We stayed here over the weekend, and I honestly couldn’t have been more disappointed. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff were inattentive and unfriendly. We reserved two rooms with 2 beds per room 4 months ago to have arrived and told that they no longer had enough rooms with 2 beds so had to bring us a spare mattress to use as a secondary bed . I was also blind sided with an additional beach cleaning tax once we started the check in. The hotel it self needs to be remodeled brought up to modern times also the floor near the pools was very slippery definitely should upgrade that area. The only saving grace was the breakfast, which was decent. I would not stay here again, and I wouldn’t recommend it to others.

The place is nice, clean but maybe need some updates. The elevators runs slow and weird. If u call for elevator from main floor to go up, somehow it takes you all the way down first before moving up. The staff are cool, only took 1 star out coz we checked in early which is not their fault but we kept being given false hope on early check in. Also, they need to update the restaurants. Marcopolo seem kind of pretentious coz there’s an expected dress code and restaurant’s vibe is like a steak house but staff either didn’t memorize the menu before opening or there’s just a language barrier. Also same restaurant, some menu description doesn’t match at all with the dish.

We stayed here last week and we had the time of our lives! Before I booked this resort I did go thru the reviews and it mentioned that food is quite repetitive and that amenities are that great but I would say the opposite, I believe that for the price that we paid this resort exceeded our expectations, I wouldn’t say the same for their restaurants but the food at the buffet is great! They changed their food every single time and some may became repetitive but that’s only for breakfast and sometimes lunch, I love how they always have themes during dinner, I also love the pool and the food they serve during the afternoon the staff are all great too! The hotel is very nice you can notice that it’s an old hotel but they made efforts in making it look like it’s up to date. Overall I would come back to this hotel.

The evening shows have the same group of dancers every evening. It is a family resort and multiple nights they had two guys, almost naked, dancing & rubbing each other like they were a couple in love. It was very offensive to young children and to straight couples. (One night it was a rock show, it was nice)
A lot of the guests could not find one available lounge pool chair bc some of the family group put one towel in two chairs and take 10 chairs while only four members are seating each time together.
Our room mattresses were so uncomfortable & hard. We upgraded our room but the mattress was still the same.
Buffett meals never served any kind of steaks, not even the skinny ones. It was only served at the restaurants, which you must reserve and pay additional prices for the better food.
The staff were nice. However I ordered some liquor cream to add in my coffee and the waiter recused to go get some from any the bars. The saddest part is that the bars only open at 11:00 am.
Front reception has ready nice drinks for arriving guests, when we asked to try one, they said no. It is only for arriving guests. However when we arrived they did not serve us any drinks because our flight was delayed. Nobody waited for us. We were VIP guests.
The hotel looks clean, bc they are constantly painting over mold and metal bathroom rusts. (I guess it works).
The location is beautiful. The food and mattresses are the worst part plus the two male dancers.

Dear Team,
I am writing to escalate concerns from my recent stay at GR Solaris Cancun Resort, which fell significantly below expectations.
1. Room Allocation & Handling (Primary Concern)
Despite booking a king bed, we were given two small double beds. No resolution was provided. We were asked to check out at 11 AM and wait until 3 PM for a new room—forcing us to wait 4 hours with valuables, which is unacceptable.
2. Misleading Lagoon View
The lagoon view room had a completely blocked view. Expedia images appear misleading.
3. Food Issues
Very limited vegetarian options; customization took excessively long.
4. Slow Service
Service across the resort was consistently slow.
5. No Drinks at Closing
No beverages were served near closing time.
6. Missing Basic Amenities
No dental kit available; we were asked to purchase one.
7. Room Key Issues
Key malfunctioned repeatedly despite multiple fixes.
8. Shuttle Mismanagement
Asked to be ready at 2 PM; shuttle arrived at 2:20 PM. The travel agent was unhelpful and rude. This delay risked missing our flight.
Overall, this experience was frustrating and not aligned with expected standards. I request a prompt response with corrective actions and appropriate compensation.

Great for families with kids but lacking adults only festivities! Night life was generally OK but lacked disco like dancing events for adults. 4.5 stars rounded up to excellent!!

The resort is well maintained. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The pool area is very nice with three pools and two are primarily for adults.

It was disappointing that with a five night stay we were only allowed to book reservations at the restaurants twice. That means we had to eat at the buffet for the majority of our dinners. They also did not have any late night food available. Which means after dinner you can't get any food until morning. It would be nice after having a few evening drinks to have something to eat. Also the food is just mediocre.

They promote the phone app but it's useless. The information is out of date and not accurate. They should also have descriptions of the shows. We went to the Sensation show and found it to be inappropriate for small children.

There was confusion between the staff. I exchanged my pool towels one day and was given the same stripped towels. The next day when I went to exchange them they told me the stripped towels were for members only. I was concerned because I didn't want to be charged for the towels. Also, when checking out I told the girl I left the pool towels in the room she was okay with it. About 15 minutes later our friends checked out and were told they had to return the towels to the front desk. I went back up and a different girl told me I had to return the towels and made me go get them. I almost missed my shuttle due to this.

I enjoyed our stay and would probably stay again if I went to Cancun.

The resort is large, and the rooms are spacious. I loved knowing that, as a VIP Silver member through Expedia, I received several benefits. However, the resort is not very clean. The pool was dirty, and outside by the beach, you can’t really swim because of all the seaweed, which is only cleaned once a week. The restaurants are always full, and it was impossible to make a reservation. There was really no nighttime show; I expected a bit more. The buffet food, however, is excellent and offers a great variety.

This is a pretty small hotel, which was actually nice is many ways. However, there are not a whole lot of activities for children to do. And it’s a very relaxed vibe.

Food options were very limited. We ate at the Mexican restaurant one night and it was honestly terrible, the food had no flavor which was very disappointing. The other nights we just ate at the buffet.

Two people from my party got food poisoning. I got food poisoning the second day we were there which pretty much put a damper on my whole trip.

The staff at this hotel is so friendly. Every single staff member I interacted with was very helpful and very very friendly. They are the best part of this hotel.

Room has very thin wall . You can hear people walked by talking , laughing very loud . I also can hear every words room next door we’re talking . Booked 2 double bed , got 1 king bed on both room . Hotel also did not give us room next to each other but gave the room to other guest. Bought 2 floaters , sun screen and 2 toy buckets ( to play with sand ) at resort cost total 400 Canadian dollars . Beware for guests buy all your need from home and get them in check in luggage will save you ton of money . The 2 toy buckets , we can buy at dollar store for maybe 5 dollars max . Last night was my nightmare because room next to me were talking so loud until midnight. Have approached them about loud noise but it didn’t help . If I ever go back not this resort for sure . Staff were great ( some. ) but make sure you give good tip at the dining room otherwise for a glass of water I have to ask several time .

Property and staff were amazing and friendly. Pool, bar and food is great. Rooms were little outdated with few minor issues. One thing about restaurants, the app shows a different menu what they actually offer on different days so it’s a good idea to check with restaurant on the actual menu rather than relying on the app. Also, if you get the Ocean view room, don’t expect the ocean view in front of you. You might have to go to your balcony and look at your left to see the ocean. There is a full chance your “Ocean View” might have a building view in front of you. The pictures are deceiving when you select the room.

En el check in la representante de expedia dijo que no nos podía atender ella porque no éramos VIP Access(cosa que era incierta ) y fue muy poco profesional la verdad. Luego nos atendió otra persona que si fue muy amable. La recreación, las actividades y las áreas comunes fueron muy buenas. La comida no era muy buena pero estaba aceptable. A la hora del checkout nos cancelaron el vuelo sin ninguna razón y la única opción que nos ofreció el hotel fue pagar la noche extra a un precio de hotel 7 estrellas, o nos teníamos que salir y la verdad fue muy frustrante porque ni la aerolínea ni expedía respondieron ante este suceso desagradable que no fue tampoco culpa nuestra .

The resort was wonderful, buffet restaurants- food was really good, all the staffs were very friendly and always available if needed, we had extra dinner restaurants which we could try, kids outdoor play area, indoor play area, kids water parks and our pool and the beach - was just awesome ..

Only few things to share
1. Don’t book taxy via the resort -3 times expensive, get uber from airport -17 min drive from airport
2. Get usd or pesos for tip and other purposes

Our room had a landscape view. I was disappointed that our white shower mat had mold spots and our shower had hair inside of the shower door. I told the front desk and they did Nothing about it. Room service to clean up only happened when we requested it and it mostly took place after 12pm. Food was not good and my stomach was upset maybe 3 days out the trip. They couldn't make me a banana and strawberry smoothie since they don't have bananas. Their virgin drinks seemed off like a syrup taste that I cannot describe. Definitely not made from fresh fruits. No steak available for free and mostly pork was in their restaurant. Very disappointed. Food remained the same throughout trip. You have to request bacon and hash browns and I found this out by looking at people from other tables. A lot of children which was fine since we had our daughter and we loved their daycare room. Very friendly staff and activities to keep kids entertained. Will not be returning. Oh and one of the restaurants brought my husband's dish out and the meat was still red inside. Food took forever to arrive at the restaurant you have to sign up for. You can only choose 2 through your trip which was another disappointment. To sum it all up: you get what you pay for. Kind staff though.

The staff was so rude, I’ve never been to an all inclusive that the staff was not overly polite and helpful. The food was DISGUSTING! Couldn’t get into a single restaurant in the resort the whole 6 days we were there. Charged us for my youngest daughter losing her wristband, $78 at the end. There was no food around the area to eat after 7pm. The buffet was miserable, same used food daily.

We really enjoyed our staying at GR Solaris. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The service and the amenities are top notch. Food and entertainment, especially the night shows, were excellent. Kids loved the playground area and the swimming pools, as well as the kids shows. We will most likely repeat our staying at this hotel if we travel back to Cancun! Perfect location just 10 min far from the airport and it has its own access to the beach.

Bathroom in rooms stank like sewage. Food was awful and slow, especially at Don Gus. Front desk area stops you every time pressuring you to do their timeshare presentation. My son’s girlfriend was accosted by entertainer by pool, forcing her to go in front of everyone and told to dance while they pour water over her and told to drink tequila without hands. Luckily she stood up to the bully but they boo’d her when she refused and walked away. Definitely not kid or teenage friendly resort. It was an awful experience. Will not be going back to this place ever.

While it's not a fancy 5 star resort, it is very clean and well organized. The app is not updated and would be helpful to have locations/descriptions and times each eatery are open (buffet, pizza, etc) and the one screen outside the saloon with the schedule is hard to find w/o staff help.

The activities, especially by the pool, were great for all ages! Kids ages 11-17 were beyond happy with the experience they had at this resort. Food was also really good and well rounded!

The reservations being a courtesy but not necessity, wasn't necessarily true. We waited over an hour for a potential table at Marco Polo because there was no reservation. It wasn't like we could put our name on a list and be told we'd be able to eat there that night.

The resort is billed as an all inclusive resort. It seems as though you have to be “a member” in order for that to be true. Alcohol was only supplied in the room if you’re a member. Full access to some restaurants only if you’re a member. The food was really not good. The entertainment was basic. The property seemed dated and needed work. The kids area was non existent. I have stayed at RUI properties before and will stick to that brand from now on.

The resort has a more \"boutiquey\" comfortable feel compared to other large resorts on the strip. The condition was impeccable and staff very friendly. Only improvement I could suggest is a better gym facility. It's small with limited equipment and well used. Maybe adding a spin bike or a multi-cable system, and larger space. Otherwise, we loved our stay.

Our stay at GR Solaris in Cancun was disappointing. First, the quality of the food was not what we expected, and one of us fell ill with food poisoning that night. The following day, health inspectors were on-site, as several guests had reported food poisoning from the same meal. Additionally, at check-in, the staff were not helpful; we weren’t informed about the hotel amenities, how to book, or the location of security. Despite being VIP Expedia members with a VIP dinner included, it was never provided. Furthermore, the bathroom had issues: the drains were not working properly, and the sink faucet was leaking. Noise between rooms was excessive, making it feel like guests were in the same space. Overall, it was a poor experience, and we do not recommend this hotel.

Very bad service at ZAI restaurant. The service guy was extremely rude and had no patience at all. I was simply asking for an introduction to the menu, but he responded in a very impolite and unfriendly way and even raised his voice at us. This kind of attitude is unacceptable in a restaurant.

In addition, when the pork chop was served, there was no knife and fork provided, which made it very difficult to eat. The overall dining experience was uncomfortable and disappointing. I would not recommend this place unless they seriously improve their customer service and staff attitude.

My stay at GR Solaris was amazing. The staff including pinto and many others went above and beyond. The cleanliness of the hotel is outstanding, Room was exceptional every day and the cleaning staff was amazing! I would say more options for food. Only 1 breakfast buffet/option sometimes you had to wait in line but only 10 -15 minutes. Getting a Reservation wasn't easy was booked every time, but we were able to just walk in without an issue a few times.
I would reccomend in this price category for sure! Beach is beautiful and pools fun and entertaining.
At night they had Entertainment and the shows were very good!

We really enjoyed our stay here! The Expedia check-in process was very quick and organized. We enjoyed the wonderful pools and all of the daily activities and the poolside special lunch themes. We ate in all 3 of the restaurants and we liked Zai and Don Gus. We did not enjoy Marco Polo as much, the menu was limited and the portions were small. A big shout out to the great pool-side bartenders (Nelson+Alfredo)! The nightly planned entertainment was very good also. We had a small issue with our A/C being too cold but they came up and fixed it. After 9pm there is nowhere to go to get a light snack everything is closed. They should serve some small snacks in the lobby bar since it is open until midnight and people are drinking and socializing. Overall we had a great stay here and I would recommend this resort.

Our stay had some highlights, but overall was frustrating due to poor organization and communication.Check-in lacked any guidance—we weren’t shown where anything was or how to get to our room. Staff was not welcoming We were asked to sign for a “free upgrade,” which felt strange, and our bags were taken but never delivered.Dinner reservations were a major issue. We were told to wait before booking on the app, only to find nothing available for our entire stay. The only options were the buffet (which we didn’t want every night) or lining up at restaurants right at 6 PM for a waitlist. One of the 3 restaurants is only open Tuesday- Thursday. We were also unexpectedly asked to pay a $100 deposit in cash and sign a damage form after check-in, which felt disorganized. A manager eventually allowed a credit card.The Mexican restaurant was very good, but the buffet—especially breakfast—was disappointing with long lines and limited food. Bars didn’t open until 11 AM, which was inconvenient. There was a $6 charge for room service. Positives: the beach and ocean were beautiful, clean, and well-maintained, and the pool grill was a good option for casual food.Overall, the resort has potential, but the lack of communication, dining availability, and organization really impacted our experience. Would not say this is a 5 star resort.

Overall start rating 5 besides entertainment and amenities (talking about basketball court,fusball and pool table) since you had to provide your ID to get the balls and parts for the games that were missing. I personally think that all the equipment should be readily available for people to use at all times, why don't you buy more basketballs and have them stored in a large bins at the court so people can enjoy the game! Unfortunately when the weather isn't great there isn't much to do and extra stuff are only available for members only.

A huge thank you to the kitchen staff for accommodating our sons Celiac disease and his special dietary needs. Ricoroberto was excellent and he made sure that every piece of food was prepared safely for him and every day he was asked what he would like to eat so it wasn't repetitive.
One night the kitchen chef came out and brought a GF dessert for him, we were very happy.
I can confidently say that this place is Celiac safe ands friendly and that's hard to find even in US.

Hotel is very clean, the room was nice and clean. The food was good. The staff is very nice, specially in the buffet Guadalupe, Michelle and Eilan.
I only gave it 4 stars because it needs umbrellas on the beach (there is not even one) and if you want something to drink while at the beach you have to go get it yourself.

I enjoyed our stay, we had the deluxe ocean front view room.
Despite what some people have said, I only heard noise coming from people leaving their rooms when they walked by our doors.
The food was good and the service was fantastic. The only drawback was I was unable able to make a reservation for their a la carte times. It kept coming up as an error, but we went out to eat instead.

The pools and the staff were excellent. The staff were very welcoming and fun, getting people involved in the activities was great and not weird or pushy. The room was clean, but the bathroom looked like it had been only partially remodeled. The mirror was peeling and you had to really maneuver the sink faucet to get it to shut off but the shower was very nice! The food was not fantastic, but not bad. I have a dairy allergy so my options were more limited, but for the most part I was able to find decent options at every meal. Aside from the minor cosmetic things, it was overall a really great stay.

Overall yes the property is nice but compared to other resorts we just didn't think it was worth it. Upon check in we were required to give a $100 deposit in pesos when we informed the staff that we unfortunately did not have pesos only our credit cards they stated that they would not be able to give us our room without the deposit. After going to the atm to retrieve the pesos we were hit with another fee that we had to pay that was $12 USD. what was weird to me was that on the paper they told us to keep track of so we would get our deposit back was a “spring break fee” didnt know that was a thing but ok. Ontop of the deposit slip we also had to keep track of our room cards, bracelets, and towel cards. room cards and bracelets i understand but the towel cards?? most resorts just let you get a towel coming and going from the pool areas. When we got to our room it was noticeably smaller than previous resorts we had been too you could tell it had been recently upgraded by the flooring in the restroom that was done incorrectly. When getting into bed at night we noticed that one of the decorative pillows and also the bed sheets had stains, we also noticed that the mini fridge in our room didn’t work, the beverages that it had were warm. One of the nights we were in the jacuzzi around 7:04 with another couple and a family, mind you the jacuzzi has an adults only sign. we were all in our own conversations but a worker came up to us only and stated that the jacuzzi area was now close

I picked this resort based off of reviews so I’d like to share my perspective on details I wish I would have known. Let’s start with the pros: the customer service was excellent and the property is very well maintained.
Now for the cons: the walls are paper thin. We could hear everything around us which made sleeping well not easy. The staff would begin cleaning fairly early and were very loud: Talking loudly and moving furniture. I could hear conversations the people next to us were having as if they were in the room with me.
Next, the food was average but I suppose that is to be expected at an all inclusive. We brought our 14 year old daughter and there were not any activities for kids her age. It definitely seemed more of a place for families with young kids. It’s hard to know which resorts are best for teens since they consider ‘kids’ 12 and younger. So I wish we had known more about the typical age ranges and activities available. Overall, our stay was ok. I rated it a bit lower mainly due to the beds and pillows not being very comfortable and the noise issues in the rooms.

Clean room. Great staff. The pool and activities are very good. But a couple of things could be better:
1. Limited and repeated food items in buffet. Specially if you’re vegetarian or have dietary restrictions, your options would be salad, fruit and bread.
2. We stayed for 6 days and were given only 2 restaurant reservations. They only have 3 restaurants. For a 5-star, that is low (especially if you compare it to other properties in the hotel zone).
3. The staff forgot about a pre-paid birthday package I booked for my husband. When I called to check, they remembered and did the decor but they forgot to change the drink to non-alcoholic as per my request. We got it changed later but that was disappointing on the birthday night.
4. The swim up bar, pizza bar and cafe close by 6. So if you’re coming back from a tour in the evening and want to take a dip and enjoy the facilities, you cannot.
5. They have a $100 Mexican Pesos charge for room service. For an all-inclusive, this is an extra charge that most other hotels do not have. So that wasn’t something we were aware of.

Otherwise, the location is great. The pool is wonderful. The breakfast spread is very good. The lobby bar that opens at 11 AM is also wonderful and has lots happening each night. The theatre has shows every night that are different and wonderful. The kids club had activities between 4-5 PM like face painting, etc that are good too.

I would rate this place a 3.5/5 and call it a 4 star at best.

We have stayed at the GR for about 10 years. Unfortunately, we are looking to try a different resort next year. We were just somewhat disappointed with some of the changes. We have gotten upgrades in the past, but they wouldn’t move us across the hall to a partial ocean view and they were NOT full.. The towels were very dingy and kinda nasty.. The staff were nice enough, but it was just different…. Also, the hot tub was pretty gross…. The entertainment wasn’t as good as it had been, and I think several of the entertainment staff have left with a change in the management. The evening entertainment was soooo loud it made it hard to sit through. They only gave us two bottles of water in our room, and there were 3 of us. When we asked for more water, they were reluctant to give us more. They wanted us to continue to use the same plastic bottle for a week and fill them at the water station down the hall. They now charge a small fee for room service. Never had that before. Again, the staff were friendly enough, but all of the small things added up and we were overall a little disappointed.
