Even though I don’t think it was intentional our check-in was a bit off putting. The air conditioning or fan didn’t work, quite stuffy so we had to leave windows open all night. Only one low pillow, found this uncomfortable even though bed comfortable. Carpets quite stained. Breakfast was 27CHF ($46 AUD each) felt this was very expensive. Pleased there was plenty of free parking. Easy walk into town centre.

Reception asked if we wanted advice on where to eat, we declined but we only found one restaurant open as most places are closed on Mondays.
Mercure has a bar but was closed.
Mercure has a restaurant but was closed.
The next morning we were asked if we enjoyed are stay and said yes but room was very hot. We were then told air-con will not be installed until end of 2023. Not impressed.

Not worth the price you pay for

Hotel was going under renovation when visited and it was a bit messy. Rooms were just OK but didn't feel comfortable. Breakfast was basic. But for this price you expect far far far more. Wouldn't stay again. Not the quality you pay for.

Great place except in the height of summer

It is a very nice hotel with boutique character in spite of actually bei g a ski resort. My only complaint is that they do not have air condition. When we arrived at 19:00, the room was at 30 degrees C and after having the wi diese wide open all night it dropped only to 27 C.
During three seasons, this is not going to be problem but if they want to keep hosting g summer guests then they will have to invest in A/C.

We were very happy with our stay at Hôtel Aux Remparts in Fribourg. It is a very good value for money. The quality of the bed and the pillows (the most important thing for me) was excellent, with real down pillows. Room was large, clean and quiet, with more than enough space for our luggage; the TV had several English channels.

We really enjoyed this hotel. Our room was spacious and accomodated our family very nicely. The location, just outside the ramparts, is actually very convenient with free parking and easy access. Our only complaint was that it was very hot and there was only one small fan for the entire room. That said, it was a beautiful room.

Enjoyable - and somewhat unique

Fairly small and fancy, somewhat \"boutique\"-ish hotel in easy walking distance to the heart of Fribourg. Easy to get to by car. we enjoyed a fast and effcient check-in, superb breakfast buffet and an amazingly room facing away from the road. Rooms are nicely decorated and quite comfy, although a bit warm on this hot summer day. There are variuos fees due upon checkin and checkout, but overall a good price performance ratio. Recommended!

Good hotel in Fribourg. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Decor was inviting. I would only ding them very slightly for having no air conditioning which could be a problem during the warm Swiss summers, but no other hotel in Fribourg has air conditioning either. It has a claim on being the best hotel in town.

Great hotel setting and rooms were of a good standard. We paid for 3 suites, however were only given 1 suite, and two standard rooms - however as of yet the hotel has not responded to three attempts at resolving this issue. The hotel only has very limited parking on the grounds, so you basically need to park on the street. Shame for the lack of response from the hotel, as otherwise it was a good experience.

I picked the hotel based on reviews on hotel.com. When I left I dropped my house keys in the parking lot. When I got home and discovered that I didn't have them, I called the hotel. They had found the keys and put them in the mail immediately. I was very grateful for their attention and consideration.

The weather during our stay was very hot and the hotel is not air conditioned due to zoning laws and the ecology minded Swiss. If I was visiting again in the summertime, I would seek out a hotel at least ten years older when air conditioning was permitted. Otherwise I would stay at this hotel again at other times of the year.

MUST HAVE A CAR

Admittedly, I visited this hotel on the worst possible day. It was August 15, a day which all of Switzerland (including all shops, stores, and most restaurants) takes off. In addition, it was a very, very hot day (the hotel has no air conditioning...although each room is furnished with an adequate fan to make the heat tolerable). The description on this site is quite accurate. It is a 15 SF ride from the railway station and has no food service. Naturally, I was famished when I reached the hotel, and they directed me on a \"5-7 minute\" walk which turned out to be 15-20 minutes to the nearest restaurant. My guess: about 3/4 of a mile. But that was the main district for restaurants, and there was quite a choice (even though many of them were closed because of the holidays). The rooms were actually larger than I expected (and very modern, well furnished, and clean), and the service at the desk was superb. It would have been a GREAT value for the money if I did not have to add in the 30 SF in taxi fares to/from the train station.

Quiet hotel in Fribourg

The hotel is on the edge of the town centre (just outside the old town walls. A 5 or 10 minute walk gets you to local restaurants and bars - OK when the weather is nice, but possibly a nuisance if it is wet and cold. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant of its own.

Room was generally comfortable and overlooked a playing field and the town walls. Nice and quiet. There was no air conditioning in the room, but a fan was provided - it was quite hot when I was there!

The hotel was easy enough to find though some construction work made the route from the motorway a little more difficult than it should have been.

A reasonable continental breakfast was available.

Quiet restful hotel

Om du er glad likegyldige og uoppmerksomme resepsjonister, spise frokost til 650 kr, varme soverom som det ikke er mulig å få under 20 grader, liker kirkeklokker som ringer kontinuerlig gjennom hele natten bare meter fra rommet ditt, liker trafikk fra gaten som ligger ved hotellet, og ikke minst liker buldring og bråk fra anleggsmaskiner utenfor rommet ditt (regner dessverre med at det er forbipasserende) kl 06.30 om morgenen, ja, da er dette hotellet noe for deg. J'aime beaucoup le confort de cette chaîne d'hôtel, néanmoins, j'ai choisi une chambre supérieure avec un grand lit avec une majoration du prix bien sûr, l'hôtel a attribué une chambre qui n'était pas de cette catégorie.
Sinon la chambre était plutôt propre bien qu'il restait de petits morceaux de tissus sur la moquette, pas super propre, et un rafraichissement de la peinture serait nécessaire au vu des nombreuses traces noires sur les murs.
Le buffet du petit-déjeuner est très bien.

Das Hotel liegt direkt an der Stadtmauer von Frybourg. Die Innenstadt lässt sich fussläufig in 10 Minuten erreichen.
Ich habe bei meiner Ankunft ein Upgrade erhalten. Das Zimmer war ca. 30 qm gross und
in angenehmen Farben eingerichtet. Das Frühstücksbuffet entspricht der Üblichkeit.
Insgesamt habe ich mich sehr wohl gefühlt und empfehle das Hotel gerne weiter.

Cependant, ça sentait les égouts dans ma chambre; on m'a donné une chambre adjacente qui sentait moins mais qui sentait tout de même. Je ne retournerai pas pour une autre raison: il n'y avait ni cafetière ni bouilloire dans la chambre (et pas de crème pour le corps aussi).

Très bel hôtel. Séjour agréable.

Très bel hôtel situé à quelques pas de ruines des ramparts de la ville. Très bel chambre et service impeccable.
Par contre l'eau de la douche reste tiède même au réglage le plus chaud.
Aussi accès un peu difficile à partir de la gare de Fribourg si vous voyagez avec des valises. Dans ce cas il serait préférable de prendre le bus ou un taxi jusqu'à l'hôtel.

Séjour de trois nuits ds cet hôtel.
Accueil très sympathique, l hôtel est calme , même en étant au bord de la route.
La chambre est spacieuse, la salle de bain grande est très propre.
