The staff are very helpful. We stayed in the new building at this property and found the room to be clean and sufficient. Beds were only twin-size, so a bit small for adults. The location was terrific, an easy walk into town, close to restaurants and sites. We went at the end of November and found it was also easy to walk to the Christmas market. It was quiet and safe.

I can’t say enough about this hotel- amazing cuisine at the restaurant, sauna, gorgeous rooms right in the heart of old town Torun. A truly unique property- and they went above and beyond- stored my luggage for over four hours as I waited for my train. Amazing restaurant staff found a way to charge my phone so I would have enough power for my journey to my next destination. Visit this hotel. It is truly a gem.

Lovely old converted mill in a great, walkable location at the edge of the old town. The staff were friendly and spoke English. The restaurant was very good, too. I highly recommend having a dinner there. The only reasons (very minor) I would not give 5 stars were: 1. There was a clicking noise from the lights in the hallway that bothered my (adult) kids all night. They told the front desk, but not sure if it was understood. 2. The duvets on the beds were small and difficult to keep our feet covered.
But these are very minor complaints. Overall we really enjoyed our stay of 2 nights at 1231.

We chose this property based on reviews of it being \"exceptional\" - it is very basic at best. We also chose it because the amenities listed washer and dryer were available, however there is none. Towels were thin, the room although large enough, had VERY little table space. Note that you have to carry your luggage up stairs to the property which can be difficult for some. Paid parking is down the street, and around the corner. When you unload your luggage you must park in the street as there isn't a place to pull into in front of the hotel. The spoon in the room was obviously dirty! I would not chose this property again.

Character and style in the heart of the old town

The beautiful building is built into the old city walls with a stream running out the front and under the building. Our window looked onto the ruins of the Teutonic Knights’ castle. It is tucked away behind the pedestrian street so it is very quiet but close to everything. The staff are lovely and couldn’t do enough for us. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The bed is big and the wifi is perfect. The bathroom is well finished. As our shower was in the spa bath you should check this with the hotel if you have mobility issues. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We booked the hotel at the last minute on a road trip around Poland. The location was perfect, part of the old castle complex but just a minute or two walk from the main street. The twin room had a great view but was quite small for two people. The food in the restaurant was excellent as was the breakfast buffet. Service was great throughout the stay.

The first two nights were dreadful as the room overlooked a children's play area which was a meeting place for drunken loud youths until early hours of the morning. When we moved to a room at the front we were able to sleep and began to enjoy our stay. The staff are pleasant, very helpful and accommodating. The waitress at breakfast is particularly gracious. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. The position of the hotel is perfect for the town and river area. A good hotel that we would not hesitate to book again requesting a room at the front!

The hotel is located in the old city, beautiful building, nice restaurant, excellent breakfast.
Reception is not looking great but the staff was helpful.
The rooms are small and not really charming. It was noisy because there was a party in the restaurant.
Excellent internet connection.
The bathroom was fine. Overall it is a good hotel, rates are good, so it is definitely a good option for a one night stay in Tórun.

Torun was an amazing city. The hotel was in an excellent location (just inside the walls, quiet and peaceful, about a 5 minute walk from the middle of old town). Our room overlooked the ruins of the castle which was lite beautifully at night. The rooms were clean and the bed very comfortable. The bar and patio provided a wonderful place for evening drinks and visiting with out friends. Friendly and helpful staff.

Wonderful Hotel next to City Gate and Castle

Stayed here before - still a Great Location and the Hotel Photos do not do it justice - even better with cobbled streets, City Walls and the restaurant next to the Mill race and Castle Gate complete with Towers - 5 minute stroll for a view of the River Vistula. A well designed modern Hotel using a Historic site and Building - truly splendid.
It is also very close to the Town Squares, 10 mins takes you from the peace and quiet directly into the Hustle and Bustle of beautiful Old Town Torun.

Hotel for a quiet birthday treat.

Week-end break, location a few minutes walk from the main streets so very quiet, yet close to shops, restaurants and museums, ideal location really. Asked hotel reception before we arrived to arrange flowers in the room and a taxi to transfer from Bydgoszsc airport. Everything taken care of, great service. Only draw back... the time to transfer from the airport about 50 minutes, but that's not the hotels fault. However, the restaurant although in a four star hotel did not offer a wine list for our evening meal until we asked for one, which is a little odd. So that's the only fault I could find. Thinking of a return visit next summer.

Happy to recommend Hotel 1231

I had booked this hotel for a recent visit to Torun for an event and booked three double rooms. Ideally, we'd have chosen twin rooms, but that didn't seem to be an option - and all other hotels in the area were booked.

A very warm welcome on arrival and checked-in without any issues - all staff we encountered were very efficient and professional.

The hotel and rooms are very clean and really quite modern. I'd had a few nerves booking for the group as the imagery on the website appeared quite dated - but the whole place looks completely different (much better) in the flesh. The beds weren't the comfiest, but a good night's sleep was had by all - it being just far enough away from the bars etc. The bathroom was very clean and modern.

Only ate breakfast at the hotel - no other meals - but that was very good with a choice of some hot dishes as well as the usual 'continental' buffet. Spent some time in the lovely bar area - again served by efficient and friendly staff..

The hotel is in a great location. Ten minute taxi ride, or a 25 minute walk, from the train station. The 'old town' is located just a two minute walk from the hotel and there's a great choice of restaurants and bars in that area.

Overall, the Hotel 1231 is a small friendly hotel and a very nice change from the regular chain hotels. Would be happy to recommend without hesitation and would be more than happy to stay there in the future if we find ourselves in the area again...

The hotel is very close to the walls of the medieval town. It is a five minute walk to the gingerbread museum. They have an excellent breakfast buffet. I have rarely seen such a clean hotel. The lobby smells particularly good which makes a very pleasant impression upon arrival. I highly recommend it and would definitely go back. We had an excellent stay!

A TOUCH OF CLASS IN tORUN

4 day stay in Torun- a beautiful Polish city. Hotel 1231 is a 13th century water mill, just on the edge of the old town, In walking distance of all the main tourist attractions in a pedestrian zone. It is near a children's playground, a 5 a side all weather pitch and basketball court. The hotel breakfast was superb, and the hotel was completely relaxed. Helpful, young staff who attend to your every need. We could not have chosen better, and the whole trip was remarkably cheap. A wonderful choice for a great City break. Roger

Hotel is very comfortable (as befits a 4* hotel). It is situated in the Old Town of Torun, so handy for shopping, walkabout, sightseeing etc. I stayed there in November and the room was cosy. Food is good, staff are very pleasant. I will stay there the next time I go to Poland - I've tried a few hotels and liked this one in particular. One small gripe is that smoking is allowed in the bar. Of course, that might suit some people.

We recommend this hotel highly. This hotel was rated number one in the city on another major travel site, and we do not disagree with that rating. We are retired Californians who have lived in Poland about half of each year during the last dozen years. We travel extensively in Poland as well as the rest of Europe.

The hotel is in a quite location only two or three hundred meters from the center of the city. The rooms were not large but are well designed, nicely decorated, and clean. The staff is very accommodating.

We highly recommend the restaurant both for its excellent food and modest prices.

An under padded mattress and a small shower stall were the only faults we identified in our room. This is an excellent hotel which we will choose again should we return to Torun.

We stayed here for an overnight on our way from Sopot to Warsaw. Short taxi ride from train station. We were able to walk into town easily and it was wonderful to have the hotel situated within the old city walls. The room was very basic, but had everything that we needed for an overnight stay. A Really Good Hotel, Modern Interior using an Old Building, the City Walls and Gate - Very pleasing to the Eye. Rooms were Very Comfortable and the Rooms Service was Excellent.
Breakfast was Buffet Style and Excellent with a wide choice and a cooked Breakfast was offered each day by the Waitress to your personal requirements.
Dined in the restaurant, the Food was Excellent and the Service Impeccable and then relaxed in the Bar for a Drink after a walk round this Fantastic medieval Town.
The Hotel is only 5 mins walk from the Town Centre but is situated in a very Quiet and pleasant area of Torun near the ruins of the Castle leading down to the River Vistula.
The Best Hotel I have stayed in the whole of Poland - Great for a Relaxing Holiday and visiting the sights of Torun.

We were very pleased with the hotel. It is clean, stylish and has a lot of character.

However there is always room for improvement and I make the following negative comments:

- mini bars in hotel rooms are not welcome with me. I prefer a fridge if anything.
- lager in bar not that cold and limited draft beer (hotel says there is a microbrewery but I think that must be a mistranslation).
- teenagers on the football pitch outside were playing until early hours of the morning (but couldn't hear them when window was shut).

As you can see I am having to be very picky to find any critisism! You won't be disappointed with this hotel.

\"A nice slice of history\"

Hotel 1231 comprises an old mill conversion and for that reason is somewhat \"quirky\" however it is very well located in a quiet area a short stroll from the town centre. The view of a centuries old castle from the bedroom window was charming. The room was small but relatively comfortable and acceptably clean. A thunderstorm/downpour on our one night stay caused the roof to leak (no doubt a problem in any very old building) in our room but as it was not near where we slept we ignored it and weren't swept away in a torrent during the night. The breakfast in the 'cellar' area was excellent. Parking is in an open lot about 300m away but is secure and cheap.

Hotel 1231 is one of my favorite hotels in Europe. It's a great value for a business traveler or tourist. Situated centrally in the lovely city of Toruń, the hotel provides comfort and excellent service.

The hotel's location is prime - near the river, overlooking ruins, and right in the center of the city.

The rooms are clean, comfortable, and modern. I was able to use WIFI easily.

The breakfast was a nice buffet - pretty standard for many European hotels, but good and fresh.

I will continue to stay here when I visit Toruń. I love the hotel, and I highly recommend it to both business travelers and tourists.

Hyggeligt hotel i den gamle bydel af Torun

Værelset jeg fik, var i den gamle del af hotellet, badeværelset er fint moderniseret, resten af værelset ikke moderne, håber det er bedre i den nye del af hotellet. (ved at stil er individuelt). Service er fin, morgenmad er okay, savnede dog yoghurt. Parkering ligger et par hundrede meter væk.
