Staff were friendly, check in was easy. Room was absolute bare minimum and quite old - not even a box of tissues supplied, but basic amenities provided. Rooms are not new or modern, but clean enough.

To top it off, a fire alarm going off at 4.00am in the morning twice due to the vents in the bathrooms not working great and setting off the smoke alarms. Definitely a very budget hotel, wouldn’t stay again!

I paid $109 for one night, standard Ibis rooms (small but all you need) however, the sheets on the bed had rips in them, the jug had mold in it, and the bathroom was grungy. The 3 stars is only for price, everything else could have been avoided with care or a clean.

On arrival, the staff member told me that my booking would have been automatically cancelled if I'd arrived after 8pm, even though the check-in time is listed as being up to 10pm. It’s a budget hotel and you don’t expect anything more than the basics… they were lacking however. Staff incl the manager who weren’t really interested in helping… rooms that are old l, tired and lacking cleanliness…. My room wasn’t serviced once during my 4 night stay

He mentioned the process will be that I'll get a text with pin to their locker box that will have key card. The text will have room number.

When I reached there midnight, fortunately someone was taking out their key card from the locker. So I got mine. But no room number was mentioned.
After calling emergency number twice I was given the room number.

We requested with a lot of anticipation a ground floor room as they don't have elevator and we were carrying heavy baggage but they did not respond. Upon arrival they gave us a 3rd floor room and the person on the counter did nothing to help and I had to carry the luggage even though I am injured of my left ankle. Also, corridors smelled to Marijuana a lot in 3rd floor and stairs were really dirty. Definitely not coming back. At least, the room was OK cleaned.

Although this property shows as accessible, that is only on the ground floor as there is no lift. We were originally allocated a 3rd floor room, my partner is disabled and struggles with stairs. The night manager offered us a change of room to the first floor with one flight of stairs. Then she was able to get us a ground floor room, although the bathroom light was highlighted to us as not working, not ideal. We arrived late and had informed the property of our late arrival and requested a late check in, although we did not receive any correspondence on how to gain access. As stated above we did manage to contact the night manager who gave us the code for the night safe to retrieve our key. Although a budget hotel I expect clean bed covers. The duvet which did not have a cover on it was urine stained, which is not acceptable. This was not the best experience.

Rooms are very noisy, with the hotel right in the airport flight path. Flights appeared to cease in the evenings, however a truck outside made lots of noise around 2:30 am, followed by a fire alarm in the hall at 4:30.
As we had an appointment at 6:30am elsewhere, followed by a long road trip, our choice of Ibis left us wrecked all day.

Found a cockroach within the first 30 seconds of entering our room. Shower was questionable, the vent was a whole in the ceiling. Floors were never cleaned for the entirety of our stay (12 days) despite asking for room cleaning service and leaving the sign out at the door every day. Sheets had stains and hairs that were not ours. Limited storage areas, we had to put stuff on the small table, stool, and floor (which we wanted to avoid due to the uncleanliness of the floor). The rooms didn’t smell good, it smelled like sewage.
At least they had a water station to fill water bottles and the bed was really comfortable and big but that’s as far as the good things go.

Staff need to actually do their job and the whole place needs better cleaning staff because they don't clean the room and everything is falling apart the door handle the bathroom the toilet seat is broken etc. Compared to other Ibis this is so poor

I have contacted Ibis about this stay numerous times and they have not responded to me after 2 months.
So…the room I was given was dirty, and mouldy with broken items ie sink had a large piece of wood hanging off underneath and the blind would not close.

There is mold on the ceiling, mold on the walls, mold everywhere except, remarkably, the bathroom. There is graffiti under the bunk that could easily have been covered if anyone had bothered. If we were staying for more than a night I would have complained but it's not worth it. People smoking in their rooms making the hallway stink. No elevator. This place is wild. I can't believe I paid over $150 for this room

The property was comfortable, easy to locate and fairly convenient to get to by bus and train from Sydenham station. However, the TV and the AC in our room were not working and we requested the staff to fix them or move them to another room. That is when our ordeal began. The staff took our key when we left in the morning and promised to shift us or move our luggage to another room when we returned. We came back around 10 pm and found that the front door was locked. We had no way of calling as we had just arrived in Australia and had no local number. We somehow managed to enter the hotel with the help of another gentleman who was staying there, but found that the reception was locked. There was an emergency phone in the lobby which didnt work. We were stuck and didnt know what to do. None of the staff were around. Finally we managed to call the emergency number from another guests phone, a lady picked up on the other end and very brusquely asked us to wait for sometime. When she finally came, we asked her why the door was locked and how we were expected to enter our room when there were no staff around and they had our key. She was very rude and said we had to call them and ask them to leave our key. We said we had no way of calling as we had just arrived and had no local sim. They had our whatsapp but didnt call us either. The whole experience was very unpleasant and left a bad mark on our otherwise wonderful Australia trip.

There was some loud rubbish bin collections at about 3am both nights from Macdonalds, the noise even made it through the double glazed window.
The amount of rubbish and litter in the gardens, carpark, footpath and gutters was distressing and horrible.

I have stayed in quite a few ibis budget hotels and being a budget option my expectations aren’t usually very high. But this would have to be the worst of this chain that I had stayed in. Customer service on check in was ordinary. Couldn’t use the parking I paid for overnight (they either over booked their parking or don’t check that it is ibis guests only parking there), the cleanliness of the room was below par, the aircon/heating unit was noisy and as such couldn’t be used when I was trying to sleep, and the place smelled of sewerage. This one is in desperate need of renovations and a better cleanliness standard at the very least. The only good things were the bed was comfortable and at least that was clean enough, and it was within close proximity to UNSW. But I’ll probably avoid staying here again.
