I stayed at the Lumen Zwolle Hotel in August 2025 for three nights.

This is a serviceable business hotel with an on-site restaurant. No am

The hotels room are standard size, with a nice bathroom and a large desk. My room had a king size bed which was clean and comfortable. The room also has a coffee machine and an in- room small refrigerator.

There is a small workout room with outdated basic equipment, but it has the essentials for guests trying to stay fit on the road.

There is also a very large lounge with a bar and a large amount of casual seating for reading, doing work and meeting for groups.

The attached restaurant, The Bluefinger, is a typical large open style of restaurant, similar to the Van Der Valk hotels.

I visited only for breakfast, and the food selection was quite good, with fresh meats, fruits, cheeses, and assorted Dutch standard breakfast breads. you may also order a freshly made omelet and French toast from the grille.

As I mentioned, this is a business hotel, with few amenities. It is located in a gated shopping area and is attached to other stores and a casino.

Basically, this hotel is for sleeping, eating, and meetings if you have business.

I will return when I visit Zwolle again.

Business trip

On arrival the reception staff verbalised conflicting information regarding pricing and parking. However after speaking to the dury manager Laurie who listened to our chaotic introduction to the hotel, she resolved the situation and we began to feel more relaxed. We dinned in the restaurant for dinner and it was tasty so we decided to have lunch the following day also. Gluten free option available and tasty gf bread. Great to see our 2 little dogs were welcomed also.

The outside of the hotel is not inviting, being part of a stadium complex. However, inside is a modern, stylish and comfortable place to spend one or two nights. The staff are very professional. The restaurant is good, as is the breakfast selection. The rooms are a good size. Plenty of parking for a small charge. There is a walking route to the centre of Zwolle but it takes 30 minutes.

Very pleasant stay in a boring looking building

Modern, comfortable hotel with nice amenities and great restaurant. Nice big bathtub and separate shower. The only thing missing is a door to the bath/shower room... so it can feel drafty and cold even while enjoying a hot shower or bath. Staff was friendly, and the restaurant management and chefs were great. I rarely find hotel dining to be worth it, but this was. Also, the breakfast was good. Parking is super easy and cheap (5 EUR/24 hours), and it has easy access to major roads and is a short distance drive from the city center.
Unfortunately, like many hotels, there is only one thick dekbed (blanket/comforter). It was definitely warm enough, but when it becomes too warm the only option is to throw it off until you get cold. It would be much nicer if there were a thinner one and an extra optional layer.

We booked this hotel last minute as we walked away from a reservation elsewhere. The hotel is brand new snd well thought out. Parking was right at the hotel and reception validated our parking. We ate dinner at their restaurant and it was really good. The breakfast buffet was really good as well. Despite the size of the hotel, it was very quiet. Reception staff were very friendly and welcoming.

The mattress was very soft(styrofoam)and the hotel did not have any alternatives. When we complained the answer was that all the rooms had the same beds.
Finally we had to sleep on the baseboard for three days!!.
Will not return again.

A light-filled hotel

Lumen Hotel doesn't look like much from the outside of the building, but inside it is light filled & contemporary.
We stayed three nights.
We ate one time at the breakfast buffet & we were very pleased with that. We were charged too much for the parking & the hotel clerk was pleasant about changing it to the right price. The room was clean and comfortable. The shower was an experience. We liked the toilet & sink in two separate rooms so we could get ready at the same time.
Lumen is a nice place to stay!

The actual hotel is very nice, comfortable, spacious and furnished to a new standard with good bathroom. I think the food prices are bit high within the hotel, the overnight parking charge a bit excessive seems as though need a vehicle to get there and there is a lack of rooms that have twin beds.

2 nights stay in Zwolle

It definitely had everything I liked except for two things. One is that it is kind of distant from the city center but that's was fine since I wanted my hotel room to be modern and that's what I can get. Second is the heating unit inside the room. It doesn't get as warm as I like so I had to wear a sweater whenever I am in the room.

Comfortable Hotel Within Easy Reach of Major Roads

The Lumen Hampshire is a large, comfortable hotel, with all reasonable amenities: refrigerator, safe etc. It is within the local soccer stadium so very easy to find and within an easy bus ride of the beautiful centre of Zwolle. The staff were all very polite and helpful.

Clinical efficiency without soul

The hotel is very new and so it is in excellent condition and spotlessly clean. th elocation is about ten miutes from the city centre and there is nothing within walking distance a taxi was about 15 Euro from the train station. This means that everytime you want to eat out or go to a supermarket or retaurant you must take a taxi,there is simply nothing in the neighbourhood. All the staff I encountered were quite young, and I suspect it was there second job while the were studying. The service was very efficeint with out being personnal.The architecture is very modern and leaves you feeling like it is just a big empty space with no soul. In many ways it is the perfect modern hotel that is completely forgettable once you leave. It provides a clinical cold very effecient service that could be any hotel anywhere on the planet.

Nice Rooms but...

Lovely spacious rooms with good amenities, enjoyed the complimentary morning coffee as well as the nespresso machine in the room.
Unfortunately had a bad experience with one of the front desk staff. My partner left early in the morning, and left me to check out. When I went to the front desk, I was told that he had had breakfast. I paid the charge and went on my way. I found out after speaking with him that the breakfast charge was an error, and he had not eaten anything. It was incredibly difficult to get the charge refunded as the hotel told us we had to prove that he hadn't eaten (not really possible!).
We would not go back here if in the area again.

Friendly service, excellent choice of UK TV (BBC1 & 2, all of Channel 4's channels and even a couple of ITV channels), an actual double bed, not twins pushed together (shame about the synthetic mattress protector, lead to a bit of a sweaty night) and good Nespresso machine. Free Internet service is inadequate (100MB download will hardly let you refresh Facebook, never mind power through email) but they gave me a voucher for unlimilted access so not really an issue. Restaurant menu adequate rather than extensive and cooked breakfast range could be improved. Air con also seemed unresponsive, so bit chilly. Nice bar.

Det er 3. gang vi har overnattet på Lumen og vi kan virkelig anbefalede hotellet.
Personalet er meget hjælpsomme og imødekommende.
Restauranten er virkelig god .

Schönes Hotel mit netten Mitarbeiter/-innen

Es ist ein schönes Hotel. Das Zimmer, was wir hatten, war ziemlich geräumig.
Nur der Safe war bei der Ankunft nicht zu öffnen. Es wäre besser, wenn man so etwas vorher überprüft. Ansonsten jedem zu empfehlen.
