The breakfast was amazing and so was the staff. It is a beautiful facility and Maximo went out of his way to help us with a car issue. It was our best and most luxurious stay of our trip!

The property is good and has a character. Well maintained over all. The pool is not for swimming and was dirty.
We got the premium suite and it was not only over charged but also had poor AC.
Breakfast was fine.
You cannot walk anywhere from the property. No activities within itself either.

We had a wonderful stay. The place was immaculate, beautifully maintained, and truly one of our favorite accommodations in Italy. Although it was a bit farther from Montepulciano, Pienza, and Montalcino, it was absolutely worth the drive. Its proximity to Siena made it a perfect base, and we genuinely enjoyed every moment of our stay.

Lovely hotel. The views are spectacular - the sunsets are unreal. Great amenities and beautiful property.

The staff were amazing. Helpful, friendly and always available.

Room was comfortable and clean.

Finally, located close to Siena with loads of dinner options in town. That said, one might we ate at the restaurant and the food was great.

This is a nice place away from the crowds. You are surrounded by hills which makes for beautiful scenery. Siena is about a 25 minute curvy drive if you do not choose to eat at their restaurant. Extracurricular activities are limited to the pool. The room was spacious but the air conditioning struggled to keep the room cool in the 95 degree weather making it somewhat uncomfortable at night. This is a good location for relaxing and quiet.

We stayed here for a few nights. The rooms look beautiful on the according the the photos. The room that we had was very basic with the bare essentials. The bathroom had an old piece of metal resembling a hub cap to hod the toiletries. nothing special about the room. The restaurant was nice the food good.

Excellent service - food in the restaurant was fantastic and not overly priced. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were welcoming and personable.

Perfect for a couple of nights to relax and unwind. There are spa facilities available but we didn’t use them. However the pool area is ideal for a day in the sun.

Beautiful hill-top hotel in the heart of Tuscany!

A beautifully restored hill-top castle (think grand house rather than fortress) in the Tuscany countryside, about 20 minutes easy drive from the historic centre of Siena.

Staff are super-friendly, rooms are very comfortable and all-round facilities of a good standard.

And right outside the door is an unmade road which along which you can walk along the ridge (as we did on our first day) to the village of Mucigliani and soak up the fantastic views as you do...it's no exaggeration to say that you really can see for miles!

I am ashamed to confess that my spoken Italian is very poor but despite this and with the help of the staff we had a great stay and managed to organise cups of tea (with cold milk!) at all hours.

Only thing to watch is that you need to get to breakfast relatively early as choice becomes limited as the service goes on.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Leonina though, a truly lovely hotel.

Idyllic property, charming but small/dark rooms.

The hotel is great overall, great staff and beautiful property and views.

The only problem are the rooms (standard rooms), which are quite small and dark and in some areas there is a bad odour. However, the staff was extremely helpful in sorting us out and moving us to another room.

Good spot to explore Tuscany

Lovely staff and service in a beautiful building and surrounding area. Very secluded if you want to get away from it all. The onsite restaurant is of good quality as well.

The rooms could do with a little more sound-proofing, as it was possible to hear everything that goes on in your neighbour's room. They seemed to enjoy the visit very much. A bar would also have been a nice option, even though it's possible to ask reception for any drink requirements and they will happily provide.

Absolutely perfect!

We read a lot of reviews and finally decided on stay at Castello di Leonina based on what we read and were not disappointed - the property is stunning. Dinners on the veranda were the highlights during our stay; the food was excellent. Breakfasts were full of fresh pastries, fruits, yogurts, meats and eggs. Rooms are beautifully appointed and clean. The staff is attentive and courteous. Look forward to returning!

Romantic, beautiful setting in an old castle

The hotel is located in a very lovely secluded setting with a classic Tuscany landscape.. The restaurant has a creative chef and there were both traditional Tuscany offerings and delicious creative dishes. The staff is very helpful with a good sense of humor. The swimming pool was very inviting.

Peaceful and relaxing, the hotel is situated in an old castle not far from Siena. It's well away from any main roads and the hilltop location gives you great views across the surrounding countryside. Also look out for the wonderful outdoor dining in the evenings.

Perfect honeymoon retreat!

An absolutely beautuful setting 1km off the main road, high up on a hill with the most amazing views of Tuscany. Perfect as part of our honeymoon trip. The staff were excellent. Outside dining in the evening with the view was spectacular. Having a car is essential for getting around the area as its very secluded. We got upgraded to a beautiful suite with period decor. The only down point was the air conditioning unit - it wasn't very strong. Also if you like your swimming there was no pool, just a dipping pond.

PERFECT Tuscan experience!

An absolutely incredible stay. This is a stunning 12th century castle on top of a Tuscan hill, completely restored to be as pristine as it was back then, but with commodities for the modern human. Wifi, great food, and hospitality were wonderful during my stay! I went there for 2 night sin mid-May to work as a photographer for a gorgeous wedding. It was a IMPECCABLE and I can't wait to go back for a pleasure trip soon! Great staff, a nice pond like pool, 20 minutes form Siena, with incredible sunsets... LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

A medium well stay

Beautiful area. We were there for a wedding. The wedding went very well. Well organized and well served. Our room was the tower suite. The suite needs more decoration otherwise the downstairs is not welcoming at all. We didn't spend even a minute downstairs so it was a waste and the upstairs doesn't have much space so the suite really was not a good choice. Be aware that the wifi almost doesn't exist at the uphill.

Lovely ... remote ... hotel

This hotel was lovely. Beautiful hotel and grounds in the gorgeous, pristine Tuscan countryside. We had a junior suite, which was a good size with a very interesting lay-out. The room was immaculately clean. The restaurant was quite good. And, the staff was exceptionally helpful, especially the reception staff who went out of their way to book dinners and even called the car rental company to help us with our rental return (a special thank you to Valentina!). The drawbacks were the A/C did not really work, which was ok with the windows open (but lots of bugs), there was only one outlet available (in the bathroom), and it is indeed remote (which means that if you want dinner, you'll need to eat at the hotel or venture out on the winding roads at night for at least a 30 minute drive). But, these drawbacks are really minimal. We'd happily stay at Castello di Leonina Relais again!

Wonderful Surprise Near Siena!

Our first time booking on Hotels.com and we trusted this location for our long awaited trip to Italy. We were impressed by the description and photos on the website and took a chance. WE LOVED THIS PLACE! The drive was really not so bad, conveniently located between Rome and Tuscany. We stayed 2 nights and wish we had stayed longer. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The rooms were quaint, clean and very comfortable. The Restaurant was wonderful for dinner and the breakfast was far more than we expected with plentiful options.The terrace and pool were a wonderful surprise of a gorgeous Tuscan view. What a location

What a stunning location with some of best views of the region. The hotel itself was amazing and very helpful staff. The dinner was on the veranda overlooking the stunning views watching the sun go down over the hills. The food was again amazing and great selection of vino. Overall can't fault the hotel and the fact it was the summer residence of pope Alexandra VII.

Leonine Discovery.

It's very simple. Next time I go to Tuscany this is the place I'll go to. The views are spectacular. The pool is a little far from the hotel according to some but for me it is perfect. I've seen other places, other resorts but there is so much peace here that I don't want to anywhere else.

É inconcepibile, per la tipologia e le potenzialità di una così bella struttura, l’esperienza che abbiamo vissuto io e la mia compagna. Al nostro arrivo alle 14:30 la reception era chiusa (e lo sarebbe stato anche la notte) giustificandosi con fatto che la struttura avesse riaperto il giorno del nostro arrivo. Ma il fatto gravissimo é che a dicembre non può mai esistere che il riscaldamento sia spento/rotto (non abbiamo chiuso occhio tutta la notte, oggi siamo raffredatissimi entrambi), che dal lavandino il rubinetto dell’acqua calda non faccia sgorgare nemmeno una goccia d’acqua e che (fatto sicuramente meno insormontabile dei precedenti ma non per questo giustificabile) che la spa fosse tutta scassata (almeno quella non ci é stata addebitata per ovvi motivi, essendo usciti dopo 20 minuti trascorsi a imprecare). Un’esperienza terribile!

Nos fue mal con la cena creemos que al Maitre solo habla Italiano por lo que la comunicación es muy difícil esperamos 1 hora y 38 minutos y no llegó nuestra orden así que cancelamos y quedamos sin cenar el resto del servicio fue exelente el aseo y el desayuno

Ho prenotato questa struttura fidandomi delle foto e delle recensioni, ma é stata una delusione, la camera duluxe prenotata brutta e non come nelle foto, piastrelle rotte, doccia piccola scrostata e in plastica….unica nota positiva, hanno accettato di rimborsarmi una notte e siamo andati via prima!

Una location davvero incantevole ideale chi vuole fuggire dal caos della città e trascorrere un week end all’insegna del relax e del buon cibo oltre che buon vino,immersi in un’atmosfera magica che la Toscana ci regala con i suoi paesaggi pittoreschi.Abbiamo apprezzato il ristorante che propone una cucina di alto livello con piatti della vera tradizione toscana ma con un tocco di modernità nell’impiattamento.Il servizio curato e professionale.Di positivo:

Seul véritable intérêt de ce relais hôtel est son emplacement fantastique sur les hauteurs des crêtes de sienne. Sinon les chambres sont relativement basiques. Personnel prévenant toutefois. Très bon accueil pour motard. Attention pas de restauration à proximité immédiate sauf à réserver dans le restaurant de l’hôtel.

Die Bilder bei expedia und auch der webside des Hotels suggerieren geräumige, helle, gut ausgestattete Zimmer. Die Realität sieht anders aus: dunkles, kleines Zimmer. Verrostete Armaturen im Bad und das besondere \"Highlite\": die Toilettenspülung.
Weiterhin funktionierte der Fahrstuhl nicht.

Un établissement qui n'est pas à la hauteur de ses étoiles. Notre chambre familiale sentait mauvais, était sombre, très petite pour 3, la climatisation disfonctionnait, la salle de bain était vetuste. Les petits dejeuners assez basiques avec un jus d'oranges en concentré. Bref, une déception quant à nos attentes d'un lieu d'exception comme le site le laisse espérer

Nous n’avons pu obtenir la chambre réservée
-suite junior, vue piscine- donc chambre de catégorie inférieure car il n’y avait pas de chambre disponible (deux nuits) inacceptable
mais tout était payé. Arrivée dimanche, il y avait un mariage, vu le niveau sonore pas de possibilité de profiter sereinement de la piscine et restaurant fermé le soir ! Hôtel à 14 kilomètres d’Asciano.
Taille des chambres : pas conforme au site. Quand un couloir fait le tour de la salle de bains sur 2 côtés, cela réduit la surface de la chambre.
Petit-déjeuner en salle. Très moyen. Des fruits oui mais des oranges et des kiwis
C’est dommage, le paysage est sublime

Estávamos em Lua de Mel e nos hospedamos por 2 dias no hotel.
Desejávamos aquela experiencia da toscana em um castelo e explorar as cidades próximas.
O hotel realmente é muito bonito e aconchegante, vista maravilhosa e café da manhã muito gostoso.
Nosso único desconforto foi com relação ao quarto, achei o quarto pequeno, mas já sabia quando fiz a reserva e o WiFi não funcionava direito no quarto, mas o principal fato foi que como o hotel e antigo tive muito problema referente ao cheiro do quarto muito forte, o que me atacou desde o inicio a minha rinite e me prejudicou no momento de dormir.
Ponto positivo para o banheiro, grande e confortável e para restaurante do hotel, vale a pena reservar uma mesa para jantar e tomar um bom vinho.
A área da piscina era muito bonita mas não conseguimos usar pelo tempo.

Fantastisk utsikt från restaurangen och poolen. Bra mat och service på restaurangen.

Servicen på övrig personal kunde ha varit bättre, det skulle inte skada med ett leende tex.
Frukosten var under all kritik. Frukost erbjöds fram till 10.30, men när vi kom dit kl 9 hade de slutat att fylla på med mat.
Rummet som vi hade bokat skulle enligt informationen på hotels.com vara 18m2, men vi fick ett rum som var 14m2.
Samtliga rum på hotellet stank fotsvett.
Luftkonditioneringen fungerade inte alls bra.
