Had a lovely 11 night stay at Esthisis. Excellent contact from booking. Arranged taxis for us (no additional charge just normal taxi cost) both ways. Owners mother was on reception and was lovely friendly and great information given. The cleaners were also excellent. Cleaned every day with towels changed twice a day and bedding also changed. Again very friendly whenever we saw them. Would definitely recommend this accommodation. Very quiet excellent sun beds. Most comfortable ones I have experienced. Never an issue getting a bed either. Several restaurants all in walking distance less than a couple of minutes were all great. Main Street close with lots of shops and more restaurants. Thank you for a great holiday

Absolute gem of a place, great location - quiet & peaceful but a short stroll downhill to the Main Street & several restaurants up the hill too. Beautiful beach a 10 min walk away. The owners were so welcoming and helpful. They organised us taxis to/from the airport & sorted a hire car for us too. Nothing was too much trouble, we were met from the taxi with cool drinks and a very warm welcome which made us feel so special. The apartment was poolside which was great, there were always loungers to relax on & several times we had the pool to ourselves. We had everything we needed in the apartment- plenty of crockery & a nice big fridge/freezer. Huge bonus was having 3 bedrooms as our teenagers no longer want to share & meant there was plenty of space for us all. Daily cleaners were lovely, always smiling & did a fantastic job. We really felt at home here and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat not too far off the beaten track! Thank you so much team Esthisis, we hope to be back someday :-)

The property is high on a hill which gives beautiful views of Platanias. The beach is a walk away and it’s nice not to be situated in the hustle & bustle of the main road! Excellent restaurant choices in the immediate upper Platanias area.
Very friendly management also!

Located close to the beach and resturants in Platanias.About 10 minute walk to beach. Lots of resturants in even closer but up hill so would not suit everyone. Bus to Chania available from main street. Apartment was clean and spacious. It was cleaned and towels changed daily. Nice pool area with sunbeds. Efi and her staff were very friendly and helpful. Couldn't do enough to make you feel welcome. Efi was very helpful before our stay and booked us taxi to and from airport. Hope to visit again

The stay was overall good. Large rooms and balconies, nice pool and quiet hotel and area. However, the kitchen did not have enough kitchen equipment. The cleaning was bad and it was dusty in many areas, especially under and behind furnitures.

This place is a gem. Perfect destination for families as the suite had lots of space to relax unlike a normal hotel room. The pool was beautiful and the room had a lovely patio that we sat on in the mornings. Kitchen allowed for some breakfast items to be kept for lazy morning starts. The property is easily walkable into town in 5 minutes, which we preferred to being right in town as it would be much noisier - Esthisis was very peaceful and quiet.

Lovely, friendly and relaxing, second time here. Great location with easy access to the more busy parts of the town. Lots of great friendly restaurants, lovely beaches.
Good cheap transport on the local buses.
Great country walks through the orange and olive groves.

Great property with daily housemaid service so always clean and very warm and personal help from the owners whenever we needed it.
Wonderful location too. Close to nice restaurants, bars, shops and the beach of course. All well within easy walking distance but the pool at the Suites when you just want to relax. Cant fault it really :)

Fantastic apartment, large modern with all amenities, staff friendly and helpful. All rooms cleaned daily, with fresh towels. Air con in one room packed up, and it was fixed within hours.
Fantastic views over platanias and could watch the sunset from the large balconies. Would recommend for families.
The only downside is that it is located high up in a hilly area with some steep hills to climb.
Would I return to the Esthisis? An emphatic YES!

Loved this property. The apartment was spacious enough for two people, with a fully equipped kitchen, nice seating area inside and outside with a quiet shared pool.
Efi was amazing. So welcoming with refreshments, more than what you would expect as gifts in the apartment (to which I’m not going to say - I will not spoil the surprises). When checking out we felt love and like we had become part of the family. Received a parting gift and lovely well wishes from Efi

I spend over 100 nights a year in hotels and this is by far the cleanest and most well kept property I have ever stayed in. From the rooms down to the organization of the drawers in the kitchen they had it all covered. The staff was absolutely amazing, free parking and terrific location. If in Plantanias I would be sure to return. Sorry, and the rooms were great - we had three wonderful balances with great views of the sea. Wonderful upscale outside seating as well. You could feel the pride of ownership from the staff.

Wonderful holiday

The suites are spotlessly clean and are fully cleaned and towels changed every single day. The pool and surrounding areas are also cleaned daily. Nothing is too much trouble for Efi and all the members of her team. Cretan hospitality at its best.
Our maisonette was spacious, with tasteful modern décor and good air conditioning. On our arrival, there were bottles of wine, olive oil and water, fresh fruit, tomatoes and cucumber, all of which were most welcome, as were the sweet treats which were left for us later in our holiday. The pool is larger than it looks on the photos and there were many times when we had it to ourselves. There are comfortable loungers and towels are provided.
Platanias village is quiet and quite unspoilt and full of great tavernas, offering excellent food and wine, great views and sunsets and exceptional hospitality. We highly recommend Agioklima and Almiras. The food at Cosmos is also good, and offers outstanding views but it is quite pretentious. For a more up-market experience, at reasonable prices, try Zafferano about half a kilometre away on the main road – stunningly presented flavoursome food, in a great chilled atmosphere.
Platanias town is full of all types of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. On the lovely beach, local tavernas hire out loungers for 3 Euro a day. A coastal bus service runs along the main road- about 15 minutes to reach Chania.
All in all, this was a great accommodation, which was well worth the trek up the hill.

It was mostly good. Welcome was friendly, room clean and large and nice welcome gifts (fruit bowl, bottle of wine). The only downside was that i was gone til late every day and despie the fact that i had put down the shutters and locked the door when i came back the shutters were up and sliding doors unlocked. I complained but it continued. Fortunately nothing was taken.

Location very good for car hire if exploring the island or even if you want to waste your holiday sitting by pool - excellent place either way. Staff treat you like their family and Efi is such a nice lady. Highly recommended.

The only negative was we were slightly out of season so a few places were closed but it was only around €2 into Chania with plenty of choice in places to go.

Esthisis Suites, Platanias, I'd go back tomorrow.

My wife and I had a week in the Esthisis Suites and Apartments in Platanias, Chania, Crete. This was a wonderful find with a staff who we found attentive but not overbearing, willing to help when required and just generally friendly.

On arrival we were met at reception with a lovely lady who offered us a glass of fruit juice while explaining the area and booking us in, we were then shown to our apartment. The apartment was a large one bedroom, the bed was, I'm pretty sure, a super kingsize. The apartment was cleaned daily with lovely fresh towels left, sunbathing towels could be gathered at reception as required, no additional charge for these, or for the built in safe.

The complex itself sits just up the hill from the main strip(150-200m), close enough to walk in a couple of minutes, far enough that you heard nothing, not that it was rowdy anyway. There are a plethora of eateries from grill houses, to traditional, Asian or the faster kebab/pizza/burger joint. There is also a very relaxed atmosphere everywhere with varying styles of bar to sit, relax and enjoy a drink or two.

This was also a great hub for exploring the West side of Crete. Chania region was just stunning, with superb beaches and as much history or scenery that one would want to digest.

Finally, as well as fruit and a bottle of wine in the apartment on arrival, a lovely gesture in itself, we were given a bottle of olive oil when checking out, little things, big impressions.

Great pool, accommodation and care from owners

We were really well cared for at Esthisis. The accommodation is so nice and the pool is beautiful. The owners take great care of you, beyond and above the usual I'm sure. So welcoming and kind. There are only 12 apartments so not crowded, and it is quiet. The apartments are near plenty of very good places to eat and it's a short and pleasant walk to the beach. We would stay again and met people who had returned and still loved it.

This property was simple and mediocre with very kind staff. It had all the essentials, it was clean, the pool was fine but it does not compare to the 4-star rated priories that I’m accustomed to. The comfort of the beds were ok, the bathroom had a strong smell of sewage. We were given pool towels to use for the entire stay, I prefer fresh towels after each days use. This property is in a busy area on a hill with narrow roads. We moved to Esthisis bc Euphoria Resort was sold out for the rest of our stay in Crete. We stayed at Euphoria Resort in Kolympari which is an amazing all inclusive beachfront resort with waterslides, kids club, beautiful pools, wonderful rooms & service. Maybe a bit disappointed with Esthisis Suites after checking out of Euphoria Resort.

Our experience at Esthisis Suites was excellent. We had a 2-bedroom unit (for 2 adults + 2 children) which was spacious, comfortable and had a wonderful view of the Aegean Sea from the balcony. The manager and his family were very welcoming and helpful and there were nice touches in the unit (some fruits/a bottle of wine etc) that made us feel home immediately. Though it was a bit cold for the pool, the pool and the area around it were immaculately maintained. Housekeeping cam every day. The property is a 5 minute walk to the main street where there are many restaurants, the usual tourist shops and grocery stores. It made our trip after our rather hectic stay in Istanbul very relaxing and pleasant. The only downside was that the internet connection was a little slow on the upper floor. If we visit Crete again, we would definitely stay here again.

A perfect spot for a family break

We visited Platanais out of season so much of the area was shut down but this didn't affect our enjoyment of our break - the sun still shone! The suites suited us as a family very well, allowing us to eat in or eat out. The suite was airy, spacious, very clean and comfortable. Being only a short walk from the supermarket, tavernas and beach was convenient but its location, slightly uphill from the hubbub of the main street, ensured the suites balconies had lovely views over green countryside and out to sea. Lack of activity in the resort (early April) was compensated by it being only a short drive to beautiful Chania which offered a variety of activities.

The best choice of place to stay in Platanias

I am SO glad I chose the Esthisis Suites for my holiday to Chania. The family here were ever so lovely to me and helpful with all my requests. The apartments had everything I needed and it was so lovely to arrive to a bottle of wine, water, olive oil & a starter kit of fruit & vegetables. I found the apartment modern in design, spacious and practical and I loved having my own outdoor space and furniture. The apartment was cleaned every day and the bed made and towels changed. The pool was lovely and refreshing and there were plenty of nice comfortable pool loungers. I have absolutely no complaints about Esthisis and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Our stay at the 'Esthisis' was just perfect. When you are greeted by the owners after a long journey from Australia and told to make this place your home for the next three weeks and we don't have any rules here other than enjoy yourself ! Well we did. Effy and Nikolas were the perfect hosts, spotlessly daily cleaned rooms, super clean pool, (plenty of sun beds) lovely manicured plants being tended to in the early morning when all the guests are soundly sleeping behind double glazed sliding windows and wooden shutters that can keep you fast asleep while life goes on outside without a sound.
Fantastic views of the ocean from our apartment which is only a ten minute walk downhill, and only a five minute walk to the village main road which is as lively as hell. You truly are right in the heart of 'Platanias' here but a short walk up the hill after a night out and you would never know it, peace and serenity awaits back at the 'Esthisis' in your air conditioned room. Perfect, thank you Effy, see you next year.

Family friendly hotel with an incredible view

We have just come back from Crete our second time here and we love it. We took two of our daughters aged 16 and 5 and they both loved it. The hotel was amazing, family run and they took care of us. Our apartment for the week was big, airy, clean and the little fruit and vegetables basket all home grown was a nice touch. A bottle of wine and milk cooling in the fridge on arrival was just what you needed after travelling all day.
When we went down to the gorgeous, clean pool Effy fetched us all clean towels to lie on, on top of our cushioned sun beds.
The apartment was cleaned every day and reception was always open with someone to help if needed.
Fantastic scenery! the white mountains are something else. We went up into the mountains horse riding, we visited the oldest olive tree in the Mediterranean and the views were totally amazing. Can't wait to go back!

Relaxing hotel, perfect place to recuperate

Gorgeous hotel apartments with all the facilities you need for self catering, they even had a little selection of fruit and veg left out for me when I arrived. The aim of my stay was just to relax and recover after a really long second term at work (I'm a teacher) and this was the perfect place. The pool is lovely with plenty of sun loungers, you also have your own little terrace which was great for eating outside in the sun or just relaxing. I also took a walk out into the hills just behind the accommodation which was lovely.

My stay was right at the beginning of the season so there wasn't much open in the town itself (still there was a Lidl and enough restaurants and souvenir shops open), kind of perfect for the break I wanted, but a 20 minute bus ride to Chania and you had the usual hustle and bustle of a small European city.

I would definitely recommend.

We have just returned from a fabulous week at the Esthisis Suites. The apartments are spacious and very clean. There are also small touches that are appreciated like some fresh fruit and vegetables, olive oil to use, and a bottle of water in the fridge waiting for you. The family that owns and runs Esthisis are amazing - they were really friendly, great with our kids and always happy to help. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are in Crete!

Amazing place!

We stayed here for a week in the beginning of April. Before arriving we were given great instructions on how to get there from the airport. Upon arriving we were met by a lovely woman who showed us our room, which was clean and spacious.

The added touches of free bottled water, a bottle of wine and some fresh vegetables just made the whole thing seem much more personal and friendly. The day after we were even offered a change of room to have one with a nicer view, which was lovely! And very much appreciated.

It was a very short walk into the town and a walk up the hill showed off the spectacular views. There was always somebody in the reception if needed and they always said hi when they saw us. Everything was just so nicely done and I honestly can't find a fault. Would definitely come back as soon as possible!

Amazing apartments - would definitely go back

My boyfriend and I are just back from a weeks stay at Esthisis - I would definitely recommend and go back. Perfect for a young couple (21 and 22) as only 5 mins from lots of bars and restaurants and beach only 10 minute walk if that. Maids cleaned all day long it was spotless, staff all really helpful and friendly. Restaurant options on main strip of Platanias but also restaurants further up the hill with fab views. Room itself was modern and just like the pictures, bottle of wine and fruit on arrival, we had a 1 bed suite it was more than spacious enough for us both. Deserves all the reviews - faultless and will be back!

Best, new apartments in Crete with swimming pool

I booked apartment for an entire week for a family of five. The staff was extremely courteous and helped us plan some outings. My wife got sick and the staff got her a doctor right away. This is the best service I have received from any hotel concierge.
I highly recommend the place. Rooms are clean and spacious. You feel like at home. Restaurants nearby have excellent traditional Greek food and other types. The town is within walking distance with lots of shopping and beaches. The main attractions in Crete (Elafonisi, Balos, Georgioupoli, Rethmyno, etc.) are a short drive away. Definitely recommend this place to couples and families!

This is a really cute place - modern apartments (2 stories) that are tastefully decorated. The apartments are spacious and very clean. There are also small touches that are appreciated like some fresh fruit and vegetables, olive oil to use, and a bottle of water in the fridge waiting for you. The best, however, is the family who owns and runs the place. They are very nice, charming, and helpful. They are also around most of the time if you need anything.

We used this place as a base for the area. Elafonisi beach was an hour and 20 minute drive away. Chania is 10-15 minutes away. We came at the end of March so lots of shops were closed, but we also enjoyed how empty it was. There are a ton of places to stay here, and I can imagine that it gets really crowded. Also the beach is nothing to write home about. But this place was a comfortable, modern place to stay, and you get to meet a wonderful family.

Fantastic apartments. But lacks privacy.

The apartment were very hard to find with no signage. Equally the reception should also be identified clearly. We had a warm welcome with a welcome juice. The apartments was exactly as the pictures portrayed but better. Spacious, modern, and super clean with views to die for. The added bonus of a bottle of wine, water, and some fruit and vegetables was a very welcome touch.
Now for the bad points. The design of the apartments left you open to a total lack of privacy. The L shape block meant the balconies from adjacent apartments looked right on to your balcony, and right into the bedrooms.
The pool area was small and felt confined and it was covered in shade till late morning. Due to it being enclosed the noise from other guests bounced off the buildings which did not give the impression of relaxation. Unfortunatly due to other inconsiderate guests, playing ball, shouting and generally ruining our peaceful holiday we only used the pool once during the week stay, and chose to use the beach instead. Also noted a family that reserved their loungers early in the morning by putting towels on them of the only few loungers to get the sun at 10.30am.
During the late afternoon, and also during the evening, guests were playing music on the patio for all to hear. These apartments looked quite exclusive but the others guests were not and completely spoiled our time here.
The staff were fantastic, the cleaners did an amazing job and worked very hard each day. But I wouldn't stay again.

We were greeted by the owner with a friendly smile and cold drinks, our room was spotless and beautifully decorated. The pool was cleaned each day and was immaculate.

It was in a good location close to all the restaurants easy to get to the main town and a beach in short walking distance although a beautiful beach a 5 min drive away. It was up hill walk to get back to apartments each time but we did not mind that, however it would not be good for someone who had walking difficulties.

Streets ahead of others we stayed in

Platanias is part of the long strip of tourist resorts not far out of Chania, but the high up, older part of the village where the suites are located is still typically Cretan and very quiet in April.This was our second year visiting the small complex of Esthisis Suites and this time we had a most beautifully appointed two-storey maisonette. The upstairs living room had a kitchen area with very large fridge-freezer, full hob, oven and microwave. Furnishings were streets ahead of any of the other 8 villas or apartments (and one hotel) we stayed in during our extended stay, and our beds were by far the most comfortable . The owners are staff are all delightful and nothing is too much trouble.
The accommodation centres on a pool area which I imagine might be a bit crowded when all apartments are full, and personally, I was glad we had a car, as the walk up from the beach is a bit of a tiring hike, especially in hot weather. There is a very good supermarket within easy reach and a small village shop for fresh bread in the morning. There are several friendly tavernas close by.

Fantastic Hotel/Apartment with welcoming hosts

Hotel/Apartment was well appointed, although couch was at 90 degrees to TV, but we turned it around, which worked for us while we were there. Hotel/Apartment staff were very friendly & accommodating, we were welcomed with juice & cake was left in our apartment on Oih day, a public holiday in October + we were given olive oil on checking out. When we needed pliers to fix a zip on a suitcase, they were found & available + advise on where to visit was provided & local tips were given to assist in travel routes. Recommendations for where to eat were great, Milanos's restaurant just 5 minutes from the hotel, was fantastic & we ate there 5 out of 7 nights we were there, it was great Greek home cooked food, with a welcoming host.

Superb apartment - best one we have ever stayed in, in Greece. Beautifully appointed bedroom, lounge/kitchen & bathroom with powerful shower. Outside terrace large with proper furniture - we will certainly return in the future. Complex is owned by a family who were all extremely friendly & helpful.
We arrived at 1am & were greeted with a bottle of wine!

Nice stay in Platanias

It was a very nice stay in a quiet place outside Platanias busy main street. It had 2 very good greek restaurant (4.8 and 4.9 on google map) just 1 minutes away. Staff was friendly and helpfull. Only negative was that the freezer was out of order and the stove didt give much heat and cooking took a long time. But we would like to return! 🙂

Struttura ubicata in una posizione elevata rispetto alla via principale...quindi comoda ma estremamente silenziosa e tranquilla. Platanias è in una pisizione strategica per raggiungere velocemente le splendide spiagge di Falasarna, Balos ed Elafonissi e a 15/20 minuti dalla splendida cittadina di Chania. Per la ristorazione c'è l'imbarazzo della scelta!!! I proprietari della struttura estremamente disponibili e gentili....ci torneremo di sicuro!

Lovely hotel with an amazing view

The place is amazing!
Close to everything-(beach, close to the best restaurants in town, supermarkets etc.) Additionally the place is very quite and the view is amazing.
We had a room with 2 bedrooms and 3 balconies.
And the owners are lovely-they helped us with everything-booking taxis,booking a rental car etc.
We can strongly recommend this hotel!

En skjult perle for ro og hvile🙏

Dette var en fantastisk plass. Vi bytta hotell fra Kalamaki og hit før videre til Maleme. Verten er det fineste menneske vi har møtt. Leiligheten var stor og moderne ned alle tenkelige hjelpemidler, t.o.m. smarttv. Det tar 2 minutter å gå til Platania setrum. Sengene var deilige, fin sofagruppe i stua, sofagruppe utendørs. Nei vi er helt frelste vi altså❤️❤️ rent og pent 11/10 herfra.

Vi hadde en veldig fin uke på Esthisis! Fint og godt vedlikehold, nærhet til strand og restauranter, men likevel litt tilbaketrukket. Veldig fint bassengområde og leiligheten var av fin størrelse til to. Svært hyggelig og imøtekommende personale. Anbefaler stedet og kan godt tenke oss å dra tilbake.

Amazing rooms! we stay 2 bedroom familyroom and everything was awesome. Clean rooms, good kitchen and equipment. lovely balcony. The was wine, olive oil, vegetables and fruits in the room and owner was awesome, we felt were welcome. Zeer welkomeontvangst. ruim en zeer proper appartement. Dagelijks housekeeping was zalig. Ligging boven de rest van het dorp maakt dat het heerlijk rustig is. Platanias is een goede uitvalsbasis om West Kreta te ontdekken en Chania. Platanias zelf is niet zo interessant, maar heeft voldoende gelegenheden om goed te eten zodat je nooit zelf hoeft te koken
