This hotel was the best on our recent trip,to Italy. Giacomo and Lorenzo and all the staff were very accommodating and made you feel like a part of their family. The breakfast buffet offered many choices. The hotel,is just outside the walls of Siena so it’s very quiet at night. When I go back to Italy, I plan on staying there again!

We had a lovely visit to Palazzo di Valli. The location is just gorgeous - about a 1.5 km walk to the Campo inside the walls of Siena. The breakfast was wonderful - we looked forward to it every morning. The managers Lorenzo and Giacomo were so kind and accommodating - even when we had a very unexpected late check-in. The only hiccup was driving into the gate for the first time - it is very narrow and we were worried about our rental car not fitting. But turns out it fit just fine and we had no further issues. Thank you for a lovely stay!

We loved our stay here. It’s a special property and inn. The hosts Lorenzo and Giacomo are so kind and helpful. They also can be trusted on restaurant recommendations. We found the food in Siena to be amazing.
The daily breakfasts are excellent with fresh ingredients and many choices.
The setting and views could not be better.
As you’d expect at a property this old, the rooms are small but the room was comfortable and had great amenities- the mattress, sheets and towels were all high quality.

This property was amazing. The staff was so incredibly professional, nice, helpful and friendly. I can’t say enough of how nice they were. The views from this property were amazing rolling Hills of Tuscany and the weather was rainy so I just could imagine how beautiful it would’ve been with the sunshine. There were probably 5060 olive trees on the property. It’s a long driveway very narrow. The hotel is quaint. The breakfast was amazing each morning. Oh my Lord the breakfast was so good. You can’t go wrong at this property if you’re going to Sienna, you must stay here.

Parking is nice and free, but the gate may be too narrow for a large car. Google maps miss the place a little, so I recommend to arrive during the daylight hours

Lovely hotel! It was formerly a palace of a wealthy family and has been beautifully updated while retaining its charming character- tiled floors, windows with shutters which we opened to the breeze, and our room had a frescoed ceiling over the bed. It is located in a scenic neighborhood setting, is surrounded with small trees and garden and has a gorgeous view of the countryside off a long patio in the back. 20-25 minute walk uphill to old town center or city bus station steps away. We arrived on the train from Florence and recommend getting a taxi to the hotel ($15 euros). We then took the 8:00 am bus back to the train station - only gave us 10 minutes for the fabulous breakfast, but got us to the train station by 8:;40 am.
Definitely hope to return here someday to enjoy more time in the beautiful setting!

This is an incredible place. Lorenzo and Stefano are incredible hosts. This is a historical place, as it used to be the summer house of the Piccolomini Family, which had 2 popes, Pius II and III. Our room had frescos from the 1700s on the ceiling. From the terrace you can see Sienna and at nights you can sit outside with your own bottle of wine and enjoy incredible evenings. In the morning, the staff, including Susana, welcomes you with an smile and a wonderful attitude. You get to enjoy a nice breakfast in the garden surrounded by vines and olive trees. The location is wonderful, just 10 minutes walking from one of the entrances to Sienna (Porta Roma). This is clearly a once in a lifetime experience

A charming and characterful small hotel. We had “a room with a view” and a lovely painted ceiling. It was very comfortable and the air conditioning was most welcome. Our hosts could not have been more welcoming and generous, helping us to make the most of our time in Siena. Lingering over a delicious breakfast on the balcony was another treat. We both walked and used the bus that stops near the gate to go into beautiful Siena.

Worn, dirty motel with bad attitude receptionist

Terrible. Do not stay. It ruined our vacation. The washroom sewage stinks like rubbish chute throughout our 3 days stay. Sink is rusty and disgusting. Bathroom tiny. Very worn and lack maintenance. Light bulbs kept flickering and no improvement is made even after we feedback. Receptionist Lorenzo is rude and ignores our feedback. We told him housefly in our room and he simply dismiss it saying it’s harmless. Would you expect housefly in your hotel room and not find it annoying it kept coming to your face? Note that the receptionist goes home at 8pm, after that no help at all, but anyway not as if he helps us at all in his working hours. Do not stay here.

Giacomo was a lovely host and made our stay so pleasant. The breakfast each morning was delicious and the entire staff was friendly. A delightful stay in a perfect Tuscan villa! All of the details are living history - from the old style window fixtures to the goddess statue in the yard. And yet all the modern needs are met. The breakfast on the terrace looking over the view was sublime - the hosts could not have been more engaging - one of my favorite Italian memories.

Oh, and a fantastic ten minute walk to one of Siena's original gates - another ten minutes to the Campo.

Highly recommend. Nice, quaint property with an excellent host. The building originally dates back to 17th century. Good private parking. Decent breakfast. Steps from shuttle to Siena town center. Very classic, old age Italian, but with a modern shower. This is not for you if you’re looking for a modern place. We loved it.

Lorenzo and Giacomo are the perfect hosts of this lovely old villa. There is nothing they are not willing to help you with or make recommendations for. Very attentive.

The view, the view, the view. Every morning to have breakfast on that terrace looking over the valley was a dream come true. The villa feels like a whole other world away from the center of Siena but you can walk through Porta Romana and be in the center in 15 minutes or take the easy city bus just a few steps away. We looked forward to walking into the city every day and then equally looked forward to being back at Palazzo di Valli for our tranquil setting. Rooms are spacious, updated but kept the beautiful elements of the villa. A great stay.

The view from the grounds of the property where you can leisurely sit, read, eat breakfast, hang out, is breathtaking and vast, and alive. Being in that ambience is healing in of itself. We stayed 3 nights at Palazzo di Valli in late April 2022. The property is beautiful and located in a quiet residential area just south of the city's center. It sits on a hill overlooking a valley, and has it's own orchard and flower gardens. Instead of waking up to the sound of motorcycles and delivery trucks under your window, we woke up to chirping birds. Hosts Lorenzo and Giancarlo were wonderful, offering us recommendations, and helping arrange reservations and transportation. It's a bit of a hike into the city center, but my husband and I (in our 60's) managed it easily. There is also a bus stop near the hotel. There is a breakfast buffet that has almost everything you could possibly want, and you can sit outside and enjoy the view while you sip your cappucino. I highly recommend Palazzo di Valli. We'll be back (hopefully) !!

Beautiful Tuscan villa now in use as a small hotel. The rooms retain much of their original features, such as the beamed roof, whilst being equipped to accommodate guests. Only quibble is that the bed is rather hard, if you prefer a softer mattress.
The staff are very friendly and welcoming, sharing useful information about nearby Siena.
Breakfast includes fresh made quality coffee, although the options for vegetarians is a little limited.
Very peaceful setting with stunning views from the terrace.
All in all, recommend this delightful small hotel.

Highly recommend this charming historic place based on comfort, beauty, location and especially the incredible help of the staff, most of all in my case, Lorenzo. The breakfast is a wonderful experience. The view outside is great. Lorenzo knows everything and he will research any solution for you. You walk straight down to the Roman Gate of Siena. Maybe it's 10 or 15 minutes and if you want to save the walking or the time, the special shuttle bus stops right outside your gate and takes you to the city gate or the central plaza. I will mention the entrance is through the gate from the street you arrive on, it's not the small walled road next door. The gate is narrow and Lorenzo explained they haven't gotten a widening approved because the gate is so historic. This was the summer place of a family that had two popes. Very excellent location from which to drive around the towns of Tuscany. Easy to drive a rental car down from Florence. To explain how nice was the experience, I came to Siena from the first class luxury H10 Canova Hotel on the Venice Grand Canal. Although Palazzo Di Valli is very different, I felt Lorenzo and the staff offered me every bit as much personal service, and enjoyed the stay so much I was very sorry to leave after 4 nights. Thank you, Lorenzo!

We loved this hotel! Very old and very charming. In a great location, quiet with awesome views. Staff is warm, welcoming and extremely helpful. Breakfast was excellent with an espresso bar. Can eat inside or out. We say outside one night in the inviting chairs that they put out every evening, enjoying the views with a bottle of wine. Just a lovely hotel that we will definitely visit again. Easy 20 minute walk to Piazza del Campo or hop on the shuttle right outside the hotel. Easy walk back from Piazza even at night. Very safe town and area. Can't wait to return. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Siena!

The Palazzo di Valli is a great place to stay. It's convenient to town -- a short 10 minute walk to the city through the old Roman gate, the Porta Romana. The neighborhood offered an excellent pizza place across the street and we enjoyed the delightful breakfast in the downstairs dining room. The staff was exceptionally helpful and personable, from the breakfast barista to the check-in people, offering their spot on recommendations for sightseeing and dining in Siena. We would definitely stay here again.

Our stay in Palazzo di Valli was incredible!! The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating, even staying later at night for us to check in (our train got in around midnight). They gave their recommendations as to what to do around the city and called restaurants to make us reservations and taxis. Breakfast was fantastic, great selection each morning as well as someone to make a personalized coffee order. Our room was very big (comfort double) with a beautiful view of tuscany! Not too many people stayed in the hotel either so it felt quite familial and cozy. Please stay here if you get the chance!

This was a great hotel, and Jocomo was the best host ever, the rooms were clean and the view and location the best. Siena was beautiful and the view of the city and country from the hotel was great, the hotel is behind gates and while it is in town you feel out in the country due to the secluded location, very private. Wonderful restaurants just across the street, we were so happy with our stay. I have attached pictures of the view from the hotel patio, which is part of the parking area, and where they have tables set out to enjoy the view, with a glass of wine or your breakfast.

Beautiful property with a fabulous view

Beautiful property with a spacious room and a fabulous view of both Sienna and the country side (Room 26 on second floor). Very quiet location (as outside the historical centre). Nice outside terrace with the view for breakfast or an afternoon/evening drink. 10 minutes walk from the gate into old Siena. Breakfast was excellent and the staff could not have been more helpful. Very comfy bed!
Note: does not have a restaurant for dinner.

Wonderful hotel close to Siena

The hotel is an oasis of calm a short distance from Siena. You can walk (15 minutes to centre), or get a bus from outside the hotel.

There is a lovely terrace for breakfast and the staff can tell you everything you want to know about Siena and the surrounding area.

Best views of country side!

Such a gorgeous hotel! I wish we had longer! It is super close to the centre of town but still has breath taking views of the country side! You can sit out on there terrace and have a glass of wine while watching the sun set over the Tuscan hills then walk into town and get a lovely pasta. Highly highly recommend!

Great Experience

We loved this hotel. The views and surrounding areas are beautiful. We stayed in the superior room which was on the top floor and facing the valley. Highly recommended. Less than 15 minutes walk into Siena, best to leave the car parked at the hotel. Staff was great and very helpful especially with recommendations of great places to visit in the area. We drove to a winery for a tour and tasting. Also ended up buying 3 bottles. Then continued to drive along the narrow side roads and stopping in several cool little towns along the way for coffee/wine and some explorations. It was really great and you should definitely do it if you have a car!

Beautiful hotel, fantastic location, great service

We booked a one night stay for travelling between Soriano nel Cimino and Forte dei Marmi and chose this hotel because appeared to have character and something different. It did not disappoint. Our room overlooked the Tuscany countryside and had frescos in the ceiling from the 1700s. The gentlemen who greeted us were extremely friendly and informative and gave us advice about visiting Siena including providing bus tickets on promise of payment later. The WiFi was the strongest we have ever enjoyed anywhere in a hotel, and the shower was great. We were recommended a great restaurant nearby, and a taxi was called for us. We enjoyed a buffet breakfast outside on the terrace in warm sunshine the following morning. If you visit Siena, stay here, it’s beautiful and so individual.

Perfect choice for Siena

Perfect location just a 10 minute walk to the gate into Siena then just another 15 to Siena centre. We had the room on the ground floor, so could walk straight on to the terrace for stunning views over the countryside. It was lovely to be able to have breakfast on the terrace too.. Highly recommend this hotel..

Our stay at Palazzo di Valli was excellent. The view over the Tuscan hills was breathtaking! The owner is very passionate about Siena and made us very excited to explore the city. From the hotel to the main gate was a 10-15min walk and to Il Campo was another 10 min. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel!

great location enough to be away the busy location

I love the atmosphere away from the city centre for only 20 minutes walk to there. It’s quiet and nice. Love the spot where you can relax on the terrace outside having breakfast or at evening drinking wine. Good breakfast! Fresh coffee, espresso and cappuccino made by the food staff. The hotel manager is very helpful and assist you whatever you need. Also make suggestions where to eat, get transportation and what to do in Siena. Great staff! I would definitely recommend this place to other people and I would love to come back!

This is a big villa approx. 10 mins out of the city walls on foot.
There is a bus that you can catch just outside the hotel but walking to and from the city is very nice as well.
It is clean, do not expect luxury, it is a villa turned into a hotel and if that does not bother you it is fantastic. we loved it.
Staff is super friendly and helpful. Giacomo was away and his partner Lorenzo was there and he was a great guy. He helped plan for dining, sight seeing, restaurant reservations. there is parking in the back. we flew into Pisa and drove because we wanted to spend time in different towns in Tuscany. i would highly recommend making Siena your base for such a trip and staying at Palazzo di Valli. Breakfasts in the morning were excellent, our room was always cleaned nicely and the staff again was great. Not only would i recommend this hotel but look forward to going back there again at some point.

A Gem Of A Hotel!

We spent 2 days at the Palazzo do Vali and absolutely loved it!! Beautiful surroundings, magnificent home with frescoes on the ceiling and an old world charm! Sitting in the garden with a spectacular view of beautiful Siena was a perfect way to start our days with a delicious breakfast and also to end our days with some amazing italian red wine.

Many thanks to Lorenzo and staff for making our stay unforgettable.

Beautiful hotel, charming and quaint. Just a short way from Siena center. Bus stop close to entrance and about a 1.5 Euro ride to station, located just below Il Campo Plaza. Hotel well set back from main road in a very country setting, ample parking. Rooms well appointed with a/c, breakfast sumptuous, hosts very helpful and informative. Would definitely return

The location and physical setting are excellent. There is a local bus every 20 minutes, so getting into the city center is simple and cheap, but the service stops before 9 pm, so getting a taxi is needed in the evening, and they can be hard to find. The building and rooms are unique and have real character. Parking is simple, so long as you navigate the car through the very narrow entrance! Service, support and breakfast are all great.
