Room very comfortable, breakfast plentiful with lots of choice. Helpful staff. Good base for travelling around the area.
We were there at the end of the season and always found parking ok and loads of sun beds around the pool and on the beach. Beach is nice, shingle rather than sand.
Entertainment in the evening very good. Bar prices were reasonable.
Local area is no doubt very busy in the high season, but many shops and restaurants had started to close while we were there.
Technically we did have a garden view as booked but it was also over the next door car park too.
We booked an additional night (originally 3 nights) but I think they were going to offer us a different/upgrade room for the last night but I didn’t want the hassle of moving our stuff.
Would definitely recommend.

We stayed at Thalassa for 3 nights and had an awesome experience. The resort was really beautiful with multiple restaurants and a beautiful beach. They also plan multiple activities such as having a singer at the hotel bar. The food was also really good with a lot of choices. Our room was really big,

We enjoyed the Thalassa Beach hotel, especially the pool and the beach lounge chairs. It was nice that there were always beach chairs available. The downside, the jaccuzzi was not warm, it felt like a pool not like a jacuzzi. The indoor pool is only available when you go to the spa to do a treatment. I thought it’s available for everyone free of charge since the pool closes already at 7pm. The room was very clean and the housekeeping staff was hard working. Our room views were disappointing. It supposed to be a garden view but it was over looking a street (room# 316 & 317). The breakfast was delicious with a lot of choices and friendly staff.

From the welcoming staff who go out of their way to ensure your comfort, to the great breakfast buffet, amazing facilities (pool, bar area, being on the beach) - no details are overlooked. The hotel is in good shape the main problem is that the in the bulding which is not facing the sea you got the risk to have a room in the underground (no garden view as writen) or near the parking or the main street. Also air condition limits temperature. The staff is very kind. The food was everge for the extras like drinks or so they overcharged

Fabulous hotel, disappointing view

Beautiful hotel, spotlessly clean with lovely quality furnishings. Good breakfast buffet with plenty of choice. All the staff were really friendly and the service was excellent. Pool area is lovely with plenty of beds, connected to the beach with use of the hotels sunbeds. Food at the pool bar is lovely. We booked a garden view room which had the worst view of any hotel I have stayed in, roof view with a few plants on it and rotten windows, we didn’t use the balcony once. We had room 317, so if you can avoid that room, I presume 316 and 318 had the same awful view. I don’t think all the garden room views were as bad as ours. It didn’t spoil our holiday in this lovely hotel but was a bit disappointing 😢 The location is great, in a relatively quiet area with a 10 minute walk to platanius where it is a bit livelier. Great hotel with lovely staff, would recommend.

Got an upgrade to the suite. Amazing staff, so clean, great location. Nice pool and lots of beach chairs. Beach in front of hotel is rocky just into the water. (Not the hotels issue to be clear) Breakfast options were top notch. Lost of restaurants and shopping in the area. Would definitely stay here again.

We loved the views from our room and the staff was so friendly! The chef in the restaurant (Cristos) made amazing meals & was so friendly! He even gave us a cooking class. We also enjoyed the pool & beach area. I would definite commend this hotel and I hope we can come back some day!

The property is lovely and the staff are accommodating. We did not get refills of coffee or cream during service and had to call for cream. We LOVED our spa experience it was lovely and the ladies were fabulous! We tried the dinner there for we enjoyed the breakfast, the appetizer was delicious (the fried potato comes with meat just a heads up) but the main was inedible for both of us. We paid and went to the Meze Taverna next door for we knew it was good food and drinks there! The hotel was considerate and wanted the feed back about the dinner which gives me hope they are wanting to adjust or tweak things! Overall it was a lovely stay and we would stay there again!

Great experience

From the time of the check-in at the reception, the staff was great and even other days when I had questions about places to visit they were very helpful. I was even given a free upgrade. Also, the breakfast was really good. I also enjoyed the fact that it’s an adult hotel and it makes for a good experience when there’s no kids around.

One of the best hotels I have stayed in.
The staff were amazing. Especially the evening restaurant manager who, with the help of the chef, daily came up with meal options not on the menu to suit my diet needs (I did not request for this to happen).
It was the first time I had stayed in an adult only hotel. I really enjoyed the quietness, feeling of being safe and facilities.
The hotel was in a very convenient position for public transport and in easy reach of Chania.

Staff were really friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was fantastic, great selection and even prosecco!
Lovely pool area with loungers, fresh fruit in the mornings and the sunset cocktails served by Manos were great.
We were dissapointed by our room which was an internal room which was not obvious during the booking process. It got very warm and was unpleasant to not be able to open a window and let fresh air in. We had been looking forward to sitting on our balcony enjoying a glass of wine but it's not quite the same when it's inside.

The staff are superb and go out of their way to accommodate you with a smile. Unfortunately some of the gloss came off for us as we were put in room 315 which was dreadful. It is an inside room right above a 24hr reception and near the kitchen. It has no natural light or windows. When you open the balcony you hear every conversation, every phone ring, the kitchen preparing the breakfast and people in the lobby. The curtains in the room also don’t block out the 24 hour lit reception so be prepared to sleep very little if you get this room. I complained immediately and asked for a room change but the hotel was fully booked and they could not accommodate me for a few days and even then we would have had to move a total 3 times to get the room type we paid for. I gave feedback to the general manager at the end of our stay and as all the staff she was really wonderful. She said they were aware this wasn’t the best of rooms and would try to get it restricted so that it couldn’t be booked. She gave us some complimentary drinks and a some Greek goodies to take home which was appreciated. For me sleep is important as well as comfort. Had we known this is the room we would have received I can honestly say we would have selected another hotel. Please note that should we have had a decent room this would have thumbs up all around.

View from our sea view room was fantastic. Room was comfortable and housekeeping ladies were friendly. All staff at the resort was very friendly and greated you daily.The beach was fantastic and it was nice that they had an \"Easy access to the sea\" sign with an arrow as other areas have large rocks. The free buffet breakfast was very good with a wide selection of food.
The only two things that we didn't like....
1) pool water was cold
2) the hot tub was not a hot tub, it was a cool tub, with cold water running through the jets. Why have that? If you wanted to cool off, jump into the cold pool.!

Nice hotel on the beach, great location for little bars and restaurants with plenty to choose from.
Rooms good size, comfy beds shower is over the bath which i'm not bothered for. Breakfast choice is ok, more than enough choice really from meats cheese, usual omelette set up to fruit and bread options. The buffet is still self service you just must wear your mask and plastic gloves which are provided.
Nice pool with swim up bar, most of the sun lounges are in the shade come mid afternoon which is not a good point as the others are on the grass we used the beach most days. However that said the loungers are very comfy with good padded cushions.
Just 1 point I wish hotels would consider we were on a late flight home so just needed somewhere clean for a quick shower, only option was extended check out at 40€ or use the shower in the toilets by the pool. Should the toilets by the pool have been a bit cleaner and better set out it would be an ok option but not the cleanest and very dimley lit.
Overall a nice stay.

We really enjoyed staying here for our short trip to Crete at the end of our honeymoon to Greece. The pool was nice and so was the bar. Our room was a junior suite with an ocean view. The location is great for an easy taxi or bus ride into Chania. The front desk staff was helpful with recommendations on where to go and explore the nearby area. We were able to rent a car and had easy parking right out front of the hotel. The breakfast buffet was tasty with many options and they even gave us a box to go when we had to leave on an early flight.

What an awesome stay, didn't want to leave. The hotel is right on the beach with a beautiful pool too. Every worker was exceptional. Always a smile and a complement. Nice hotel with very pleasant staff. Junior suite with sea view was a bit smaller than expected but duplex bedroom gave it a bigger feel. Not keen on not being able to flush toilet paper away and this would have out put me off booking had I known. Mini fridge in room and tea and coffee making facilities a good idea.Although the hotel was nice and clean we weren't keen on the surrounding area which was too commercialised however found a few nice more traditional places if you venture further back from the strip of shops and bars. Pool decking area could do with redecorating but plenty of sun beds although could be busier in later months. Buffet breakfasts was pretty average (although you did get free sparkling wine) but had one evening meal in hotel and food and service was excellent. Sand quality was slightly better further along the beach and was very windy when we stayed.

Smart, modern hotel with access to beach

Had a wonderful holiday - hotel and staff were excellent. Hotel approx 25 minute bus ride into Chania town. Many restaurants and bars in immediate vicinity. Walked the Samaria Gorge - wonderful experience but be prepared as it's a tough walk - around 16 kms over very rough, rocky ground - legs, knees and ankles will hurt for a couple of days after!

A short four night break to celebrate my wife's birthday. The hotel and staff were first class and nothing appeared too much trouble. My wife found the bed a little firm for her back and this was immediately rectified by housekeeping who produced a mattress topper. The hotel food, snacks and evening meal, were high quality and great value for money.

Excellent Choice for a Quiet, Romantic Getaway

Given everything we'd read about Agia Marina being a family vacation destination, we very much wanted a child-free hotel (I don't know what a facililitator is, but we were pretty clear we didn't want a hotel that had them, as it sounded noisy). The Thalassa totally fit the bill on that score. The hotel was actually smaller than it seemed on the website, and on the main street in Agia Marina, with a restaurant on one side and an empty lot on the other. The website wasn't in any way misleading, but we expected more land. However, the facilities were very good - comfy beach chair, good umbrellas, the room was quite comfortable - we had a garden room, which was nice and quiet, although you do face others' terraces. The staff was lovely. The other guests, mostly Swedish/Danish/Norweigan, in their 40s and 50s (although there were some couples in their 20s and 30s), were quiet, which was exactly what we wanted. The restaurant was unexpectedly good - we usually avoid hotel restaurants, but ate there twice. The beach was a little bit pebbly at the top, sandy at the bottom, but with stony slabs making it difficult to go into the water - it looked better a few minute walk to the left, but we actually had bad weather the week we were there and didn't go in the water. A 20 minute bus ride into Chania, which is an amazingly beautiful town, so staying in Agia Marina is a nice balance of beach vacation and touring. I'd return to this hotel if I went back to the area.

Hotel bumped us

I spent a lot of time researching a hotel right on the beach and in town, and booked Thalassa. The manager bumped us to another hotel which was 1/3 mile from beach and on the outskirts of another town. She lied and told me it was right on the beach. Reading other reviews, bumping seems to be a regular practice for Thalassa.

Very nice hotel. The food at breakfast and dinner was excellent and all the restaurant staff and reception staff were very very helpful.

Very relaxing!!

My fiancé and I had an enjoyable stay over our 4 nights. This hotel is in a great location, 500m from lots of great beach bars and day pool parties, and about a 10-15 minute drive to Chania Town. Chania Town is so busy and chaotic, this area is nice and relaxing on the beach. We rented a car for 2 days and went to Balos Lagoon and Elafonisi beach - a MUST if you come to Chania, but you need a day for each. The hotel is in great condition, the exterior has a warm pool with a pool bar, and then a little outdoor restaurant. You can also lay on the chairs along the beach and the staff bring out fresh watermelon. We stayed in a standard room, it was nice and cosy, very clean!! The only negative is there was no power point in the bathroom for my straightener, but luckily there is a large mirror in the room. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

Good for singles

I hadn't realised when I booked this hotel that it was a \"couples\" hotel, but although I was there on my own, I wasn't treated any differently. I really enjoyed the resort. Very well maintained and the facilities were good. Everyone was very helpful and friendly, especially the reception staff. I suppose the greatest benefit of booking into a \"couples\" resort was that there were no children which made for a nice, calm and quiet holiday. Exactly what I wanted!

Great pool and friendly staff

Stayed for 9 nights in June 2013, and have to say that everything with our stay was perfect. Few things to be aware of though, inside parking is only for very small cars. Sea view room is nice, but really couples hotel should have King or Queen beds instead of twin beds. Special thanks for pool bar staff, made us feel very welcomed. Can really recommend this hotel :)

We stayed at Thalassa for 7 nights. My first impression was that the pictures i saw on the internet did not do it justice.. the resort is so beautiful in person. It was a gorgeous place, located in a very touristy area. We walked a lot at night, went for great dinners, and drinks at random cafes.

One thing I would definitely recommend is the \" private dinner on the beach\" it was my husbands birthday while on our honeymoon I surprised him with it... He LOVED it. It's totally worth the money!! It's so romantic the sunset is spectacular and the chef is AMAZING!

The only negative things i saw was the beach, it was very rocky. I bruised my toe getting out of the water. They seemed to be short staff for lunch.. You also get too many receipts.. Every item you order you receive a receipt. It would be nice to just have a grand total.

Other than that I would recommend Thalassa for a romantic, relaxing, fun vacation!

fantastic stay!

My wife and I thouroghly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The food and drinks were great and the service was amazing. We were concerned about the location but its was very close to most shopping and only a 5 min drive to the Chania market. The pool was a little cold but thats a minor negative compared to all of the positives this hotel had to offer. I would recommend to any couple looking for a nice place to stay.

Recommended hotel for quiet beach get-away

Very nice hotel. Courteous staff. Great location, if you want to be on/near the beach. The hotel offers beach towels and beach-chairs and sun umbrellas (complmentary), Wifi is also complimentary, and on ocassion staff bring out sliced watermelon to guests on the beach. The outdoor pool is also very nice.

The rooms are very nice and very clean. The only complaint is our room only had 2 small beds pushed together. the problem was kind of corrected (locked the 2 beds together the second night).

There are nice restaurants and markets next door and the old town of Chania is about 20-25 minutes away by bus/taxi.

On the beach!

The hotel is right on the beach. The swimming pool, the bar, the sea, the staff, all really great. We enjoyed our stay a lot! The restaurant next to it is also very good and the people are great, and we went there every night as the hotel's restaurant closes at 10, too early for us.
We really recommend it!

Comfortable and Clean Room in Great Location

What appeared to be one of the better hotels in the nice beach town of Agio Marina. Walking distance to many restaurants and shops, and right on the beach. Only complaint is the double bed was actually two twins just pushed together.
