While asleep around 11PM. I had a couple walk in to the room. They got in to the room with a key given to them by the hotel receptionist. You have to go to the receptionist everyday to get your room reassigned to you throughout your stay. That nice couple had been there for a few days already and had a few more days left to their reservation. So they walked in to the room that they had been assigned to for the reservation. To them it seemed like we were the intruders. Thankfully the nicest couple were willing to change rooms since they had just 2 backpacks cz they were visiting family during Diwali and had their big luggage with their family. The hotel had double booked one room and given 2 couples the same room key. The worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Staff has nothing to say about it. They couldn’t even admit their mistakes. No apologies from their side either.
Rooms look much nicer in pictures but it’s dirty in reality. Bathroom is dirty. It is spacious and location isn’t bad but I could’ve gotten way better hotel for similar price around the neighborhood. Staff is absolutely horrible. Receptionist lady was extremely slow and didn’t care about customers at all. They’d try to get until you raise your voice at them. I like to travel and have stayed in many hotels but this was hands down the worst one I had ever been to. I’d rather pay a little more and stay at other place.
I’d definitely NOT RECOMMEND this place to anyone. UNSAFE AND HYGIENIC. HORRIBLE STAFF AS WELL.

Very nice hotel, staff are friendly and so helpful. Only one thing I want them to improve is, please solve the problem paying by International Credit Card. This hotel was the only place I was declined to use my visa card (issued in Japan) during my stay in India. Other hotels and restaurants, I found no problems using the same card.

We stayed in two different hotels while in Delhi: City Star (when we arrived in India) and Le Roi (when leaving). Both were in the same location, but Le Roi was more expensive despite having much worse service:
- Bathroom wasn't as clean and it took more than 5min to get the water hot;
- We often had to ask for basic things (bathmat, two towels, etc)
- No fridge/minibar
- Very poor breakfast
In other words, there are better options.

Bathroom is slippery, room floor sticky, water in bathroom is smelly, Electric ofter black out, Cutlery not clean, Breakfast not worth the money. Room door key card was not giving upon check in. Wifi is poor maybe due to often black outs. Not recommended for women’s traveling alone. I will not stay there again.

The room was comfortable, spacious and cleaned thoroughly. Toiletries of body wash, hand soap and shampoo were provided. The housekeeping, reception and restaurant staff were courteous, friendly and helpful. After spending a bit too much time in the sun and subsequently feeling unwell, one of the restaurant servers was kind enough to inquire about why I had not come for dinner and insisted on sending up soup and a banana. His gesture made me feel very much at home during my first days in India

Hotel meant for hooligans and anti-socials

The location is shabby and dirty, being around the market place... The hospitality is extremely unprofessional and hostile... the reception staff deliberately charged me with a Rs 2lac+ credit card swipe. While I raised alarm and got them to void the transaction (which they did reluctantly), my credit card pin got compromised in the process. They have my ADHAAR card details and the possibility of misusing such information is not ruled out (even though I have kept my bank notified of any possible the security breach). They even tried to refuse me and my family (including 6 year old) the booked room and accepted the payments only in cash but did not provide me with a cash receipt or bill. The wifi is not free but chargeable... This hotel is meant for hooligans and anti-socials. Families out on vacation may please avoid.

Overall, extremely disappointing.
Dirty towels and no toilet roll on arrival. They said they were giving us a great room - it was very poor. The booking stated that it had a rainfall shower head and a jetted bath tub - neither of these were present. We had a cold tricklimg shower with almost no shower gel/shampoo. The area was dodgy and felt uncomfortable. When feeding back on the form at the end of the stay the staff member gave a half hearted apology but no re-imbursement or offer on any level. We will not be staying again.

I had to wait for 50 minutes to check in !! The reception desk said rooms were occupied, but no one checked out in the 50 mins i had waited there !! The rooms are way smaller than the photos suggest.The wooden flooring is all broken up...! There were no toiletries in the bathroom ...please carry your own bathing soap! The food i ordered was also disappointing, the wild mushroom soup had no mushroom in it ! The website mentions of a rollaway bed, however a mattress is put on the ground instead..! The staff also was unconcerned until we made a complaint.

Friendly staff!

The staff at Le Roi were very helpful, friendly, and even accommodated an extra night of stay before going to the airport! The breakfast was clean, delicious and very reasonably priced. The area is very busy though and on a small street though there are multiple shops and restaurants to eat at.

Only good thing about this hotel is possibility to sleep long time and well. Nice lines and good beds. Also it was mostly silent around.

Everything else is quite a joke. It is not clean in the room:floor bulbs almost everything. Bathroom is good though.
Quite a lot of cockroaches. One in fridge, and fridge is really dirty. Two came with housekeeping on request of new kettle, because original one doesn't work. Another one we found in bed with us and last but not least in closets.
AC very noisy.
Location is not good. It is safe, but dirty and very dusty. For the price they asking it is not worth it even with discount.
I would not recommend to stay not only in this hotel but also in Delhi.

Comfortable Inexpensive Hotel by Train Station

I usually stay a night in Delhi on my journey from USA to Rishikesh. I chose the Le Roi due to it's close proximity to the train station. The staff were lovely and helpful. I loved the busy market place and the vegetable market nearby. The room was quiet and air conditioned . What a blessing after a long , hot, journey.
I will recommend this hotel to my friends and definitely stay here again.

The hotel looks nice from the outside and everywhere inside besides the rooms. Staff seem friendly, albeit not the best.

Few problems, the room isn't as clean as one would expect looking at how the whole facility looks. Room seemed hastily cleaned as I got there. Floor wet but not actually clean. Linens slightly dirty. Bugs in various places.

Service is a little off, was ignored for minor problems, and I don't know how common it is here, but I was asked if I wanted a (can't directly say this word in a review) pr0stitute. Never happened before, strange interaction.

Hotel has a wonderful staff who understand the meaning of customer service even if it is located at an uneasy location. Hotels around are open just for stealing money but this hotel actually is value for money. We stayed here for 3 nights and not a single day we felt unsafe. Too good rooms with too good food. I happen to visit Hotel Le Roi in May of this year along with my family. I decided to spend couple of nights there. I must say that it turned out to be a great experience - the rooms were spacious and clean, with all basic amenities. Adding to that, what I really liked was the room service which was very professional - prompt, polite and caring.

Clean rooms, central localization.

Rooms, sheets and banyo is clean. There is safe and TV in the room. Localization not far away from touristik areas and quiet. Staff is Ok. You have a free ride to airport ( 10$) if you book from Expedia.
I recomend for this price range.

Had booked for 2 +1 persons for 3 days.On arrival initially we got a small room which did not have space for additional bed, and the rooms were not made. However on bringing to notice , the reception promptly gave another room. Initially they just gave the bed.. Requested reception again for a cot with Bed as we had payed for the additional Bed.Reception staff was very responsive and courteous to the requests.
The final room that we got was clean and spacious. The house keeping was impressive. Fresh Toiletries and Bed cover supplies everyday. Food was decent.
The place is close to railway station and there is a Delhi metro station nearby .It is one of the cleanest and well maintained hotels in Paharganj area .
Great Value for money and you get very economic room rates if you book online.

We checked in quite late (9pm) and just wanted to have a quick shower, change and eat. Well that would have been fine if there was any hot water, which of course there was not.... After several attempts but us, the person who checked us in and maintenance men, no hot water, change of rooms, still no hot water and in the morning, NO HOT WATER.

The man at reception had the balls to tell us hot water was coming, AFTER we'd checked out!

In their defence they did give us free airport transfer but that will never encourage us to stay at Hotel Le Roi again.

Along with power, air con and other issues, including very ordinary breakfast, No thanks!

Checking-in was terrible.

Employee doesn't knew room status. First sent us to a room which was already occupied.
Second room wasn't cleaned up.
Finally he gave 3rd room, which was ready to move in.
You have to ask for wi-fi login password. Could only connect 1 device. It didn't work in my second tablet. finally quit on it.
Breakfast wasn't ready until 8.00 even though they said available from 7 AM. My little was hungry as he was still on US timings.
At time of payment, I was told credit card machine wasn't working (don't think so, staff was reluctant to use it). Had to pay cash forcefully as I had limited Indian currency.

I got to know Muzzamil and javed. They were excellent in the hospitality industry.

The hotel is great and pretty central in Delhi. I'd stay at this hotel if I were interested in staying at paharganj. If you don't care about staying at PHJ, then don't stay here.

Was wary when the taxi stopped at this hotel but this is my first time in India. I did not fully realise the culture shock I would experience .the street at the entrance to the hotel might at first put you off .I don't think the road is even tarmacked . But put that aside! when you walk into this hotel it is as near westernised as can be . You feel safe and that is just how the Indians are in that area.the hotel is clean the breakfast is well sufficient ! the rooms cleaned daily and the ensuite is clean and does not smell .I had room at front and yes you did hear street noise during the day .But if you go to bed as I did between 11 and midnight most of the noise had quietened down and I slept ok .Except for Sunday when the Hari Kristna's paraded past at 6 in the morning .The hotel restaurant catered for me beautifully and catered for my every need I was wary of getting the dreaded 'Delhi Belly' so I stayed with the hotel restaurant throughout my stay and my 'Belly' fortunately was 100% By the way I can recommend their Indian red wine called four seasons I had a few bottles of it .Yes I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to the British traveller.

Good basic hotel in the middle of a bustling area.

Hotel Roi is good & clean with friendly, helpful staff. We had a room at the front so there was some street noise but it was fun to sit at the open window & watch the bustling street below. If you want something quieter ask for a room off the street. I'd recommend this hotel if you want to stay in paharganj.

Good hotel with affordable price but let down by

Me and my partner checked in around 23.45 hours. The senior receptionist was too occupied with a regular client, we were standing with the voucher patiently but he did not even acknowledge. Then I told him about our booking and we were advised to seat. We were waiting patiently for 10 minutes at midnight and he did not have the courtesy also to feel our situation. We already informed before that, we were coming from Chandigarh but no use.
We got the room, room was nice but centrally AC was not effective, had to make almost 4 calls then someone came and informed that it will be effective in 15 minutes.
We ordered for some simple food....tawa roti and sabzi. The room service person informed us , it will take 30 minutes. It indeed take 30 minutes just for this simple meal and then the roti was not eatable. Next morning we went down to reception for the breakfast and we were informed that we have to pay Rs.250/ each, though we paid for a room with breakfast. I advised and then the same senior receptionist took 5 minutes and at last confirmed that our package includes breakfast. The breakfast was okey. At the time of check out again the lady receptionist was horrible. I asked for a print out and she took my pendrive, both the reception computer could not recognise the same. The she said if it was in mail then I can access Business centre, I went there but there was no internet connection. Some one came almost after 10 mts after I brought the same in her notice.

Ok hotel for the surrounding area

We were there for 3 days and each day I had to get my key reactivated and a new wireless password. This was a bit frustrating... Breakfast was included in our room rate, however 2 of the 3 days, most food was gone by 9 & it was not replenished. I will say that the price was great, but we should have surged and stayed somewhere in New Dehli.

The room was nice, they stayed open late for check in, didn't have any problems with the staff, and had free internet. I'd come back here for a rest and to clean up a bit, but otherwise, booking over the internet is a bit pricey. It's an easy walk from anywhere in Paharganj, or a short ride to New Delhi Station, but the area itself is a pain in the bum. In short, I'd stay there again, but in other parts of the country, I'd say the room would be worth Rs. 1500 rather than a bit over Rs. 2000.

Stayed at Le Roi during transit to an International flight. Arrived via train at New Delhi station and took off the same evening. The hotel was nice and in fact the room was a pleasant surprise in terms of its cleanliness. It was bit of a hike waking from the train station (with one roller on wheeled over uneven streets) but the location overall is great. Short distance from Connaught Place!! Stay worked out very well, and will not hesitate to go back again.

Clean central Hotel but quiet enough

The rooms are great, big and clean. Generally the staff is friendly, breakfast is good and the area is a good location for everything. The travel desk guy wasn't super friendly and he overcharged us for the Agra taxi as we found out later - especially since the main mission of the driver was to sell us additional services such as a guide, lunch etc. Better to shop around or book in the official tourism office (!!!!!, don't trust anyone but your guide book and insist to be taken to the correct address!).
Generally a solid hotel, always a smile and super clean.

Excellent for price

A budget hotel, we paid around £30 per night including breakfast and were pleasantly surprised.
Stylish room decor, piping hot water around the clock. Breakfast was hot Indian food, eggs cooked to order, fruit, toast, cereal etc
Free wifi, tea & coffee making facilities in the room and a safe in the wardrobe.
The downside was that the bathroom smelt of damp. The room had some staining on the walls where they had some damp issues.
The room was reasonable in terms of cleanliness, towels and bedding changed every day. Some areas could have been cleaner, like around light switches etc.
View from window was more or less straight into someone's house so we kept the curtains closed.
Overall it was good value for money and if we were staying in the area again we would use this hotel.

Good location in Pahar Ganj.

This was our second stay at the Le Roi, the first being last September. I think we liked it a bit less this time than we did before, although it was still fine. We ended up in the same room as before and it was clean and comfortable. The bed and pillows were wonderful, a real treat after six months traveling through India. All the lights worked. We were surprised, however, when we were told that the air conditioning wasn't connected. We ate the buffet breakfast twice and were fine with the food but the tea was murky and tasted as if it had been rewarmed for days. We also had dinner at the Le Roi and ate mediocre food while listening to bizarre multinational elevator music. Despite the Le Roi's location, the outside noise was not much of a problem. Inside, there was a hammering all day and into the evening, as there seemed to be some sort of construction going on. Also as to the Le Roi's location, it's within walking distance to restaurants in Connaught Place as well as to closer eateries in the neighborhood. At first glance, especially when arriving late at night, Pahar Ganj appears quite seedy, but in daylight that impression largely dissipates. Still, it's a poor neighborhood and the Le Roi definitely outshines it.

I arrived at New Delhi station after dark and the tuktuk driver had a very hard time finding the hotel. It would help to know that R.K. Ashram is the closest subway station - and a short pedicab ride away. The room and the hotel staff were very good. Of course, it is in Paharganj. Most guests were French speaking.

Not too bad.

Good hotel, all things considering. The area is not that great. The inside is quite nice, with the odd forgotten garbage or the half-done rennovation obvious here & there. The room was equiped with a thermostat, which spat out cold air when turned on even when 'heating' was indicated. The temperature reading was 20°Ceven though the hotel felt colder than a hotel room should feel.
In general some things need to be ironed out here and there but the hotel is not bad overall. Would visit again.

Definitely value for money!

Overall, I had a very pleasant stay at the Hotel Le Roi. The receptionists were all helpful, informative and courteous (especially when helping to organise airport transfers which had to be changed a number of times due to Air India rescheduling) and all the waiting staff were extremely pleasant. The Hotel is modern, offering well decorated, large rooms with clean and spacious bathrooms. The food on offer in the restaurant is of a very good standard - all of the dinner dishes that we ordered were tasty and there is a wide selection of breakfast foods. There is also complimentary Wi-Fi for all of the Facebook lovers out there.

On the downside, the hotel is in a slightly questionable area (almost a bit out of place). Connaught Place is about 2km away but the walk isn't too nice (with bits of pavement missing which my mum struggled with). You could quite easily get a taxi or a rickshaw though. There was also the constant sound of construction but that's not unlike the rest of India really!

Lovely helpful staff. Very comftable clean rooms, .Breakfast good.

Stayed one night as travelling to Agra following morning.

Only downfall was the road hotel was situated in,

Road was being dug up at the time, so very dusty outside and hotel not in the best area !!.

Hotel arranged taxi for us to get to Agra,allthough this was a bit pricey, would not trust getting taxi's independantly,

Decent hotel, but...

We stayed here for three nights (4 adults in 2 rooms) and we have mixed reviews. When we booked the hotel while in US, we did not knew about some ongoing City sewer maintenance work. The entrance to the hotel was teriible with dust and potholes. Once you get inside, the hotel decor and the room size are OK. The heater inside the rooms did not work properly. The hotel staff had trouble finding an appropriate socket to plug the space heater. So, we stayed ALL nights without proper heater facilities. Bathrooms are decent, but shower areas could be better. Wi-fi was decent enough, but it was a pain to activate it everytime you want to use it. When a guest is staying at a hotel for 3 nights, why not give them a wi-fi passcode that works for all 3 nights. The password expiration every 24 hours sucked. Perhaps, it's a security issue. The hotel staff are helpful and nice, but the hotel surroundings are not so great. I could only find 1 medical shop in the street and could not find a second one even after walking 4-5 blocks. I guess, you get what you paid for.

Stayed in over a dozen hotels in Delhi in over 30 years ...one of the best for this price but could easily be in danger of becoming just another run down hotle in Pharaganj if cleanliness standards are not being met as cleaning of rooms is kept to basics whilst not paying attention to wiping down walls/floors/tiles and under furniture etc..

The quality of the hotel was very good: much better than it looked from the outside. But service was patchy, and we have paid twice: once to Expedia, and once at the front desk. We are currently trying to resolve this issue.
