A little gem on the algarve situated in a quiet little village The hotel needs updating in the bedrooms which they are doing but the food was superb and delicious lots of choice to suit every taste bud 😋. The staff were amazing nothing was too much trouble they were friendly and very efficient could not praise them enough Maria remembered our room number after a couple of times which was good considering the amount of people there. Ideal location to the beach and the hotel was kept very clean. Would recommend to friends and would return for a quiet and relaxed holiday

We absolutely enjoyed the beach, pool and breakfast and were charmed by the stray well behaved cat that frequented the outside lounging areas. The resort should thank the local cats for holding down any rodent problem by getting them fixed and providing a small area for them within the grounds where they could be fed and given fresh water daily. That investment would cost less than any exterminator service and ensure the stray cat population was properly managed.

The view from our terrace was lovely. However, the tennis court, mini putt golf holes, water feature in the back by the swing set all needed maintenance which clearly has been ignored for sometime. With a bit of elbow grease, paint, new sand and putting surfaces these areas could be brought back and enjoyed instead of giving an overall dated and dilapidated feel to the resort. The water feature which has the bridge over which everyone must walk to head to the beach was stagnant with leaves, debris and even a dead bird floating around in it for the entire time we were there. Fill it in with sand or plant it if it cannot be kept up, but leaving it to be a haven for mosquito growth and rotting black birds is not only unsanitary it projects the opposite of what you want to have guest perceive. Two of the elevators state the wrong floor prior to the doors opening. The rooms and hallways are a bit dated, but kept clean and usable. The AC units work, but are loud. Frankly, the outside complex could use a coat of paint.

Fabulous three nights at the Altura Eurotel. We had a family suite which was enormous and perfect for us. The service throughout the hotel was friendly and efficient. The kids club was great. Breakfast every morning was plentiful and delicious! It is an older hotel but they have done a great job of updating it. The walls are quite thin so if you are a light sleeper beware! Also the Spa/Indoor pool was quite small and not worth the extra charges. Apart from that I have nothing negative to say and would definitely return!

Lovely view of the beach from the room. Lovely outdoor pool area and access to the beach direct from the hotel. Lift seemed to break a lot and only just one lift serving all ten floors so had to wait a long time to get on. Lift also quite small.

The outside of the building is intimidating because it is a tall high rise interrupting a beautiful coastline. Everything about the inside and grounds is excellent. Outstanding return for the money. Spacious clean rooms. Lovely pool and grounds around it. Private beach access and amenities on the beach. Delicious and expansive breakfast buffet. Nice service. A great find on a long beach in a cute town.

I have been visiting this hotel, on and off, since 1996 and it never fails to disappoint. Situated in the quiet village of Altura, the hotel has everything you need when looking for a calming, peaceful, relaxing holiday or short break.
The staff are friendly yet professional and always happy to help. The hotel has a light and airy restaurant where you can enjoy a buffet breakfast with both hot and cold options and a waiter service evening meal. There is a snack bar overlooking the pool and gardens, where a light lunch or snack can be enjoyed.
Rooms and bathrooms are clean and have all you need i.e. wardrobe space, safe, TV, hospitality tray, hairdryers and complimentary toiletries. All rooms enjoy a sea view. Just one point, two complimentary coffee pods are provided daily, however if you request extra coffee pods for your inroom coffee machine, you will be charged €1 per pod.
The hotel offers a range of spa facilitates in its Wellness Centre which are so relaxing and won't break the bank. The Wellness Centre has a heated indoor pool, steam room and rainforest shower which are free to use when buying a treatment. To use independently, there is a cost of €7.50pp.
Eurotel has an adequate outdoor pool with sunbeds plus a parasol covered seating area.
There is a well stocked bar in the lounge area where you can enjoy a quiet drink whilst listening to or watching the evening entertainment.
An ideal hotel and location for couples and older holiday makers.

A lovely stay - very peaceful for mid August!

We have recently returned from an 11 night stay at Altura Beach Hotel and had the most lovely relaxing time. We very much enjoyed our time there. Reception staff, Porters etc. all friendly, accommodating and helpful. Our room was a good size and our 16 year old son had a separate bed in a little annex in the room which was ideal – air conditioning was above his head so he needed a blanket at night! Bathroom large and smart – looked new. We had one of the small balconies – would have preferred a larger one but was not an issue. We opted for B & B and glad we did – breakfast was excellent and everything we could want fresh and when needed to be hot. Pool and gardens lovely – we stayed under trees or in sun in the gardens – lovely. Pool never really busy and thankfully no need to get up at 8.00 am to secure beds. The beach is fantastic – beautifully wide clean white sandy beach – empty at 7 am and stunning, packed by 9.30 so we used to take walks along the beach and swam in sea etc. but then returned to pool. Very clean and well maintained.

Nice hotel, shame about the food

Hotel is well situated, connected to the beach by a 250m boardwalk. It has lots of outdoor activities - mini golf, tennis court, basketball hoop, 5-a-side pitch, swimming pool and grass areas.
The buffet breakfast is excellent, pity the same cannot be said for the buffet dinner, we tried this the last time we stayed here and learnt from experience, even the enticement of a free bottle of wine with dinner could not compensate for the standard of the food. There was an al a carte menu available, but I think the kitchen would have been in a state of shock should anyone have ordered from it! This was really the only downside of the hotel.
However, on our most recent stay there was a full fire evacuation at 11am which meant walking down 12 flights of stairs and for someone with limited mobility that is some ask! Also the lifts were not turned back on again for us to check that we had packed everything so my wife got a lot of steps in that morning!
Overall a perfectly good hotel with all rooms sea-facing, ask for a high floor, but just be wary in case of fire or fire drill!
There is a spa at the hotel but cannot comment as we have not made use of this facility.
There are lots of good restaurants close by for an evening meal so don't be afraid to try out somewhere else. (O Infante restaurant and the local Gastro Pub to mention but a few)

Plus side. Clean room and glitzy public areas. Good size outside pool which was cleaned daily. All rooms have good sea views. Cold buffet breakfast provides a good choice of items.
Downside. Small room (604) and very tiny bathroom. No sound insulation between rooms. You hear every cough, snore etc from the room next door. In the bathroom it is even worse what you hear!
Wifi is unsecured and less than 1mbps, not even enough to load pics on bbc news on iPad. Bar prices are from another planet. Bottle of water placed in the room is not free and priced at over 3 euros. Hot buffet breakfast items, (eggs, beans, bacon etc) cold or at best luke warm and unappetising. Sorry but would not recommend unless you like sleep deprivation.

The hotel is situated a little away from the centre of things. Saying that it is very quiet the beach was wonderful to walk on and lots of boardwalks if you want to avoid the sand. The lobby is very clean and checkin was quick. The room we had was very clean with a balcony overlooking the swimming pool and the beach. Breakfast in the morning was great you could ask for anything better. Would I stay again, definitely.

We had a lovely week here. Hotel staff all friendly and helpful. Room was kept clean by lovely chambermaids - if you wanted they would tidy every day. Buffet breakfast was included. Lots of choice from continental to full English. We also ate two evenings at hotel restaurant- €21 per person for buffet or the a la carte option. We chose buffet both evenings as there was 3 courses with lots of choice. But there were several restaurants within short walking distance too - which were great and reasonable price. We were lucky with the weather! Very hot on several days and we were able to enjoy the beach - just a short walk along the boardwalk from hotel. NB there was no shade on beach - as traders gone at end of season - so couldn't hire umbrella/canopy. Around the hotel pool though there were plenty of loungers and shade from palm trees and umbrellas. Our only gripe (and it's only a small one) would be that the outdoor pool was just too cold in October - as not heated. But every thing else here was great. Music/entertainment in the bar area most evenings. DVDs available free from reception - and a quite room with books / newspapers (in several languages). Didn't use the hotel spa facilities as thought it a bit expensive- (and we hadn't budgeted for that) - but it looked very good. And plenty of guests were using it. Would definitely go back :)

beautiful hotel, excellent food, large rooms with balcony, wonderful sea views as hotel backs onto beach and pathway runs from hotel to beach, surrounded by beautiful green trees and shrubs. Lovely pool with spacious bathing areas. Staff were always helpful. Fairly quiet area as this is the only large hotel in this area, but lovely streets and restaurants nearby. Perfect relaxing holiday! Would definitely go again!

The only issues was the menu in the a la cart restaurant was a bit limited and breakfast was not refilled when they had run out.. And they didn't have an iron to use. Otherwise a nice hotel.

A really relaxing time with excellent service

My wife and I first visited the Eurotel, Altura, in March 2015. We liked it so much we came back for a second week in September. We loved the beach location, the welcoming spirit and sense of service among all the staff, and the outdoor hotel swimming pool. All the staff were friendly, including the coffee and bar staff. And the hotel's decor is very attractive. They were very helping on the phone (in English) in arranging the airport connection by taxi for us at a good price. And they have even found an item from our luggage we left behind by mistake and are returning it to us. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a relaxing break at a reasonable price.

Nice revamped property. Confess it doesn't look like much from the front, but it's been fully refurbished and is of very high quality inside.

Watchout for Hotels.com listing: I was booked into a standard room and the listing stated a separate sitting room was available. Reception says that's only suites, though they very kindly accommodated us and upgraded our reservation.

Great location but a couple improvements would help the experience: let people use the spa area pool and lounge. Bathrooms need to be updated, especially tubs, ours was moldy. Front desk staff not very friendly or helpful with knowledge of the surrounding area, couldn't help with directions to a major attraction only 35 km away. Plusses: Spacious room, great bed, great breakfast. There is a little protected sanctuary between hotel and beach full of chameleons, cool!

Let guests use the spa!

This would have been a 4 star stay if the hotel had allowed adult guests access to the beautiful spa and sauna in the facility as part of the stay. Unfortunately, they charge extra for it's use, which should be included at a standard 4 star accommodation, and would cost them nothing. Staff was average, breakfast was fantastic, nothing else to do in the sleepy town on off-season if you're not a golfer.

Very clean and we'll appointed rooms. The wifi is a bit hit and miss which can be frustrating. The staff are helpful and the food is good and varied. We had a good relaxing beach holiday. If you are looking to chill out for a few days then this fits the bill. Not much goes on at night so be warned if you are like a night club etc.

Lovely hotel and the staff were terrific - at the hotel and at the beach restaurant. great beach. Only issue was that the connection to the internet was unreliable and very variable - this became quite frustrating and cost several in our family a lot of time trying to access and complete work-related items - very frustrating when we wanted to be on the beach. One day oen corner in the lobby would be great but the next day there would be minimal to no connectivity.

Disappointing!

The hotel staff were unfriendly and quite blunt at times. The wifi was tempremental and didn't work throughout the day and night. I attempted to gain access from my room on the 10th floor and was unsuccesful from 06.00 - 01.00! Even sat in the lobby it didn't work. Staff were grumpy when I asked for a cup of hot water. when I requested a wine opener I was rudely told to bring my bottle down and they would open it, but they wouldn't give me the opener to take to my room. I would not return to this hotel. The toilet seat was hanging off with the bathroom door not closing because it banged against the toilet as the bathroom was so small. There was a layer of dust where the glasses were kept and no kettle in the room. Very disappointing despite the many positive reviews which is what I based my expectations on when making this booking.

This hotel is right on the beach and in a delightful seaside village. Every room has a direct view of the ocean. The grounds are nice and private with plenty of room around the pool to relax and not feel crowded. There is a wide variety of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel gym, free for guests, helps you enjoy these with less guilt.

Stayed at the Eurotel in Altura at the end of May, we drove from Ronda in Spain after spending a few days there before driving to Portugal. On arrival we were met by real friendly staff and given our room key, the room was very spacious, wi-fi was free but reception was very poor. Went to the reception to ask for an iron & ironing board and was told they don't supply them, I ask what I was supposed to iron my clothes with and the reply was \" just wear the clothes you have left \" I said you are having a joke surely, to which he replied there is a laundry service, well if you have seen the price of these !!!!! I then asked for some milk for the room and was told there was a supermarket close !! Went down for evening meal which was very good, next day went down for breakfast plenty of variety but it was never hot !! Went out for the day expecting our room to be serviced, the cups and glasses we had used previously were still dirty on the tea tray, the tea & coffee had not been replaced, don't think I would be rushing to go back !!!

Hotel is about 50 minutes drive from Faro Airport. We stayed there with our 8 months baby. she really enjoyed swimming in outdoor pool when it was sunny. There is a charge to use indoor pool if anybody wants to use it. Room was clean and bed was very comfy.There is no iron board in the room. There are a lot of restaurant within 10 km of hotel with reasonable price. Our room was with breakfast only, so we had to pay to use a buffet which was more expensive than outside restaurants. We got a voucher for one bottle of wine for free as we dinned last night of our stay in the hotel . Hotel surprised us with bottle of champagne for my wife's' birthday when we returned from breakfast one morning. It's only 5 minutes walk to the sandy beach through private walkway. There is a daily tour around the area and music at nights in lobby. Quiet & Relaxing holiday

A good hotel right next to a great beach

This grey concrete high-rise hotel has a rather non-descriptive appearance at best, but it is located a boardwalk away from a beautiful sandy beach and provides you with the standard set of amenities you would expect from a 4* resort.
The area is a conglomerate of all-inclusives and homes for rent, and there are bus shuttles to Castro Marim and V.R.d.S.A., but you'll need a car to get elsewhere. Lots of activities for kids and quiet nights - if that's what you're after then this place is for you.

Stayed mid October 2013, hotel 80% full but lots of room in public areas and around the pool. Ideal for us who enjoy a peaceful unspoilt location. Staff very accommodating, food excellent and furnishings to a high standard and clean.

Great hotel, great holiday!!

Staying at eurotel altura was a great and unforgettable experience. My husband booked this holiday for our 15th wedding anniversary and I'm glad that he did!! The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff were excellent especially the staff at reception. Nothing was too much trouble for them, always there with helping hand and smile. The breakfast was really nice and a lot of variety. We were upgraded to a superior room with no extra charge. The room was immaculate like the rest of the hotel. We also enjoyed the spa facilities which was a lovely and relaxing experience. I would like go thank the staff for leaving a fruit basket on our room on the day of our Anniversay. It was a lovely surprise. If your looking for stress free and relaxing holiday this is the place to go. The only thing I missed was having a kettle in the room to make tea/coffee and more vegetarian options on the evening menu other than that it was brilliant. I'd like to mention rooey on front desk. He was most helpful. Thanks to eurotel altura from myself and my husband.

A happy vacation

The hotel is perfectly located, the staff are welcoming and efficient and they went out of their way to make sure our stay there was really enjoyable.
The facilities i.e. the gymn, the pool, the library, the PC's etc are first class. The unexpected surprise of a live musician playing gentle saxaphone music at the pool on Sunday evening while the staff offered guests free tapas and drinks, was delightful.

Fantastic modern hotel! Perfect for beach / hotel

Eurotel Altura is a dantastic hotel! Although the outside looks a little weather beaten, inside the hotel is immaculate! The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a reasonably priced mini bar and fantastic views over the sea. The restaurant serves amazing food and the price is reasonable.

The staff t Eurotel are first rate, all speaking excellent English, being friendly and helpful.

The location is stunning with access to a beautiful beach spreading as far as the eye can see!

My only comment is that Altura is a quiet place' with only a few restaurants and no real bars apart from the hotel. There are plenty of restaurants and bars further down the beach which are about 20-40 minutes walk along the beach. However if you are looking for a quiet beach / hotel holiday Eurotel Altura is perfect!

Stayed in this hotel twice, one at the beginning of our stay then went off to Seville for a few days and decided to stay there again on our return. I found staff friendly and helpful and thought the price was good. The rooms were lovely and all the rooms seemed to have a sea view. The only criticism of the room was that my boyfriend found the bed a bit too hard and felt a little sore after a couple of nights stay. Apart from that the room was very well furnished, large and very clean. The hotel is v.close to the beach and it had a nice pool area. The buffet service was good rather than excellent, nice bar area and there was live music the time we stayed. Overall gave the hotel five out of five. Very nice and a good base if your visiting the surrounding area.

Hotel Eurotel Altura - Relaxing holiday..

If you want a relaxing beach holiday with decent food, this is the place to go.

But if you want to see the sites, you need to look for a place better located. When we went very recently, they had only 3 hotel bus trips to surrounding destinations. It's quite expensive by taxi to get around. If you haven't hired a car as it's a 15min slow walk to the bus stop and buses come every hour - not fun in the heat with small children.

If you're only on half board and need to get lunches, all three restaurants (two right on beach) next to the hotel have great food, but will set a family of four (with two small children) about 50 Euros.

Ensure you organise your airport transfers from Faro as we paid a hefty 80 Euros from Faro airport to the hotel (with night rates). On the way back, it was 55 Euros (day rates). It was only this 'cheap' as driver took a short cut. The day taxi rate was still cheaper than hotel shuttle bus of 22 Euros per person (kids 2-12 at half cost).

Food was good quality (I'm very fussy), but a little similar each night. Would be good if they had different sorts of cuisine - we were desperate for chinese and indian after this. Save room for desserts as the cakes were brilliant every night.

The hotel's children's club was good, but I get the feeling that if there weren't many kids there, they didn't really want to look after two or three kids. Should be no problems during the summer holidays though.

There were no coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms, and lower level rooms have a little obstruction towards the sea.

Could not fault the staff - absolutely fantastic and welcoming!! Apparently, according to other guests, they were the same ones every year.

Very lucky one evening on the beach, we saw dolphins frolicking near the sea shore...

Overall a wonderful stay.

A holtel not well maintained

The hotel is advertised as a 4 star hotel, but is a 3 star hotel at best. The rooms lack central-air conditioning but have an older room air conditioner that was inadequate for the room size: the furniture in the room(s) is old, not well maintained, When i opened the reffrigerator it was warm so i called the front desk and explained to them that i need a working refrigerator to keep insulin from spoiling. They sent a maintenance man who claimed to have fixed it, but after an hour it was still warm. So they offered a second room, same as the first, except the safe did not work. I told them i needed a safe for our valuables so when we went out we would not need to carry our valuables including our passports. Then we were offered a suite, but the safe did not work and the maintenance man could not get it to lock. By then i was getting woren out, two hours passed since we had originally checked in. We decided to try our luck elsewhere, which turned out to be a good decision. This hotel is obviously not well maintained and i would not recommend it.

t. For a beach hotel we need a place where to keep our valuables and documents while we are out of the room

Eurotel Altura Beach and Golf Hotel - Algarve Portugal

This hotel is probably the best in the city, which is very small but really nice. The hotel is clean, food is OK, not really good, but there is plenty of very good and cheap restaurants at walking distance, BUT... for a Beach Resort, they should provide pool/beach towels and pool/beach food service. If you live in Portugal/Spain and is traveling by car you can take beach/pool towels from home. If you are, like us is traveling by plane, is quiet difficult and you also don't want to spend 20 euros buying one cheap towel for a couple of days. And you will need to pay 16 euros/day to use the beach chair and umbrella the hotel provide, or seat on the very hot sand ( without a towel)....

Some outdated rooms but good value.

Hotel downtown. A bit old and some rooms are outdated. We booked a room that was old and was asked if we wanted a superior room instead for 5 euro extra. That room was brand new and was good. All rooms included free good breakfast buffet and free parking in a garage next door. Good hotel but nothing fancy.

Um lugar para desfrutar e descansar

Eu costumo me hospedar no hotel, desde 2019. Os quartos superiores são muito confortáveis, ao contrário dos standart (que são diminutos e desconfortáveis, especialmente aareade banho).
O atendimento na recepção é sempre excelente e muito gentil, com destaque para a Sra Cidália. O pequeno almoço precisa de ajustes, tanto com relação à organização dos equipamentos (torradeira muitas vezes sem a montagem adequada), e mais zelo na confecção dos alimentos (pãeszinhos caracóis mal cozidos, bacon queimado, frutas cortadas de véspera, por vezes já deteriorando) etc. E o atendimento no pequeno almoço não andou bem no mês de setembro, com empregados a chegar 30 minutos após a abertura do salão, fazendo com que pratos, loiças, talheres, copos e xícaras usados fossem se acumulando nas mesas. Enfim, é o único ponto que precisa de ajustes. A ideia de colocar música ao vivo à noite foi fantástica. Músicos realmente de 1ª linha, com repertório excelente. Cria um ambiente especial. É um lugar que repito sempre que posso e recomendo. A praia é fantástica e está a escassos passos do hotel.

Absolut rigtig godt

Det var et dejligt ophold.
Hvis vi skal sige noget der er mindre godt, skal det være en buffet, vi tilkøbte. De fisk der var på buffeten, var en bradepande med kartofler og nogle fisk vi ikke kunne finde. Det andet var en ukendt fisk som ikke var renset for ben. Der var mere ben end der var fisk. Så vi har over alt være rigtig glade for vores ophold, men aftenbuffeten kunne vi godt undvære.
Jeg har det lidt skidt med at sige det, fordi vi vil til enhver tid tage tilbage til dette hotel. Personalet var enestående søde servicen var i top rengøring var rigtig fin så alt i alt er vi rigtig glade for stedet. De fortjener den største anerkendelse.
Jeg ville hellere betale 50 € for buffeten i stedet for 26 € og så få en rigtig god menu.

Der Empfang im Hotel war freundlich und der Checkin verlief relativ unkompliziert und schnell. Der Gesamteindruck des Hotels war gut und gepflegt. Klar, es gibt Hotels die weitaus moderner aufgestellt/eingerichtet sind. Für uns war es leicht über unseren Erwartungen.
Unsere Zimmer waren sehr sauber und wurde auch täglich sauber gehalten.
Der Außen-/Poolbereich wurde auch täglich gereinigt und aufgeräumt und das Wasser im Pool war sauber.
Das Publikum war eher im oberen Altersdurchschnitt, gefolgt von Familien mit Kindern - für uns passend.
Das Frühstücksbuffet war ausreichend und qualitativ gut, jedoch ohne abwechselnde Speisen.
An der Snackbar kann man Mittags eine kleine Auswahl an Speisen zu sich nehmen - Preise vergleichbar wie in D.
Das Abendessen wurde nicht probiert, da wir auswärts gespeist haben - es gibt einige Möglichkeiten in unmittelbarer Nähe.
Sehr gut hat uns der Weg zum Strand gefallen, welcher sicher über Holzstege verlief und gepflegt war. Der Strand an sich ist super und sauber. Es können Sonnenschirme-/liegen angemietet werden - 18€/Tag. Wir haben uns 20m weiter direkt an den Sandstrand gelegt - hier sollte ein Schattenspender mitgebracht werden da keine Bäume/Palmen/etc. existieren.
Uns als Familie hat der Aufenthalt gut gefallen.
