Location is right in the heart of the city so can find anything you need within 5 minute walk. Definitely work stay again

The room was in terrible condition. The bed sheets were dirty and full of hair, and there were stains everywhere. The bathroom was extremely small and filthy—when sitting on the toilet, my legs touched the sink, and the shower curtain was grimy and too long. To top it off, the front desk refused to give me toilet paper, so I had to buy wipes from a nearby deli. Very disappointing experience.

The location is perfect if you want to explore the Zona Colonial. It is a few steps away from the Plaza Colon where restaurants abound. This is a hostel and so they have very basic amenities. The room Ingotnis on the 3rd floor and has no windows. I dont recommend it for claustrophobic. if you want rooms with windows, they have it on the 4th floor. They dont have an elevator and so be ready with your knees to climb the stairs. In the room, they have good airconditioning system, the hot water in the shower is working good, they have tv which I didnt use because the remote control is not working,they have a safe which is also not working. They dont provide soap and shampoos but I got small bar soap when I requested at the front desk. The bed is comfortable. Wifi is working good. They dont have a lampshae beside the bed and so you have to get up to turn off the light. The switch is right at the side of the door. Without the lampshade, you will be groping in the dark to go back to your bed after switching off the light. Remember there are now windows and so you are like in the dungeon. On my first night they had a power outage. The aircon stopped, no lights and I was immersed in total darkness. The staff are hospitable and welcoming. For short stay in the Zona Colonial I MAY choose this hotel again.

The location is great because it's a tourist area, and the staff are courteous. The front desk person made a 'garment' from plastic bag as a raincoat when I needed to go out in the rain. However, I didn't like the super-tiny 'bathroom'. It's humanly impossible to bathe in it. Still, it's quite clean and okay in terms of the hygiene.

Lamento informar que mi experiencia durante la estancia en su hotel no fue del todo satisfactoria, especialmente en relación al recibimiento y atención que recibí al llegar. El señor de la recepción en el turno de noche se mostró poco cordial y no muy dispuesto a ayudar.

Solicité un cambio de sábanas debido a que las encontré en un estado no adecuado. Sin embargo, la respuesta que recibí fue que podía proporcionarme las sábanas que necesitara, pero que debía cambiarlas yo misma, ya que él no podía hacerlo. Esto me sorprendió, pues esperaba que, habiendo pagado por varios días, recibiría una habitación limpia y confortable desde el principio.

Al expresar mi inconformidad, me trasladaron a una habitación algo mejor, que incluía una pequeña refrigeradora, la cual considero debió haber estado disponible desde nuestra llegada, sin necesidad de insistir tanto.

Adicionalmente, observé que el saludo no era correspondido por parte del personal de recepción en la noche, lo cual es una cortesía que considero importante y esperaba por parte de un establecimiento de su categoría.

This place is a gem! Best area to be in the city Zion Colonial district (I think I got that right). The hotel was clean, staff super friendly and helpful(love Edward super nice overnight staff), the patio was great for people watching. Location is awesome! A place half a block a way with tons of cultural entertainment and plenty of dining options. Also there is a supermarket up the street if you want to buy anything. 10/10 would stay here again.

Hostal La Colonia is greatly located at the heart of the Colonial City of Santo Domingo. Everything is within walking distance.

The only issue we had was that apparently, Expedia had overbooked our reservation. My group had reserved seven rooms and, when we arrived there, there were only five available.

The staff, however, was able to sort everything out and we ended up having a great stay.

The only two issues were: In one of the rooms, there was no toilet paper in the bathroom and we had to ask for it. Secondly, the baterries in one of the safes had to be replaced in order to lock and protect our belongins.

Other than that, this is a great hotel for the price...

The location is excellent for exploring within the Historic Colonial Area - just about everything in easy walking distance - even for this old man on a hot & humid day. Everything surrounding is pleasant, well maintained neighborhoods easy to walk through. This is an amazingly clean area and looks as though it should be far safer than American cities. In the hotel the floors are all clean shining tile.

The rooms are very small... the word tiny comes to mind - about 9' x 14'. Everything in the room is in good condition and squeaky clean. The problem is that there isn't enough of anything in the room. There is a bed with a sheet and pillows - no blanket and it is difficult to explain what a blanket is with an English/Spanish language barrier. I finally end up with what I believe must have once been a mattress pad some time back. There is no glass and the clerk wonders why I would want a drinking glass. There is one light - the ceiling light. Admittedly, after the ceiling light is turned off and one is going back to bed, the light from the A/C unit acts as a very welcome \"night light\". The room has a chair and a dresser with a TV mounted just over the top of the dresser - effectively killing some of the space available there. There are good, large drawers in the dresser where one can unload their clothes. That's good because there is no place to put a suitcase to \"live out of\" it. OOPS! Expedia DOES NOT ALLOW MORE INFORMATION - character limit.

The building was renovated and really pretty, the balconies overlooking the colonial zone really invited you to enjoy your morning coffee with a nice street view. Restaurants were right around the corner and a pretty park full of life and things to see. The price was great especially for the area it was located on. The room was a bit tight but it had everything you might need and perfect for a couple. Would amply recommend La Colonia to all my friends.

Solo tomar en cuenta que no tiene ascensor y que el baño de la habitación es extremadamente pequeño.

Excellent location, close to all the hustle-bustle of Santo Domingo. Rooms are clean, however the bathroom is very small, and one needs to adjust. It is like going to the bathroom in an aeroplane. The staff is courteous. Overall, a decent experience. Recommended if one doesn’t expect luxury.

Booked 2 nights and told them we would arrive very late, between 5 and 6am. When we arrived at 7 we were informed that our room was given away. We had to wait for an hour being totally exhausted after a very long journey. Then we were given the wrong room. We booked a room with two beds and got a room with only one.
When taking a shower, the whole bathroom floor was under water.
Okay stay for one night since it is cheap and just in the center, but next time we will def. pay more and so somewhere else.
