The location was perfect. At the end of Mondello with stunning views. Many pools and cute little rock beach to jump in the ocean.
Rooms were ok too. The only thing was that the property needs maintenance and updating. The climb to \"torre\" is dangerous and they really should not allow anyone going there until is fixed (there is no sign of fixing anything, btw).

Az étteremben vacsoráztunk, gyors és figyelmes volt a kiszolgálás, jóízű az étel. A szoba kényelmes és nagyon tiszta volt, egyetlen negatívum, hogy a fürdőszobában a WC lehúzása után a csővezeték berezonált, sípolt, zavarta a pihenést.

This hotel was ok. We mainly booked it for the pool and view of the ocean. Definitely needs updating. Our first night our room was so hot, we eventually realized the AC wasn't working at all until we asked to move rooms and it was much better in the second room. The staff was ok. Pool and ocean access is great and if you keep walking past the pool there is a private beach club guests also have access to. Big spread for breakfast and lunch was decent too. Easy walk into town.

Our booking was to include a balcony with chairs and a table. The room we were given only had a balcony a foot wide. We were booked in for four nights but they could not move us to a balcony room for two nights . We decided not to move as we would have to pack and unpack again. In compensation, the hotel gave us two nights dinner for free. The receptionist Carla did all she could to help us and has our thanks.

The hotel is an easy 10/10!! The property is gorgeous and conveniently located to the piazza and a hiking trail. The resturaunt is definitely one of the best ones on Mondello strip as well!The pool was lovely and we used it everyday, they also have ocean access too. I stayed for 5 nights and six days with 3 travelers, we were properly accommodated. The staff were very helpful with any needs or questions. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay in Sicily!

The location is spectacular with amazing views across Mondello beach. We had a great meal at the restaurant with a terrace table with spectacular views and the pool was great (only one open when we visited, 1st week of June, other shared with public pools were due to open the next week). Our room was clean and lovely with great aircon and balcony views. Access from the pool down to Crystal clear ocean. We liked the 60s decor that some found dated. The reason review not better is that our room key just wouldn’t work after the first 2 times. This is clearly a recurring problem and the staff at reception can be bordering on rude as they are clearly frustrated working in a place where basic infrastructure doesn’t work. Some staff, particularly the cleaning staff and some restaurant staff were very friendly, especially if you made the effort to speak Italian, but others were quite bad-tempered and grumpy. It doesn’t seem a happy workplace. Having said that, the price was reasonable and if all those niggles were sorted out I’m sure it would be much more expensive. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would consider booking again.

The hotel is the worst among the 5 hotels we stayed in on the trip to Sicily for 10 days. It is also the worst I have ever stayed in all over Europe. It is not the cheapest though. The shower stall is extremely small with the door not sealed at all, shower head is positioned poorly resulting in flooding in the bathroom. The balcony furniture is rusty with chipped floor that is dangerous to walk on bare foot or sit on; the room doesn't have a single glass, all flimsy plastic cups. The hotel makes a big deal to give just a few cups of ice. The extra pillows were not covered with any pillowcases. The state of the hotel is beyond unsanitary and unsafe. It should be shut down for a complete gut renovation. The town Mondello is a dump. Would not recommend anyone to waste a single second.

Amazing on Mondello Bay

Wonderful oceanfront location. Walking distance to shops and local restaurants. Friendly checkin and room staff. Breakfast buffet and other menu choices at the restaurant were fantastic. Restraunt and bar manager was lovely and patient with my limited Italian language skills. Looking forward to returning to the Splendid.

The first night the air conditioning didn’t work, but we asked them to take a look at it and they were able to fix it. It ended up being an ice box in our room but the cold was better than the heat. There was no control system, so you either have to have the air conditioning on or off. The blow dryer didn’t really work either. Other than that, the hotel was great. Pool was convenient. Breakfast was great. There wasn’t really ocean access because it didn’t seem safe to swim there, but the beach is so close. It’s walking distance to so many restaurants, grocery stores, and to the beach. They were able to call a taxi for us, which was helpful.

The staff was confusing and misleading regarding the half-board / full-board options. At check-in we were told we had the option to decide day-by-day, and the next day a very rude and unpleasant manager(?) said the contrary, stating that half-board had a 3 day minimum and 24 hours advance notice, which was not at all what we were told on the first day upon check-in.

The hotel can also benefit from a renovation, as it seems like it has not been renovated since its opening.

This is such a unique property. You can tell that it was the place to stay in its day (felt post WW II). I really enjoyed staying there and I felt like I was in a time warp. The hotel has defiantly seen better days and could use some work. Staff was a tad surly at times but overall decent. The entire wait staff was dressed as if they were working a five-star restaurant. I would totally stay there again!

What a fantastic Hotel!
Immaculately clean, with beautiful spacious rooms, well appointed bathrooms and amazing breakfast area with panoramic views of the sea and mountains.
The outside space is amazing too, with a huge terrace for an afternoon drink, surrounded by the sea. And choice of large pool with huge sundeck, or private rocky beach, with steps into the sea.
The Hotel is located near the Nature Reserve away from the noisier parts of Mondello, but is within easy walking distance to the Main square and Pier etc.
This was one of our designated travel days, but I wish we had longer to enjoy this lovely Hotel.
I only have one criticism is that is that the rooms aren't well soundproofed, so one can hear one's next door neighbour moving around their room. But everything else about this Hotel is fantastic.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights as a last minute plan. The location is really ideal for Mondello which is what makes staying here worth it! The pool is really nice and has a bar (with limited options), however there is a snack bar if you walk a little further to the public area and we went here every day for lunch! As far as the hotel itself it’s definitely a little dated and could use renovations but was still clean. Parking was extremely limited and there is not enough for hotel guests - we got lucky and got a space and didn’t move our car the rest of the time there. The beds are not the most comfortable and one of the shutters was off the track, but that’s not a huge deal. Definitely get the sea view room (otherwise probably wouldn’t be worth staying there). The views are incredible from the restaurant and breakfast on the top floor. We did use the gym once and all the equipment is very old but definitely useable and plenty of space to workout. I would recommend staying here if you want to be in the quiet area of Mondello but still walking distance to all the restaurants at night.

This hotel was fine but not great for me. The salt water pools were closed which I which I was notified about when I booked my stay, otherwise I would have stayed somewhere else. The concierge wasn't very helpful when I asked about activities my friend and I could do while there. One day there was a man going around taking pictures of me and my friend in bathing suits and there was no staff around to help us. I didn't feel very safe here. I did like the restaurant and that breakfast was included.

Great location and lovely staff. I had a Seaview room which had an incredible view. The pool was lovely, very clean and the guys that maintained it were lovely. However it was so over chlorinated that your eyes stung.

However the hotel is very dated, the aircon in the room hardly worked, getting hot/cold water was sometimes hit and miss, and the common areas ie hallways were not vacuumed or clean. The outdoor wooden pathway railings eg down to the sea platform were dangerous, falling apart and not maintained for years. Same at the next door complex.

I found that the inside of the hotel was very basic. Could really have done with some modernisation. My room didn’t really have a view. An old kettle was provided with paper cups and no cream. I didn’t have any hot water for the first couple of days which was bizarre as I know it worked in other rooms.
Saying this I didn’t really care so much as the pool area was perfect for me with a pool bar close at hand and stunning

After I read the reviews I didn't expect too much from this place. Dropped few emails to the hotel, didn't get any response back. Booked the taxi through the link provided by the hotel, however no one met us in the airport. Got to the hotel by getting a taxi from the outside of the airport (more expensive of cause). We came for our 10th wedding anniversary and booked a sea view room. We was not offered any upgrades or gifts for a special date, however we didn't expect anything, so was not disappointed. Once we arrived we were met by a lovely receptionist, who apologised for all the inconvenience. I must say all of them were brilliant: really friendly, helpful & spoke a good English. Room was a bit outdated, but cozy, bright and sparkling clean with amazing sea views! It was properly cleaned daily. The only downside was a restaurant: staff a bit slow, poor menu and average quality of food, overpriced. Poorest buffet breakfast: croissants, ham, 1 salami & 1 cheese. No choice, what killed me the most, was an instant coffee. So we ended up having food outside. The views at the bar, restaurant and pool were amazing: mountains vs sea! No issues with sunbeds, staff was trying quickly to facilitate all the guest and sanitized all the sun beds. Privite sea entrance, which may not be good for kids, but there was a lovely spacious pool with sea water and a beach (a bit rocky) around the corner. Public beach with turquoise water & restaurants just 5 minutes walk. Amazing stay!

Besides the view, not worth the stay. My fiancé and I encountered issues getting into our room due to issues with the room key. We counted a total of 5 times that we had to go down to the front desk and wait till someone either gave us a new key or assisted in opening the door for us. The rooms were not very clean, too many mosquitoes inside of the room, and no shower curtain. Lastly, there is a small menu to select from for lunch and dinner.

To get room I had to wait for 2 hours. I got room key @ 2.10pm. When I went to the room house keeping just started cleaning. I had to wait in lobby for 40Mts to get room ready.

Safe deposit vault wasn’t working. Room temperature was very hot. When I asked they said they started AC just before so it will take 5 Mts to get cool. After 30/40 Mts some one came & repaired Safe.

AC wasn’t even working by that time. I again called reception they said they have problem & going to take 1/2 hours.

FinLy @ 5pm I got another room which was okay.

I'm guessing this was a good quality hotel in the 1970's and 80's. Sadly it has not aged well. All furniture, fixtures and fittings are a little tired. Nevertheless the service was friendly and courteous.

The view from the hotel was beautiful. There’s a bus stop outside the hotel. The staff was really accommodating. The woman that worked there was so sweet. We enjoyed talking to everyone! If you want a hotel with a pool by the water this is the place to stay. It had the most beautiful terrace outside the lobby. A great stay! It rained while we were there otherwise it would have been 100% amazing.

The hotel was old and the floor that we were located on had a huge glass door which was broken into a million pieces and just sitting there. The parking area for which we had to pay $10 was jammed packed with very minimal space to even park let alone turn around in. The outdoor parking lot was not available since it was super packed. We booked a room with two separate beds but were initially given a room with one bed. After complaining to the front desk staff, we were given the correct room. I personally feel that the room was not spacious and very small.
The hotel overall needs a major renovation. It looks like a place from the 1970s!

In need of maintenance and upgrades

The area is very busy during end of July and August but a nice group of restaurants. Hotel was somewhat clean but very dated and in need of maintenance. The rooms with ocean view are nicer It is not a 4 star resort by American standard it’s a 2 Star. We booked a family room which just means 2 twin beds pushed together and another twin. Shower is a half door and there is no way of avoiding getting the entire floor wet. Pools were okay, not well maintained and the “stairs” are made of rotting wood. The best thing is access to the ocean but only for great swimmers as it has lots of rocks and a hot uncomfortable walk to the sand beach. Food is overpriced and not good. I would not return or recommend.

Sea side hotel proximal to Palmero Airport

The hotel staff went out of their way to help me when I arrived but my luggage didn't. They called lost baggage services at the airport and were able to help me work with them to achieve my luggage. I was upgraded to a sea view room with patio rather than balcony upon check-in. The room and view were very nice, clean and comfortable.

Parking was very easy to access and the internet worked well.

We chose the least expensive rooms in the hotel, twin beds no view. The room was kept really cold and the linens were very white, clean and smelled good!! The staff was helpful. We loved meeting in the morning and winding down at night on the beautiful veranda facing the sea. Location was great. Close to restaurants and beach.

Beautiful but beach is not at facility. No coffee

Beautiful facility but it does not have a beach. You can access the Mondello beach but it is a full 15 minute walk and you have to rent chairs and umbrellas, very crowded and loud. Big pool but many Unwatched children while we stayed. Direct access to Meditterean but will not be able to touch bottom. You must be a strong swimmer, lots of currents, wonderful if you are a good swimmer.

Very helpful, English speaking staff.

The hotel is showing her age but her seaside location and very good staff more than make up for the worn carpets in the halls.
If I were to make any suggestions to make it a more attractive stay I would recommend some kind of coffee maker in the rooms. At present there is not even a kettle.
