Grotty at best. A room that was like a dungeon. Noise from rooms above and pillows that lived their useful lives decades ago. Restaurant in evening with the most miserable waitress/receptionist ever. Theres a lovely restaurant next door, go there . Breakfast was a shock as it was actually the only decent thing. Left feeling grubby

Decent low cost hotel near the A10

Check in left a lot to be desired - with the receptionist continuing a personal phone call and ignoring me for over 5 mins. Not what you need at 11pm when you have been driving for 12hrs. Also the property advertises itself as pet friendly- but there is a €10 surcharge per pet. Other than that the room was clean, the bed was good and it’s in a convenient location

Have used this hotel several times over the years. Was very disappointed by person manning reception. Seemed untutored in this role and spoke no English which might have made some difference. Place really needs a facelift. Outside the rooms waste bins overflowing and no effort to tidy the area. Room just ok. Breakfast poor for the cost. Will never be back to it.

a very pleasant one night stop over ideally situated for us. Pleasant and friendly staff. Enjoyed an evening meal and breakfast the following morning. Both of us had a good nights sleep and found the bed very comfortable. Easy free on site parking. Would stay again.

Unfriendly receptionist. The room was basic, but adequate for an overnight stay. Decor and general.condition looks tired. A large bunch of black hair stuck to my foot, so the room cannot have been swept. This makes us wonder whether the other hygiene protocols were adhered to.

Good service from staff, very well situated and great if you have pet and want to keep a close eye on your car. Rooms are a little noisy and in need of some modernization, but was is important is this hotel seems to be one of the few where they do have staff after 11pm so if you are going to arrive late its worth using them because a lot of the other hotels are simply shut up after 11pm which is a killer after a 6 hour drive from the Channel ports!

A wee note to suggest exterior of hotel needs care

Everything was fine room clean, bathroom clean with good hot water shower, just a wee bitty cramped. Unfortunately the exterior of the building is badly in need of maintenance especially the stairs to the 1st floor, plus lighting on them very dim. Staff were very friendly and efficient.

This is not what you actually see on arrival, this is the entrance to the restaurant.
The whole property was old and very scruffy in need of paint and repairs.
I complained about my room at the front and was given another at the rear which was an improvement, but certainly not my standard.
Bed was comfy shower was great and towels were white and fluffy.

An adequate overnight stop

This is a run of the mill motel and the exterior is in need of some TLC. The rooms are clean but small with the minimum of services. There is a TV with just French channels, a kettle and one each of coffee and tea sachets. The towels in the bathroom were barely adequate in size and ours appeared to be damp and most inefficient in drying bodies. The restaurant was good but there was no explanation of the dishes in English. I know this sounds parochial but it is unusual these days not to have English sub-titles on menus and at least one or two English speaking channels on the television.

We've stayed here quite often on our trips south. It's easy to get to from motorway, it has friendly, polite staff, the restaurant food is good, all in all, it's a good value for money hotel. Clean room. The only annoying thing for us this time was the arrival of a coach load of Portuguese people at midnight who thought nothing about shouting/door slamming/running around for over an hour with no consideration for those of us trying to sleep ..... this is not the hotel's fault!!!

Saintes, worth a stop-over.

We visited Saintes on the way south many years ago and thought it worth a further look. We enjoyed our return look at it but the Campanile is a fair evening stroll into Saintes and unfortunately it was Monday and we couldn't find a restaurant open in the centre. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our visit looking at the architecture, amphi-theatre and the Roman arch as well as the river.

The Campanile is very handy for the big hypermarket across the road and we were able to get cheap petrol, water and picnic necessities there for our journey south.

Our welcome wasn't the best as they didn't have any record of our pre-paid Expedia booking😧 but with persistence it was sorted out and the rest of the visit was good.

Good hotel for those on way to La Rochelle or Arca

Reception was fine. Older style Campanile with external walkways. Most others I have seen have more contemporary enclosed corridors so rooms are less exposed to road noise. External fittings could do with some paint and a freshen up. Quiet enough with shutter down.

Have stayed in this hotel before and as of previous visits I found it satisfactory. Room clean and comfortable with a very comfortable bed. Wifi in room easy to connect to. Breakfast was standard continental fare and was OK. We had dinner too but that was poor and cost as much a going to a restaurant in Saintes. Handy for the autoroute and a HyperU for shopping and good priced fuel.

Good for stopovers and visiting Saintes

The Campanile Group provides a cheap (for France) reliable stop-over for couples and families, offering small but clean en-suite rooms and comfortable beds plus plenty of free parking. Think upmarket Travelodge. It had a bath/shower and good air conditioning. This location was opposite a nice Boulangerie and just down the road from a hypermarket which had a cafeteria providing a continental breakfast for two for less then €7. Don't bother with the Campanile Restaurant, there are better quality and cheaper options in Saintes.

Convenient location for major road links and good parking. Very good breakfasts - plenty of variety. Our hotel room was warm and functional. There was no hairdryer as advertised in the room and a small fridge would have been useful. Overall we thought the hotel was good value for money.

Buffet had less choice than our previous experiences with this group, and I'm afraid our choice of lamb chops proved to be a bit too tough for NHS teeth! We would use this hotel again as Saintes is a convenient stopping-off point for our fairly frequent journeys further south.

The hotel was well located and signposted. The room was scrupulously clean, staff where not bi-lingual were helpful & patient. But the language barrier French - English I feel may be expoited - in the restaurant, an English couple beside us had to query their meal bill which incorrectly charged two drinks which were free on surrender of a coupon. We ordered a €14.90 meal, but were charged for each dish individually, at €7 more, and had to ask for the voucher drinks to be discounted.
On checking out, we were asked to pay for the room again by the English-speaking clerk, even though our Expedia voucher was very clear. Fortunately my French is good and all errors were very politely remedied, but it makes one think...........
