We had one of the smallest rooms. It was adequate for our 2 night stay but the bathroom was especially small. Breakfast was a bit chaotic; tables were very close together and at times the staff seemed harried as they tried to get everyone's coffee orders.
The afternoon-evening concierge was lovely and helpful but one of the morning concierges was unfriendly.

There are 2 sections of the hotel. One has ancient, uneven, steep steps and no elevator. They carry your bag to your room. You think you are having a hard time with the stairs because you've been traveling for 15 hours. But the steps are treacherous.

The staff, especially the dining and room staff, are friendly and accommodating. The front desk staff is smug, knowledgeable, grudgingly helpful, but they don't always pass requests on to the room staff.

If the hotel were even 15% less expensive I wouldn't have been thinking that I'd made the wrong choice.

The Hotel was fine near all sites , It is in a small ally way and it takes a little figuring out to locate but once you know were it is , its easy enough to get to .

Everything and everyone was amazing! Only complaint, the canal view room, pointless. You can’t see the canal unless ur an nba player or you travel with a step stool. You open window and blocking your view is part of the wall and flowers.
Location is perfect and the staff was amazing. Room was clean and spacious!

A magical place to stay in a magical city!

Our two nights in the rooftop panoramic suite was a truly special occassion, waking to the bells of St Marks only a block away - close enough to beat the crowds with an early-moring wander before returning for a terrific buffet breakfast at the hotel.

The Bridge of Sighs in the morning mist, the sound of seranading gondoleers drifting up from the canal, the beautiful sunset skies with something uniquely Venice, this was the perfect place to feel both in the heart of the city while floating above it all.

This hotel has great access to the top attractions but is only a few minutes' walk from quiet squares and alleys. The staff had excellent dining reccomendations that never failed, and the breakfast buffet was excellent.

Highly reccommended if you can stretch to the price!

Two things … rooms a little small but that’s thruout Venezia and 2nd do not book taxi to n from station or airport from them as they upcharge like a LOT !! Overall, very nice stay and room. We stayed in the junior suite, with canal view for a few days.

Pros: The staff were very nice and friendly. I had emailed them before coming and they remember and addressed my questions. They walked us straight to our room and we received a free welcome drink which was a really nice touch! The room is very grand - felt like we were in Bridgerton. Very fancy! The bed was comfortable, clean and the set up of the washroom was great. The amenities like the water provided, complimentary cookies, coffee and the shampoo/bath gel, hairdryer were all very appreciated. The staff was very helpful too! We were provided a map and high level of what attractions and restaurants were nearby. Housekeeping also ensured the room was kept nice and clean. Location was fabulous - 5 mins from major attractions

Cons: The canal view unfortunately was blocked by the railing and the mosquito screen was broken. A ton of mosquitos came in overnight and we each received 20-30 bites each, which is not the hotels fault. We called them for help and it took them really long to come. They also did not spray the room or install the insect machine like they said until we called a second time later. We had asked for them to take a look at the blood stains on the walls from when we killed the mosquitoes and clean it. It wasn’t done but the staff when they did come were nice and friendly, and helpful. The tv also was not digital or smart, and there was no tea available in room.

The staff truly made our trip better with guidance on local authentic restaurants, to suggestions of a daily private boat tour of Venice that runs daily directly from the hotel. The breakfast was delicious with a range of gluten free options and the room was clean and had a wonderful view of the canal-albeit slightly obscured by the construction and scaffolding of the building opposite.

Great location with short walks to all the great restaurants, shopping, Piazza San Marco, Saint Mark’s Basilica, Doge’s Palace, & the docks. But also with just the right amount of distance that we weren’t bothered by excess noise from all the people wandering the alleys. Staff was wonderful. Allow them to arrange your water taxi rides to/from the airport or train station so you are dropped off or picked up right from their lobby (fair pricing too!). Only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is an odd odor that makes everything feel musty & the stairs leading to our floor that were quite the trip hazard. Rooms are opulent & comfortable overall.

We booked this particular hotel on the strength of the lovely photographs of the rooms, as part of a 3 major city tour of Italy as a 30th wedding anniversary treat to ourselves. To say we were disappointed is an understatement.... we were given what we felt was the smallest room in the house (my husband is 6'2" and had to walk around the room stooping down to avoid banging his head on some of the rafters) it was in the roof, very dark due to a tiny window, and very hot despite the air conditioning. But, the breakfast staff were excellent and the location was the absolute best, literally 2 minutes walk from St Marks for example.

Colombina Hotel was a perfect spot to stay in Venice! Centrally located to some of the city's most iconic locations, while offering a quiet and authentic experience right on one of Venice's famous canals. Stayed at the Colombia Hotel for Venice Carnivale and the location was just perfect. Within minutes of San Marco along a straightforward path and to the key spots for photographing masks. The hotel arranged a private water taxi which was convenient though a bit steep (a nearby hotel was 10EU cheaper which helps). Breakfast staff were always attentive and pleasant. Breakfast options were varied with plenty of fruit. Room was spacious as was the bathroom. Well worth a consideration and a return visit.

The property is in a great location and it has its own dock which is great, for coming from the airport or walking around town. I will say the breakfast was subpar compared to other places we stayed in Italy and our room had a really bad smell to it, and was really small. I had to prop open the bathroom door daily and keep the doors open to the balcony when we were in the room. It had a screen which was unfortunately shredded. luckily we didn't get mosquitos.

Had a great time in Venice and enjoyed our stay at Colombina Hotel! The staff was amazing - friendly, attentive, and helpful. Our room was very nice, with a view overlooking the canal, and a very nice renovated bathroom (the bedroom furnishings are pretty dated, though).

Wish I could rate this 4.5 stars rather than 4 - the only real downsides that we experienced during our stay were room temperature being quite warm (cold air didn't seem to ever flow in, only heat), and the terrible persistent mosquitos which prevented us from opening the windows for the cool air. One of the two windows had a screen on it, but it did not cover the entire window so the mosquitos always found a way in, and boy are they thirsty! We woke up to multiple new bites each day.

Breakfast was pretty basic yet reliable, it included bacon, eggs, pastries, and simple beverages - no complaints there. The turnover staff was also great! Very nice location - about a 30 minute walk to the train station. We opted for the private water taxi to take us to/from the hotel - it is very expensive but worth it for the experience and overall ease (hop on, enjoy, hop off) over the packed and slow public boats.

There are no smoke alarms in both the rooms or stair well, no fire extinguishers or blankets, no fire signs, no fire exit in this 2 bedroom room. It is not really any part of the hotel as is down the alley and you do not go in to the hotel at all. This room is not in the hotel and we are not sure why this is advertised as part of the hotel albeit an annexe. Our room was pretty but not serviced once, was incredibly loud and we all woke every morning with bites all over us. My sons cot bed mattress was orange and stained and he woke with bites all over him including his lip which was very sore. We are all covered in bites which only happened when in contact with the beds as there were no flys in October.
We were unable to find another accommodation option while out there to move to which woupd be affordable on topof what we have paid as there was a marathon on so was very full.
Venice itself is incredible, this accommodation is not.
Expedia, where is your accountability with this? You are selling this accommodate without clearly inspecting it first. With young children staying in accommodation with no fire precautions on the 2nd floor is totally unacceptable 😑 if there was a fire we would not be able to escape in anyway, especially with wooden beamed ceilings.

Amazing Venice stay

Had hotel arrange water taxi service from Venice Airport. Excellent communication, confirmation, and guidance along the way. Flawless transfer to hotel lobby, and beautiful boat ride into the heart of Venice, right under the Bridge of Sighs! Worth every penny and the ONLY way to go for more than 2 people imho. Hotel location is perfect, only 4 minute easy walk from St. Marks square. Easy access to restaurants and shops, and less than 10 minute walk to Rialto area. Room is elegantly decorated, very quiet and comfortable. Our room had a canal view, too! Super clean, had espresso machine and fridge. Elevator is available, note lobby has several two step areas so accessible if you can transfer and climb two steps. Staff was phenomenal, friendly, spoke English well. Ask about their tours, they are great deals! Breakfast was delicious, buffet style with hot options, as well as traditional European fare.

Charming boutique hotel that is walkable to everything you’d like to see in Venice. They have their own boat entry, which was an amazing experience. Our view onto a canal and the Bridge of Sighs was spectacular! We enjoyed their breakfast every morning and had a lovely afternoon drink on their small dock. We loved the location and the staff were so helpful. They organized a night tour by water taxi and the city tour to go inside st marks church and the palace - so fabulous- with gondola, the next day. Door to door service. Then we got a water taxi for $100 euro to the train station - cause of a lot of luggage we had to do this and traveled to triedte for our cruise.

The location is excellent, right in the heart of Venice and only a few minutes’ walk from Piazza San Marco. Our room was beautiful, very clean, and offered stunning views of both St Mark’s Campanile and the Bridge of Sighs, which made the stay feel truly special. On arrival we were welcomed with complimentary bottle of prosecco, and throughout our stay the staff were extremely friendly, attentive, and always happy to help. They went the extra mile to provide additional touches when requested, which really added to the experience. Overall, a perfect base for exploring Venice and a hotel I would happily return to.

The water taxi dropped us off right at the front entrance—an incredibly convenient way to arrive. Navigating this route would’ve been tricky if the water level had been too low or too high, especially with all our luggage in tow. While water taxis can be pricey, cruising through Venice along the Grand Canal is a spectacular experience that’s well worth it.

Loved this hotel.. BUT when you get to the airport go to the “water taxi” lane and take a boat directly to the hotel which is located on a a canal and has a launch. The water taxi is $180e but well worth the direct trip…. Great area. Will definitely stay here again.
