The staff were helpful, friendly and polite and the facilities on site were good. It was also in a good location within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops and the seafront. The supermarket on site was also convenient and well stocked.

Our apartment was in a quiet part of the compex, but it was not the cleanest and it was cold. It was winter and raining, but the two air conditioners didn't warm it sufficiently. An example of cleanliness is the cupboard doors in the kitchen were sticky, also lots of cobwebs behind the bedroom door. The apartment was also infested everywhere with ants, so had to buy ant killer. Other apartments may be better, but ours was not great. We weren't asked about our stay on check out, so we didn't offer feedback.

We had a wonderful stay at Pedras da Rainha. Checkin/out were easy, the room was very clean, and the property was well-maintained. We brought our dog with us and it was the simplest, no-hassle pet experience ever.

The location was excellent - just down the road from charming restaurants and shops plus a walkable boardwalk. A quick 10-minute drive has you in Tavira proper or in the other direction, at a bright sandy beach.

We would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to others.

So enjoyed our short stay…room was clean…didn’t have air conditioning but tell tell the desk the next morning but we survived with the patio door with screening for air circulation! Did enjoy the continental breakfast and leisurely stroll for some sight seeing down at the inlet…my friend is interested in long term rental in the off season and would certainly consider this property as would I.

We needed somewhere to stay last minute that was budget friendly and we plumped for this thinking it had the bonus of a pool. While the accommodation was clean and the AC worked well, the bathroom was too cramped. Manageable for 3 nights but wouldn’t want any more.

The place is obviously well loved by Portuguese families. However we didn’t end up using the pool at all as it was small for the amount of people in the place, so full of groups of people chatting in the pool and the water was murky and the tiles around the edge were dirty and off putting. Many of the houses need repainting and some of the pathways were in desperate need of repair.

Loved Cabanas and Tavira but wouldn’t return! Considering we didn’t use the pool or any of the facilities I also didn’t think it was value for money and that was with money off Expedia due to a money off reward I had used.

Le plus c'est le transport gratuit jusqu'à la plage en bateau.

Everything was great and the staff was awesome. The only negatives were the kitchen was too dark, the fireplace smoke odor was overpowering and strong, and the front door and car were always full of pidgeon poop. Trimming the trees should solve the pidgeon poop issue. We didn’t know the WiFi router had to be rented and there were none available for the first week. All the shortcomings were made up by the great staff.

The short walk to the non stop ferry crossings made the beautiful beach really accessible, and the short taxi ride into Tavira gave us cultural experiences and a stunning setting for dinner by the river. Arrived around 22:00 and was given a small map with my apartment circled in pen and sent then to move in on my own. It took me approximately 40 minutes to find it in the dark!. When I did find it I entered the studio door to find a large cockroach on my bed pillow?!. I complained about my exsperince at reception the next day. The resort in general has a run down feeling about it with Dirty outside walls and my staircase was covered in bird mess. There is way too much noise from barking dogs during the day and I won’t be staying here again. No where near worth the money I paid.

Nice swimming pool. Great beach - all very well organized so the guests can get to the beach easily. The facilities are well preserved. The gardens are very well kept. The village has everything you need - restaurants, coffee shops, mini markets, all within walking distance from Pedras da Rainha. All in all it was quite a nice few days!

Free taxi boat to go to the most beautiful beach, free little train to get there. very friendly and very close walk to the promenade. Recommend sunset cruise, paddel boarding activities, all in one place very nearby. very convenient for family. clean, air con, friendly bar and cafeteria. Portugal has a strict policy of wearing mask even while boating but did not bothered us.

Reception staff where very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy with enough utensils and cutlery to be able to cook meals if required. We ate out. Very good location with just a short walk to the front for shops and restaurants.
The grounds are kept very clean and tidy, lots of parking.

The place is rather run down (need painting, new towels etc) but maybe one should not have high expectations given the price range... However, given the overall rating that was featured on your sight, it was disappointing...... hence had higher hopes which the facilities did not live up to. The Apartments was surprisingly nicely fitted and well kept. The complex as such could benefit from some outside maintenance, but not such that it created any problems at least. The reception open 24/7 as well as a nice coffee shop for breakfast makes life say whether you want to make your own meals or not. A positive surprise also that the apartments are serviced every day (I believe). Walking distance to the beach area that has plenty of restaurants and even a supermarket almost adjacent to the resort.

We were staying in one of the more recently done out studio apartments which had excellent cooking facilities, good comfy bed and a little balcony which was had nice views of the grounds. Location was excellent as it was quiet at night but close to shops, restaurants, railway station and the nature reserve.

We had a lovely relaxed stay. Our apartment was a good size and well equipped. The staff were friendly and helpful. We felt that the apartments offer very good value for money. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning units in the bedroom and living room were really great, allowing us to get a good nights sleep and escape from the heat of the day, while the little terrace was very pleasant in the evenings. We self catered so we can't comment on the bar or restaurant. The cleaners were friendly and efficient.

Nice area - outdated room poorly cleaned with bugs

Rooms dark, dated and not very well cleaned. Also full of insects - even in the beds. Shame they don't spend as much effort on the outside gardens as they do on the rooms ! It could be such a nice place.

Second trip to pedras. It is a nice place to stay, convenient for everything and pleasant if you want to stay in the complex. Good pool, nice kitchen lots of green space. Below a few niggles

I did have some cockroaches and ants as additional guests.
In a studio the fridge can get rather loud
Many guests bring dogs or cats...there was one dog nearby which barked a fair bit
There was a photography club from England staying..they did, at times , become rather intrusive

But given these things I would still go back like a shot.

This is a great option for families or budget beach travellers. The property has a lot of useful amenities, including a super market and laundromat. The cabana includes a kitchenette with cooking gear. The beds were less comfortable as they were essentially single sofa beds.

I love this place so much....

I have been visitinbf Pedras da Rainha for over 30 years and it is still perfect! Lovely pool - huge and always spotlessly kept. Grounds are an oasis of peace and quiet. The appartments have been modernised and meet every need. Cabanas has grown but is still charming and has lots of cafes and restaurants. I love getting the boat to the beach - which has the softest sand. No complaints - absolutely perfect.

Pretty complex, convenient for lots of amenities

Really nicely laid out with lovely gardens, handy supermarket and hotel bar. Everything we needed was a 5 minute walk from the shops to the restaurants and the pool and the beach. The rooms aren't super high quality but they are quite traditional with fireplaces and beams and outside terraces, so don't expect 5 stars. We really enjoyed our stay.

Nice low rise apartment complex. Close to waterfront and beach. Facilities ok and apartment was comfortable. Road train / private boat to Cabanas beach a nice touch. On down side, pool could get very busy in afternoon (high season). Could be a bit noisy at night in the apartments closer to strip, with people returning from night out / street noise.

This self catering hotel is best for locals who bring all their stuff including sponges to wash their dishes. Not a good choice for international ttavelers. A good walk to the outboard boat that takes you to the barrier beach.

Great fun as long as you have low expectations

This is an old holiday village. It has everything you would need for a great fun holiday... 5 or 6 tennis courts in good condition, a small but adequate pool, supermarkets, bar and small restaurant. There is even an outdoor flat green bowls area and a club house..... It is close to the village and a boat service takes you to the stunning beach... All in all a great spot for a family holiday.... HOWEVER, the chalets are very old and tired... they are probably fine in the hot summer months, but in October they were very damp and cold.. They are big enough but terribly dark and not well equipped... The beds were hard but comfortable but the bedding was almost wet through damp... If you want a cheap and fun time, then this could be for you, however if the price goes up then it would not be great value at all. We paid about 56 Euro for a two bed chalet for one night... great value... but had I paid any more than that, I would have been really unhappy.. afterall you get what you pay for.

Pleasant place to stay

Pedras de Rainha is a pleasant place to stay if you want relative comfort, well-maintained gardens and good facilities near to Cabanas and not far fromTavira. If booking with Expedia you will probably be put in an adequate and pleasant apartment overlooking the pool on one side and the road on the other. I was allocated 156. This may suit many but not everyone. The mindless and perpetual music at the pool did not suit me and I asked to be moved and was. 45C was a one-bedroomed apartment on the edge of the estate, wonderfully quiet, which suited me. The pool is good. Internet access seemed expensive: 2 Euros for 15 minutes. The on-site supermarket (very limited opening and limited stock) was not a patch on Melhior Precio just down the road open everyday until 10.00 p.m. If you have a car, there is even better on the way in to Tavira. There is a good English-speaking butcher in Cabanas down a back street not far from Melhior Precios supermarket.

Great hotel for young family, attentive staff

Really lovely place to stay, great facilities in the apartment for self catering for small children and adults alike we enjoyed cooking fresh fish from the market on our BBQ . Our fridge broke down and it was replaced within hours of the complaint. The grounds were really kept in good condition and the pool was a great communal hub in the afternoons. Would stay here again. The only negative was the under stocked on-site super market that was just not adequate for our self catering requirements, however there were three other supermarkets to choose from in the local vacinity. Great place to stay!

We arrived about 8 pm, the desk person didn't look up from his phone call for 10 minutes, we got to our room, thought it was basic. Went out for something to eat, loved the sea front, boardwalk and restaurants, bars, beach out of this world. The hotel pool was excellent, although crowded with children, could do with a separate one for adults. The bonus is the location, hotel studios could do with a paint. We didn't eat at the hotel. We ate out and can recommend any of the restaurants. Cococabanas bar is brilliant, the portugese red wine is fantastic, good value, 3 euros for a bottle in the restaurants. Sabores da ria restaurant is the best. Would recommend to anyone who wants a quiet beach holiday.

Great authentic algarve experience

The apartments although basic are in a very lovely setting great kids pool and 2 minutes walk to a really beautiful town. Everything was handy shops , restaurants and even had a handy train and boat to the beach the kids loved it. The whole holiday was perfect. Great hotel for more mature couples and families.

We stayed self catering and did not use all the facilities the hotel offered. A little more attention to detail from the hotel would improve it. For example there were never enough umbrellas at the pool even though there were spaces for them. We were unable to find a potato peeler in the room and the frying pan was rubbish. The staff were very helpful particularly on the firsst night and overall except for a few niggly details everything was excellent. The local pharmacist is very helpful with mosquito stings. We liked Johns Bar when we ate out. The resort is only a small one and we found a hired car very useful to go to Tavira and shop in the hypermarket and also visit Spain which is very close with some attractive prices. The lack of loud discos and noise was brilliant. Satellite TV is only five news channels.

I stayed here with my 3 children under 5years April 2013. We called Reception before arriving and they were kind to arrange aiport transfer from faro(30mins @ 50-55euros each way),very nice bilingual drivers but HIGHLY RECOMMEND car rental.

however they don't clean on Wednesday's and Sunday's as we later found out.

My recommendation to the team/management there -
1. They should provide a booklet of facilities and services they provide . As it is easy to plan when you know fully what you will get.
2. Although there are phones in each apartment. They don't work and they should at least permit Reception to apartment calls for emergencies. Which helps with keeping guests feeling safe.

Basic but great value

We stayed at Pedras Da Rainha for 9 days in March. The apartment was very basic but so clean and there was everything you needed for a self catering holiday. The cutlery and crockery was in excellent condition and I can't think of a single thing that was missing.

We were lucky to get a first floor, south facing apartment. You can't quite see the sea from there, as it's obscured by the buildings in front, but you can hear it. The balcony was very spacious and a lovely spot to relax with a glass of wine (or two# and just chill out.

The complex is in a great position, just a few minutes level walk to the sea, shops and cafes. Cabanas is such a beautiful little place, which we will never tire of going to. Conceicao railway station is about a 15 minute walk away and from there you can get to many places very cheaply #it's cheaper on the train than on the bus#.

Ask at reception for details of the scenic walk to Tavira. It takes about an hour and a quarter and you pass beautiful wild flower meadows and salt pans with wading birds. You will also see the storks nesting on top of the tall chimneys on the outskirts of Tavira.

There is a very good 'out of town' shopping complex before you get into Tavira town centre. You can get anything from the Continente supermarket. There's also a C&A store there - a rare sighting indeed these days!

In Tavira there's a big Lidol store right next to the station - ideal for doing your shopping and then hop on the train back.

We can never believe how cheap it is to eat out, particularly in Cabanas. Lunch, comprising two croissants #one with cheese & ham#, a coffee and an orange juice was just over 5 Euros - bargain! And, you can buy sangria by the glass for just 2.50 Euros.

I'd recommend the area and Pedras Da Rainha to anyone, particularly if you're after a holiday on a budget. You'd be hard pushed to find anything cheaper and better. Will we go back ? You bet!

we arrived at night and found our studio flats were up stairs and as i have trouble with my knees we asked if we could change rooms.

The hotel receptionist said he could not do anything then but would do so the next day which he did

The complex is situated about 10 mins stroll to the sea front where there is a lovely beach where you get to by free boat service, and 15 mins to the train station.

Just returned from a wonderful week at Pedras de Rainha. The staff are extremely helpful and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. The whole complex is very clean and the pool is great. The rooms are a little basic and dark but the terrace/balcony is quite spacious. We went to celebrate my 50th birthday and it was relaxing and just what we wanted but we did meet a couple with young children who said that although they were enjoying their stay there was nothing really for children to do in Cabanas.

We were originally given a tiny room which had a kitchen but didn't really have a bed! However, for 10 euro a night they upgraded us to a much bigger room which had a separate bedroom, lounge, bathroom, kitchen and balcony overlooking the pool. I think I read that someone else had the same experience, so maybe this is their standard approach - allocate a tiny room then charge for an upgrade?
Easy walk to Cabanas village. Bus stop right outside so you can go to Tavira. Train station only a 10 minute walk away so you could travel anywhere along the coast. This was more frequent, faster and probably cheaper than the bus.

Brilliant Break

The place is, if you are picky, a little tired, but the staff were very friendly and when we had a problem with the hot water cylinder at 5.30 pm they had a technician attending at 8.15 am the next day and he took 15 minutes to replace the thermostat. Going in late October meant that the resort was very quiet, but most bars restaurants were still open and the weather was still good. Cabanas is a nice resort and the ferry across to the beach ran, when you turned up; there is no cost if you are staying at PdR as you get a pass for the ferry. The villa was very well equiped, but we should have taken some dishwasher tabs and a dishcloth and liquid.

We arrived at the hotel after a long day of walking around in sunny Tavira. Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff spoke English. They were wonderfully accomodating and made us feel very comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that the hotel has its own private boat to take you to Tavira Island, so as soon as we put our belongings in our room, we walked into town (Cabanas) and waited at the dock for the boat. The island was beautiful, and definitely a great perk of staying at the hotel! Our room was clean, and contained everything we needed for our stay (utensils, pillows, blankets, toiletries, etc). We purchased our own food from the market down the street and ate at La Brassarie restaurant in town for dinner. The food and service were phenomenal! After dinner, we went back to our apartment for bed. The beds were very sparce, but so comfortable after walking around all day. All in all, I'd say that if you are looking for a luxury hotel, this is not the place for you... But if you are going to take advantage of the many amenities that the hotel has to offer and you are wanting to get out and enjoy yourself, I'd highly recommend Pedras da Rainha. We spent the majority of our time out of the apartment, but our vehicle was safe in the parking area and we really enjoyed exploring the town of Cabanas and the Island.

If the paradise has a name it is Portugal

We arrived really late. I was on medication and need to have some food although the restaurant which is part of the complex was closing they agree to prepared some food. People there were really nice, helpful and friendly. The restaurant's food was simply amazing and with a very reasonable price. The place is quiet and beautiful. The beach is good and not too far away. The hotel provide water taxi card which was great.
We are young professionals seeking for a place to relax and that's what we found there so if you after quiet and lazy holiday then I will strongly recommend it
Can't wait to go back!

Such a Shame

No air conditioning, were told it would be fixed that afternoon, 2 days later after many trips to reception engineer finally came and said it needed a new part, would be available in 3 days, convenient - the day we leave, finally after practically begging and getting pretty angry we were moved to a new room,
this should have been done right away on arrival!!!

Relaxing atmosphere

The hotel itself is on a very large complex but it is not over powering. The lawns are lush green with beautiful flowers all around. We were situated in the center so we didn't have any noise from the bar or main road. All the staff are very helpful and extremely helpful

Still as wonderful as i remembered

I first stayed at Pedras da Rainha over 20 years ago, and it retains a timeless charm. The pool is fabulous and the site is beautiful with bourganvilla , hibiscus and lots of well watered grass against the white villas. the accomodation is basic but very clean. The air conditioning was great, as was the outside patio. The bar meals are good value, as are the cocktails! It is a quiet oasis. We particularly like taking the boat to the beach - great waves and soft sand. Nearby monte Gordo is a lively place to visit in the evenings.

Planning to go back!

Great hotel - simple, rustic and clean, we stayed in a studio apartment that had everything we needed. Perfect for young couples and families who are looking for a relaxing holiday that is good value for money, and with simple but comfortable accommodation. Really close to beach - which is amazing, really long and spacious so doesnt feel remotely crowded. There are also bars and restaurants down there too so worth walking down in the evening. Surroundings are lovely with green grass and flowers, people in reception were really helpful and pleasant. Lovely and relaxed holiday, gorgeous weather, wish we stayed for 2 weeks. We definately will go back here and are recommending to our friends.

Unfortunatly if you don't upgrade and update this 'three star' hotel I won't be coming back

Hotel, please take note. This hotel, believe it or not is a three star rating. It is not, and I would definatly give it a one star. Very oldfashioned, dull furniture, totally unsafe doors, windows. We were upgraded from a dreadful studio type to a 1bedr apt. at a cost, very disappointing. The pool area and grounds are nice and kept v well. Please upgrade and update and I may come back. Beautiful quite area, suitable for young families and mature. Its the first time ever that I came back disappointed from Cabanas and its our 8th trip to the area. If you are visiting try some beautifully newly build apartments there (plenty available now)

Will NOT Return!!

Indifferent check in staff, dark and dreary apartment. Terrible lunch on the first day and over priced. Did not eat there again. \"Cleaners\" is a loose term to describe the people that made the bed and changed the towels - no cleaning done. Pool attendant rude. I could go on but I am sure this review will do nothing except hopefully deter others from wasting their holiday. Please do not dismiss Cabanas as a holiday spot as I have been going there for about 10 years. I decided to try Pedras because of its central location but will be going back to the Cabanas Park - modern, clean and cheaper!!

A Very Pleasant Stay

My wife and I stayed here in mid May. We had originally booked a studio apartment but on arrival found it to be extremely small, north facing, and shaded by the magnificent bourganvilla? plants. We asked to change to a one bedroomed apartment and this was done but at an extra cost. However we felt it was money well spent. This apartment was well equipped and everything worked satisfactorily It seemed to be serviced almost daily. The site itself is very well maintained with lovely planting all around. We did not eat in the restaurant prefering to buy food locally (fresh fish and produce market near by) or to eat in the many small restaurants near by. The thing we particularly liked with this complex is that we could walk, in only a few minutes, into the old village for a meal and enjoy a drink without having to worry about driving or taxis. The free boat service to the beach is very easy and efficient. No waiting about to fill the bots etc. It stops at 6 pm though which we thought was a bit early. The buildings on the beach for food etc had been knocked down and they are all being rebuilt.

Et dejligt sted i rolige omgivelser og tæt på Cabanas med mange spise- og indkøbsmuligheder, hvis man vil lave sin egen mad.
Desværre kunne vi ikke komme ud på den strand, som billederne viser, da vi har hund med🤗
Tennisbanerne er hardcourt og ikke så gode at spille på. Der er til gengæld god gang i padelbanerne.
Husene er meget forskellige … men gå efter et lidt større og nyrenoveret hvis muligt.
Vi havde nogle skønne dage her 🌞

Die Sauberkeit in unserem Appartement lies doch sehr zu wünschen übrig, überall Spinnenweben und Staub, auf den Nachtischen ein dicke Staubschicht, unterm Bett und den Stühlen Spinnenweben. Der Boden wurde in der Woche nur einmal gereinigt.
Im Netz sind nur Fotos der renovierten Appartements, wir hatten ein nicht renoviertes, das sieht dann ganz anders aus. Keine Dusche, nur eine alte Badewanne, nicht schön

Settimana perfetta, location bellissima. Appartamenti appena ristrutturati e pulitissimi, dimensioni più che sufficienti per 4 persone. Bellissimo spazio esterno e possibilità tennis, padel, supermercato… spiaggia CABANAs bellissima e servita con la barca del villaggio. Da migliorare: piscina un po’ piccina per tutta la gente presente e, consiglio, rendete obbligatoria la cuffia! Voto globale 10!

Det er ok!

Personalet er imponerende imødekommende, høflige og meget villige til at hjælpe.
Værelset/huset havde hvad man forventer, men bærer præg af at have en del år bag sig.
Sengene er utrolige hårde, måske standard i Portugal.
Områdets faciliteter var super. Pool, tennis padle - vi brugte det hele:-)
Vores ophold var med halvpension.
Overordnet set er det i gen grund til at beklage sig.
Maden fejler absolut intet, men udvalget er til den begrænsede side.
Når det er sagt må man bestille fra deres menu kort, hvis dagens menu ikke findes interessant - og det et top service.
