Location was right downtown which was within a few metres of our outdoor event. Staff was very friendly and helpful and allowed us to park longer until the end of our event.

Not a bad hotel for a quick overnight stay. There was someone else’s shirt left hanging in the closet which questions what areas are being cleaned. The pillows are very tiny. But beside this, the room served its purpose.

The staff are very friendly. The location of the hotel is right in the heart of downtown Sudbury with vehicle parking across the street. The hotel is quite dated and is in need of some upgrades. I personally did not feel very safe and would not recommend walking around at night as there are a lot of homelessness in this area. The breakfast was decent however there is no bathroom in the lobby/breakfast area and i was allowed to use the staff bathroom. Beds were soft, decor dated but clean. the elevator had a funky smell. the fitness centre did not look appealing - only 2 machines that didnt look like they were properly maintained.

The elevator is very old and there is no use of stairs. The eggs in the complementary breakfast was similar to rubber. The curtains in the room do not cover the windows entirely and light shines through your room and may affect your sleep. Not a recommended hotel to stay at.

On our last night a couple checked into the room next to us. It was a connecting room so more sensitive to sound. It was 2am and they started yelling and partying. Between 2am and 4am we called the front desk twice. They called the room and that was it. They just laughed and continued partying also inviting two others to join. At 4am we packed up and left.
After we left I realized I forgot something in the room and when I went back, the front desk clerk told me that he kicked out the two visitors. Too bad that didn't happen when we called, twice. He didn't bother to walk up to the room to talk to them or even offer us a new room, he really didn't care. First and last time staying at this place.

The bed was comfortable and the room was clean but something was very wrong with the in-unit HVAC. There was cold air coming through the wall which meant that the heater turned on every 3 to 5 minutes and ran for 3 to 5 minutes until I turned it off and just bundled up for the night.

The room was clean and comfortable enough, but I’ve never seen one in such a poor state of repair, even in hotels much poorer than this. Cracked sink, holes in walls, missing lampshade, broken luggage stand… too long a list to include it all. And the room lacked many minor amenities that we’ve all come to expect, like a box of tissues, a drinking glass, or a USB outlet. The free breakfast is better than many I’ve had in fancier hotels, and the staff was friendly.

Everything form the attempt to access the lobby was just ok at best. I had my hands very full, the front desk attendant made no attempt to even look up from the computer (where they were eating) to see if I needed assistance), they could hear it was a struggle and no accessible entry button. I got the discount room without the discounted price, bulkhead stops the drapes from fully closing light shins tight in your eyes, drywall damaged, cracked sink (not leaking), bathtub drain so slow I accidentally closed it had to have someone come reopen it (they were fast but said your sending mixed signals with the do not disturb sign (it was up to stop housekeeping from waking in while I was showering or getting ready. This was a two night stay night two music so loud it kept my husband up most of the night (called front desk stoped momentarily but started again and very loud neighbor in the room next to me yelled waking me up, when I finally had enough I yelled pounded on their wall they quieted down. This used to be our go to hotel but after everything that happened this trip will be looking at some of the “nicer” hotels.

On September 26/27 I stayed at this BW. If you like curry, then you will enjoy walking into this hotel, as it is quite prevalent in the air. The room was very worn and needs updating. The bed was very comfortable. I did have an issue at the front desk. I came with a $500 limit card for my stay up north as my intent was to pay cash for my rooms. Instead of only holding the $100 deposit on my card they held the deposit and the cost of my stay for 2 nights. $325.80. As I was paying cash for my stay I immediately told them and unfortunately for me the holdback would not be released for 3-5 business days which I have yet to receive. I did ask immediately for it to be reversed and was told to wait for a manager in the morning. I stayed at a BW in North Bay on the 28th and only a $50 deposit was held. Beware and be sure the staff are clear when checking in.

Unfortunately this property is also in a part of town that has many unfortunate homeless.

We didn’t even stay but won’t be doesn’t look like we will be given our money back. Homeless and drug anddicts all around the property even living in the parking lot where we would park our truck. We decided it wasn’t safe to stay there and didn’t even want to get out of the truck but are being told that no refund will be issued. I am still trying to get reimbursed. Do not stay here. The area is totally unsafe.

Bad location, Right downtown, I believe opposite a homeless shelter. Lots of wanderers around the hotel. Hotel is old and dated. Staff worked hard, one lady working the front desk, doing laundry, all by herself. Hotel room was fine.
