We were in the triple room in the basement floor next to the breakfast room. It was noisy all night with people walking past, the creaking of people walking on the floor above and the rumble of the underground. The room felt dark and dull but we were very grateful for the aircon during the heatwave. The double bed seemed to tip inwards so I kept rolling into the middle. Tea and coffee facilities included, biscuits would have been nice. Breakfast wasn't great, the room was over crowded, pastries overcooked and everyone kept banging into our table. I was. Very grateful for someone carrying our luggage down the spiral narrow stairs. Overall not a great experience but appreciate some of the noise can't be helped.

This was a very convenient hotel to Paddington station where you can get the Victoria line to Heathrow. The rooms were a bit small but that’s typical and it was reasonably priced. The breakfast at 9 pounds was worth it with yogurt, fruit, eggs and meats and salad and cereal and toast and anything else you could want. The desk staff was very helpful and sent us to a fabulous pizzeria around the block.

I give Athena a 5-star despite my only criticism of only a warm shower-not hot. The room cleanliness was exceptional with tailored housekeeping as requested. This leads me into the superior staff who were kind, polite and accommodating. They kept our bags for the day on check out so we wouldn’t have to lug them around as we wrapped up our touring! We didn’t need any parking so I cannot speak to that, however, the breakfast was very well served and affordable. Oatmeal, toast, cereal, meat, cheese, pastries, and all the hot and cold breakfast drinks. Well done Athena!

This is a nice little hotel, conveniently walking distance from Paddington, so if you come from Heathrow via the Heathrow Express, you can just walk to it and stay there. The breakfast is substantial. There was some repair work going on when we arrived so it wasn't very quiet, but overall it was good. Very comfortable bed and nice bathroom/shower.

We were in a front basement room. Our only issue…. at midnight people/staff were carrying trash etc up some external stairs. Talking and making a racket that woke us for 20+ minutes!

We stayed for 2 nights as we were here for the marathon weekend. Very close to Paddington station. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Reception smelt amazing as you walked in the door.
Our first room was small. Bathroom door hit the bed. Small gap to walk through. Storage was an issue. Nowhere to put anything. TV didnt work and was tiny. We mentioned this to reception and the next morning they moved us.
Second room was lovely. Spacious. Loads more storage and more modern. Huge TV.
Both bathrooms were modern and new however. Under floor heating in both. Would stay here again if we had our second room for sure.

The website pictures/descriptions of rooms are very deceptive.
We were shown to a triple room barely big enough for two beds. There was a chair at the vanity unit/desk that we couldn't use - there was no room to pull it out!
The double bed was so close to the bathroom door that it was impossible to open further than about 30 degrees.
No where to put the suitcases. No where to sit except the beds. Shockingly oversold!
Plus it was partially below street level, with no lift. The narrow staircase down from the ground floor was dangerous to say the least and carrying the cases up and down was very nerve-wracking!
The beds were lumpy, the pillows so thin they were almost non-existent, although the linens were very clean.
The bathroom was clean and fresh, but the shower tray was stained and there was a terrible smell every time you flushed the toilet.
And the towels were scratchy and way too small.
In short, over priced, over sold, and totally underwhelming.

I just stayed overnight in order to be close to Paddington station. The room was good because there was no carpeting and the window opened. The decor is cheerful. The shower worked well and the bed was comfortable. The front desk staff are the same pleasant young people I have met on many stays at the Athena. This is very reassuring and welcoming.

Reception welcomed us warmly upon arrival, and the check-in process was quick and smooth. The rooms were clean, and the location was perfect—just a short walk to the bus stops and Paddington Station, with plenty of restaurants and souvenir shops nearby.
I highly recommend Athena Hotel for a comfortable and convenient stay! Apologies that I didn’t catch the name of the young male receptionist who checked us in on March 25, 2026 around 1:00PM.He was very friendly and helpful.

We are a family of five and LOVED our stay at Athena! This place is a gem! All staff we met were beyond kind, helpful, and professional. The highlight of my stay was the staff, very friendly and accommodating. Also, the location was close to a lot of different options and walking distance from Paddington Station which is a large station that easily connects to most lines in London. Ideal location to quickly get around. However, the room floor was a little dusty. Also, I asked for a room with 3 beds and one of the beds was a cot, that was disappointing.

The hotel was in the midst of a remodel and unpermitted work. They were removing old lead-paint windows and leaving them in the hallway and fresh paint (and fumes) on walls. I was unable to stay there, and knew it immediately, but the property did not care and refused to give a refund even with an unused room. Apparently, ownership of this property has recently changed so don't trust any old reviews and avoid this place if you care about your health. I was forced to get a hotel for many times the amount of this one to have a place to stay for the night. Hotels.com was of no help, don't even try.

I was surprised to find a reasonably priced hotel in London and was dubious about what it would be like. But the reviews were pretty good so I decided to give it a go.
The entrance was inviting and comfortable. The lady at the desk was absolutely lovely. Check in was easy.
The room was clean. The bathroom was clean and modern. The bed was comfortable. I had plenty of space.
The location was convenient and surprisingly quiet (I was on the second floor).
Don't have anything bad to say about the place and will definitely use it again.

I stayed here for one night as London was a stopover between locations. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was fine, and the check in staff was courteous and helpful. If that’s all you’re looking for in a hotel that’s a close walk to Paddington, this will work for you. If you want some amenities or to feel like you’re staying in a nice place, I’d look elsewhere. The staff was kind, the hotel was clean, and we enjoyed the Paddington area. The room conveniently fit 5 ppl. It’s close to the train and tube stations and there are nice dining options. If you’re touring, make sure to see the famous man in the clock a few blocks away! Unfortunately the lift (elevator) was out to service when we were there but luckily we were on the first floor. I would stay here again with my family.
